ok...i help you!!!!
if u need costly and great phone....go for htc sensation xe...
if u want mid range device....go for samsung galaxy ace!!!!...gud luck.
Galaxy s2. Fo show. But make sure you're getting the one with the exynos chipset, not the snapdragon.
you can choose GSS2 for android or perhaps Nokia Lumnia for w7.... it's your choice.
SGS2 is also good.
I think it greatly depends on how soon you want to change your phone. April - May is the time when a lot of the phone companies start rolling out their latest phones. If you are looking at last generation, I would say either the Sensation XE or the Galaxy SII. As far as i know, both of them have been upgraded to ICS.
HTC has a pretty good interface with their Sense, but it tends not to be very optimized, and it is common to suffer from an exceptionally short battery life (perhaps one day with minimal to moderate use).
On the other hand, the Galaxy SII is hardware wise quite a beast, and AMOLED screen is impressive. I have issues with the design of touchwiz and the physical button at the bottom of the phone annoys me. Other than that, it has quite the battery life, so it evens out.
looking at this gen, the HTC one x is very powerful, and is meant to be HTC's flagship phone, so i'm curious why no one mentioned it. besides that, Asus entered the market with the padfone, which seems to have potential, but we have to wait and see if it will be as good as they claim. last is the samsung galaxy SIII. my vote is to wait till samsung announces its new flagship phone (rumored to be 22 may), and then decide from there.
Since you are in xda developers, i'm assuming you are not very interested in the interface anyway so just go for the one with the best computing power, and best battery.
if you are going for wp7 phones, just wait for lumia 900. the 800 looks rather sad.
of course there's always the iphone 4s or the iphone 5 if you are willing to wait till september.

I was actually thinking about getting the Sensation XE or the Galazy S2. HTC devices seem to have a lack of battery life which is why I'm leaning more towards the S2. As for the new gen of phones the only one I am really interested in is the HTC One S. As much as I would like a quad core processor in my phone, it may be very battery consuming. Not interested in iOS or WP7 so that rules those phones out. Guess I will wait untill the One S is released to see the price of the phone in comparison to the S2
HTC One X, not quite out yet, but it is incredible.
Love the HTC Sensation XE <3
Skyrocket
I love my Galaxy 2II Skyrocket, fastest and best phone I've owned in years. Flashed sky ice to it and its absolutely unbeatable.

Hi my question is:
Do you think that HTC will deliver another 'superphone' this year?
Thinking about Q4 2011? Maybe this phone will be better than the Samsung Galaxy SII ?
Maybe it will just be worth waiting!!
Because at the event in London when they presented the HTC Sensation they said more to come this year!!!!
Please leave your opinion here! Thankyou!
Dude relax!
The Sensation is already better than the SGS2, check the upgraded screen resolution...
I am already meditating haha
The point is: The specification is better in the Samsung Galaxy SII but the HTC sense UI is much more attractive and I own the HTC HD2, I really like the HTC's. To bad the specifications are not so good compaired with the SII.
HTC chose not to release the HTC Sensation at the conference in Barcelona this year but couple months later.
Maybe they will bring out the phone that can replace the HD2 ! Because the HTC HD2 was a real NO BRAINER... THE first with a 4.3 inch screen and the best phone for a full year, because the specs of new phones could not compete with the HTC HD2.

Dude, open your eyes! You have just pointed out the only advantage the Sensation has over the SGS2... And all in all, the SGS2 still has the better screen
Dude on a 4.3'' screen it's very important to have this new resolution whatever you have super extra modular amoled plus beta
Both have dual core cpu
Both have 8mp, even dual led for Sensation
Sense 3.0 beat the hell out of touchwiz
I don't care if there are 2% more speed in games lol.
Now I just hope HTC will let us root it and that they upgraded the loudspeaker
Don't get me wrong, I used to be a huge fan of HTC. I currently happily own one. I just think they've lost their touch and are not "innovative" anymore.
Sense 3.0 versus TouchWiz 4.0 is a matter of taste and even though both have dual core CPU and 8MP cameras, Samsung's are significantly better.
The screen may have an improved resolution, but being a pentile matrix it doesn't really make it outstanding. Plus the fact that it's a wider format (16/9) which means less lines of text when reading a web page in landscape mode.
Also the Samsung should have a way better battery life (thanks to the lower consumption screen and CPU).
The dual band Wifi on the Samsung is an interesting point for me as I have dual band routers, and the 5GHz band is faster. The Sensation is single band Wifi, bummer.
Out of the box, there's 16Gb of storage on the Samsung versus 1Gb on the HTC. The Samsung includes all sorts of codecs for audio and video, including mkv. Hello HTC, are we in 2011?
HSPA+ is 21Mbps for the Samsung versus 14.4Mbps for the HTC.
USB host is nowhere to be found in the HTC, is supported by the Samsung.
Audio output quality will be presumably better in the Samsung (wolfson chip).
Should I go on? I have only listed the advantages that are really quantifiables, not just "okay it's 2% faster"...
Sorry dude, HTC is no longer the leader of high-end smartphones it used to be...
So you don't believe HTC will launch a super hot phone in Q4 2011?
I really hope so! Although my plan is finished in August. I am still breaking my head which phone to take? HTC Sensation or the Samsung Galaxy SII.
At this moment I am wondering if there is better to come this year, Worth waiting...
Or should I make a choice? Don't forget I am still owning a HD2 with Android NAND.
Can't wait for both to come to the market and then hear what people say about the phones!!!
Samsung Galaxy S II is already out in UK mate, you can check feedbacks at GSII forums. From what first owners says, it seems perfect really. It's almost fishy as it ticks all boxes.
I have pre-ordered it and will get my hands on it in a week or so, I'll also give the HTC Sensation a shot on may 12th as I'm due to an upgrade so I might give you some feedbacks then
Well apparently there will be a better super hot phone in 2011, according to Eldar Murtazin (Mobile Review) the Samsung Galaxy S III should be released in autumn and is the mother of all phones (iPhone5 competitor).
Don't expect anything but minor improvements/variants from HTC this year as compared to the Sensation.
So if you're not in a hurry, wait for the Galaxy S III. Otherwise just get the Galaxy S II now (it's released in UK and South Korea, other countries to follow shortly)
Thanks for the info. HTC should be the one to bring out the follow up phone for the HD2. They not really did that yet and they know that HD2 was a big succes. The HD Desire is still oldskool. The next generation phones are all with dual core!! I must say: I really hope HTC brings news about some asesome phone coming this Q4 2011.
I really believe in this.
Samsung Galaxy II is already great... can't see III coming soon.
HTC is letting me down at the moment, My girlfriend has the galaxy s, I still prefere HTC though... what to do?

Yep......I couldn't have said that better myself
So I should forget about HTC and HTC SENSE...?
I think touchwizz 4.0 is not so cool as sense 3.0.
HTC is so good in simplicity. They bring their product and the phone is really made to suit you. See all the videos they made for HTC sensation!
HD2 is not a device like other, it's really a computer!
Do you know any phone that can dual boot wm7 and Android?
They could even put ios it wouldn't shock me
HD2 was originally dedicated for wm6.5 only, so if HTC want to launch an HD3 it will be officially for wm7.
I think you mean you want a replacement for the DHD
I want a super android phone!!!! But I don't think their will be better phones this year!
I still thinking, what should I do? My heart says buy the sensation but my brains say buy the SII.... So what to do?
well I think HTC "gave" us the phones for this year.. maybe in the end they will have something new, but what'll be better? maybe 1GB Ram and w/e.. I mean, even the heaviest games to Android dont really need 1GB to work really good.. just keep your phone clean and 768MB and great Sense will do the work.
Also in my opinion, the SGS II is ugly compared to HTC . (Some of the phones of HTC.. like the Desire and Sensation).
I agree for the design, the sgs2 is a pale copy of the old iphone while HTC have their own design and more specially I love the rubber feel at the back
The pro and the cons... between the 2: Samsung wins.
But I just have to wait to see what people say about those phones!
I think I would still go for the HTC Sensation, but if I don't like the design in real life well then it will be the SII.
Htc France did confirm that an Gsm version of the Evo 3d would be available but gave no dates. Hopefully it will arrive Q4! Fingers crossed

As I said earlier you can check feedback about GSII from now. For Sense UI it is better than touchwizz and if it is the only thing that makes you do a compromise when considering the GSII then well a little birdie told me that there may be a solution to fix that... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzhtziHD7IY (it is an alpha and it is already running smoother than any HTC to date because of the better hardware of the GS)
SII still beats the EVO 3D. So it suppose to be a new phone from HTC. I need a leak!! Hahaha somewhere it must be clear what kind of phone they will bring out in Q4 2011.
Hello all, I'm starting this to get opinions of what people think is the best android phone and the reasons they think it's the best. I'm looking to get a new phone and would like other peoples input on what phone is best, since there are a lot of options available. I know everything is an opinion when it comes to a phone. Just say what you think the biggest pros are and the biggest cons are. Admin, If I started this thread in the wrong place apologize!
I've had 3 android phones, all with t mobile. The G1, nexus one and the samsung galaxy s(vibrant). I still have all of them!
Now in my opinion the nexus one has been the best for installing modified ROM'S, With the least amount of issues and ease of unlocking with all hardware working. The downside is the screen size and the flipping power button keeps breaking!
Now my second option is the samsung galaxy s. I like the dimensions of the phone and the screen size is awesome. But with modified kernels and a crappy GPS antenna you still have GPS issues.
So come one come all, leave your input let's see what phone you think is the best on the market today!

specially the SGS2 HD version
The Galaxy Nexus.
HTC Wildfire S
I was also thinking on the same lines... tho I think people should be careful as to what their suggesting... I don't think this thread is based on "what phone do you own, hence think is the best "... because I'm sure as **** the Wildfire S is by far not even close to the best android... maybe the best cheap android phone... but definately not the best...
If you think a phone is the best... then why do you think so... you need to have a valid reason...
As far as I'm concerned I want to change phones as well... at the moment the S2 seems to be at the top of the hill... I was sure I would get the galaxy nexus but after seeing the utterly disappointing specs... a crappy camera, no expandable memory, and a TI processor rather than a exenos is just a major letdown...
Tho in the upcoming phones seems the Droid Razr is supposed to be a beast and the S2 HD seems to be awesome... but iit looks like will need to wait a while for them... not to.mention the s2 HD will only be released in Korea...??? :s
Its actually quite strange phones are getting bigger and bigger... they just wont seem to fit in pockets soon... I thought a 4 inch screen is perfect... tho 4.2 is really pushing it... but 4.6... I'm not really into wearing clothes twice my size to be able to fit my damn phone in my pocket
What does anyone suggest based on facts... wait for the nexus... or the S2 HD... or just go for the S2...

I've favored HTC phones. I've personally owned the Droid Inc, Inc2, and the moto Droid. I've had my hands on quite a few different ones. I think the Inc Is my favorite . Samsung has good phones, but I like the HTC's better.
XDA App. DInc 2 PoWeReD
Best android phone ever? As an early adopter I'd say the g1, that thing was supported for a looooong time given the average lifespan of android phones, the form factor, while thick, is still one of the coolest to date with android, and I believe you could get it all the way to gingerbread despite being a severely dated device. Next to the HD2 it is my favorite tinkering phone. The best right now, likely the gs2, I don't have much love for the current devices but the hardware on the razr is looking pretty sexy. I have a thing for thin phones. That's why my next device will be a Nokia 800 but that's a story for another thread.
Tl;dr? G1, GS2, razr droid.
For someone like you just get a Galaxy S ii and call it a day.

Galaxy Nexus easy.... duh.... haha
Please thank me if I helped.
well it depends upon what specs you want to have(and brag about).
IMO, there's no such thing as 'best Android phone' because having the 'best' phone is always subjective.
If you want the highest specs on a phone, you can look at the flagship phones.
If you want to be unique, choose a less well-known brand.
If you want to customise, there's plenty.
If you want to have a good-looking UI, SE arc or ray would do
mine.
lol
So I'm done with the sensation, all the "remove all sense, add fast in topic title" devs (no offence, but I personally think there's too many of this already).
I'm now thinking of getting a Gal Nex, only because of the AOSP development over there. but I am a little worried it might be slower than my sensation (1.5ghz vs 1.2, anyone? and the gpu?)
So in your honest opinion, do you think an upgrade to the gal nex is okay?
(btw, please don't go "if you didn't like sense and want aosp why did you buy the sensation. I got this because of the hardware, not some crappy sluggish UI HTC made.)

Galaxy nexus is not an upgrade from sensation, it is a side grade. It's better in some ways but worse in others.

As above poster said, it's a "side-grade" rather than an upgrade. It's most likely that cpu doesn't make that much noticable difference: 1.2 should be enough to run contemporary apps (they're usually designed to be compatible with slower phones, hence why iPhone can get away with underclocking for instance), especially since you don't game. Ditto for the GPU. This should also lead to better battery life - along with having a more powerful battery, of course.
That said, there are a lot of quirks with the Nexus itself (and, to some extent, Samsung's handling of it). Camera, MTP USB protocol only, nonremovable SD card, question of whether car dock will ever be made. Make sure you research and are happy with all of them before buying.
It's been a few months, so the Nexus should be getting pretty cheap. I would get it for at most $600 U.S. Price promotions often come out here, though I'm not sure about in your geographical location.
I assume you know about the alternatives showcased in MWC that are coming out in a few months. Huawei Ascend D (the "fastest phone") is rumored to come with stock ICS for example. Galaxy Nexus is still probably the best bet right now for longer term dev support, however.

There are some amaizing development on diffrent kernels on the GN. So with a costum kernel you will brobably not feel like it´s going slower atleast...
Well, the Galaxy Nexus is a great phone, so is all of the Galaxy lines and it's variants.
But it is rumored that the S3 will come out within 6 months. If you have patience wait for that
If not go with the Galaxy Nexus, or Galaxy S2.
Personally an Infuse 4g User (Variant of the S2).
I really wouldnt get the Nexus and go for the S2 or wait a month or two for the Htc one X and im sure there will be AOSP roms for it soon
The one X looks like a beast even with the htc sense on it
The Galaxy Nexus is an awesome buy, the trouble with always waiting is that you end up buying nothing
As said its a side grade, but you get the benefit of quick novelty updates. Personally I would wait for A15 cored phones instead.
$1 gets you a reply
And this is why I bought my Nexus before MWC ...

YES YES YES, nexus ALWAYS gets support from google no matter what, for about 2 years. The one thing I have witnessed with android is horrible support and update timelines for every phone other than the nexus line. Plus if you're not happy, the nexus always has a rather big dev community
there are some really good changes in the new one so I think its better to go for a new one if you really like
As the topic states, which would you do and why? Keep using a G2x and wait to see if something nicer than the One S releases in the near future, use an available upgrade and get the grey One S when T-Mo releases it/wait for them to release the MAO version, or burn the upgrade on a SGSII.
Sent from my stock, rooted LG-P999WA using XDA Premium
The SGSIII is probably right around the corner. That's pretty much the only other phone that will trump the One S at the point. So the question to ask yourself is if you want the One S or the SGSIII.
The last thing you want to do is use your upgrade on an SGSII. If anything sell your G2X and buy an SGSII on eBay.
If only HTC would bring out the One S with 32Gb!
I'm still enjoying my original desire but really don't think I could have any less memory than my 16Gb card. I don't want a phone any bigger than the S. So come on HTC Surely they'd fly out the door, seems a pretty perfect phone in just about every other area.

Go for the one S, i mean the specs on the S3 would look promising but the design of Samsung phones are blah.
I went for the One S, haven't got it yet but don't think I'll regret the decision.
The Galaxy S3 is probably going to have an even larger screen than the S2 had, making it more of a competition for the One X - and way too large for my taste (in fact, the One S is almost too large with 4,3", too, but there's just nothing smaller out there with decent hardware anymore). I've always preferred Sense to TouchWiz, and never much liked Samsung phones in general, even though the Galaxy S2 seems to have brought massive improvements in quality and buyer satisfaction over their earlier offerings.
i was originally also waiting for the gs3 but after mwc i was obsessed with the one s. after having i for 4 days now i don't regret the decision. the cpu is extremly fast and the build quality and design of the device is just extraordinary. samsung's devices on the otger side always fail to impress me on those two points... i prevoiusly had a galaxy s which is a good device but in contrast to the one s it felt cheap and looked ugly...

Hello,
maybe stupid question. Maybe it was already answered.
Is it worth to upgrade from Desire S to Galaxy S 3 ? In slovakia, it costs 465 EUR.
I'm planning to buy a new phone. Should i buy S3, or wait for something new ? However, i don't plan to buy phone for 700 EUR. About 500 euros is my top limit.
What do you think ?
One is a small, old phone, will old camera, but it does everything quite well.
The other one is a huge new phone that's a powerhouse in any of its incarnations, and it flies.
If you're asking about the difference - it's a BIG difference.
But what's "worth it"? It's completely personal and subjective. If you have better way to spend almost 500 Euro and you don't care about having the latest and the greatest, and your current phone serves you fine - then it's not worth it. If you want a new and powerful phone, and feel that your DS is annoying you - go for it. Only you know what's "worth it" and what isn't - for you.
By "is it worth" i mean, whether i will have top smartphone at least for 1/2 year.
Because new Galaxy will be probably presented soon, also new phones from htc... Ubuntu phones, tizen etc..
I am affraid, that i will buy top phone at the moment, but in one / two months it will be "old".
I have bought the galaxy note 2 and I'm planning to use it for over 2 years. Who cares you won't have the fastest phone in 1 year... everybody has that same problem so nobody has that problem. In other words, what are you missing now what you will have with the S3?
My previous phone was a galaxy S. This phone served me over 2 years, with all kinds of custom ROMs. Maybe you should focus on a 2 year life cycle instead of 2 months top of the bill.
Good luck!

I am experiencing much worse download / upload speeds, even death grip on my desire S.
Comparing to my brothers Galaxy S3, same carrier, phone next to phone.
Well, then you just answered yourself.
Question is: dont you think, i should wait for galaxy s IV ? How much will it be ?
Odp: Galaxy S3 - is it worth to upgrade ?
Buying top models of anything was always waste of money for me. Good midrange is usually better choice. Always you can swap your phones more frequently for saved money. Don't pay for "best phone" label which will be removed sooner that you expect.
I had S3 in my hands. Decent phone but I didn't piss my pants.
and they are going insane with the ever growing dimensions of top phones...
Well...planning to upgrate my DS to Butterfly..Whts the opinion Guys...confused between note 2 one x+ and butterfly..

My HTC Desire S digitiser is really damaged which sucks because I like my Desire S a lot so I have to use a Galaxy S right now and I'm definitely planning to upgrade to an SIII
Despite the increased screen I still feel I can use it one-handed if I need to (for everything except typing) and the battery is a huge improvement over both the Desire S and Galaxy S
It comes down to personal preference though and the phone will last years because of dev communities like this one here at XDA
Just ordered Onyx Black SGS3 i9300 ) :victory::victory:
Yeah, ONYX ! Don't know why, everywhere on internet they call it sapphire black, but in slovakia, it's Onyx black
Good luck with your new toy

One x+ if you want lots of storage and a device that can still be operated with one hand. Butterfly if you want a powerhouse. I would stick with HTC phones if I were you they have improved IMMENSELY since the days of the desire s. Build quality has improved and the display/designs of the phones are top notch! The One X had a slight problem with battery life but since then they've been on the ball. Samsung phones IMO are just crappy. They look cheap and the design/build quality is nothing compared to HTC's
Absolutely love my S3 its a massive improvement over the Ds but is itself approaching its first 'birthday' so if it were my money I would hold on until the first raft of 2013 phones get released to see what's on offer then decide ...good luck
YES, you won't regret it, s3 is a stunning phone, although as said above, it is old now, new phones are due out soon, so hang on if you can bare as the price of s3 will drop or the s4 or the new M7 will be an option

I think the desire S works fine but personally, the screen is too small. It's a good upgrade if you find that the screen is too small for you.
Cancelled my order for S3 today. Wait 2 weeks, they said :/
Also, droptests of S3 made change my mind..
