I guess it's cab (not zip) file. If I am right, you have to copy it to Treo and run from file manager - it will install your ringtone.
I always extract the files and then only I bring them up in my handsets as mobiles have problems in archives

Any way to possibly edit the PSoriginalWallpaper with more colors?

You can download this:
https://market.android.com/details?...azyzenlab.wavelivewallpaper.lite&rdot=1&pli=1
And you can make the background black like you want.
Or alternatively
"market.android.com/details?id=com.danielcotton.ps3lwp"
Copy/paste into browser!

Lol dude you aint gonna be able to hex edit a jar/apk file.
You need a decompiler
signature tool
alot of tools to do it depending on what apk it is.
for editing png you will just want to extract the data
rename the apk to .jar extension
then use an extraction tool to unpack the jar.
the files your looking for will more then likely be in /res/drawable-hdpi/
also you're going to need photoshop to do the img edits more then likely
Well image editing is not a prob for me, I'm a web designer.
I've messed around with codes all my life but I don't know how apk files are made .
I've searched and seen people saying .apk is just a zip which does extract when renamed and i do see alot of text files and a few files that aren't text editable

I think thats because the live wall paper apks dont actually contain the image data from the live wall-papers
I will do a search and try to find where the apk is referencing

Can't Load res/raw Files After Modding

Hello xda-developers!
I'm new to Android hacking, but I have a general background in programming...
I've been modding an application recently, unpacked the .apk file, done my changes and repacked it, signed it and everything works well...But when I run the program, and the program wants to play an mp3 file, which was located in res/raw before packing the .apk file, it gives an error: "Can't load audio file."...What is the possible cause of this problem and how to solve it? Are the IDs of the raw resource files changed everytime I unpack and repack the .apk file or what?
Thanks in advance...
Edit: Issue fixed by unpacking and repacking using Apktool instead of WinZip.

[Q] How to modify any android apk file?

I use Bluestacks 0.9.11.4119 . I Install android applications and games, from root folder (i.e. device/android/data/data) i copy all the folders to windows directory (i.e. publicfolder/pictures), now many of the apps or games have two type of similar files and i need to see what's inside of the files,
1st.- .so files and database files
2nd.- some of the files have no extension so if i open it on notepad then it comes in Alphanumeric symbolic format,i think its encrypted so i am not able to see even i have tried many language decrypter but failed
3rd.- how to dissemble the apk file and how to modify it.
4th.- how to read XML file of android apps, when i open it on notepad or Microsoft XML it shows error.

In addition to apktool (thanks, @kaiodduarte), you're also going to need a good text editor (I use Notepad++), an archive manager (like 7zip or WinRAR), and the ZipSigner app for your device.

It will help you with actually being able to make edits to text files without screwing up all of the line endings and encoding.

Editing OEMLOGO.MBN

Hi! i want to edit the bootlogo but its in a .mbn format. can someone tell me how to convert this to an image i can simply edit like .png or if its possible, to edit the .mbn itself wthout converting. Thanks in advance
AFAIK, mbns are compressed files. You should look for a way to decompress it.
A quick search shows that you can decompress it using unyaffs (a linux utility).
i dont have linux so i found a unyaffs version for windows but everytime i open it my antivirus triggers and deletes the program. so i redownloaded it and disabled my av. then i opened it again and it froze, had to open taskmanager to shut it down. are there any other ways to use this tool on Windows?
i found another version of unyaffs for windows but now it says "broken image file" replaced the image twice, still didnt work.its not broken as its the same image that is loaded when i boot my phone up. HELP!
well, its finally extracted and edited, but how do i put it back?
