Hey everybody, this is my first post here.
I recently installed Rubix Focused and the Linear theme for it. All is well and good except that some of the edit menu icons are themed and some are not. This really bugs me and I wanted to change them all back to the stock icons. I've found the icons inside of the framework.apk inside the linear theme zip, but when I replace them via 7zip and try to reinstall the theme, they aren't changed and my phone pretty much flips out.
Also some of the icons for other programs (Gmail, others) are also changed, I'm assuming whatever would work to fix the ones inside the framework apk would also work for changing out the icons in those specific apps.
So how do I go about doing this? I thought it would be a simple fix but I'm thinking I'm missing something during the process.
If you use the rubix zip u flashed...
Open it up with 7zip and pull ouy everything but the framwork-res.apk
Then reflash the new zip. I believe u can do this...read it in this forum somewhere...

Would I be reflashing Rubix's framework or the theme's (Linear)? The modified icons came from the theme installation.
Use the rubix framework if you want them to look like the stock rubix icons.

I replaced the icons in the theme with the icons I wanted and replace the framework file in the original theme's zip and deleted everything else, keeping the file structure to the framework file intact. It freezes whenever I try to install it now.

What process and exact steps did you take to do this?

Alrighty, I ended up getting something to work. I used another simple theme mod's zip file and replaced the framework file with mine and installed fine. I'm guessing it had to do with signage or something.j Would life have been made easier if I used apk manager?
Yes, if you are just replacing images, apk manager would probably make life easier...
Sorry I didn't think to mention this before... was just trying to think of the easiest method to get you back to where you wanted to be in terms of look/feel.
Here is my second go. I only changed a little bit. Some new status bar images and a few other framework changes. I had trouble getting the text color to cooperate with me so i lost some of the black menu buttons, cause black text on black buttons just don't work lol.
Included in theme-
Wallpapers
Notifications and Ringtones
Star Wars Boot Logo
Star Wars Boot Animation
Pandora with transparent widget
Black Themed Market
Black Skinned Keyboard
Install Instructions-
Boot animation and logo can be installed through Liberty Toolbox(simply rename the boot animation to bootanimation.zip, and then place on the root of the /sdcard, and extract the logo.bin file from JediDroidBootLogo.zip and place on the root of /sdcard then flash both in Liberty Toolbox)
Reboot into clockwork recovery
mount system
install zip from sd card
reboot and enjoy

Thanks man i'm at it again .
I got the bootanimation but the bootlogo zip is empty i installed it and the is nothing there and when i long press on it in the File Manager it's saying application not available . Still can't find the wallpapers.
That is strange, let me look into it.
The file you need is the logo.bin that is in the JediDroidBootlogo.zip. You should be able to extract it with root explorer. If not use 7zip on a computer. Then place it in the root of the sd card and use liberty toolbox. The last option under boot logos is - flash /sdcard/logo.bin. Thats how i do it.
I actually forgot to put the wallpapers in the zip file lol. I will fix that and you can download the Theme's zip file and get them that way. The easiest way to do it is to use root explorer. Long press on the Theme's zip file. Select extract all. It will pull the entire contents to the sd card into folder /sdcar/extracted. Then all you have to do is go to /sdcard/extracted/Liberty X 1.5 Star Wars Theme/system/media folder and all the addons are there. I will post update when i have fixed the downloadable file for you.
I extracted the files and i installed the bootanimation which is pretty cool, i see the JediDroidbootlogo.zip but as i said there is nothing in it i installed it using the toolbox and all i got was a fuzzy screen , that's ok tho , how about the wallpapers where can i find those ? . Thanks .
I still don't understand how you don't have the logo. I downloaded the file myself to test out your problem and the logo.bin file is inside the zip. Read my first response carefully and i believe it answers all of your questions.
You will have to re donwload the theme to get the wallpapers. I have reset the link and the file.
I tried it many times but it's no problem man . Thanks again it's very nice .
Are you installing the logo zip file or extracting the logo.bin file out of it?
Did you redownload the theme?
I added the wallpapers in after you mentioned they were missing. I had to change the file on media fire. I have updated the download link. If I need to I can pm you with just the logo.bin file from my phone. Let me know.

I want this, but I don't think I'm keeping Liberty. I download alot of mpeg4 movies to my phone and play them on the Hidef tv through the HDMI out, but that doesn't work on Liberty 1.5 for me
I don't think HDMI out works on any true aosp roms. I could be wrong tho.

Not sure. but the ROM has to be de-odexed first I believe.
UOT says it will work on odexed roms
didn't know if the stock rom was odexed

stock / official ROMs are always odex'ed. If thats the case, try the UOT at your own risk. Framework-res breaking will cause boot loops.
Anybody brave enough to try this?
I tried uploading framework-res.apk to UOT and just did the Circle Battery mod, then downloaded the .zip and renamed it to "update.zip" and flashed in stock recovery, but no go... I think once we get CWM recovery working, this might start working...
FYI, framework-res.apk and twframework-res.apk aren't odexed. On any Samsung ROM I've poked around in.
I tried it last night and installed with cwm and it bootloooped had to restore from backup would be cool if it did though i will tinkier more with it and see
I flashed Refuse (check out the other threads about this rom) via Odin, then extracted the framework-res.apk and uploaded it to UOT and created a zip with the battery mod I wanted. Then I installed Rom Manager from the market, moved it to phone (by default it installed to SD), flashed the Captivate recovery, then booted into recovery, selected reinstall packages (which got me to CWM recovery), then selected install zip from SD card, then selected the zip, and it worked.
this is the same method i used and it worked for the fonts and battery mods and i changed some color schemes also now have a white status bar
why wont it let me download my framework and systemUI?

Oh. Didn't know you were to that point since you said download. When I was getting that error, it was because of the particular internet connection I was on. Haha, I was going to suggest you visit the thread for support, but I see you've already posted there. Well, good luck.
yes, i tried the theme kitchen (http://uot.dakra.lt/kitchen/)

Framework file.
So its the framework.jar file you use? Cos my stock rom does not seem to have a framework apk file in the framework folder so i used the framework-res.apk
Works
Oh nevermind. Tried with the framework-res.apk and it worked. Thanks anyway.
Yes,you need to upload systemui.apk
maybe someone can post his litle work ?)
My little work
Experimented with both methods, uploading all 3 files and just uploading framework file. Second method worked. This is the battery i made using the kitchen. I am also running stock sense 2.3.3 on my desire s.
Circle battery with animation while charging.
Copy anywhere to SD, reboot into clockwork recovery, clear cache and davlik then apply update.

Cheers for making this one fella. Been having upload problems at work (and I forget at home). Wanted circle battery for ages now!
It's the blue circle for all who might want to know.
Anyone can upload all the 3 stock file heres?
framework-res.apk
com.htc.resource.apk
SystemUI.apk
or anyway i can extract/get myself
Many thanks
You can find them all using an app like astro file manager. Just copy to your SD card and then to pc. Location of files can be found with Google..l

what happens if you select the rom rather than upload the files?
Also, do boot animations work?

Works also with v1.47 rom , but framework from stock and 1.47 have different filesize (the uot-generated zip also is different). Once installed i've noticed no differences, but is better to install a proper 1.47 based battery

Does any one know of an inverted Mms.apk or Gmail.apk that is not white for 4.4?
I have seen a few on here that are only flashable in recovery.
I am on Verizon with a locked BL.
Thanks!!

Mms (and Google black Dialer) could be find as described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2606281. I managed to push the attached inverted gmail to the system/app too (original renamed to Gmail2.apk.bak, renamed the inverted to Gmail2.apk, changed permissions to rw-r-r) and it worked without problems. Soon I got back to the stock app after I experienced notification "Unfortunatelly,Google services has stopped" after every reboot. Later I found out that services crashes because of ART and inverted Gmail has nothing with the issue.

That's true. SMS wasn't extracted from zip. But everything else were. Did you follow the instruction precisely? You must either rename the original apk files (to apk.bak) or move them to the sd card (you always have chance to get them back from there). Then you must rename the new apps as original ones were named. And copy them to the respective folders from where the original apps were taken. With explorer which could operate with system applications. Then change permissions for every new app to rw-r-r. And reboot the phone. You might be asked after to confirm your gmail login credentials and that's pretty all. You should have all black applications totally worked.
I'm attaching all inverted apps which I have actually installed. And they are the last versions available.

Are we to only rename the original apk or do we also need to rename the odex file as well? I tried this on my N7 (2012) with the Gmail app and I am getting "Unfortunately, Gmail has stopped."
IT'S WORKING. I don't know why. Since it didn't work initially I renamed the original back from apk.bak to apk and renamed the inverted one blackGmail.apk and just left it in the system/app folder. It is now working but technically it shouldn't be working. Am I correct in my thinking that it shouldn't be working?
Thank You

Gmail has probably stopped because the odex file is missing. The files I attached are deodexed and the original ones were as well. But, hey, you've got better solution - why shouldn't you give this toolkit a shot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766475. It looks like an easy way and you'll gain everything: unlock, root, custom recovery, restore option... And with custom recovery you can flash every black zip you wish from here: http://www.designrifts.com/teamblackedoutapp/recently-updated-2/, no need to seek for alternative solutions..:fingers-crossed:.

You have nothing to loose. As long as you keep original files somewhere you can always get back with just deleting modified and pushing into the system original ones.

Via RE you will also need to possibly wipe the dalvik file or the whole dalvik if you don't want to locate it. I did not post a link so I don't know which one you have. One had one with the odex and one didn't. If you have the single apk then you should also try to remove the odex file and reboot. Don't just click on the file in RE to install but copy it over. The flash should work via recovery. droidjunk.com/junk/Dev_MotoX_4.4_MMS.zip
