Hi I did not find any similar threads and I decide to post it.
I am a student and I have successfully registered my HTC radar as a development phone. But when I tried to sideload apps, it still says my phone is not fully unlocked. (I have tried Bazzar and Nes simulator), so my question is dose register WP7 phone equals to unlock? If not, what other procedures we need to take?
P.S. I have followed instruction from the popular post thanks for XDA

You've just developer unlocked.
Bazzar and NES simulator etc needs Interop unlock -which won't come with the developer unlock.
Interop and full unlock are more or less like hacks and official unlocks don't support that.
thanks
Thanks a lot for the reply, it seems my HTC RADAR can not be interop unlock right now because it has V2 driver.
So is there any fun apps to use for just developer unlocked device?

Not sure about fun apps, but since you are student unlocked you will be able to side load only 3 apps at a time.
Try:
Screenshots
Battery Status
Supreme Shortcuts
These are all available in the WP7 software/development forum here on XDA. I have them all on my phone.
If you want more than 3 apps, you will have to uninstall one sideloaded app to load another app. At any single point you can only have 3 sideloaded apps on your phone.
thanks bro, that is helpful
There is also a webserver app which will allow you to browse the phone's \Windows folder and to read and write files to a data folder on the phone using a PC web browser. I fount it useful at times, but I have much higher unlock limits.
The screenshot app in particular is very handy, though.

Im sorry, I just tried to search forums for the answers but im having a hard time...
Just wanna ask. I am currently on WP7 7004 and I already have activated it. If i update my phone to the latest 8104 I think, would it affect my activated phone? do I need to ask for a new activation number again? or would it be the same one?
Thanks and sorry for the noob question.
what do you mean when you say you activated it? unlock? if you talk about operator's activation it's linked to your sim card...not to your device...
if your device supports custom roms i would flash it instead of officialy updating it...

Thanks for replying. What I meant is I have already activated windows live account on my HTC HD2, which I assume is a custom one.. and Im planning to update it. using zune or CAB. Im just worried about having to activate windows live again... cheers!
Your windows live / zune account should have a Username/Password. therefore you would just insert that username and password into the corresponding accounts when prompted... I think that answers the question, if i read it correctly... lol

So you mean even if I flash my WP7 to the latest, its the same activation code I would be using if windows live asks me for one?

Yes, it's the same activation code that you'll need to enter. So long as you don't share that code with anyone else, you can use it as many times as you need to. Just keep it associated to your current Live ID.
wow!!! thanks everyone! ill start my update now. Have a good one!

Try the "GO ADVANCED" button when editing your first post...it will allow you to change the thread' title...
I didn't really helped you...as you hadn't a real problem in fact...just under-informed about wp7 identification process...
Take care of your liveID/zune account because it will keep in memory all apps&games you install or buy, synchronize your contacts, calendar..etc...it's the minimum but crucial backup functions that wp7 offers.
no problem pal, have a good one.

welcome. remember to change the title of Post #1 to have [RESOLVED], instead of [Q].
@sh4d0w86 is only half correct. There's nothing preventing ChevronWP7 Labs unlocking a Lumia, except that ChevronWP7 Labs is sold out of unlocks and can't provide one for *any* phone right now.
The original ChevronWP7 Unlocker will only work on extremely old ROMs, so it certainly won't work on a Lumia; they're too new.
Is there a reason you need an actual battery percentage display on the phone? The battery status will show in the tray at the top of the screen. It auto-hides, but you can tap the top of the screen to display it again.

you have a battery status app built into the diagnosis tool on the phone to install it open the phone dialer and type ##634# no sideloading needed

oops, yes. guess i should have checked out the link @siddardhab had provided.
i was thinking the original Chevron Unlock, not Chevron Labs.
Hold the windows key, say start settings, scroll down to battery saver.
It will show a percentage there and estimated time left of battery based on your usage. You can also just go to settings but voice is way cooler.
For the quick glance, use the bar at the top that auto hides as mentioned before.
Recently tried installing 9 innings baseball and upon startup of the app it prompted me that "Device is Rooted, Please try again when Unrooted". First, is this legal? Second, is there a way to get around this? Third, How does this app even detect my root?
I'd love to play this game as I heard good things about it!
Thanks in Advance!

been looking for a good baseball app - but I guess I cannot use it now. found this forum though - might have better luck there:
http://global.com2us.com/forum/showthread.php?p=424792
Why would it not be legal? Note, this is the not the same question as whether or not it's the right thing to do. They can stop anyone they want from playing, it's their right. Apps typically block root when they used some type of shared scoring or leaderboard system that is susceptible to client-side hacking. It's a cheap workaround to prevent rooted players from playing rather than having to actually make their app secure.
As for how, a quick Google search turned up this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1101380/determine-if-running-on-a-rooted-device
That's a very simplistic way to check, and even it would be difficult to hide from. I've no doubt companies that are doing this as an anti-hacking measure are doing things more complex than this.
Yea I did a google search too and nothing seemed to help. I tried the temp unroot but that doesn't work. Was wondering if the XDA community knew some better way as I didn't find anything on the forums.
Legality side of it, Yea I suppose your right. But it's like saying I can't install WinAMP on Windows because I changed some registry files. Companies should defiantly not use rooting as an "anti-hacking" tool against their app. Either way they got a bad review because of it, hopefully they will take it into consideration and fix it.
It's the first time I've ever heard of an app not allowed because of root, is that a common thing?
Not really common, per se, but I've heard of it on a couple of other games. It's almost universally games that are susceptible to some type of client side hacking. There are some other apps that will do more specific things, like block you if you try to run an ad blocker, but very few will outright stop you for only rooting.

Hey it WORKED!
What I had to do:
1) Installed SuperSU
2) Went to Settings>Apps>Manage Apps>All and Force Stopped Superuser
3) Opened SuperSU, Settings, and unchecked Enable Superuser.
This app must use the 3rd method listed on shrike1978's link where it checks for su binary. Thankfully because the other two checking methods would be impossible to get around without unrooting. (I'm sure it's not impossible, but more work than I care to do)
Thanks for the help AgentFour20
No problem . Just hit the thanks button , that would be greatly
appreciated .

I am new to this world, buy 710 to my girl as a gift. Now she wants a specific ringtone. But need Zune (it refuse to install) Windows Embedded S 7, downloaded 2 times and always get error.
So I was wondering if is there a way to set the ringtone on the go, for example in Android that is the world I know the most, you can set it, just need a file explorer then copy the file to the folder Ringtone in your SD Card, and viola you got to ringtones and there is the file you just copied. Any similar in Windows 7.8?.
Thanks for any help you can bring me.

Sorry is about a request that made in the lumia 800 forum. Sorry If was bad.
I tried to google it but no luck so far, let see with your help, show same result when I was looking for. Is there a way to do it on the go, like I do in Android?. Do not need any pc!
1: Generally, avoid cross-posting. If you must cross-post (put the same message to multiple forums), make it clear what you're asking and don't force us to chase links.
2: Use a meaningful thread title. This one fails that test, hard. I read (almost) every thread in this forum section; most people won't bother with one that has a title like this.
3: Always search before posting. There are multiple apps that can convert MP3 to ringtones for WP7.

My WP7 device is currently out of commission, but a search for "mp3 ringtone" on the WP8 marketplace turns up literally dozens of apps, many of which I know work on WP7 and some of which are explicitly to do what you need.
Alternatively, you could try solving the problem with Zune. What is the *exact* version of Windows you're trying to install it on?

Hey guys!
I recently got a Gamestick. I already tried a lot of things to get under the hood, I am unsuccessful so far.
I have discovered the Gamestick has an open port, number 7002. It appears to be an adb bridge, as typing:
Code:
adb connect <gamestick_ip>:7002
on my PC yields a succesful connection, however, "adb devices" then says that the device is offline.
Has anyone with a bit more know-how (and a Gamestick) tried this? This device looks really useful, but it's locked down and very limited in what it can do right now. I want to try running my apps on it, but it's locked down.

Seems to be because of the authorization... You know - when you connect a phone using the adb for the first time, you have to confirm the connection for the first time... No luck confirming the adb on the gamestick...

Sorry for re-opening an old topic but can somebody please repost the guide to side loading here? seems like it is deleted from gamestickers.net
I recently created a small custom ROM (more like a conversion) if you don't care about the Gamestick store (like me) and you want a open android stick that still works with the game pad, let me know and I can upload the ROM somewhere after I finish some details just make sure you understand that you won't be able to access the GameStick store at all, in fact your stick will no longer be a Gamestick, and well you might brick it, and all those disclaimers, blah blah blah
you can always go back to the original ROM
