So can we all agree that tomorrow - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

We keep the hilariously witty 'Official OTA ICS release" posts to a minimum?

no...........

i dont understand the reason for this thread, but if you are implying that we are still anticipating the official ota release, the answer is yes. i mean who doesnt want an official version of a firmware. repetitive threads should also be limited, if thats what you are getting at.

I think he's referring to the fact that it's April Fools Day.. I could be wrong though.

Yeah, that's what I'm referring to. I'm loving some of the ones this year. Google went all out as usual (8bit Maps, Multitasking Chrome, Gmail Tap) but I really like Reddit's Time Machine. Some clever stuff is posted.

I want, No NEED... A Flux Capacitor, if you all hit the Thanks button... I'll take it upon myself, to venture into the future & return with the ZERO DAY o/s from the Google of the future

T-Mo testing 2.3 in the field?

OK, since I'm new to XDA I can't post a link (kinda understandable, but actually quite lame). Check on TmoNews.com
"Update: We believe this is a market specific opportunity for employees in an as of yet undetermined region. We have been unable to confirm this as a nationwide opportunity for frontline employees. Please don’t post your number or IMEI in the comments, or I’ll prank call you myself. Seriously.
While the mystery of the T-Mobile G2x inventory continues, the much anticipated Gingerbread update is about to get some love through employee testing. According to this internal email T-Mobile frontline employees who are currently using a G2x smartphone might qualify to test Gingerbread and it’s maintenance release on their own personal device. While there have been some rumors about a G2x Gingerbread update coming out this week or the next, with no current date set for this trial it seems likely we are still looking at some time before the update rolls out to the public. Of course we’ll update as we know more!"
Funny thing is I called Tmo about a data issue (seems it was network, not phone related in retrospect). Thing is while we were talking and I was mentioning various G2x issues, she said, "Looks like there is a gingerbread update we might be able to get you." Then a minute later said, "Actually we have no information to give you at this time."
Come on, someone get this uploaded to the masses!

Is Infuse 4G Development Dead or what?

Kinda curious what's going on here. Seems since mid-June there hasn't been much progress made on Infuse ROMs\mods. Is it that the phone is being somewhat swept under the rug in the shadow of the SGS II or is there just a bit of a waiting game to see if we'll get Gingerbread, or is the phone just not popular enough to develop for? From those I've talked to at @T&T, they say it's still their hottest phone as of July 1... so not sure why so quiet on here. Maybe it's just that since it's great out of the box people aren't as compelled to work on it?

I do think it's a combination of both the things you mentioned - a shadow of the SGS 2 coming up, as well as Gingerbread official release for the Infuse releasing anytime now. Even though I recently brought mine and personally love this phone, I am super curios to see SGS 2 in every day use. That massive home button format that Samsung has implemented, and done away with the search button which I've barely used 2wice ever, is sure to make it a better experience.
But I do think it's a bit premature to say that Development is dead for the Infuse. The 3 main ROM's are still being tweaked and fine tuned, voodoo sound and lag fix has been implemented, and some sort of stop-gap functional hulu is also working for some who've tried. All this for a phone that's barely a Month and a half old. Not bad I'd say.

Yeah, I guess I'm just comparing the experience to my last phone, the HTC Inspire 4G, which was a massive developer project right at release. I remember having 10 roms to chose from, half being gingerbread, a week after release, hehe.

whoa whoa.. cool your jets turbo! nobody attacked you. and where do you get off saying i attack every response? all i've done was defend myself in this thread. and i think i speak for most people who grow tired of seeing the same questions asked in multiple threads.. this is old news. your question has been asked many times already. my initial response was not meant to be offensive, but had you taken my advice you would've found your answer.
not to many simple features that we dont have already, other features may take a lot more development. you can make requests if you can think of some. i have been able to run the same rom for weeks without the obsessive need to flash the next new thing. i havent had that since andromeda on the captivate and that ended with the release of 2.3.3 i9000 based roms.
if we could get a kernel like glitterballs had on the captivate that used gpu hardware acceleration on the home screen and in all apps that would be cool but he never posted sources and it seemed to have issues with errors on ext4 but worked great if converted to jfs. i had my phone underclocked with that kernel and the battery lasted for days!. it also had unmatched boot up times.

I'm sure Bradbusa only said that because, from posts, devs are holding off because it would be pointless to develop these roms at this point. Devs have said in a few threads that they'd hate to work on too much, just for them to have to re-do everything for gingerbread.
Bradbusa could have offered a bit more, but I can say my first thought was to type what he said when I first saw the thread. Glad he stepped in that landmine and I didn't.

Patience young grasshopper.
Maybe I'm just too new to Android - but the Infused ROM is a fine piece of work that leaves you wondering, where to next? Others are probably right in that Gingerbread is the next step - a step much easier if we just wait for a leak or the Rogers phone.
I'm just hoping our devs stick around that long It seems like Android users upgrade phones pretty quickly...
Our devs will stick around. Everyone just needs to stop asking for ETA's and posting threads just like this one. Learn to chill out and wait OR learn to code and help the development process.
Have a happy 4th!

Discussion by Newbs for Newbs. SGS4g Only.

Ok guys So you own a SGS4g now what? Well lets just air out a few thing that get Devs absolutely fired up.
1) Requesting ROM features.
2) Ordering them to do something.
3) Repeatedly asking the same question.
4) Demanding
5) Complaining
6) Asking for a ETA on Alphas
7) Harassing
8) Threatening
I could keep going on about what makes them mad but there is already a thread about that. This thread is to Distract Noobs away from bugging the Devs by discussing ROMS with each other and answering each others questions that would normally bug Devs. Yes Devs are welcome here, but mainly this is thread to prevent Noobs from pestering the Devs about things that can be answered by other Noobs (or Google). Noobs feel free to ask, discuss, and converse away. Just remember flaming is bad so just don't do it. If you honestly don't understand the difference between positive criticism and negative then just don't criticise anyone. Better yet lets keep negativity to ourselves.
Lets get a few Questions out of the way.
Q) Does the SGS4g have an ICS ROM yet.
A) Yes There are several
Q) Who's fault is it if I brick my SGS4g?
A) YOURS, Obviously you failed to follow instructions.
Q) What's the difference between a soft brick and a hard brick.
A) One is ceramic and one is foam!! JK
DEFINITIONS you need know as a NOOB
NOOB A person only intent in serving on their own self interest.
Newb Person new to XDA
Member A person who has joined XDA
Dev Developer
RD recognised developer
MOD Modification/Moderator
ROM Read only memory
WIP work in progress
CWM Clock work mod recovery
Lol awesome and no offense but 8 threatening is worse than 1 lol just saying I'd rather have people request features than threatening me haha

on OTA ICS well google, all the electronics companies, and the air carriers made an 18 month agreement to upgrade all devices made in the last 18 months that can be upgraded. As to whether or not they abide by the agreement is up in the air. We have to wait until they are ready to update our phone, aka when S2 sales fall, before we see an upgrade. Its all about keeping us from buying a competitors phone.

Motorola got around that by stating certain devices will not operate any better on ICS than GB. There is many ways to get around that agreement. If there wasnt none of them would have agreed to it.

True but it's all about sales, if they feel that upgrading your phone will prevent you from buying the competitor, especially if the competitor releases a phone that is cheaper then their current market topper. It only makes perfect business sense if you can't sell them something new, prevent them from buying from someone else. If you have noticed that's why updates tend to always be released/leaked around the same time as a new competitors phone is released.
I would like to apologize to Lumin and fb I made and guide that was based off incorrect info, they stuck by there guns in correcting me. I was wrong as happens sometimes. The guide should be removed soon.

Pretty much everyone here who's a dev or wants to be one at some point are taking a look at these.
So, are these updates being found via Cheesecake or do the lucky ducks in China (or wherever) not divulge where they stumbled upon it?
Also, I've been checking Cheesecake for a couple of weeks now, but occasionally I'll get a "Connection Failed" window that wants me to select from three different choices... is that right or am I not doing something right?
Thanks in advance for your responses.

Most likely being leaked from Cheesecake, unless they know someone who works inside at Motorola.
As for the connection failed window, whenever I get that window I simply restart my phone and the message will not show up again for a while. That message shows up I believe if you overload their servers by trying to connect too many times in a given time period.

Please DON'T install any of these pre-release updates!
They really are not meant for "normal" use.
You are best to wait for one of us devs to create a stable ROM out of these updates for everyone to flash. Either that or wait about 2 more weeks and Motorola will release the real deal through the proper OTA channels. When we had the 2.3.6 leaks, it was about 2-3 weeks before the "Official" OTA came out.
If you flash this it has the potential to lock your phone down even more than it already is, that or make a brick out of it.
If you find an update the best thing to do is to upload it someplace like say dropbox... then post a post in the General section with the link to it, asking us devs to look it over.
If you don't have a dropbox space, see my signature, it is 100% free for 2.5GB of space, and if you refer people you get more free space.

Why didn't you call me for a sleep over bro?! Star trek, snack cakes, and your mom is hot. You're not my bff anymore!
This would definitely stop me from buy a Windows 8 phone. And I am getting one... somehow!!

You guys realize that you just look like security guards, right? No real power, but love to think you do by being sarcastic flamers. You're annoying for no other reason than to think you're somebody you're clearly not. You took time to be annoyed instead of continuing to scroll. Maybe if you left your parents' basement for an hour, you would realize how ridiculous you look to people with lives.
That being said I would love to see a port and will offer to add to the bounty. Thanks OP for getting this started.

Whether or not they are being like security guards, they are right about this going in general. As there is currently no actual development taking place, this is just a thread clogging the dev section. Until there is at least a preview build, this should be moved. Honest mistake by the op. Mod, please move or close the thread.

does anyone else see that the phone looks like it is a GS3 in a new shell (which i like very much)
I'd love to see a Windows 8 ROM on our phones. I played with a widows phone for a bit before I got rid of it and I really liked it

I mentioned this in one of the other threads, but the Ativ S was seen on the Verizon roadmap. I believe that would simplify some of the process in porting it.

Now, according to somebody in the HD2 forum, it would be difficult because, "the problem is going to be to hack the security and flash HSPL then magldr over that new bootloader." I've no clue what that means.

I agree, OP, you should change the title of the thread to include the word "bounty" in it. I would be willing to put $30 toward this if it can be done.
This Would be awesome if it happend.
