Hi am looking for an app that will still allow my phone to dim after so many seconds but not completely off. Anybody know of one or know how to do it with android?

[Q] Auto Brightness

Hi
It seems that the auto brightness of the Desire S is very bright even in total darknness and doesn't change a lot with the light.
Is there anything that you can do about that?
Beside using power, it is so bright, that if you sit in total darkness, then you are almost blinded, e.g. using it when driving at night.

yes it is
I do agree with you on this.
On WM you could do edits to the registry is something like this possible on Andriod? (noob to Android, just switched over and i like what i see)
I think it's the same with many HTC devices. Especially my Wildfire :/
you can try one of these apps

i was always keeping screen brightness on ~7% on hero and now, i see, with desireS i'll have to do the same...
Yes, I am also using manual control through a widget.

If your phone is rooted you can edit the brightness levels of auto setting in framework.
You can use tasker to finetuning screen brightness

Screen Auto Dim Bloody Death!

I'm truly getting tired of this. I want auto dim turned off completely. Every 10 seconds I'm not touching the screen, it auto dims. I have the screen to stay on when charging and not to sleep for minutes when not charging. But the Auto dim stays on.
I've seen an app that shuts it off under specific apps. But That app is a fail to me. I want it off! I never want the screen to auto dim. The device has auto backlight brightness and that is all I want.
Anyone knows how I can do this? Maybe a file to edit? something?
Device: Galaxy Tab 7, CWM 5 with CM9
Nobody seriously knows how to shut off the auto dim?

(Q) how do you turn off screen timeout?

On gingerbread there was an option to turn off the screen timeout in display settings but in ics they removed that option. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to disable the screen timeout? My phone spends all day in the car dock and I like to see what is going on with it without turn it back on every 10 minutes.

Auto dim issue

The screen keeps auto dimming even though I have auto brightness off. Wth is going on???
What is your screen time out set to? It does dim right before turning off the display at your set time. Perhaps it's that?
It still has the 2 stage dimming by default. It switches to that soon before the screen cuts out.

Flashlight status notification

Is there an app or Xposed module or some way, to show a notification when the torch/flashlight is on?
I have my phone setup so that I can hold the power button when screen is off to turn on the light. The other day I must of accidentally turned it on and didn't notice it. I was using the phone and someone pointed out that the light was on.
Thanks!

I don't wish to sound rude, but the fact that there's a bright light coming from the back of your phone isn't enough notification? Theoretically what you're asking for should be possible, but I don't know of any that have implemented it into a notification.
I have my phones set up the same way (well, volume up, but same concept), and on the very rare occasion the light is activated, it's pretty obvious that the LED is lit. I'm don't know which module you're using, but with Wanam Torch, which I use, you can adjust the time pressed required to activate the torch. Tweak it so it's long enough that it doesn't accidentally keep turning on in your pocket, but short enough that's not inconvenient to use.

Obviously if I had looked at the back of the phone I would notice. However, I was using the phone, i.e. looking at the screen.
I assumed it was easy to do, just hoping someone here knows of a way to do it.
The setting I use is in Sense 6 toolbox. There is no option to change the duration of holding the button.
Thanks
