I got a "little" problem over here. I successfully installed ViperS 1.0.1 ROM with data restore from my previous ROM (PKMN 5.1) and now my WiFi won't turn on. It's stuck at "Turning On WiFi" and I'm not able to turn it off. I've tried to lift the pins above the camera. That caused me another error (It showed me an "error" message after turning it on). After following this guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1563336), I'm back at where I began, with the stuck WiFi button. It still won't connect. Does anybody have a solution?
Please don't post if you have the same problem if you don't have the solution. It will only confuse me. :S
I fixed it! I just flashed the ROM againg without any wipe!!!! It must be a bug under the installation!!!
Okaaaay... I am going to share my story because it ended up fixing my WiFi issue and I have read some similar issues. So after being rooted on 4.2 I broke it with the OTA 4.3 I wanted to check it out. I then used chainfire to root again. I blacked out hangouts, I installed 4.4 launcher, and xposed framework with 3 modules. I noticed that when I toggled my WiFi on it would hang, it would get stuck on "turning on...:" sometimes it would turn on, and I would enter my password, then it would hang right after I pressed connect then eventually it connected. If I restarted my phone, turned off the WiFi or left the area.. I would go through the same issues. When I pressed the toggle it would not show up as green to display on or grey to display off. It was a dark green trying to turn on.
My recovery is TWRP. This is what I did to try and solve it. I took off all the xposed modules. Nothing (as suspected), I did a factory reset.. it did not work. I tried *#0011# and pressed the menu button and selected wifi and turned off wifi power save. That did nothing.
I finally made the decision to break root put everything back to stock in case I need to take it back. Instead of Odin I thought I would give Kies 3 a try. I downloaded Kies 3, plugged in my phone and selected Tools>Firmware upgrade and initialization. It went through its motion.. I noticed that KNOX went back to 0x1 it booted up. Wifi worked.. perfectly! I also had all my apps still installed and didn't lose texting or have to put in my accounts again.
I am going to re root it and see if it recreates the problem.. Hopefully not. I'll advise.
**Update** Re-rooted..using chainfire's method WiFi works great..

do you solve the wifi problem with this? i have the wifi problem...
So about a week ago my WiFi just wouldn't work anymore. When I try to turn it on, it stays stuck at "Turning WiFi on". I think I've tried almost anything to make it work again. I've reflashed the factory image 3 time (Android 6.0), I've tried downgrading to Lollipop 5.1.1 but it still wouldn't work. I took it to a GSM Service and they said that there is no hardware problem. Can someone please help?
Sounds like a hardware issue. You tried with different ROMs and still the same problem.
Yes, I tried multiple Custom ROMs and it didn't work
I was using my rooted Android 6.0 with that kernel chainfire uploaded here on xda with the supersu 2.52 beta, and it was working fine for a few days until my wifi started to stop working, turn off, then turn on after a few seconds, lag, reboot, turn off, on, off, on until it stopped working. Putting the phone to airplane mode then back to normal or safe reboot could get it work for 10 minutes and not every time.
Solutions I have tried and didn't work:
Reflashed android 6 without wiping data
Factory Reset android 6
Flash 5.1.1 with wiping data
Clear Dalvik Cache
echo -ne the .macaddr file
delete the wpa_supplicant files
Nothing worked. When I dial *#*#4636#*#*, wifi state shown "UN-INITIALIZED"
What to do! I need to fix my wifi and can't afford a repair shop, and I'm out of warranty and outside the US so can't return it.

I just started to have the exact same issue last night. Wifi won't come on and if it does my phone reboots. There is a thread about it on Google Nexus help forums: https://productforums.google.com/fo...ification#!msg/nexus/yx5kGasv2lE/Pbx5KNQjCAAJ

Nexus 5 WiFi problem with Marshmallow
Hello, after updating my Nexus 5 to Android 6.0 the Wi-fi is no longer working. It keeps trying to connect but never actually turns on the Wi-Fi or show any networks. I've turned it on in Safe Mode and it still has the same issue.
Please help!

I tried that but didnt' help. Almost every time I turn the wifi on my N5 eventually reboots. I did have wifi connect for a few minutes today to my 5Ghz wifi but then failed for no reason.
I am guessing the wifi chip has burnt out or its some other hardware/software problem. My N5 is a day 1 shipped phone and had no other issues with it. Such a bummer....

So its probably not the same issue. Did you tried all bands? Is it doing the same thing on different rooter brands?

this problem is severe
i have Nexus 5
Since ive updated to stock 6.0.1 (Build M4B30Z) my wifi has stopped working completely
Things ive tried
- ROOT, delete wifi persist folder (Wifi works but requires restart once wifi stops working)
- Lineage OS (Wifi works here but requires multiple restarts)
- Revert to Stock versions 4.4.4 and 5.1
- Heat gun over Wifi Chip (doesnt work at all) may be ive done it the wrong way
