Hi! i want to edit the bootlogo but its in a .mbn format. can someone tell me how to convert this to an image i can simply edit like .png or if its possible, to edit the .mbn itself wthout converting. Thanks in advance
AFAIK, mbns are compressed files. You should look for a way to decompress it.
A quick search shows that you can decompress it using unyaffs (a linux utility).
i dont have linux so i found a unyaffs version for windows but everytime i open it my antivirus triggers and deletes the program. so i redownloaded it and disabled my av. then i opened it again and it froze, had to open taskmanager to shut it down. are there any other ways to use this tool on Windows?
i found another version of unyaffs for windows but now it says "broken image file" replaced the image twice, still didnt work.its not broken as its the same image that is loaded when i boot my phone up. HELP!
well, its finally extracted and edited, but how do i put it back?

ResHack will cause a dll or exe locked to sign if u edit it heavily.
Use Heaventools Resource Editor or PE Explorer instead
I bought Resource Editor and there is no way to sign the file....It shows when I edit only 6 bitmap files it says the file is no longer signed or trusted...is there a way around this

i attached the program i used to sign the htchome.dll file I patched. Do the following:
1) Put the file in the same folder as the program.
2) Go into command prompt and navigate to the folder which contains the the file (in my case C:\Documents and Settings\ScottE\Desktop\Programs\ATT Tilt\Programs\SignCode\SignCode)
3) Type "sign filename" which in my case was: sign htchome.dll
Then it should give you a message that the file was signed.
I just added a screenshot
you can also use sign tool from Microsoft SDK 2008
i tought he cannot sign the file after edit it. silly me there is also multisign tool floating in this forum based on SDK but with easy GUI.

Thats what I used..!!!! Thank you so much for the response...The 2008 SDK signs files but not really, you actually have to buy digital signatures...this way its free and works....
Just copied my phncanbmp test file to my phone and it works like a charm!!

So i've got some new splash images I'd like to try out on my phone but most of them are .bmp files and I don't like to use adb to push them, so I'll be needing to convert them to .img files. Does anyone know of a good program that can do this?

In this case you must use rsd lite. It works good.
In gpe there is still a bat.
But in the other cases you can make a .bat starting from .xml and .bat of gpe version for example. Look the structure, it's always the same.
If you can't make that .bat then use rsd lite with xml, the official app from motorola.
Hey guys,
I know that many of you have given a bunch of solutions to the error message saying that the play store can't establish a reliable connection. However, I've tried all of those methods and none have worked. I got here in the first place because I couldn't connect to the play store. When I cleared data, I was logged out and couldn't log back in. I've tried editing the host file using total commander, clearing cache/data, and even a factory reset. Do you guys have any solutions? Thanks in advance.
Did you run Towelroot?
If so a friend of mine went into system/etc/hosts and commented out one of the IP addresses and it worked fine. Factory resetting doesn't change back system files to my knowledge.

I'm not sure what towel root is, but that is exactly what I did using total commander. I put a # before the second address. That didn't work. Also, since resetting won't change system files, I tried flashing a factory image. However, when I try to download the latest image on my PC, the download shows up as a document and not as a zipped file. That means that there is no flash-all script to run. I've reached a wall lol if you could think of anything that would work, I would appreciate that. Also, thanks for replying!
Winrarlabs.com and get latest WinRAR and extract the .tgz file with WinRAR to same directory as fastboot. Flash all script will be there once you extract .tgz

So I zip the document, and then extract it to the fastboot directory?

Install winrar. Open the .tgz file via winrar and then extract all the files you get there. flash-all file will be among those files

Hello all.
I haven't posted here for years. My account is still active, but I am no longer allowed to post in specific forums regarding ROMs, so I am asking here.
[moderators: sorry if this is the wrong topic. It is the closest I could find, since my question is not device specific]
I have an Android 9 box which is signed with AOSP test certificates.
I also have an update.zip file for this box.
This box has A/B OTA support, it is working and verified through fastboot.
I want to edit and repackage the update.zip
I know how to do it on old ROMs, but I could not find any tool that can repackage payload.bin
There are several tools to unpack it, and I used one to extract boot.img and system.img
But I can't find any way to package these files back in to payload.bin format.
I tried various google searches and even analyzing the open source unpacking tools, but building a packaging tool from scratch is too complex for me at this point.
Any advice?
Have you found anything for this? I am trying to repack the payload.bin as well from modified IMG files, but I cant find anything on the web.
I extracted this script from linux-86 tools, pretty sure this is the one that repacks all the images into payload.bin, but donno what's the exact code inside it that makes it possible... Understand the last 100 lines & you might succeed.

Hey
I've also tried everything, how do you pack it back into a payload.bin, I only wanted usb rights in the Platform.xml, I didn't want that anymore, that's enough for me, but how do I pack it again, thanks
I'm asking here as I never got an answer, sorry
