Well I have just got my new phone from ATT and rooted it. I AM a beginner though I have flashed PSP's, Iphones, Wii's, etc so I am experienced in general stuff.
When I click on Flash ClockworkMod Recovery on ROM Manager a green line goes through ROM Manager but that is it. It does not install cwm. All I am wanting to do is flash my phone to MHX SUPERLITE for batterylife/speed. Any help?
Could somebody please help me out with this. I have litterally been reading tutorials all night and nothing has helped.
If you can help please contact me here

To install CWM you need to use Odin
First you need to follow this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340526
After flashing this through ODIN you have CWM recovery.
After you have CWM, then you flash superuser.zip
Voila. You are rooted and have CWM recovery.
If you need stock recovery you need to ODIN again stock recovery.
Hope this helps

Before I forget. Get a JIG. Once you have it you enjoy peace of mind that you can get into download mode any time you want.

Ok so my phone worked great then I rooted it and got to clockwork the red voodoo one and I flashed a rom ... I'm used to HTC so I assumed it was that easy... After the install the phone talks and says convert data partition data partition full or something in a creepy lady voice, my buddy said use odin and return to stock but Odin won't detect the phone in download mode I have all the drivers installed but I guess I dont have the download mode driver... Also I can't find a good Odin restore file cuz everything was on multiupload and the site is down can someone please help I'd really like to use my phone again... Oh and also when in clockwork I can't wipe the data partition it fails to mount ... Also in adb I do have superuser access but it still gets permission denied when I mount and try to format /data that way
if you're still under warranty just call tmobile and tell them the phone isnt working at all. dont tell them you did anything to it just tell them it isnt turning on. they will send you a new one. if your not under warranty, someone else here may have some better advice, but i dont. sorry.

I can tell you one thing. if you flashed cwm through rom manager, thats why you bricked your phone. the rom manager version of cwm for this phone has a bad update.zip file that makes cwm not fully functional. when you get a new phone or if you get the one you have working, do not flash cwm through rom manager. dl the update.zip file from the cwm thread in the sk4g development section and place it on the root of your sd. i had problems with my cwm and getting the right update.zip file has fixed it.
So,
I updated Blueberry rom to 2.1 and it worked. And then I thought, "hey, why not do a factory reset!" Bad decision!!!
When I did that it got stuck on the samsung boot logo
So then I thought, "hey, let's try reseting it to stock with odin!" bad decision!!!
When I tried it with odin it got stuck at factoryfs and then failed
So now when I start it it sais
"Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
So the only thing working right now is Download mode and some wiered version of CWM that only has a few options like flash update or something
Anyone with ideas on how to get it working again?
I would be forever greatful!
Not a place for such question. Wrong forum u chose.
And that is stock recovery, not some version of cwm.
Flash stock ics with odin 3.07 and report.
And ask the mod to move the thread to proper forum.

Coming to Topic as Gitanshu said use ODIN 3.07 and flash the Stock ROM...
What you have is not a weird version of cwm but the stock recovery... You just never knew it was there with the stock rom..
As mj.vikram buddy suggested.. Flash any stock rom you have downloaded and your phone should be back to it's original state..
And as an advice.. You are very close to making your phone into a very expensive paper weight if you don't know what you are doing.. Please don't experiment if you are not sure about what you're doing..

Click to collapse
I did try that before too, but now I have got it working again. What I did was just try Stock a few times over and over and suddenly it worked. wierd...
Thanks for the help!
(sorry for posting it in the wrong section)
If you want to use the BB ROM or any other rom remember one thing.
"BE PATIENT AND DONT PANIC"
Plus when I installed BB Rom i did a blunder.
Back then BB Rom was in three parts each to be installed separately.
I installed them TOGETHER and got stuck on the Samsung logo.
Pulled the battery out and Entered the CWM recovery.
Being a noob back then i did not know about the CWM backup option (Do it if you dont have it..it is a must before trying any custom Rom or modifying your device.
Method: Enter CWM Recovery..select the option backup.
And if something goes wrong enter CWM Recovery...select option Restore )
Performed a data wipe.
And to my surprise the ROM WORKED just after that.
Same happened with CAMP Rom. I did the same and it worked.
Plus i got stuck in CAMP Rom. So i just flashed my phone via odin v1.85 (forgot altogether about my backup) and my.phone.was back to.stock ICS.

Luck matters maybe?
But being impatient is not the way out.
And now Flash CWM and try any rom.
Dont be scared
It happens...S.H.I.T. Happens.

I first want to start off that I am brand new to all of this. I have been reading up about this for a while and finally decided to root my Galaxy S3 the other night. I followed the instructions by Phone Rebel in his Youtube video. I used these files: Download and Install Samsung Official USB Drivers - Link
Download and extract ODIN v3.07 - Link
Download the Zip Below
For Both Root and Unlocked Bootloader ***RECOMMENDED*** – Download SuperSU + Unlocked Bootloader to your SD Card - Link
Download the VRALEC Bootchain - Link
Download one of the below
For ClockworkMod Touch Recovery 6.0.1.2 (Download this to your computer) - Link
For TWRP Recovery 2.3.1.0 (Download this to your computer) - Link
Download the VRBLK3 Bootchain - Link
After completing the root, it automatically installed SuperSU. (not quite sure what it does, again, i'm very new to all of this) After reading up on what to do after you root, I read that it is a good idea to download ROM Manager as well as Mobile ODIN. I installed both, difference being I bought Mobile ODIN Pro.
Using ROM Manager, I tried flashing CWM Touch, I was successful in doing so. However, when I boot into recovery, I get a message stating that ROM will flash back to stock after boot. Do you want to fix? Yes= this can not be undone. No. Or Go Back. I was scared to press yes because I didn't know what it would do. I have not installed any custom ROM because I'm not 100% sure on how to do it so I am not going to take the plung until I know.
Any suggestions or answrs on how to fix this issue would be appreciated. I do want to flash a custom ROM like Cyanogenmod. I've just read that it's a really good custom ROM. Any ROM suggestions will be greatly appreciated as well.
Also, I've read that you have to back up IEML or IMEL? ( I probably butchered that all up, again i'm sorry) I have Titanium Backup, can i do it with that? And if you install a custom ROM do you have to do a wipe of your phone? If so, how do i do that? And if Verizon releases another OTA update, can I accept it or will it brick my device?
Thank you in advance for all your help.
It will ask disable stock recovery flash. You have to say yes else it will flash stock recovery and you will loose the cwm touch recovery which you flashed.
Thanks doesn't hurt....

As for the imei backup, you can not use Titanium Backup. There is a thread which talks about the imei backup and restore process. Try searching for it.
Thanks doesn't hurt....
I am trying to remove any trace of CWM on my rooted Galaxy S3. I rooted it using the Casual Root kit. I did not install CWM for a long time because I had no need of it. When I wanted it, I did not know I had to unlock the bootloader first. What I did was download the ROM Manager and installed CWM from there. It was a clueless move. When it didnt work, I went back to the Casual Rook kit and continued the steps in it to unlock the bootloader and install CWM Touch (I finally figured out that I needed to do it in that order).
Now when i boot into recovery via Rom Manager, I get this error:
# Manual Mode #
-- Applying Multi-CSC...
Applied the CSC-code : VZW
Successfully applied multi-CSC
This version of CWM is not the touch version provided by the Casual Root Kit. It is the original one i tried to install in Rom Manager. How can I erase all traces of CWM and CWM Touch and just use the kit. I dont want to flash back to stock, as i am just running the rooted stock.
Thanks in advance. Also, if this is in the wrong thread, let me know where I need to put it.
You could try twrp...install that from goo manager

When you write a new recovery to the recovery partition it will overwrite the old one. You don't have to "clean up" old versions

First off I am a noob!!
I have bricked the darn thing, and I want to get Jelly Bean on it, I have the CWM Recovery v6.0.4.5.
I cannot find any files that the tab will load, I've tried a bagillion CM's and they all fail trying to install, so I'm done with trying to use CM.
Please help me, I'd love to get my tab working again without having to pay a fortune to some shop!!!
:crying:
Hello, I am in the same exact boat as you, did you ever get it working again?
Probably best to use Odin and install a recovery image, and start over.- Electron73's Odin Pack for the i815 is here: http://www.mods4cars.com/pub/xda/i815/electron_i815_odin_pack.zip
When I had this issue, I used the electron_ICS-LP11_i815_recovery.tar file in that zip package.
I ended up using the TWRP 2.8.6.0 from here: http://d-h.st/F2Q8 - built buy danielhk here on xda.

also - don't wipe anything in recovery -
- Flash the latest TWRP with ODIN
- Do NOT wipe anything
- Flash the custom rom of your choice
- Reboot recovery
- Wipe what you need to wipe
- Re-flash the custom rom
- flash the gapps or whatever
- Reboot, done.
