[ROM][5-April] Sprint - HTC Arrive - Tango Port - Cooked Rom - HTC 7 Pro

This is basically a stock mango shipped rom with tango(7.10.8773.98) features added.
Not unlocked or customized in any way.
English, Sprint only rom.
You must have an unlocked bootloader to load this rom.
This will not overwrite your HSPL.
I plan on releasing a custom version, but this version will let you test the new features.
Warning: I am unsure what the Zune updatablilty will be with this version, so make sure you have a backup plan.
Warning: Flashing this rom is risky and may void your warranty, I am not responsible for any damage using this rom may cause.

If this is for the HTC Arrive nice.If you want a idea of what you should put look at the 7 pro roms so you can get a idea(like option to map what the search button does etc...)

yeah it's for the arrive... i have a working port but it's from someone else's rom and I'd like to do my own. i have some ideas but wanted to get a feel for everyone's wants

If you can somehow find a way to kill the 160 character limit in SMS that would be very nice. I have spent hours searching through registry edits looking for the solution but haven't found it yet. That and have it come loaded with Bazaar please!

The trophy doesn't have this problem and its a cdma wp7 device.
I admit thats the biggest bs with this phone now.

Exactly that. HTC Arrive is the only WP7 phone that cannot go past the 160 character limit in SMS. But you can type up to 1000 characters in MMS I believe. Which some people do as a crude way of fixing it. But nonetheless it'd be great if you could figure out how to get rid of that 160 character limit

Full landscape support... Good luck.

Nice work!
Nice to see some development in the sprint arrive section!
Is there a nice backup app yet for unlocked wp7 devices that everyone is using?

Any news on an unlocked ROM sometime in the near future?

Nice. You plan on adding anything else in the unlocked version?

im thinking a stock tango with the unlock, and then a loaded version with all the bells n whistles

EDIT: Flashing the rom. will update with any bugs as I find them

I'm assuming since this is a straight "stock" Tango port that tethering is not enabled?

Thanks. I'll have to hold out for when it is. I can't afford to flash and lose that. lol

Yep, the only thing I need in a custom Arrive rom is Unlock and Tethering, I believe anything else is just fluff that may in a way break the rom in one way or another. I can do any of the Reg Tweeks I want myself. (BT Audio for Video and max quality mainly).
Unlike roms of the old Windows Mobile days, the stock OS works great out of the box, so messing with things outside of the device (especially one as unique as the CDMA devices now) is not a good idea IMO until things become more standard and tested. Sadly with such little interest in CDMA devices as of yet, we don't have a lot of experience to go off of yet.
(The WiFi issue with the DFT rom is annoying but bypassable. WiFi On, Cellular Data off, Reverse when needed.)

Thanks for all of your hard work in creating this ROM! I was able to use it as a base for my first attempt at cooking my own WP7 ROMs. I got Internet Sharing and full unlock enabled, but the Sprint Zone app and the Marketplace both give me errors about not being able to connect and that apps cannot be installed for my carrier. Have you had any better luck adding features to yours?

I agree.
Tethering is the mot important thing. This HTS T7575/Arrive is the first phone I've owned in 12 years (since I've started owning phones) that could not tether. It's sad. Sprint blames HTC. HTC blames Sprint. I''s actually Sprint, but c'mon. . . I digress.
My favorite ROM of the Windows Mobile days was this on http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/cdma-tp-d...om-6-5-x-23563-23138-21914-kitchen-clean.html

just got a new X05HT. A few observations

This was just released in Japan today. Anyway, I just upgraded to it and just want to say it (so far) seems like a nice upgrade from my old X01HT. (which I will miss, though).
The box is the usual Softbank white square (boring) box. Accessories include a charger, mini-usb headphone jack converter, spare stylus and a leather (non-magnetic!) case. No headphones are included; nor a micro SD card
When it is first booted there is about data: 271 MG free (322); Programs: 130 MG free (200)
Included software:
the usual, + mp3 trimmer, cleavevue presentation, jetcet print 5, navitime, quckmark, rss hub -
Nice points:
-The camera takes nice photos (seem to be nice and clear with no blur indoors; can't wait to try it outdoors)
-There are front and rear cameras
-The default rom seems nice (in Japanese of course). There seems to be no way to change it to English though.
-Touch Flo 3D does not seem to suffer from any lag (yet) and the overall speed seems good.
-Included mail program (Softbank mail) is a huge upgrade from the old Softbank mail which was included with the X01HT! It does not seem to suffer from lag or other issues.
Bad Points:
None, yet! ;-) If I find any you can be sure I will update this.
Anyway, I will play around with it for a few days and then attempt to flash to an English rom....

How about the SIM lock?
/mek
Do you mean the X05HT?
I have not had time to check whether it is sim locked or not (I suspect it is).
I did hard spl flash it though -- no problem. Now at least we can upgrade the rom.
Ah, speaking of which, when upgrading I would love to have the new Japanese IE that is used in the original Japanese rom - I suspect that it won’t be too long before somebody like Askul comes up with a cab; it is much better than current solutions, and allows for word prediction when using English, for example.
Likewise, if the Softbank mail settings could be exported, that would be great. Softbank mail in this rom uses a modified version of Arcsoft's MMS ver. 5. (Settings seem to be hidden/unavailable).
Things I have noticed with the Softbank rom after 24 hours:
-slows down periodically (even after manila tweaks)
-Music skips a lot
So, it does look as though I will be upgrading as soon as I can to a better rom.... only wish there was a better mms solution....
damn... yeah, I did mean the x05ht..

I had so much payments left from my X01T that I opted for getting a new SIM and paying for the phone. It was 49.140 yens. So now I ended up with my fifth SIM from SoftBank, they told me that is the max number one can have. So I hope they do not come up with a better phone soon now

That was the first thing I checked when I got home; yes it is SIM locked. But then I did not expect anything else from SoftBank so I was not actually disappointed.

Can you dump the current rom before you start flashing? I don't think I've seen it any where else.
I am actually dumping it as we speak.
Also, see the following thread, regarding Japanese IME. I think that flinx1 is going to try and extract the IME from the Softbank rom and make a .cab.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=445550&page=2&highlight=x05ht
Anyway, I will go ahead and upload the raw files as soon as I have finished the dump.
Cheers!
Yea I just saw that you dumped it in that thread. Thanks a lot!
Here is the full rom, all four raw parts. Please note I seemed to have problems with par3. It gave some error which I don't remember, although it did seem to dump the file OK. Please let me know if there are problems with par3 and I will try and redo it.
(pending) somebody told me to remove par3 because it may contain sensitive user information. I will do so and re-post. In the meantime if you did download it, then please ignore any of my personal stuff. ;-)
I'm going to be upgrading next week. Do you know if it ran any dodgy stuff on first run? (Like the X01HT white model did?)
How about the back of the case, is it the bumpy one as shown on Softbank's site, or smooth?
Hey mate, it is sort of rubbery (like the original touch pro case, I think).
There are pictures here: (it seems exactly the same as the softbank one).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=455650
And yeah it did run a lot of s**t on first start-up. It takes about five minutes to complete. After that, your phone is locked for life! NOT. Go here and PM for instructions on how to unlock.

If for any reason the phone has to be send back for repairs or some such is there a way to simlock it again? I guess SoftBank would not be very happy receiving unlocked phone (you see I am only worrying about their feelings )
Also won't flashing a new rom lose all the SB settings? I am mostly worrying about the access numbers for internet use as the last time I used my foreign bought Nokia I ended up with 120.000 yen bill for a month's usage...

There are ways to get the softbank connection going for the x01ht. See this. I guess it might work (havent tried it myself)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=441400
(edit: seems that it might not work) but see here (post 35) for more on the x04ht and a possible solution to getting softbank settings working: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...ighlight=x04ht
It is more that I need input that allows for word prediction (as in the default rom) - in both Japanese/English). With the asukal solution you lose this feature.... there seem to be a few people working on various solutions but nothing has eventuated yet.
Oh, and I did flash it once -- just for fun. It did not seem to make the device any snappier compared to the original anyway. I guess it might be better to wait for somebody to find a solution to the "performance issue":

I am completly new to this so please excuse my ignorance... I am from japan and i had the X02HT... and i absolutly fell in love with it.... now my contract is up and i want to upgrade to the X05HT with softbank.... after reading some of the post i came to the conclusion that it does not have english region settings... my question is once i flash the rom will i be able to have the menus in english... and also will the SMS and S!Mail still work...? I really want this phone but if this is not possible then i will have to resort to the X03HT.. please help!
patiently waiting a response!

Are the Epic 4G developers gonna work on getting the Samsung apps back on the Epic?

For example, is it possible to get the Samsung Music app ported, possibly the lock screen, Daily briefing, etc.?
We can keep the swype though, it has the voice speech button so leave that be
I was wondering this same thing. I think someone needs to make a ROM that is truly "Epic" with all the Galaxy S features, just like you said along with Social Hub as well.
Someone up to the challenge?

I think I remember seeing that the Epic has like an in-between version of TouchWiz, like 2.5 almost, mainly because it would have been a lot of work to do the rotating homescreen, I think that was from Android Central, and then like TechCrunch or someone. I'm not sure. Correct me if I am wrong. Although the latter piece did mention that although neither Samsung or Sprint would confirm this, the Epic would be getting TouchWiz 3.0 with the Froyo update. Let's just hope so. Personally, I like to get my own apps, and use stock Android.

I'm no expert, and my development experience is limited to "Hello World" apps, but from what I do know, there is probably a custom framework with API calls in 3.0, that the Epic version doesn't have. Don't quote me on that though. I was depressed about the default media player and other TouchWiz issues too, but it is still miles ahead of the Hero, so I am going to be there on day 2 (because my upgrade isn't until the 1st of September, but I will be getting to the store before 6pm on that day to pick up my reserved unit, even though it is an hour a way from where I live).

I'm not too worried about it. I'm not going to fret on the differences between the Epic and the others. What I'm looking forward to more is a unrevoked forever type solution for the Epic, more than I am a root for it. No worries about installing OTA updates that may block root.
If you use a forever root on your phone, does that mean that even you can't unroot it? What if your phone needs repair at a Sprint store? Can you unroot?

There would be no way for them to know unless they tried to do something that required root access. Also, RUU's can alter forever root, but not OTA updates since they don't touch the radio, but RUU's can. Technically, you could RUU back and lockup the bootloader I believe, but I don't know. Technically, with the N1, you don't void warranty by unlocking the bootloader alone, you have to do something dumb, like flash a radio for a mytouch3g or something to void it.

Well the thing is, we have to wait n see what bootloader it has, if it the old one or the one that we can downgrade, then we can root, and if we can root, ummm im pretty positive we can flash any rom from the Desire HD rom section.

I already have a root procedure in mind that I think will work. The HBOOT doesn't matter - the exploit in the newer HTC devices was not in the HBOOT. But the radio version does.

Momentarily. The Aria will still need support for CM. I'm it. This device is established and has good support already. We just need to document the procedure to root and get custom recovery on it, which will be a little more complex than the Euro DHD.
regoice, the great and mighty attn1 has come to the inspire, not sure if its a good thing or not as i still am using my aria but.... oh well.
I will have this phone when it comes out on the 13th, looking forward to some modding. I'm coming from an iphone, JB, customized etc, it's no longer any fun. Hope the roms work and the root is easily attainable, I will be back in here when i get the phone....5 days
I will be getting one of these on launch, though I'm not sure if stores are going to have the phone for a more expensive price than what's shown online. I'm coming from an HTC Fuze and this will be a big improvement for me....now I'll have a nice shiny new gadget to sleep with.
I'm hoping that by some stroke of luck I'll get one that allows sideloading but if not, there are ways around that....I don't like my devices being locked in any way. How long does it generally take to root new phones when they're out? I'm new to Android (been a WM person for quite a few years now) so I'm still trying to read as much as I possibly can about the OS and how it works.

The complexity of rooting is dependent on the device.

All signs point to yes, undoubtedly we are going to blow this Inspire 4G up with root goodness, then once we get a custom recovery BAM! custom roms are soon to come after that. Overclocking the phone will yield results similar to Dual Core devices as posted by me in another thread.

I have the phone as of this afternoon, already put a full body shield so I cant play with it as much as Id like to however.

Nice! Just got the HTC Arrive!

So I got it and I'm very happy with it. What are the first things I should do?

When you've setup all your accounts?
First thing to do would be to get it syncing with Zune on the PC, that'll also pull down any updates that are outstanding.
Then I went ahead and started installing all the apps that I'd researched prior to buying - ones I use daily are:
BBC News Mobile
Weather4Me
Amazon Kindle
Turn-by-Turn Navigation
Night Stand Clock Lite
HTC Youtube (is WAY better than the standard app)
To be honest, Windows Phone requires so little by way of setting up that you can probably safely start playing around with the settings, setting up live tiles/bookmarks in the browser, and generally making it your own!
I was pretty much done setting mine up within 2 hours...
For the YouTube app I'd look at either SuperTube or LazyWorm's YT app. Both have their merits. LazyWorm's seems to have the faster interface, but SuperTube has downloading of videos for offline playback.
Can't say I've tried anything beyong HTC's YouTube app, it works perfectly well and as a bonus even has a resume function so you can start where you left off..
One thing I did forget to say: Don't forget to setup security! A SIM PIN and device lock code are always recommended, and also, check out http://windowsphone.live.com where you can track, lock, and ring your phone if it gets lost or stolen.
The Arrive is CDMA, there is no sum.

Err? I presume you mean SIM, in which case I wouldn't know, but I'd assume there would be some alternative security measure.
It's generally good advice for the significantly larger number of GSM phones though. The Arrive is also not the only version of the 7 Pro

Reading through all the links you posted, none of this will help unlock a HTC Arrive since there is no Pre NoDo rom for the Arrive. Unless I am missing something. :/
The best thing aside from unlocking for now (which will be coming post nodo for what $19?) is to upgrade to the Mango Beta.
Hmm, but what is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1142120 ? This is NoDo for Arrive or not ?
BTW install HSPL: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16189671#post16189671 and install customROM 7713: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1205111

You need a pre NoDo rom for the Chevron unlock you posted. There are none for the Arrive since it was released with NoDo installed.
The HSPL link specifically states that it does not support the HTC Arrive. Do not try it on an HTC Arrive or you could mess it up:
This release does NOT support these WP7F devices:
*GoldC (Arrive)
*SparkW (Trophy Verizon)
These devices are not supported because they are missing at the current moment in DFT team. Please don’t even try to use this release with them – it may brick your phone or make it unusable.

Yes, you right. I forgot about DFT not support Arrive.
What is wrong with the people on here? You don't NEED to jailbrake the thing, and if you do what the hell did you buy it for!?

USA ICS release - T-Mobile/HTC update

Full article from Android and Me
HTC has delivered a ROM to us however it is still having issues the reason that other sensation types have the update without issue and ours did not come out that way is because every ROM must be adapted to the hardware of the device because we use a different radio than other providers and also have applications such as wifi calling it also has to be compatible with those. What the HTC rep told you is most likely correct because once a ROM is delivered we have 2 weeks to test it and then approve it or send it back they then have 4 weeks to fix the bugs and return it back to us, where we are exactly in that process I do not know but that is how a ROM is delivered to the customer.
The original ROM was not delivered to us in November, we started testing it just recently but I think it has been longer than 2 weeks so at this point HTC most likely has the ball.
You bought a phone and it has been announced that you are getting ICS you have every right to know what’s going on with it and when you can see these awesome features. I did go into a lot of detail about how a ROM gets to the end user (you guys) but that wasn’t to point fingers only so you would have a better understanding of why you don’t have it yet, the bottom line is the Sensation has T-Mobile’s and HTC’s name all over it and both companies want to make you proud to be a Sensation owner so we are working as fast as we can to deliver it but also want to make sure that it stands up to your expectations.

A fairly meaty update that helps explain the process, the holdup and a possible time frame for when we might see the release.
So T-Mobile can't get their WiFi Calling and other bloatware to work, but our custom ROM chefs don't seem to have a problem?
Thank God for our chefs!!!

It seems that HTC can't get the Wifi calling to work within spec. It didn't work the first time and TMO told HTC that they needed to work on it some more. It's going back and forth between TMO and HTC.
And no offense to our devs here, but lets be realistic. Our roms here aren't without their issues. Ie. wifi calling still crashing, mms not working, proximity sensor issues, wifi issues, bt issues, etc. but the positive is that the roms here get better than their respective base.

Now I don't think that's fair our devs don't have the resources tmob has and we are ahead of them with 4.0 almost working and got 60 3.6 roms out there if one dev had what HTC had or tmobl we be in next stage ics 4.0 is far from last Rom this phone will do
I do think HTC watches this as do all phones and leak so they have free help

I don't think it's fair that the devs don't have access to the same resources that tmo and htc have either. If they did we would probably also have perfect 'native' ports of Samsung's, Sony's, and Moto's UIs, lol. it is what it is. the devs have improved on what's been released (although, I would like to see a rom that emphasizes stability instead of tweaks - Maybe I'll take a crack at it if I can find enough time, we'll see).
As far as free help is concerned... I don't know how much work they actually take off XDA (although, i'm sure it's happened, i feel like it's little). The X10 (in which I had a little previous experience) had a number of things fixed that's never (and never will be) fixed in any official rom.
but the original point was to contradict this statement: "our custom ROM chefs don't seem to have a problem" and "So T-Mobile can't get their WiFi Calling and ...". There are issues and it's not just TMO but HTC can't fix wifi calling in a timely manner. Just trying to dispel inaccuracies (IMHO).
I would rather have a clean ROM straight from HTC without T-Mobile adding junk to it anyway, including WiFi calling...
Well what it is that tmobl locked the phone up so it can't use att making HTC redo there **** its out everywhere but here in us
Looks like a corp had a hand trying to block the progress of something with hardware changes and bloatware I would love a Rom from HRC or google with out tmob trash but I am not on tmob now so I have no bloat lol

Speak for yourself, my friend.
I'm using bluetooth, video recording, wifi, wifi calling, all cell radio features, proximity working find, light sensor as well.
I don't mms. I gmail.
So. The devs and chefs are doing a FANTASTIC job, especially with these kernels.
Just like i tell everyone in every single rom forum for the sensation. T-Mobile's Wifi calling is just useless bloatware that is a program easy as hell for, supposed amazing techs of their caliber to make and now we have to wait for official Ics due to an app that don't work stock or rooted. Everytime i use wifi calling, and yes on stock, all i get is" HUH,WHAT DID YOU SAY, I CANT HEAR YOU",. And thats why it also rarely works in roms. It's not HTC's fault T-Mobile has a shi%$ program that is useless out the box. Wouldn't be useless if it ever worked. And now we have to wait for Ics because of it.

Ditto. I've been on ARHD for three weeks and I have not looked back. I haven't found anything that doesn't work.

Wifi calling is a great feature. I never have problems with voice quality. Maybe your interner sucks.

I agree Wifi calling is not perfet but for me it is a must. I use it when I'm overseas and in basements where I can't get reception. My friends who have iphones are jealous because they have to go to the first floor to get reception and make calls.
We are not getting the official update until tmobile makes sales on the one-s ..it will probably be in May when we see the update..good thing I have a nexus with 4.0.4..**

^ Likewise I depend on wifi calling. I'll pass on the other bloatware, but this isn't an optional app for me. I'm afraid that I've had no consistent luck with the ROMs available here.
I suspect that will change once T-Mobile has released their ICS update with a working configuration and (possibly) an updated app. In the meantime, I am content to wait.
It's based on my opinion.**

WiFi calling is not bloatware to people who use it. I use it everyday at home. There's no way I can make or receive call without it. I also use it every time I'm overseas. For me, WiFi calling is a must. That's why I don't dare play around different roms for fear of messing up the WiFi calling feature. I can also wait for the official update with a working WiFi calling.
