Does anyone else have issues with Facebook integration in the messaging hub? It says some of my friends who use Windows Phone are offline, even when their not, and not all messages get forwarded to my phone.
I dont really have any problems with the facebook intergration and messaging although i have had a problem with windows live contacts not showing up, for some reason they were getting put on ignore and you cannot see that on a wp7 device.
Perhaps dissociate your windows live account with facebook and try again there also could be a problem with your cellular data connection.
Integrated Facebook Chat WP7.5 contact Problems
I have a Nokia Lumia 710, WP7.5, Rogers Network. I've noticed during the last couple days that I can no longer access facebook friends on my messaging hub. Even with my facebook chat toggled on, I cannot see any of my fb contacts who are online. I have been able to chat with my hotmail contacts.
The problem started off as something minor, where I would have to toggle the facebook chat option (under MESSAGING SETTING), off then on, after which the my fb contacts would reappear, but now even that doesn't work.
Clueless as what to do now.
Thanks
I'm having the same problem, but in my case Facebook Chat never worked
I have the same problem. Any fixes?

Iam facing a strange problem with my HD7 since yesterday. I have made some addition and deletion in my windows live contacts. Now my HD7 is no longer reflecting/updating these changes. ( Previously HD7 was updating the contacts immidiatly).
Although I have kept my mobile phone's wifit on for several hours. Beside this I have access the hotmail account through HD7's internet explorer and have done a lot of surfing on my HD7 but still it has not updated the contacts. Am I missing some thing ?
Thanks.
is it getting your emails fine still? i know it's a bit risky and will mean your changes will disappear but worst case scenario would be to remove your live account from windows phone and readd it again.
Same problem here
It happened to me just after I edited and merged some contacts on my Windows Live account.
Now I'm not able to get all my contacts there to my device and I lost all avatars but the ones of facebook.
I think I tried anything but stills not working
wp7 doesn't let you to remove ur main windows live account
I found a strange & stupid kind of solution. I tired it 3 times and it worked.
Turn on the wifi. surf the market place and recomendedly install any free software. The problem will be fixed. All contacts will be updated.
I've got similar issue. Contacts will be synced, but none of the contact pictures... Tried syncing over WiFi and 3G, no affect. Even tried to remove and add pictures to contacts on computer see what happens then... Nothing, contact pics wont be synced...
Make sure your facebook account and windows live account are sync'd.
was having the same problem until i went to settings - email & accounts and sync'd facebook!
is there a manual way to force Facebook to sync with your contacts?
I have had a number of new Facebook friends added so I can link them with my phone contacts and get the pictures etc. It done this the first time but hasnt since.
May try logging out of the Facebook contacts bit and then reenter my credentials to try again
i think a long press on the setting for the FB ...i'm pretty sure this is in the tip n tricks.
or at least on the list of tips on pocket-lint.com
awesome thanks mate!
taking about contacts I have dude , New contacts added to the cellphone how those contact get to the contacts in the email contacts because I made sync twice but the new contact that I added they are not in the account, any body knows how i can sync those new contacts thanks.
I have installed the Facebook app on my HTC Desire (With rooted HTC rom 2.2). Although I am listed as away in Facebook, whenever someone talks to me I do not receive the chat on my phone (later when I log in to Facebook on my pc, the conversation comes up on the pc but never on the phone). The settings in the Facebook app are enabled to notify me when someone comments, talks to me via chat etc.
I've checked under accounts and sync & there is only the account for "Facebook for HTC sense" (Facebook related) and I am not allowed to add a "Facebook" account here although the option is available.
I've also had this issue on my Wildfire.
Any clues?
I also have the same issue, But for me in PC, it shows that some chat messages are received, "that red callout", but I can't even see the messages.
I finally got a Windows Phone 7.
However my first gripe was the fact that when you use your live ID, it automatically decides to import all your contacts from MSN etc which is kind of stupid. So I ended up fixing that by creating a new account just for my phone.
Microsoft really need to add an option there, Do not sync live contacts!
As I handle all this through my Exchange service. Only use my live account for MSN.
Anyway so I decided to link my facebook account to my phone. That went great right up until I saw it importing all my facebook contacts! So I finally found the setting to only sync with contacts in phone, so now it's linked my phone contacts to my facebook by only whats on my phone.
However this is where I have an issue. I go to type a text message or email and look for a contact and it's showing ALL my contacts from facebook, yet they don't show in the People Hub. I specifically have the setting "Only add facebook information to existing contacts" checked.
My next issue is the fact Birthdays from Exchange to the Phone are not syncing up correctly.
Some will sync up correctly and others will be out.
The information is there on the Exchange and correct, and same in my Outlook. But WP7 sometimes decides that a contacts birthday will be out by a day. So far one day ahead.
E.G
Contact 1 Birthday 16th July on exchange, shows up as 17th July
They are also not appearing in the calendar
I have checked and regional settings on phone and exchange are correct. It can't be the exchange as it was syncing fine with WM 6.1.
Help!!!!
actually the birthday issue has been there since wm6.5 for me and still a mystery to me hehe.

It automatically decides to import it because that was the way the phone was designed. To stay in sync with your Windows Live Hotmail, Contacts, Calendar, Xbox, Zune, etc. Certain things can be disabled for the most part, but the phone was designed to take these things from the cloud and put em on your phone. The phone was built for those who primarily use Windows Live and it's services. Just like how Android phones are built for those who use Google services.
As for your Facebook contacts, they will continue to display in your messaging/mail auto-complete regardless of the setting you choose in the People hub. That setting simply hides them from view in the People hub, it does not remove them from your phone. You can still do a People search and find Facebook contacts (and other services if you have them sync'd), and when you compose a new sms/email, you can still use auto-complete to find a Facebook contact. Just because you don't have them as a specific contact in your address book does not mean you will not contact them ever, and so the phone surfaces that information in the case you ever need to. You simply have to ignore the other contacts, and continue on your normal contacts.

That is really stupid. I choose to not show them for a reason as I don't want hundreds of contacts in my contacts list for messages and emails.
Does Mango solve this issue?
Also I'm guessing there's no way to choose what info gets imported for each contact, as some contacts on facebook input invalid phone numbers etc and well they are now clogging up my phone with useless info.
Kind of stupid to not have options to control what can and cant be linked and displayed!

Android does at least give you the option to disable syncing contacts with google though.

Guess that all depends on how you look at it. I filter my People list to ones only in my Hotmail contacts, sync Facebook info with those only in my People list, and enjoy it when the messaging app allows me the flexibility to still contact those who have contact information but are not displayed in my People list. Again Windows Phone 7 is a socially connected phone designed to help keep you in contact with your Windows Live and Facebook contacts in addition to your regular phone book contacts (and just wait till Twitter and LinkedIn are finally available). So if you don't like that, then the phone is probably not for you.
Mango does not solve the "issue" since its by design, and therefore not an issue at all. I don't expect to it change anytime soon either since Facebook Chat is also integrated and the phone won't simply just exclude the people in Facebook Chat who don't exist on your phone, as that destroys the convenience of chat.
Just gonna be something you need to deal with I suppose, until the feature to further filter your contacts can be added.
is anybody experiencing a facebook chat "can't connect" problem? I've done multiple troubleshooting and it isnt' connecting on my rtm unlocked mango hd7
this has been going on for 2 days since yesterday afternoon I believe.
anyone else?
same its happening to my omnia7!!! i cant connect to any chat!. Allrdy try uninstalling the Facebook account and Resynchronizing it again.
then i got from the marketplace the Fim app(facebook chat) and also got connection issues...
all my Chats work fine with wifi but not on 3g! its possible that T-Mobile(my carrier) block those features since it worked nice 1 week ago!
have u found any solution?
thx
yes I have found the solution and I am talking about the integrated facebook chat with your messaging application for your phone, you have to go to windows live on your desk top and remove the facebook integration and delete facebook synched contacts off your phone, you have to reinstall both several times and it will eventually connect.
basically you are going to windowslive.com and removing facebook and then adding it back on again giving windowslive rights to access facebook for chat status updates etc.
and you will also be deleting your synched facebook contacts off your phone and reinstalling them account, in the email accounts settings of your phone.
on windowslive desktop i think when you add facebook back certain prompts like i said earlier will ask you to allow windows live to access facebook chat and other features of facebook, all of this tinkering took several hours, uninstalling and reinstalling from both phone and desktop, don't bother with the actual facebook app or FIM, if you are having problems with FIM i can't help you there, the integrated facebook chat is 10 times better than FIM which is why i was going crazy when it wasn't working
Dear all,
I have this issue with my Mango on HTC Titan.
Some of my Windows Live Messenger contacts always appear offline in the "online" page of the messaging hub. I know they are online on Windows Live Messenger, and I see them online if I use my pc.
Even stranger, if I try to send them a message, by forcing "Messenger" in the chat page (even if the phone claims the contact is offline), the message gets delivered to the contact's Messenger client immediately.
Also, the contact does see me online. It's basically like if the contact is in "invisible" status, but just for my phone.
Note that it happen with *some* of my Windows Live contacts, not all of them!
Did anyone experience the same issue? Any ideas?
Many thanks
maTTeo
I found the solution.
Basically the contacts who were always invisible to me on the phone, were those in which I had ticked (involuntarily) "Limit XXX's access" on their page on the address book at people.live.com.
I still don't understand why, if I limit a contact's access, I can't see him online from the phone, while he can still see me online. At least vice-versa would make a bit of sense.
Hope this can help anybody with the same issue.
Cheers
maTTeo
