Sorry but NO =(
Sorry pal. Althought I go by the rule 'anything is possible' due too the amount of work that would be need I cnt see anyone attempting it in the near future.

no its not possible for your phone buy samsung sgs2
Yeah I'm quite curious about this. Why is android not possible on a blackberry? No driver for its hardware? Bold 9900 has a 1ghz qualcomm, 728mb of ram and even a gpu. Something like a nexus one .
Doubtfull
That would require ALOT of work

No, this aren't possible even if you have a 1 GB RAM, because BlackBerry Bootloader are Propietary Locked. You have too much Windows Minding, Android are Linux. So there's no such thing as "Drivers".

But it seems back in 2008 there was a demo that shows that it is possible: "Non-touchscreen Android Phone Demoed at CTIA"
But why you want that "dirty" walk around? I like WM6.1 very much!

Yes and no is not an answer its a strange response. The answer is it has been done but most developers here prefer working on high end phones.
Take a look at this post, Motorola just brought out a phone that does exactly that. As for popular non touch WM phones like Samsung S7550 and HTC snap.. they are just waiting for someone who wants some recognition and is not scared of the challenge.
http://www.androidpeople.com/worlds-first-non-touch-android-phone/
As for your comment on WM 6.1, its the most app unfriendly system around making developnent difficult. Just try android and you will see what i mean.
To the Chefs: get ready, nontouch android should be with us soon if one of you hasn't already gotten hold of a build.
Somebody have now B7330 with android OS?
It is possible to make this?
Thnks.
What are possible (custom) roms, please advice :good:
It's a old phone but there must be nice rom's & apps for it, or not?
so please give you're opinion about this B7330 Samsung Phone!!
Hey,
Why is there no android version for the N8?
Could anyone create it? There is enough animo for it.
If i read some forums I see that some people want it. Why not?
Also it has the best mobile camera in the world.
If someone can run android on it it would be the best device ever. (I think)
I could find an answer on this forum. But I think this is already changed.
(That there isn't enough animo for it. But there is!)
I'm also a newb in this world. But I like android and the compatibility that the most devices already have with it.
Kevin
I dont know if its that simple. I dont rly know if the android suitable for N8, anyway would be nice to have it (even though that i have HD2, which i think that is much better than N8.) If its possible, my friends will have android too! xD
indeed!
I think an android developer must buy an n8.. that he can see it's a wonderfull device.
And then create android for it.
Not all phones are like hd2, where you can have different os

Not all people wants a HD2
you are not alone my friend!
I too wish the N8 had Android.
It is a much better device than the HD2, screen size isn't everything.

anything is possible, it just takes time.
and in the HD2's favor, it had hardware that was common across different platforms.
plus a big userbase
Isnt the N8 nokia soft based on Debian? couldn't drivers be ported my friend has this device and yes the camera is amazing on it
I thougt it was only meego and maemo wich is debian based?
i was thinking to get a nokia n8 untill ive found out that nokia had very low quality development for that new symbian version, and that they moved torwards windows mobile... i never liked windows mobile and since they were not going for android i said whats the point, on paper the nokia n8 is amazing, but it has some problems aswell, for example the cpu is only 625mhz, while its arguably enough to run android, im not entirely sure it has all the instruction sets compatible with it, emulation is out of the question too, the android code would have to be natively changed to work for it, and then there had to be the matter of games, they also had to be coded properly for that specific gpu,cpu and sound chip, accelerometer and so on.
So thats why ppl dont usually port phones to android, its a mess to code and most of the drivers they have to code them from scratch.

The CPU is official build for 750mhz. So it can run faster.. Also i heard that the new version of android (3.0?) has hardware acceleration for the UI. So the GPU can be used for it.
cpu for android need nore juice and ram.
battery life will be hunger for more to join android.
nokia seem battery effective device.low power consumption

Why?
The HTC ChaCha and Salsa has a 600 mhz processor... And still Android runs on it.
Indeed the ram is littlebit low 256 mb...
Chacha is 800Mhz, 512 of ram..
yeah i wish that someone would find a way to port android to n8 i recently got one and dont like symbian os, any way i'll keep on searching if no luck, guess i have to get an android phone
Edit: forgot to say i had a sony ericsson x8 which had 600 Mhz processor and 256mb ram and i was even able to run android 4.0 on it dunno why n8 would not run on this device
The question is why port android to N8? The N8 is a wonderful device as is. If you have an N8 you probably bought it for it's camera prowess. Bonus: you get a very long battery life (compared to droids). Now if you want to port android on it then it will become power hungry and will be full of glitches since it has poor dev support. Also, you wouldn't want a slow droid. 600mhz for a droid is quite slow, and as stated, the RAM is low. You're better off buying an affordable Galaxy Y. Believe me it's quite fast, if you can live with it's low res screen.
Cheers,
Cezar

it's not possible to port Android or any other OS to symbian phones because of locked bootloaders by Nokia
Nokia n9 is running meego OS which is with unlocked bootloaders and that's why this phone can have dual boot or just one OS like Android 4.x.x ICS
I want it too
I have an Nokia N8 too and i would love to run android on it.
So if there is any way to install android on it....
I also have nokia n8, it was really a great phone,hi quality build, superb. And I fine with symbian^3 but what bothering me was that the nokia apps store is getting useless. I need BBM and can't find any.
hiya there people...
im looking for a phone that allows dual boot. i want to run android aswell as windows. what phones do you know that are available which are good spec that allow me to do this.
many thanks
The HTC HD2 will do as you ask. You run WimMo from the handset, and Android from the SD card. Check the HD2 forum for more info!

I would say HD2 too, but it's already an outdated phone. If it's really necessary to have Windows on-board, then you could probably wait for some of the new W7 phones to be customized. Keep checking for example the HD7 development forums.

I was just curious as to why you want this? Don't get me wrong, I like both OS's but android is far ahead in OS/app development and MS is stalling by saying the next Windows will be when they focus on handheld dev.

No..
This is the first time I will say this but, if you really like Windows Phone 7, sell your Android device and get a Widows Phone 7 device. Best choice you can make
Yes. If not.... can someone enlighten me?
It will just take a lot of work and won't be near feasible to even support. Cellphone adoption rate says its better to just go buy the phone.

It's technically possible if the phone is using a Snapdragon processor, but so far no one has figure out how to hack the Windows Phone bootloader onto those devices.
So no or at least not currently.
No, because wp7 and android uses another hardware.

You meant to attach any link?
i belive it's called launcher 7, it's ok but not great. So far the only device that has had the WP7 OS ported to it has been the HD2 because 1.) it had a partial internal build from HTC, and 2.) the HD2 has probably the largest community support of any device aside from the iPhone.
Thanks for your quick response.
I do think the OP asked about OS not theme
So from what I understand my Galaxy ain't gonna eat WP7 and that's something that's neva gonna happen.

I'm really tired of Google, Microsoft and Apple and want to get away from them. So i'm wondering if there's any people here who've actually tested some of the phones with the new operating systems, like Ubuntu, Firefox OS, Tizen and Sailfish, and who can recommend some phones.
I've been using Flyme os on my Nexus 5 and I enjoy it very much. I agree that Stock rom is kind of boring.
I tried ubuntu on Nexus 10 about 6 months ago, but android worked better on it. Had some issues like battery draining fast, not so good performance and some application not working and lack of support application.
Thanks guys. But aren't there any phones not made by Google that have active alternative-OS modding?

I've heard of the Alcatel onetouch fire that runs firefox o.s. by default, and also Sony had offered the same o.s. for the xperia e. You can check them out if you wish.

Nope. There's so many phones out there that may or may not get one or more of these OS' that i felt it's best just to ask what people think is the best combination. I have a Galaxy Note II LTE for example, but it has seemingly no alternative OS developer interest whatsoever.

Hmm, there's many different Onetouch and Xperia models. I would like a mid-budget or better phone really. Ubuntu for example needs quite a powerful phone and it would be nice to be able to run it.

Well, i've already tried the best for years. Now i want something different, and to get away from the big guys. The process of getting the alternative OS' onto existing or planned high-budget phones is sure taking its sweet old time.
