How to download movies to TF - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How does on download digital copies of movies to the TF or dvd versions? I downloaded a digital copy and moved it to the TF and not able to watch. Is there a format that is needed or a viewer? Or a website I can download?
Step by step instructions would help. Thanks in advance.

Do you tried MX Video Player? It plays all sort of files. You have to download the Codec for ARMv7 as well.
MX Player
MX Player Codec for ARMv7
Other than that I would've to know the file type and probably the source as well to give a better answer.

That's..will give that a try. I've downloaded a digital copy of a .wva file (windows media?) And wouldn't play.
Is there an app that can play windows media file?

Try with MX Player. It's from what I know your best option at the moment until VLC Media Player will be released for Android.
If it doesn't work you'll have to convert the file.

How to convert and to what format? Sorry newbie to this.

Do you already tried it with mx player?
If yes just google for something like
convert .wva to avi
I never used that file type myself so I don't know exactly what program you have to use.

Desktop Video Player

I have posted this in general as I suspect it applies to other phones as well.
My HTC Rose can record videos in wither MP4 or H.263 format and for this, it works.
But when I download these files onto my desktop PC, I am having trouble finding a video player that will play back video AND SOUND.
VLC (which normally supports anything) does not support the samr codec. Windows Media player can't even play Video.
Now to date the only thing I can find that plays these things is Quicktime player from Apple but this is one piece of software I really don't want on my PC so what is everybody else using out there to play the video files they take on their phones?
Thanks
Hy,
do you have testet ffplay or mplayer on your desktop pc?
Greatz

Moboplayer, free from the Market, does a nice job.
Rockplayer seems to work, thanks!
AVI, the container, is fine and Android should have no trouble with. But, there's also the codecs that the video data is encoded in, as well as the codecs for the audio data.
Those may or may not be supported, especially if they're older files using some ancient and crappy codec.
Edit: Bah, OP responded as I was writing this
I know this is an old thread but hopefully someone can still be patient and help me out.
I just recently got the TF101. I think it's the plan TF101, not the "G" version. I got it through a Groupon deal so it didn't have a lot of technical details.
I'm brand new to Android and I want to watch AVI files on the Transformer using a microSD card. I've downloaded a bunch of the usual suspects (MoboPlayer, BSPlayer, Rockpayer, VPlayer) and so far I like MX Player and Dice Player the best.
Here's the problem:
I've formatted the microSD on my iMac as FAT32 and added tv show folders. **Only SOME of the avi files play without any "read" errors** I know avi's can have all sorts of codecs but for my collection of Friends tv show I personally ripped all the episodes from a dvd set using Handbrake and used the same setting for all the videos. So why are some working flawlessly and other videos can't play at all?
Is there something that I'm missing that I need to do to make all my avi's compatible? Do I need to download something else aside from the ARM codecs req by each app? Is it because I'm using a non-brand microSD?
All help is appreciated... Thanks!

Hi, i too have been confronted to these .mkv files. Been told that they would be normal video format files but embedded with subtitles. Annyway, use VLC Media Player if on pc, and MX Player for Android. I loaded the standard "mx player" on Google Play. Should you face any issues, look up for the available codecs (aimed for diff. specific processors architecture) and take the one for your device. Got an ARMv7 and i didnt have to load the codecs up to now. Hope this help and didnt annoyed, kinda noticed the lenght of my thread just now...

[Q] Does the default video player support subtitles?

Hi.
I still haven't decided to buy this tablet yet. So I was wondering if the built in player displays subtitles embedded in mkvs, ass or similar files? I normally use moboplayer in order to play my soft-subbed videos on my cellphone since only a few players support this feature.
If this is not supported, is there another video player that supports this but also allows it be floating like the video player?
Thanks!

I believe that the default video player only accepts SRT subtitle file. MKV playback starts off a little bit slow but picks right up at normal speed after a few seconds.
In most of cases, it support srt. I had no problem on most movies, included mkv.
Try a app call BS player, its in the play store, I love it and it will search for the subtitles any movies you are watching..for you.

Use DICE player . It supports all subtitles and floating screen , and if subtitles are not synced properly but you don't have choice , this player can slow down subtitles or accelerate them during play .
