Before you post something that says, hey, I bricked my phone ask yourself this.
Does my phone power up and get to the initial boot logo?
Can I still get into recovery?
If the answer is yes, you AREN'T bricked.
When you "brick" something, your phone acts like a brick and nothing else. If you are stuck at the LG logo or you are boot looping, you AREN'T bricked.
Let's get this lingo correct, cool?

We need a sticky for that?
If it acts like a brick...its a brick. If it does anything non brick like...its not a brick. Even BB people should know this.
I really bricked mine once. Wouldn't even power on. I ended up going into nvflash mode and flashing some slate bootloader, then flashing back CWM recovery. It didn't make any changes until the 6 or so try but eventually recovered.

I think the real problem is that there is no word for some of the states we can get our phones into so bricked is easy and concise. Maybe erroneous but try explaining that to a lot of XDA members.
My first g2 bricked itself. I later found out it was the after market battery because my second g2 also bricked but that one was able to power up once I out the OEM battery in. The first one didn't work at all regardless of what battery was in it.
I learned myself if it powers up there is at least a chance that it will work again.

Totally dead, can't power on - bricked
Semi dead but fixable with nvflash or recovery/reflash - soft brick
Restarting itself over and over - bootlooping
Etc....
Pretty easy to distinguish the current state of your device
Brick = paperweight.
A brick just fukken sits there.
If this gets stickied, I say there should be some other common definiations and terms in the sitcky sticky.
hello my problem is this, I wanted to update the telephone froyo to gingerbread, but I needed to first get into recovery mode, I was trying several agreed, but did not work, then I find information for how to enter recovery mode, i found a tutorial, explaining that many companies block to enter recovery mode, you first need to install a file to have the mode, by odin. I follow step by step tutorial, and odin showed all correct, then the phone went black, will not start, took the pile and put it back, and still does not work, I have tried several but none agreed,'s try the JIG but neither method worked, I think I have no choice but to take it to technical service, but my question is, if the phone has a solution, because it is dead. thanks for the help can give me.
i'm not 100% sure what you did, but it looks like you hard bricked your phone, if it does not even start up. where did you hear all of this stuff, btw? you should have checked the bible on how to do this stuff.

Whoawhoawhoa.
First of all, you don't need anything aside from ODIN to install Gingerbread.
Second, what did you do before the screen went black, and the phone would not start?
To get into recovery mode, you must hold the up and down volume buttons, while holding the power button.
Anyway, before trying the Jig, explain exactly what you did once you got the phone into download mode.
Remember, download mode is different than recovery mode.
Odin=needs download
Recovery=For CWM
Read the quickstart guides.

hello, I explain, I was reading a post that would tell me step by step how to install gingerbread, download odin 1.85, when I get to step into recovery mode, the phone usually only kindled.
then mentioned that some teams were locked and needed by odin Unlock it with these files:
adb
aries_P.SBL.tar.md5
reboot download
odin upload files and puts on the screen that everything was done successfully, but the phone was black screen, then disconnect and I want to restart the phone and it stuck.
not much like doing these things, and I think I'm paying for my mistakes, find information here on the forum and follow some methods like these:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1069032
but none worked, this happened to me yesterday also left without battery Saturday night the entire phone and follow the steps above but does not work,
JIG use the method does not work,
this is the problem I have is that it is safer for a service technician, but you who know the subject, if you are under, I do not want the surprise to be told the service technician who is no longer available,
Thanks for your answers
I'm not sure I'm following you all the way, but when you say the screen is stuck, that means it is starting up, right? Is it stuck on the galaxy s startup screen?

Hey guys found a way to unbrick Samsung droid charge and revert back to stock.
1. Download and install Odin found here ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1085190 ) unzip and open
2.Download this file and unzip ( CI510_VZW_EE4_ALL_ONE-LTE-CP_REV03_user_CL1014954.tar.md5.7z) from here ( http://www.multiupload.com/6WJ2SFUKO6 ) or original thread where i found this file is from here ( http://androidflip.com/android-2-3-...are-on-samsung-droid-charge-installing-guide/ )..
In case it fails and it just keeps failing try this other file is not stock but it is 2.3.4 and it works great here is a link to find the file ( http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5PUB8UY7 ) and it also find a mirror download here ( https://rapidshare.com/#!download|9...ar.md5.7z|391371|RapidPro expired. (34fa3175) ) i tried it guys and it does work.
3. set phone to download mode, do this by taking battery of phone, plug phone into computer and hold Volume down, a Yellow triangle with a working android will appear.
4. Click on odin you will see your phone come up under ID:COM, now do not click on anywhere but on PDA thats where you will have to find the file you downloaded on step 2 and make sure is the unzipped file. once u find it, click on open then start.
5. Be patient this can take up some time, once is done the box will turn green and say pass, at this time your phone will no longer have the Yellow triangle and you can unplug and place the battery back in and turn phone on.. once again be patient when turning phone on it will take a little while to complete.
i tried this and it does work, my Droid charge was bricked and now it works.
Thanks to xda-developers where i was able to find odin and also thanks to androidflip.com where i was able to find the Droid Charge stock rom to flash it back using odin.
Hope this helped everyone needing help.
Thanks for posting this, but it isn't the end-all-be-all. I tried to recover from a bad flash using this method and it failed.
I got the error message seen in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1111486
The method in that post failed to help me recover.
I finally found this method (which is linked much later on in the thread above):
http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...harge-full-factory-tar-flashing-software.html
and it worked perfectly for me.
So, if the first method from the OP fails, you have the Samsung PST flash utility that may help.
Yea i was also getting that message at first but it worked fine, but i also ended up installing the 2.3.4 so it worked out well.. was able to fix and unbrick my Droid charge.
I think this is already in a thread here...

We've known about this for a while, but thanks. There's a "How to fix your phone" thread in development which also includes a pit file you use in combination with that .md5
Also, you were probably just bootlooped, not bricked.
Thanks Guys for the input. I thought i was bricked, looked to me i was bricked... But i did this steps and was able to fix my droid charge... I did bot know there was a threath about this on here.. just trying to help people fix their phone if this can be helpful for them that's good.

yeah but even then its not completely hopeless, there are USB jigs that can force it into download mode and this 'Unbrickable Mod' thing that requires tinkering with the internals which is supposedly fool proof

I've seen the term "bricked" thrown about a lot so I'm going to clarify some things.
First of all, there are two types of brick, a soft-brick and a hard-brick.
Soft-brick, that's what people often say when they have a boot-loop. This isn't a brick in the traditional sense. It's not really a brick, you can still recover it if you're at this stage. As long as you can get to the screen with the big yellow triangle you're not bricked at all and you can recover it.
Hard-brick, this is a true brick. This is what happens when the phone will not do anything. Won't show the Samsung logo, won't show the yellow triangle screen, won't do anything at all. At this stage, it might as well be a brick because you can't do anything to it. JTAG should be able to reload the bootloader and the base firmware.

well that's bootlooping not a soft brick, a soft brick would be when you flash something wrong or stop odin mid flash or flash something corrupted then get that little "phone --- ! --- pc" thing (done it twice myself) but yes it is recoverable
permabrick is indeed when it won't power on or do anything, it is a paperweight
hard brick is usually when it won't go into download mode but may still boot up or even go into recovery (probably just bootloops though), however as I mentioned in my last post none of these situations are completely hopeless

yes, also tried charging it from wall charger ans USB. I get this error when plugging into USB (QHSUSB_DLOAD)
It's hard to brick a phone. Worst case, boot into download mode and Odin up the stock image.
If you can't access Download mode, you've most likely bricked as any research I've done points to it. If you've got insurance you can pay the premium, or send it to one of the JTAG services for repair (such as MobileTechVideos).
Just don't leave or touch the phone next time when you're flashing!
With my case it's hard to hit the buttons for recovery and download. I created across to get to them. Not what you're wanting to here. But here's a tip: if you can get adb to recognize your phone but can't use buttons to get into download mode you can "adb shell" and then "reboot download". That will cause the phone to boot download/Odin mode. Hopefully that will work and you can flash back to stock.

If you cant get to download mode or get adb to recognize when properly set up you do probably have a brick. What's happening to you with the warning happened to my friend on Sprint while accidentally flashing a ROM for a different phone. What he had to do was send it in to MobileTechVideos and got it repaired for around 60$. Samsung/Verizon wont likely fix them under warranty.
My only question is if you indeed were flashing synergy, how did a system ROM brick a device. o_0 And hell even if it was another phones ROM wouldn't our locked bootloader deny overwriting?

I think this might also work for you, if the battery charging icon comes on while your charging it then this might work. When you have it connected and the charging icon comes on put it in download mode(do not unplug it until your in download mode). Then use odin to flash it back to stock. It happen to me ones and when i did this it work for me, so i don't know if this will work for you. (Sorry for my grammar)

Confirm if it is Soft or Hard bricked. If the tutorial for unbricking a soft brick works you are back to normal and it was just soft. If not, it is hard bricked :crying: .... That means you cannot bring it in since the warranty was voided after root. First try recovery mode and install another rom... It might work.
