[Q] HTCTP application on my Sensation - HTC Sensation

Hi
Anybody noticed in Google Play this HTCTP application in the list of installed apps on the device ?
I am a bit confused as what this app actually does, why it doesn't display any permissions, why I cannot uninstall it and why it says under description "for test. do not download".
Also, yesterday was not in my list of apps and I never installed it.
HTC also seems confused about the subject and the only other relevant reference I managed to find using Google search about this is:
http://uk.androlib.com/android.application.com-htc-htctwitter-qCnm.aspx
Attached a screenshot and my chat with HTC about it if you want to read throught.
I just noticed in Google Play - market - the application called HTCTP installed on my Sensation. This was not there two days ago, I have not installed it myself. It does not have any information regarding the app or what permissions the app have and I cannot uninstall it. I have uploaded a screenshot of the app here: http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af159/maschenazi/htctp.png

You have been connected to Etienne.
Etienne: Hi Mihai, thank you for contacting HTC Support, I am looking in to your query now.
MA: thanks
Etienne: Google play is just another name for Market place
MA: yes, i know that
MA: my problem is with the HTCTP app
Etienne: I recommend that we perform a soft reset on the phone. This is done by removing the battery from the phone while it is still powered on. Leave it out for 5 minutes and then put the phone back together and switch it on.
MA: I restarted the device already.
MA: could you tell me what this app is ?
MA: by its name, is obviously something to do with HTC
Etienne: This is an update of google play to allow you to transfer apps
MA: did you have a look at the screenshot ?
MA: this is not an update of google play, this is an app displayed in my list of installed apps IN google play
Etienne: Yes I did,and I have also double check on a different phone.
MA: but unlike any other apps in the google market, it doesn't display any permissions required by the HTCTP app, and I cannot uninstall it
Etienne: There is nothing to be worried about , this come from Goolge play.
MA: it doesn't, I have checked on my friend's Samsung Galaxy phone, and I cannot even find this HTCTP in the market
MA: I know that google filters apps by checking compatibility with the device
Etienne: It come from Google play for HTc.
MA: Google Play, former Google Market comes from Google, not HTC
Etienne: yes
Etienne: HTCTP : HTC transfer protocol
MA: ok
MA: so what this HCTTP transfers ?
Etienne: This come with Goolge Play to allow you to transfer apps from your market place account to google play account
MA: how come it doesn't display any permissions and it cannot be uninstalled. How come is even in my list of apps because I haven't installed it, and yesterday was not there ?
MA: and the description: "for test. do not download"
Etienne: Because it comes from Google Play, as an automatic update.
Etienne: Is there anything else I can help you with today?
MA: ok, thanks for your time
Etienne: Thanks for chatting with me today, Mihai. To end our conversation, please click End Session. You’ll be invited to take a short survey which I’d be grateful if you took a moment to complete. Enjoy the rest of your day!

error while retrieving information from server. [RPC]

I seem to be having this strange issue with google market.
if I go to my apps, I only (according to play store) 1 app installed which is nit the case. Secondly, play store seems to think I have never purchased an app, eg, I have purchased titanium back up pro, but the store is yet again asking me to buy it at 4.99 where as it would usualy state 'purchased' and download. Secondly on trying to repurchase it states there was an error with the wallet, i then receive 2 emails a charge mail, and a refund message.
when i log in to the the play store on the web, it clearly shows apps that i have purchased in my account history with no price and the word 'purchased' but if I navigate manually, using search, it will state a price and ask me to pay
also i am using the same google account, i only have one.
below is an image of the error
Same problem, after cleaning cache problem disappears with bringing new one, f*&king blank page! No installed apps nor purchased asking me to buy it again. "All apps" tab is empty too. Damn wtf is wrong lol..
what rom are you using buddy?
I have the same problem.
The Google Play Market support could not help yet.
I think it does not matter what ROM on phone, this is a google play bug.
Yea i suppose, but looking on google play, its not under any known issues :/ looks like it may be a while before its fixed.
I contacted the customer support.
They could not solve the problem yet
it seems that the lost connection between Google account and purchased apps.
I sent some screenshots in Google Play support and I hope that the problem will be solved.
I advise you to contact Google Play support: [email protected]
I think if there is a lot of posts about this issue, it will speed up the solution
phew glad to see I"m not the only one. I'm hit with this as well on THREE different androids (one of whom is stock unrooted so its not my fault rofl).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24058132
I have also realized I am not getting application updates. its rare I go 3 days without a single update, maybe its because it thinks I have not purchased any apps lol
Any chances that your phone market local data is not yet synced properly with the google play ? I have seen that my apps (free or paid) is not listed out immediately right after I do a full wipe or flash a new rom with full wipe. But it will eventually show up itself after awhile with data/wifi connections. I personally didn't know how long it required to sync back but eventually they will appear back when I access the market again after I restored my personal data back.
By the way, did you guys try to check your account and performs a manual market sync in the Account settings section ?
yes yes and yes we've tried all the normal market fixes, downgraded market, uninstalled updates etc.
This issue is visible on multiple droids I own (including one unrooted stock) and on web market as well, its definitely server side
I'll check in on this thread too lol. I'm in exactly the same position. No response from google.
Google Play error

It seems not the same problem. This is another google play problem...
This discussion about the problem when the purchased app not in app-list when I trying to download&install app, google play say that the app is not bought.
Google Play thinks I have not purchased any apps.
I noticed that going to play.google.com and trying to install apps that way would give me errors. Trying to view my apps would have a page error. All my apps on my phone are gone, but my tablet has them oddly. Weird!

I have them on my phone and not my tablet! I think it might be related to market version whether or not they disappear device side. Can only assume the newest versions of market/store download the list from the server, rather than locally. Play.google.com doesn't work for me either.

XWLP2 4.0.3 stock for sgs2.. Web site is blank too so not rom related I think.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
I am also having the same problem after updating to OrDroid 1.7.5 from 1.7.3 hope this is fixed soon so I can install my apps from my backup.
I'm also have issues with my Galaxy S2 and Xoom
Same problem here with my Defy. I'm on CM7.2 Nightly build.
Just started having this problem a few moments ago on my Xoom. Cannot install any apps from the play market from my PC and keep getting server error when trying to access my apps on my xoom. Not checked my Galaxy S II yet... maybe a problem with Google?

[Q] Title-less App showing up in Play Store

About a 4 or 5 days ago a app started showing up in my "Installed" tab in the Google Play Store. The app has no title, and it says its made by TimothyMilla. The comments on the app say that its tied to Teeter, which is an HTC Bloatware game that comes with the phone. I haven't clicked Open on the app yet because the other apps made by TimothyMilla look suspect, TimothyMilla didn't make Teeter, and I didn't install whatever this is.
My question is does anyone else have this issue, or know what it is? Or does anyone know if TimothyMilla apps are spyware? Look Out Security couldn't find any maleware, but i'm really concerned with this showing up.
I've tried wiping everything off my phone, which removed the app at first, but by the time I finished reinstalling all my apps, it showed up again. (I reinstalled apps directly from Google Play, not through a phone back up).
Yeah I have the same app showing up in my play account. Comes up clean jen scanned though..

It's Teeter, however does not know why it shows up this way.
I removed teeter via titanium Backup (never played it) and it was also gone from My Apps on the store.
Hi!
I have such strange "app" too. And I've teeter installed on my phone. Anyway, I've never seen Timothymilla before yesterdey on my phone market.
I don't want to remove Teether. What is this app?
I noticed this yesterday as well. I clicked 'Open' and it opened Teeter. I haven't noticed anything different about my phone, so for now I'm just assuming its a link anomaly of some sort.

That is exactly what it is. This "dev" has an "app" with the same package name as the stock teeter app and thus is being mistakenly tagged in the store. Timothy Milla is NOT the dev that created teeter. The same thing is happening with the GS2's stock email app. The store is mistaking it for some Russian app. This is all do to the latest update to the store, 3.5.15. In short, you don't have Timothy Milla's app, you have teeter. The market link launches teeter because that is the package on the device that corresponds to that "app."
I don't know what happened but such entry has disappeared on my Play Store.
I had a similar event show up in my apps yesterday on my Acer Iconia A500 tablet. The strange thing is that it doesn't show the typical 3 choices of Update, Open, and Un-install. It just has a button for Open. I have no idea what it is so I am not opening it.
Is there some way to block an app from showing updates?
Rooted A500 - Thor HC 14.2 ROM
TimothyMilla appeared again!
This bothers me a lot!
One thing I forgot to mention is that this unknown app of mine has no permissions listed and also has no ratings or comments section. Does your Timothy Milla app have all these usual "bits" shown in its listing, or are they also missing on your mystery app?
As for the permission list, I don't see one too. But I don't see permission even on other normal apps. As for the comments, yes, they are present, I see few comments.
This morning I had 4 apps in the update list on my tablet, but the mysterious app previously discussed was gone. Hopefully Google figured out what was going on and dealt with it on their server.
Actually it disappeared again on my device too.
So, it seems to be a Google Play issue.
I'm getting the same information on the similar thread I started on Android Forums, so it looks like the issue has been discovered and fixed.
Not spyware
Well this is a little flattering... I'd just like to clear some things up. No, this isn't some major hack on the Android market that puts you all at risk. It is however, a huge bug in the new Play Store Google put out a little while ago. Let me explain: Google used to have a list of package names that they would screen from appearing in the market for example, preinstalled apps such as Teeter. Somehow when Google updated to the Play store, this system got reversed and it somehow picked my developer account (I'm still trying to contact Google and find out how) and displayed this on your "My apps" section. No, the app was not automagically installed on your phone, it was always preinstalled but it just now showed up in the Android market because of faulty programming on the engineering team for Google Play.

There is no way my device would have an intrinsic application which doesn't even list itself in English. Especially because the device on which it appeared is running a custom ROM, so I know which apps it would have "preinstalled". I believe what you are saying is that Google initially chose to block your account based upon that app, and it somehow got through. They likely had a good reason to do so. I see you do have other apps on the store, but every one of them lists in English. Not very compelling evidence that the rogue app was something safe.

[Q] Is my phone infected?

Hi
I recently downloaded dSploit from their website, but after I found it on Play Store too, I just downloaded that one instead.
I saw that my date was 1-1-2015, so I thought that it was a malware. I deleted it and then tried open Play Store, but was not able too. After waiting for Play Store (as I just thought I had slow internet) two messages popped up. One that said something with an program trying to connect to Play Store and another saying Google Maps could not work/open or something like that.
I fast turned off the phone and opened it again. After that my date was normal and I could open Play Store. I downloaded 360 security and ran a scan and it said my phone was clear.
But just to be sure, is it possible for malware to hide on Android, just like on an PC? Also, is their any way I can check if it's still there, as I dislike an malware being able to spy.
Thanks in advance
No there is no maleware in your device(uptil I know). And the reason why your play store was working is because of the date and time. Play store does'nt works if the user does'nt enters the date and time correctly.
Please press the thanks button if you think I helped

Well kind of, but you still get a thanks.
The thing was, that the program I downloaded from Play Store changed my date and didn't allow me to surf the web without getting redirected and so on.
So what I was curious about, was that after deletion of the program, am I still infected or can malware hide on Android, just like on windows? Or when then app itself is deleted, so is the malware?
Thanks in advance
Well I think there is no maleware but I still prefer you to run an anti-virus check so all of your doubts are removed

[Q] Google play store not working

Hey everyone,
Title says it all really over the past few days over several devices and different users in my household we have noticed that Google play store isn't working properly, we are receiving errors, connections issues and general problems overall.
I contacted Google who didn't do much in all honesty and they advised me to clear the cache for the app on my phone and clear data on both app and googleplay services, which I have done but since doing so my okay store loads but I get the error message check you connection and try again.
I have reinstalled the app using the apk on here and still the same problem.
I'm not to worried about it as I'm pretty sure the problem lies with Google especially since its happening in several device (using different accounts and same accounts)
Is there a fix for this or is it Google causing the fault as I have searched the net and found people with similar issues. (isitdownrightnow.com)
Many thanks

Got this one solved for you mate, had the same problem.......... All to do with automatic time and date being out of sync with the play store. Go to time and date settings disable the automatic time zone and automatic time and date. change the date manually to say....the same date but 2013. go back to home, then go back to date and time settings, enable both time zone and time & date auto's, and hey presto........play store's back to normal.
happy days
What do you mean when you say "not working"? Do you get an error message? Does it simply crash/force close?
Did you do something to the devices between the Play Store working and not working? Did you change your internet setup somehow? Did you move to a different country? Did you start worshiping Lord Xenu?
Play Store needs to be a system app. You say you reinstalled it, so I'll assume your devices have root. When you sideload an app it installs as a "user" app. Play Store needs to be a system app. Use whatever app you used to uninstall it to change it to a system app (most root apps that can uninstall system apps have this feature...if what you used doesn't, you can find ones that will, some free). If this isn't the cause of your problem, we'll need more info to help you.

Hi
When I log into the Web version of the Google Play store, I see some applications that says they are installed on my phone, but in reality, they are not installed on my Samsung Galaxy S3.
Last year, my phone was out of service for 2-3 months (I had a spare cell), and I think this is the cause. When my phone crashed, I believe I had those applications listed in Play Store (web) installed at the time. After I finally came around at installing the stock ROM (Bell Canada), then these applications showed up.
Is there a way to re sync what I have installed on my phone (Google Play store android app) and the Web version of Google Play store?
Thank you for your help

I would suggest opening the play store app. Click the menu, and select my apps. Then select all. From there, by clicking the "x" next to uninstalled apps, you will remove any apps you are not using.
