Help please - T-Mobile Sidekick 4G

Ok so my phone worked great then I rooted it and got to clockwork the red voodoo one and I flashed a rom ... I'm used to HTC so I assumed it was that easy... After the install the phone talks and says convert data partition data partition full or something in a creepy lady voice, my buddy said use odin and return to stock but Odin won't detect the phone in download mode I have all the drivers installed but I guess I dont have the download mode driver... Also I can't find a good Odin restore file cuz everything was on multiupload and the site is down can someone please help I'd really like to use my phone again... Oh and also when in clockwork I can't wipe the data partition it fails to mount ... Also in adb I do have superuser access but it still gets permission denied when I mount and try to format /data that way

if you're still under warranty just call tmobile and tell them the phone isnt working at all. dont tell them you did anything to it just tell them it isnt turning on. they will send you a new one. if your not under warranty, someone else here may have some better advice, but i dont. sorry.

I can tell you one thing. if you flashed cwm through rom manager, thats why you bricked your phone. the rom manager version of cwm for this phone has a bad update.zip file that makes cwm not fully functional. when you get a new phone or if you get the one you have working, do not flash cwm through rom manager. dl the update.zip file from the cwm thread in the sk4g development section and place it on the root of your sd. i had problems with my cwm and getting the right update.zip file has fixed it.

[Q] Attempted to root my i727r

Have a rogers S2LTE, running ICS 4.04.
I ran Odin and used cwm recovery, and used what I found to be the most recent TAR file for the i727r.
during the download procedure to put superuzer on the phone, I had one error aborted installation, but success the second time.
Everything seemed normal, albeit aside from a slightly slower speed in the operation of the phone.
The only reason I noticed something was wrong was the fact that superuzer didnt really do anything, I couldnt add any apps or get past the initial screen.
Also, titanium back up didnt work, stating it couldn't get root permissions.
At this point, I installed root checker and got a negative response on my phone being rooted.
I'm posting here as I'm not sure how to progress, and as the phone is running normally, and im not sure if any real damage is done.
Do I simply try to flash the phone with Odin once more? Or do I flash it back to stock, and factory reset, and then try to root again?
Thanks in advance.

download procedure?
just put superuser on sd and install from cwm.
no root access means no su binary's installed. su binary's will not install from the superuser in the market that's just a front end.
wouldn't you also require busy box and then fix permissions using rom manager?

no. busy box has nothing to do with su. and rom manager sucks and you will have nothing but trouble if you use it. just download odin and cwm and superuser thats all you need to root that expensive phone.
Try the super user file located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1565126
I had a similar issue as you and the su in the link worked fine. If it fails keep trying, took me like 3 tries.

I used this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340526
but used the newest tar file provided on one of the rogers ics rooting threads.
As nothing is visibly wrong at this point, could I simply retry to root? Or should I wipe everything first?
So i tried to reflash again and use the new hercules file in odin.
All went well until I went into cwm recovery to make a back up, it said the it couldn't mount and aborted.
I backed up onto the SD card and it proceeded, however, when trying to load the superuser file from the external sd, it also said it couldn't mount, and aborted there.
any way around this?

dont use a touch recovery, flash a non touch recovery then install superuser. or put the superuser zip on the emm(internal sd).

weird, which method did u use to flash cwm
where is backup located, int or ext sdcard, which cwm version did u make backup
what do u mean it wouldnt read superuser, maybe redownload su and check the md5, running su in cwm has to b done a few times until it states that it has completed sucessfully
edit:try to mount sdcard from within cwm in "mounts and storage/mount sdcard" also mount emmc, i never had to do that but it might b that u have to do it once

well if you would just try a non touch recovery you might be surprised.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1725221
this recovery works and this is all the help i can muster up. so now if you cant figure it out then i guess you shouldn't be flashing phones.
I have the same phone this is what I did
Flash phone with CWM use this one
Clockworkmod Touch 5.8.1.3 Odin tar http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1566613
Then wipe data/factory reset, format- system, data and cache, and clear the partition and dalvik caches, do that to all of them 3 times each, using touch cwm.
Then odin ICS download it from here http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/
(make sure only Auto Reboot is checked nothing else)
Once the phone loads go through the setup then leave it alone, let it sit for about 20min then flash back the CWM. Then download Superuser from here and put it on the root of your SD card then flash it in CWM if it fails just keep doing it until it works, it worked the second time for me.
Once superuser is installed install busybox from the market and everything will work.
This method worked perfect for me I was having the same problem like you. The key is to wait about 20min after you flashed ICS before you do anything else.
Hope this helps you.
Well, the final superuser file worked, everything backed up perfectly.
Wanted to thank you all for you assistance. Vincom, if I knew who you were in Bolton, id buy you a beer, as I'm in your town 3 times a week.

I'm not entirely sure. After not being able to back up, I grabbed an external sd, put superuser on that.
The back up went through with no problems. Also, superuser installed on the 2nd try and all went well with permissions from there.
Friend of mine had picked a zip file labelled "root" to use with Odin, and I'm suspecting the tar files I had attempted with in the past weren't correct and this file was.
Either way, I have lots more reading to do to fully understand what is available to me now. Busybox, nandroid, ROM toolbox installed.
iv flashed my phone so many times that flashing stock and rooting seem tedious to me. glad you got it rooted, now make a nand backup so you don't have to do it again.
my 32 gig sd is filled with nand dumps lol i don't even have a game on it to play.

you may want to pay attention to information specifically pertaning to Rogers group as i think there is a difference, otherwise why would they categorize for "Rogers only".
as i did, my suggestion is, read read read.

Odin return to stock would be the option for stock out of the box with no root, but dont let one bad experience limit your options.
not every ROM is going to work the same for everybody and their phone. each phone is a little different. a ROM that works on one phone may not work the same on yours.
seems only way is odin stock pack ==> stock kernel ==> delete extra files from root
is odin stock pack really stock?? no need to csc file?
now other question:
when i want to install update.zip in e3 recovery ( to install cwm ) i receive this error :
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verifiction failed
why?
thanks...
here is the solution.

are you just returning to stock without root?
or
return to stock,root & modded 3e recovery?
the signature fail is what i got when i was rooted and wanted to flash.
what i was missing was the "CommunityKernal.tar.md5". dont quote me on the exact name of the file, but it was a community kernal. i have the file on the wifes laptop, not mine. not exactly sure how to post link either.
i had a short recovery after "stock, root & modded 3e recovery"(cant remember color, think it was green). after flashing community kernal i had a longer list in recovery and it was red. was good to go and flashing everything in sight.
your Odin "stock,root & modded 3e recovery" took about 5 minutes ???
community kernal flashes in Odin also, but will take only about 15 seconds.
same method though.
i am sure somebody on here would have the community kernal if it is not outdated, though whenever i used it, it works flawlessly.
somebody may have a faster way, but again nice and safe for me
these are two separate questions
1 how too return to stock 2.3.3 (solved )
2 i downloaded modded e3. but there is no recovery in system/bin to replace it. so i only pasted it there
installed rom manager== > choosed i9000 ==> flashed
when i want install update.zip i receive above errors

still say you need community kernal.
from the information your giving, i think your using unecessary software, ie. rom manager and maybe you are skipping steps.
what are you trying to flash??? (GB, ICS or JB) there are important steps to progress from one to another. if you skip, you get problems.

OOOPS
The modded recovery process will not work with your phone as you noticed, there isn't any recovery file.
Did you already remove root? You will need it for CWM recovery.
I'm not completely sure if a GB kernel such as Entropy's would allow you to use CWM. I'll see if I can find something about it
Edit: it seems I was right. Entropy's kernel should give you CWM. However, follow either one of these guides which use the Infused kernel instead:
I you have not removed root yet (start on step 2): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20140197&postcount=3
If you already unrooted, you will need to use Odin: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1197248

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Ace guide?

Hi there guys. I'm sorry for openning the new thread, but I just couldn't find the proper one for my question. After (hopely) we solve my problem feel free to delete this thread. I wanted to install Android 4.1 on my Samsung Galaxy Ace Gt -S5830. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1868121 I found this one very good. A lot of things are fixed. And I just don't know how to install. So if any of you have enough time to write me step-by-step guide, or if something like that exists on this great forum, please let me know. I want it so bad, cause I like it very very much. But I'm just too afraid to try to intall it on my own, cause im really noob when it comes to system booting etc. Thanks in advance!
Is it a zip package that u can install on recovery boot easy or is it one u need to use some program odin i think on pc btw cyanogenmod 9 goes really slow and f**ks up alot so i had to change back on my ace. If its zip that says something like "cm9 ace ota" you can try going to cwm recovery then i think you wipe cache and dalvik cache b4 or after installing i jus do it both to b sure any way then you go into install zip package and it should install if it doesnt it may say something like unable to parse package it may b corrupt if it says that. If it is an odin install you have to have odin on pc prefferably latest one this should be a guide to installing a rom with odin http://www.darkyrom.com/index.php?threads/flashing-rom-using-odin-step-by-step.7829/ hope it works 4 u.:what::screwy::beer::thumbup:
---------- Post added at 11:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:30 PM ----------
Btw slong as u have a copy of your original rom if anything stuffs up you should be able to flash original rom on phone with odin also if it gets stuck at boot just wipe dalvik cache and cache if that doesnt work id take sd card card out just in case and factory reset in recovery. U dont need to though but any apps installed on the sd card will b wiped (not saved apks just installed apps) oh forgot u need to install clockwork mod recovery before you do any of this zip package u download and install using stock recovery.

[Q] CWM Touch Issue

I first want to start off that I am brand new to all of this. I have been reading up about this for a while and finally decided to root my Galaxy S3 the other night. I followed the instructions by Phone Rebel in his Youtube video. I used these files: Download and Install Samsung Official USB Drivers - Link
Download and extract ODIN v3.07 - Link
Download the Zip Below
For Both Root and Unlocked Bootloader ***RECOMMENDED*** – Download SuperSU + Unlocked Bootloader to your SD Card - Link
Download the VRALEC Bootchain - Link
Download one of the below
For ClockworkMod Touch Recovery 6.0.1.2 (Download this to your computer) - Link
For TWRP Recovery 2.3.1.0 (Download this to your computer) - Link
Download the VRBLK3 Bootchain - Link
After completing the root, it automatically installed SuperSU. (not quite sure what it does, again, i'm very new to all of this) After reading up on what to do after you root, I read that it is a good idea to download ROM Manager as well as Mobile ODIN. I installed both, difference being I bought Mobile ODIN Pro.
Using ROM Manager, I tried flashing CWM Touch, I was successful in doing so. However, when I boot into recovery, I get a message stating that ROM will flash back to stock after boot. Do you want to fix? Yes= this can not be undone. No. Or Go Back. I was scared to press yes because I didn't know what it would do. I have not installed any custom ROM because I'm not 100% sure on how to do it so I am not going to take the plung until I know.
Any suggestions or answrs on how to fix this issue would be appreciated. I do want to flash a custom ROM like Cyanogenmod. I've just read that it's a really good custom ROM. Any ROM suggestions will be greatly appreciated as well.
Also, I've read that you have to back up IEML or IMEL? ( I probably butchered that all up, again i'm sorry) I have Titanium Backup, can i do it with that? And if you install a custom ROM do you have to do a wipe of your phone? If so, how do i do that? And if Verizon releases another OTA update, can I accept it or will it brick my device?
Thank you in advance for all your help.
It will ask disable stock recovery flash. You have to say yes else it will flash stock recovery and you will loose the cwm touch recovery which you flashed.
Thanks doesn't hurt....

baseband install?????

Ive got a lg g2x it has been flashed with different rom. but I put the factory rom back on it. But the baseband is wrong it just clicks when making calls. I fixed it before but now cant remember how to install the baseband. I have the one I need on my sd card just don't remember how to install or load it. Any help is appreciated.
Still no luck ive been searching all day. When I try to install from the sd card in CWM. After rebooting the back light for the screen just flashes and the phone doesn't load. Please help my Galaxy is busted need to switch phones
You don't need to install a baseband. Just the baseband fix. Search in the forums for baseband fix and flash the right one.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Thanks for the advise. Searching baseband fix brings up stuff that I have read all day. Is flashing a baseband different than installing from sd card in CWM? Sorry noob here. Might be reading what I need some where and just not understanding it. How do you flash the baseband? I know the baseband file on my sd is correct because I had the phone working before.
I honestly dont know how to updgrade/downgrade a baseband. But I'm pretty sure it's not as simple as flashing it. Like I said all you need is the baseband FIX for your phone to start working again.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1776843 Here's the sticky that's in the G2X General forum.
If you're on the new baseband and having popping issues then you need to flash the first download link in CWM. If you're on the old baseband and having popping/clicking issues when calling then flash the third download link in CWM.
Thanks again I have read that sticky. I did see where someone wrote that flashing is the same as a rom. When I go it that way It wont reboot. still searching and trying different things
Tried using the links from sticky. When I try to reboot after installing from sd in CWM. It flashes the LG logo then nothing. Screen just lights up goes dark then lights up over and over. Not sure if Im just not doing it in the right order or what. Can anyone help me with the actual flashing process or explain why it wont reboot

I believe so. Like I said im a noob. I don't do a lot with phones but normally can figure stuff out through forums. Phone is on android 2.3.3 right now. Kernal 2.6.32.9 build GRI40 software version lg p999 v20c. Not sure if any of that helps. Thank you for continuing to reply still hoping someone can be like hey your doing this ------ wrong
You have CWM recovery installed.....did you install it via NvFlash (the correct way) or was it done through the Rom Manager app (the WRONG way)?
First, I would like to know if you are rooted. Do you have the super user or SU app on your phone? You can open up a terminal emulator and type in SU and find out that way also. If it's not rooted, report back and I will give you a zip file that you can flash to easily root the device. Next, I would upgrade the baseband to 2.3.4 with the LG updater tool.
CWM was on the phone when I got it. So not sure how it was installed. I do have the super user app. How can you tell if its rooted? The phone had been messed with before I got it. That's how the baseband got messed up. I found how to fix it on here the first time. But now I cant find the same page/thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1037120
This may help
I tried the firmware it aborted install like others were talking about it doing.
I also tried the LGMobile support tool and cant get it to work. Getting really irritated that I cant figure this out.
I fixed it before and now I cant. Would be really nice if it would just reboot with the baseband. But no it gets stuck in a boot loop.
Thanks for all your help Pain-N-Panic kinda surprised no one else has chimed in
Have you tried doing a COMPLETE wipe of the device and re-flashing a ROM?
Complete wipe = data factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, format /system under the "mounts and storage" tab in CWM
I have done all that except formatting the system but just tried it and it still gets stuck in boot loop when I try to install the baseband file.
I should have bookmarked the page last time I know it wasn't this hard
The joys of noobhood
What is this baseband file you speak of?
Stop flashing that. It's not working. Do a complete wipe and Flash a working rom like vanilla cm7. Come back here and report.
If your phone can't flash a ROM and you get stuck in a boot loop I would reflash CWM with NVFLASH. Look around for NVFLASH in the stickies and you'll find it. Do you have an SD card? If so, make sure you choose the version of CWM that has SD card support within the NVFLASH user interface. Follow the instructions in the NVFLASH thread to the T in order to install it on your phoen. My advice:
1.) Download vanilla CM7 from get.cm and cm7 gapps package to SD CARD
2.) Reflash CWM to phone via NVFLASH software
3.) Flash CM7 and gapps from SD card through your newly installed recovery
4.) Reevaluate where your phone stands
Super one click says my phone is rooted.
Ive tried a few baseband files from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1680292&highlight=baseband+install.
And the one I used before that fixed it don't remember where I got that one. I can flash roms fine.
Get stuck in boot loop when I install the baseband.
The NVflash's that I found are for different devices. Would that matter? I also cant get the get.cm/app to install on the phone
I may just be having a Id10t .problem here.
I have super one click and odin. No NVflash no CM/app and no KDZ pogram that the above link talks about.
However I did this before was with CWM,SOC or odin
Which phone do you have?
As the story says, a kiss turned my G2X into an HTC Ruby!
Its a LG-P999DW
Pretty sure Odin is for Samsung devices only...it has no use for our LG G2X. If you can flash ROMs fine then your recovery is working properly. Have you tried using the official LG updater tool to upgrade baseband?
