hi, thks fr yr reply, yes thats wht i need to know, thks again..
about point 2): keep in mind that this requires removal of the battery cover and then opening the battery compartment door which may not fit to the term "easily", especially when the phone is powered on

yes, yr right, "easly" dosent match lot here, but no need to remove the battery and turn the phone off ths most important. thanks again kind from u
if u remove the battery door, chances are that the battery will slip out.
If u wanna know if the sd-card is hot-swappable or not, i would say the answer is no.

Considering how you can fry the emmc chip in these devices by removing the battery, I wouldn't even consider that it's worth the risk trying to swap out an sd card while the device is powered up in order to save three minutes

To remove sd without turning the phone off I simply open the battery cover while keeping the battery still against the contacts with my thumb. Before that, obviously,I go to Settings-storage-unmount sd card!
By the way,I have wifi grip issue: it happens whenever I put even a single finger beside the speaker, below the jack output.

AW: The thing on every back phone
I think thats only on Samsung phones. On Htc Evo 3d it isn't...
Never seen it in my life
I've an s3 and it doesn't have this

It's also there on my Samsung omnia w. But not there on any of my HTC's or LG's so think it's only there on older Samsung phones
Sent from my One V using xda premium
No, i've seen it on many phones until now, on every Sony Ericsson k series, w series, etc., Samsung, Nokia.
Not being captain obvious here, but maybe it's a screw?

Those are for an external antenna. Every phone I have ever seen has one but sometimes they are hidden under a sticker or rubber plug. I don't exactly know what the practical use for one is though. I can't imagine anyone walking around with a wire sticking out of the back of the phone and an external antenna duct taped to the phone.

I had one my Lg Vu, never really knew what it was, but I just assumed that it was something that the phone company used for diagnostics or something. The external antenna makes more sense though. I wonder if i could buy the equipment to use an external antenna on it. The coverage at my cottage is sporadic at the best, and I'm not there often enough to justify paying for a land line.
It's the antenna

I am really curious about this, and i never taught that so many people have no idea what is that.
Its a antenna you can put a peice of wire in it and you get better signal lol

That's even more curious, if you saw the first picture...how am i supposed to put an antenna under the battery?
its on Samsung phone. I think

It's a connector (type FME) for an external antenna and is designed for use with a "car kit" that is permanently mounted in a car or some other fixed location. The reason it can be under the battery is that you take the battery out and the car kit base unit supplies power to the phone either from the car's power system or, if you've set it up at a fixed location, eg., at gator365's cottage, you would have a mains operated power supply for it.
It used to be a common feature on cell phones, but you don't see it so often now days.
I would not recommend just connecting a piece of wire as suggested by bbrad - it might be ok on receive, but an unmatched random wire antenna is not going to do the output stage any favours when transmitting and is likely to result in a dead phone - a high VSWR is bad for any transmitter.

Hi,
I am looking for a replacement set of speakers, one of them (left one) recently died. It produced some horrible sound, sizzling... I disconnected one of the wire, which allows me to continue to use the tablet, however I would like to replace it but could not find any supplier.

Thank you so much, yes you helped a lot!!! :good:
What a dumbass I am, I forgot to check ebay.
Now the question, is should I;
_ Pay $45 and continue to enjoy my tablet and do reparation myself when I got time (max 1 hour)
or
_ Restore/Reset the tablet to factory setup, (ROM, kernel, relock bootloader, probably loose my applications etc), then pay $15/20 (for the shipping with Insurance to Acer repair center), and have ~3/4 weeks without tablet ...

Well, considering;
1. You already snipped the wire.
2. Most folks listen with headphones.
I would do it myself when I got around to it.
Remember, sometimes, a re-flash back to stock can go wrong. Why tempt fate :laugh::laugh:

I did not really cut the wire, I disconnected it from its plug, if you already dismounted PC fan plugs, you may understand what I mean (I just won't precise that I needed half an hour to do it...). So theoretically, I can reconnect it before sending for RMA.

If you feel confident that you can restore stock, then it will save you money as you said.
My only argument would be, is it worth saving that money for how much effort it takes and how long you would be without a tablet?
Depends which you value more, the money or the time

You can see the Wifi antenna connecters on the left side. The antenna itself is part of the battery door. You can see it running along the inside of the battery door covered by black plastic.
From the looks of it, the antenna itself is fine. And even if the antenna was broken, your phone wouldn't say "error". That is very likely a software error. Maybe you could try and reset the phone to factory settings.

You should try this rom

I'm using this actually and everything looks fine:fingers-crossed:
even my problem of battery drain was solved, when you flash the rom make the obligatory wipes, then clean the 2 pins of the battery cover, the cooper, this may help and make sure the screws was ok
hope you can fix it:good::fingers-crossed:

Or you can put something on the battery door conections to make them work again. As its just like some conducting paint or something. Or bend the tabs on the phone side a little bit up (BE CARFEULL tho, bend to far and the tab breaks.)

I have been using my DHD with two batteries for some time now. The frequient pulling out of the battery has taken its toll on the door panel. It is hardly held in place. Along with it, I have started to face issues with Wi-Fi. I am able to connect only when very close to the Wi-Fi router.
Where can I get a replacement door panel. The service centres have been of little help.
MMTIA.
I suggest to take your phone to a technical place. It's not a software problem
Hello everyone.
Since last Friday, 26 February, the phone heats up even when surfing the Internet. charge loss is 25-30% per hour. Problems appear only on Friday. All was well for two months of using.
Has anyone experienced this problems?

I turned off the GPS sensor. Phone has become heated less, but still heats up stronger than two weeks ago.
Phone discharges still a bit fast.
I have exactly the same problem for last 2-3 weeks.
Tried flash roms for different regions, and all the same.
Phone battery lasts for about 10 hours.
Hope that will be sorted out by Sony soon, because phone is not for daily use like that!

yes, it seems other people are having this problem as well, so after 3-4 months the sony xperia z5 battery dies for some people hmm, anyways I am in the process of getting it RMA or repaired by sony, but contacted the seller, waiting on their response
I have the same issue, it started after two programs installed, com.facebook.appmanager and com.facebook.system. I don't have a facebook account and I removed the facebook app but these apps are nonremovable, I disabled them in app manager but the battery drain and heat is still there. I don't know if it's related.
Factory reset isnt helps too
Unfortunatelly nothing helps. I sent mine to local Sony service. Will report back what they did.

I was wrong. reset to factory settings has helped me . after that I had not been updated through playmarket or sony update.
Wifi suddenly no longer works (stuck on turning on). My N5 ran with LineageOS 14.1 microG. I've tried to go back to stock android and then flashing Lineage 14.1 again but that didn't solve the wifi problem. Currently running LineageOS 17.1 but that didn't help either.
Since this doesn't seem to be a software problem, do you believe that replacing the backside could solve this problem or does it not affect the function of the wifi?
Replacing the back doesn't help. The WiFi doesn't work because the WiFi chip (marked by the yellow square) has bad solder joints. You would have to resolder it to get WiFi working but that isn't easy. Some have got it working temporarily by heating the chip with a heat gun, you can find videos of that on YouTube but I wouldn't recommend trying it.
That was a pretty common issue on Nexus 5 and few other LG phones. On mine the WiFi died back in 2017

Yep, mine lasted until about Jan 2020. Not bad going. Might re-flow the IC now, as I kinda need WiFi on my phone...
It doesn't just not work any more, it actually locks up the phone if I turn on WiFi. Worst case, new phone time, though is there anything close to being as good as the Nexus 5 now, in terms of being great value, easy re-flash (Lineage OS) and user repairs? Hate the new Google line-up.

Depends on how much you wanna spend, but I'll probably order the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7. It's got official lineageOS support and looks pretty decent for around 160€. Motorolla Moto G7 is around the same price point and would also fit my needs just fine. If you wanna spend more you'll probably wanna wait for the new OnePlusOne for around 399€.

This site gives you a good overview of LineageOS devices, even if you're not from EU, imo.
