[Q] Soft-Bricked friend's Infuse

I was trying to flash stock GB from Froyo on my friend's new infuse..
I followed all the instructions, however I got a Phone-!-PC screen.
I tried a JIG to get into DL mode but that didn't work.
Any help would be nice, thanks

Yes I was using Odin
That phone-!-pc screen is a form of download mode. You can use Odin here. Just reset Odin and restart your flash.

This might Work
Okay I just tried GTG's Ultimate unbrick, you don't need to go into DL mode to use it. It worked for me

Again, that was download mode.
You can flash the stock GB Odin packages there also.

agreed, that is a download mode, when you see the phone-!-pc,that is a download mode and odin should work at that point..

That's fine, and will work, but is unnecessary. You can flash the Gingerbread Odin packages in this mode also. If you restart the 2.3.6 package that you were attempting before, it will flash in this mode.

And to clear up any confusion, you DO need to be in download mode to use GTG's Ultimate Unbrick. You were in download mode, and that's why it worked for you.
EDIT: I just added this to the FAQ in my thread for the rooted UCLB3 Odin packages that I put together.:
3.) My phone is displaying something that looks like this: Phone-!-PC. What is this, and can I use these Odin packages from here?
That is still download mode. If you reach that screen, a flash has been interrupted or has failed, and you are in a type of backup download mode. Reset Odin, and start over with your flash. These packages will flash in this mode, just as they will in regular download mode.

[Q] INSTALL CWM using UBUNTU

I am trying to install CWM and then Flash a custom ROM on a stock SGH-I727 using Ubuntu 12.04. I don't have access to a widows machine and odin does not work in WINE. Any help would be appreciated.

Can anyone with the Basic with a Twist Kernel put up a mirror?

Every one of AntonX's links are down and I couldn't find any mirrors since all of his stuff is through drop box.

Why not Heimdall it again? If you went back to stock with Heimdall then you should be able to Heimdall a AntonX Kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19601810&postcount=2
Same procedure but the file name is different.
Also just to make sure, this only works on Gingerbread

[Q] Odin stuck in setup connection

I've been trying to root my S3 through XP running in VirtualBox. Whenever I try to follow the guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046439 I start with the first step, flashing the VRALEC bootchain, and odin just gets stuck at Setup Connection.
USB debugging is on
drivers are installed
tried different ports
using Odin 3.07
Yes, I was in download mode
Has anyone had a similar problem and know a fix?
Same

May be it is bricked, because the bootloader is corrupted.

Recovery Issue

So I'm having this issue with recovery. I recently got this Infuse and it was running cm9 but used the ODIN UCLB3 return to stock method cause cm9 was giving me issues and I always preferred running stock. Anyways, stock is painfully slow and laggy, so I wanna run jb 4.2.2. Now, here's my issue: I decided to try this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1776129 and followed the instructions but whenever I reboot to recovery, instead of the recovery menu appearing, what does show up is a mess of colored lines that look as if the lcd screen was cracked and nothing really happens no matter what button I press... I then wanted to try another recovery, so I used the ODIN method to install Entropy512's Daily Driver kernel with Red CWM Recovery and doing so made the recovery menu show up correctly!! I then followed the steps in the rom thread and it said to flash cm9 and gapps, reboot and when it got stuck in the splash to use power + vol up+down method to get back to recovery. well, whenever i do this, it does go back to recovery but, once again, instead of the recovery menu showing up, it shows all the messed up colored lines... i then have to use the odin return to stock once more and go back to stock :/ Im not at all experienced with samsung devices as all my previous ones were htc's, so any guidence and help would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advanced!
Sounds like you need to flash the GB bootloaders. Use qksters Heimdall found in my signature.

thanks for ur reply! i downloaded the heimdall back to stock but the heimdall dd kernel + red cwm links didnt work.... though, i believe its the same as the odin dd kernel + red cwm? would it be safe to use the odin version instead?
EDIT: well, im having another issue now... when using heimdall to flash the uclb3, it says i need to install the drivers... on the thread i ur sig it says to set them up and using heimdall method it prompts (right after the failed flash) to download the drivers, and, in order to do so, i would have to select "Samsung USB Composite" on the window that openned later, but that specific driver never shows up for install on the list... any help?

Drivers should be in the package. Don't recall exactly but I think the file is labelled zadig. I don't use Odin but if you can flash bootloaders from it you should be okay.

In heimdall suite open driver folder then run zadig as administrator, then click options, show all devices

Thank you both!! I followed ur instructions and managed to install the drivers and return to stock using heimdall method!! Next, attempt to flash cm9 and hope it all goes as it should
If you get rainbow effect again, you will need to flash bootloaders.

ok, so now i have another issue. i went to flash the red cwm but the links on the thread appear to be outdated and so i couldnt download the heimdall install mehthod for the entropy dd kernel + red cwm. also, the phone is (for some reason) not recognized by odin (probably cause i have no root??). the heimdall return to stock wasnt rooted, so now i have to root. i tried the superoneclick from one of the threads on here but it froze and wouldnt work, so i downloaded the superoneclick on the android developing and hacks forum and it gets stuck on shell rooting device... - Step #7. sooo, what can i do here?? thanks for the help so far, btw!
EDIT: ok never mind, i flashed infuzen a16 kernel and got the red cwm... so i went ahead and restored a backup i had made before i attempted all of this and now im back rooted now, im off to try and flash cm9!!!

I recommend reading, reading, then reading that thread many more times. I have read it and followed the links in it many times. About every time I do I notice or pay attention to something else helpful.

definitely, and especially since this is all so new to me coming from htc... and, to add even more reasons to the convenience of reading all about the infuse, i think this is gonna be my daily device for quite some time... so i better read up on all i can!!
Also remember that the file format changes to MDT and any screw ups will probably require a return to stock using Heimdall or Odin. Read the OP instructions very carefully.
This is a guide guide to use too.
