[Q] Can anyone else not take a screenshot after ICS Leak? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I was wondering if it was just me, but I cant take screenshots ever since the ICS Leak. I try doing the normal home + power button and it doesnt do anything?
any thoughts? i tried looking around in settings and such to see if it needs to be turned on but i couldnt find anything.
any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Camera button?

Someone know how use hardware (power) button to take pictures? Is this possible?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
no. not without some kind of thirdparty app that allows that.
Do you know an app to do this?

This would be a cool app to have.
you might be able to find one that uses a volume button, like the iphone. im not sure you can have one that uses the power button as it would end up turning off the screen every picture. i dont know of any camera replacements anyways.
sorry am new to Andriod ,.... so pls forgive .......
BUT WHY use pwoer button to take pic ? Just curious
I thought the 'touch' is nicer

The sheer size of the Infuse makes use of the hardware power button helpful. When holding the device to take a picture, it is easier to hold the edges and tap the power button than holding it and tapping on the screen. For me anyway.
I can chip in my two cents worth and say a unnamed Dev was working on getting power button shutter working on the infuse a few nights ago. So in due time maybe we will see a thread with a modified camera.apk. They were having issues keeping the phone from going to lockscreen, so maybe after the holiday weekend we might see results. Overheard on irc.

How to restart phone without removable battery?

Ok so normally if a phone were to freeze up or something happend you just pull the battery and then put it back in and start it up... is there a button combination or something that no matter what will alwaya restart the phone?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
volume up AND down AND power will force a reboot
Wrong
In official user manual on page 180 is that the when not responding press power button for 10 seconds then release to restart the phone

Your method works because you are holding the power button. The volume keys have nothing to do with it you don't have to press them.

one of these was "sens" function, so if u get rom w/o sens I think the home+power button wont work (or the otherone )
I think the home+power is from sense as it doesn't work on my friends gnex, but for some reason I can't get the power+vol- to work on my one s but works fine on his gnex.

You can keep saying it, but it doesn't make it true.
Power + Home works for my T-Mobile (US), Power + Vol- does not.
Power + Vol - is an ICS feature. It does work on the One S, it just takes a bit of practice

Are you serious? Is this really something someone would lie about?
I can do both on my One S. I didn't even know about Power + Home until it was mentioned in this thread. Just because you can't do it doesn't mean others can't and/or it's not a feature.
Yes, I have a TMO-US One S.
Hold Power then press the Home button.
Not to be that guy but this question has been asked a few times before, please search the forums first, also there is a Noob Q&A Thread for stuff like this. "Noob" not being derogatory.

Here you go, I made a Youtube just for you!
(And this thread, to prove that they both work)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqdip6XJUJs&feature=youtu.be
Yes, I have that much free time since classes just ended for the summer.
Both methods work
Method 1:
Press power and volume - at the same time
Method 2:
Hold power while tapping the home key
Power and volume down hold them then let go.

Yea just tested both my self -vol+power seem to have a shutter sound and have to be pushed at the sametime as for the power+home just flashes the screen and power can be pressed befor tapping the home button.
Sent from my HTC One S using XDA
Also one gets put in the screenshots subfolder while the other goes in the cameraroll....
the QA on this phone leaves me cold.

Sky ICA cannot screen cap

I just flashed to sky ics yesterday and I everythings works fine except I cannot take a screen cap and I have tried both method, volume down with power and power with home button. Also I can't seem to have my home keys button vibrate.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank You

How exactly are you trying to take the screenshot?? Are you pressing power + home at the same time and holding?? I just tried it and it worked
And as far as the vibrating goes, is "vibrate on screen tap" checked under sound settings??
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
home+power . Timing is a little more critical than it should be AFAIK.. push power a split second before home and hold both for a second or so.

Thank You guys for that quick reply
The Vibrate thing was just me being stupid and could not turn it back on Thanks lilair and stoopendis, but yea i tried everything with the screen cap and still doesn't work, it used to work fine with just power button and home before i flash. My buddy who also flashed to sky ics and his screen cap worked fine too, he also has the same update.
Geez that's too bad. I gotta tell you though... it took me a while to get the sequence/timing down. I swore up and down it didn't work! But persistance paid off and I have my sc now although sometimes it takes a fee trys.

The easiest way to screencap on ICS is press home for a split second then hold power for roughly half a second while still pressing Home.

How to exit download mode

I booted into download mode to check and see if it said I had a custom recovery installed or not.
Now how do I get out of download mode without pulling the battery? Is that possible?
Thanks

Have you tried this and had it work? No amount of pressing/holding/thumping-on the power button exits download mode for me...
To avoid removing the case, I also tried power + home, power + volume up/down, power + licking the screen :silly: to no avail.
Battery pull works every time.
I can confirm: holding down the power and ONLY the power for long enough to finish a bowl of popcorn restarted my galaxy tab 2 from download mode. Phew! The battery on that would've taken longer to pull!

Yup, hold power down has worked on this device and all my other Samsung's. Can take up to 20 seconds sometimes, why it's not consistent is beyond me.

thats just it, sometimes it works and other times it dont.

Gotta call bulls*it. adb does not work In Download mode
Holding the power button for a few seconds does the trick - just tested it
I had the same question and the actual answer, which I found worked on My Samsung Galaxy S2, was, and I quote---"the same way that you entered Download Mode"--i.e. in my case, holding Volume Down, Home and Power On buttons simultaneously--worked for me.
This was first mentioned by XDA Member 'zoot1'--so he deserves the credit.
