How is Sense 4.0? - HTC Sensation

I recently just moved away from Sense 3.6 (used it for a few months)
and I'm happy I made the right move, Sense 3.6 seems sluggish, laggy overtime
Though I must say it was a huge improvement from 3.0, and i love the features
How is Sense 4.0 so far? comparing to 3.6 and AOSP
I haven't had a chance to flash 4.0 yet, currently using Virtuous Inquisition v4.0.1 (love it)
I was thinking is it worth my time to flash Sense 4.0 rom?

I Have been running it for a day now and loving it.HUUUUGGGE improvement over Sense 3.5/3.6 IMHO.Major props to HTC.

I am also enjoying Sense 4. Shame that HTC decided to remove quick settings though. Hopefully the devs will manage to implement it again at some stage

I like Sense 4 but right now all the roms have too many bugs for me. Will be switching to it when a stable rom is out tho for sure.

I tried sense 4 today.
is like a blowjob, but better...
I just back to 3.6 (really I have no lag in 3.6...) because I'm waiting for a full working version, but I wanted to try that

I have tried some version of sense 4 , and I love it, exept one lillte thing the arrows in the botton when you are typing with qwerty, only thing that makes me go back to 3.6 :/

Sense 4.0 is much smoother hmm i think its perfectly smooth everywhere and it is very fast. and the greatest think : its just very sexy

Sense 4.0 is the best Sense I have used to date. It is so elegant, and smooth and just overall very nice looking.
I can even say that I would buy an HTC phone only because it's got Sense 4.0.
Before 4.0 I was pretty much indifferent to Sense. It wasn't a selling point to me, with Sense 4.0 it is a selling point.

I really like using Sense 4.0. Its smooth, fast, elegant, and a lot of improvements over 3.6. A couple of things to mention. 1 no quick settings in the status bar, really miss that. 2 The only thing not working is Bluetooth.
Aside from those 2 things, you should definitely give it a try. I'm using OrDroid 1.7.4 by shnizlon. He's been putting a lot of effort into this rom. I have also tried InsertCoin Beta 13 and Kings SyndicateROM. Both equally great.

4 me Sense 4 is just a step back. Not as smooth as 3.6, no rotating rosige (stock) etc. And i dont Like the style of Sense 4, just the widgets look better, and wallpaper xD. Greetz
Sent from my HTC Sensation using Leedroid 7.01

dont know why they would remove quick setting of the status bar hope that changes
and is it me or does it look a bit cartoonish :O

Sense 4.0 is a huge improvement. Installed a sense 4.0 rom yesterday, no problems yet. I know BlueTooth doesnt work, but that doesnt matter as i dont use bluetooth at all.
Only annoying thing are the arrows on the bottom of the keyboard!

I'm using [ROM][Sense 4.0][MAR.29] OrDroid 1.7.5 | Fast & Stable (updated to 1.7.5 few minutes ago) and i like it very much, using this ROM from begining and also arrows are removable in latest version. Read about some bugs, but i don't have any, only bluetooth, which i'm not using, but this problem is for every Sense 4.0 ROM as One S has 4.0 version, but Sensation 3.0.

I'll be more specific.
Looking for a cool room which is stable.
A room which differs from the regular Android and sense ( Wp7 , ics , etc. )
You can't get much more different from Sense than using an AOSP ROM.
Cyanogen is one, although it has stalled while they work on ICS. I like MIUI and the Galnet one seems particularly sweet and stable. I use mine for work as well as personal and don't seem to have any problems. The most customisable of any ROM and some of the lock-screens make you keep waking the phone up just coz they are so damn good to look at or show off.

I tried it one month ago looking for an ics rom but i did not enjoy it so I reverted to my endymion 3.4 backup (which i think it's still fantastic!).
In fallout I didn't find a way to disable battery %, it lacks some htc widgets and lockscreen (i really like the one with weather)
But beside this, it's really smooth.

Their first ICS release was buggy and gaming was a bit of a no go, so i went over to InsertCoin for a while until the 4.0.3 came from ARHD.
Been using that since yesterday with 1.5cpu 300gpu kernel and so far it seems very stable, still no dungeon hunter though

Nothing BEST you can find. The only available is FIT with your need. Tell us what you like, what you want, what you need. User here probably can assist to give you some opinion. I'm on ARHD 6.0.2 but discharging all 3d widget, and all widget. I do like plain AOSP, but I feel comfortable with htc mail, contact and keyboard. when take "combined" rom aosp-sense ... some featur not work properly. i.e incoming call not show Icon on combining aosp+sense. HTC camera driver is better than aosp, thus I made ARHD 6.0.2 as plain as possible only 145 app left. changed roboto font to bitstreamVerasan ... roboto is too small for me.
It's main reason we join xda ... to learn and having fit ROM ... stock always give you what you dont need and dont use

Well, I enjoy flashing all of them while they are in the stages of development. I like to think of each Rom like that of a child. They all start out seeking the same goal, but instinctively over time each one starts to develop a different personality. Some, and no fault of their own, are a little slow while some are pushed to fast and suffer a lack of control. Some can be predictably stable but not overly exciting. While the other side wonder about with a mind of their own seeking direction. So, to best answer your question, have some fun and challenge yourself by giving them all a chance. Isn't that why you are here on XDA? Lastly, and without a bit of irony, I have paused curiously checking out this kid that was quirky at first, but now is starting to feel comfortable and trustworthy. Ive noticed over the days a quick pace in mind which ends at the finish without any lag or do overs yet knows their is much to be learned. Finally, standing strong, front and center, I refer to you "Virtuous Inquisition 2.0.1"
Wld u consider these roms for daily use? A lot of folks end up gng back to GB...

There's no going back for me or many other members using ICS!
Well, I did like Virtuous Inquisition 1.4.2 very much, but have found many bugs in 2.0.1 that took my pleasure away (FCs here and there, can't choose Ringtones, etc.). I am using 1.4.2 as my daily driver and think it's pretty far away from an early alpha stage. But there are bugs... e.g. can't use the QuickLinks more than once in Dolphin Browser Mini, Winamp seems to be buggy etc.
Came from CM7 Alpha, so I'm used to use an alpha for my sensation Hate Sense, so AOSP or nearly AOSP fits me most.
Just my 2 Cents
If you didn't upgrade to ICS yet don't do it!
Why?
Because:
-Scrolling is slow
-Some games are not working
-Many apps FC
-Battery is horrible if using wifi
-SD messing up from time to time
-ZERO mods because htc's systemui is not compatible with apktool
So better stay with GB or wait for CM9
Have to admit, scrolling is a turn-off... Also had many FCs. Otherwise, I like the speed improvement. Don't have much battery drain.
@vegetaleb: Which ICS Rom(s) did you try?
Read somewhere, that InsertCoins ICS might be very good...
.edit: Virtuous Inquisition 2.0.1 is now working a lot better. Probably installed some 1.4.2 Apps from HTC via Titanium Backup which caused htc.com FCs.
I am using ARHD 6.0.2(ICS 4.0.3) And is amazingly smooth ,fast, very good battery life, waiting for CM ICS stable now .

SENSE 3.6 or 4.0 ROMS?

EDIT: FOUND MY ANSWER. however...
did some searching and i guess that the WiFi calling issues are due to Tmobile so i guess we'll get working Wifi calling whenever Tmobile releases their update for the sensation :[ which could take up to a month or more (theyve been saying April how long now? 2 months? BS.)
i guess my options would be either revert back to Gingerbread or stock ROMS with functional wifi calling ORRR suck it up until they release the update and devs apply the working wifi calling to their roms eh?
Which sense ROMs out there would you say are the most "complete" as far as less bugs?

Sense 3.6 for now
Been trying a few Sense 4.0 ROMS. Some were very good and stable, some had a few minor issues - as usual fixed very quickly by the rockstar developers.
My personal view, I didn't find a major improvement in my user experience with Sense 4.0. That coupled with the rock stable nature of 3.6 ROMs, I am sticking with 3.6 for now.
Some experiences with Sense 4.0:
1. Noticeable lag when switching back to the home screen. Insert Coin. Not sure if fixed.
2. Camera crash - ordroid but has been fixed.
3. SMS widget was ICS stock - Elegancia - fixed.
Virtuous Eclipse i thought was the best among Sense 4.0 ROMs. No obvious issues.
That said, the day Android Revolution HD comes out with a Sense 4.0 ROM, i switch immediately.
I have the feeling that the Ordroid Rom is no longer close to the original. I would have liked this Rom as much as possible unchanged.
I like Sense 4.0 on Android Revolution HD 6.6.2!
: D
Sense 3.6 ROMs are without a doubt, the most COMPLETE. Sense 4.0 still has bugs, but I hope not for long. However, Sense 4.0 ROMs are known to be faster as Sense has been made lighter.
For a hassle free experience, Sense 3.6 ROMs are perfect currently.

If your aim is stability then avoid Sense 4. The most stable roms are going to be the ones based on the 3.6 ICS update made for our phones. I'm not saying Sense 4 roms aren't stable, but a rom like ARHD ICS is certainly more so.
If you need the Bluetooth Hands Free option on your phone then you will not want Sense 4. Unfortunately that is one option that all the Devs have yet to fix.
Personally I cannot wait for them to do it, Sense 4 is great, but the Hands free is a necessity for me, so I'm back on 3.6.
I try a lot of roms with Sense 4, but stable, really stable only CoinDroid by Shnlon n Baad

I'd agree with this. I'm running CoinDroid and I like it, but I have frequent lockups. This seems to be related to wifi (with wifi off it runs all day, but if wifi is on and I move between access points I end up doing a battery pull or use adb to reboot). Bluetooth, FM radio, and internet pass-through don't fully work. If you don't rely on those capabilities it's "stable", but otherwise stick with 3.6.

Run each and decide which you prefer?
I used ARHD when I first rooted my phone. Loved it, but once Sense 4.0 came out, never switched back to ARHD. OrDroid is what I've been running for a while and I love it. Good support and great ROM. Stick with OrDroid.
I would recommend Elegencia. Very clean ROM. See my sig. Otherwise, ARHD is also solid.
They are the 2 ROMe I've been running recently. On ARHD T-Mob right now, Rosie is definitely smoother, swiping away apps is smoother, but notification pulldown and settings menu are slower. OrDroid 7.1.3 Rosie isn't as smooth (and probably won't be for a while), but the pulldown is instant, and I would argue that Sense 4 is better overall than 3.6. I'm personally going back to Sense 4, but ill probably try one other than OrDroid.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
ARHD was the first ROM I flashed, but I just like sense 4. OrDroid is my best choice. The ROM gets updates in just a number of days. Also its now better than ever and I haven't really faced major issues. Both ROMs are good performance wise. No lags and all. It's up to you if you like Sense 3.6 or 4.0. Both ROMs should work well.

Both of them I used for a certain while,I like OrDriod because its GUI is awesome.
You really can't go wrong with ARHD. I think that the overall look of sense 3.6 is MUCH better. The clock on Sense 4 is kinda ugly, and the dock is like a throwback to gingerbread...
Also, the stability on a sense 3.6 rom is probably just better than a sense 4 rom.
i used both and preferred arhd because hdmi output is important for me. but when the hdmi problem solved for sense 4 roms i'm going to return ordroid. because sense 4 is more smoother than sense 3.6
arhd has no/any bugs. "everything" , i mean everything that come to your mind working perfectly, stable. but sense 4.0 looks amazing, ordroid work %95 perfect.
if you want stock look, choose arhd. if you want better look, choose ordroid. both roms are perfect.
For me, it's function over appearance - always. Sense 4 looks nice but it's still slower than Sense 3.6, though not by much.
OrDroid 8.2 (Sense 4.0) FTW! I have never experienced a better Rom than this one. Plus it gives you extremely quick and smooth Sense 4.0. I had my doubts before flashing it, as I was concerned about the performance of Sense 4.0, but it blew me away! I would recommend everyone to flash this ROM!

I think the dock on OrDroid is such an eyesore.
I used ADHD for months and it was solid. Recently I have noticed several bugs. It looks like mike1986 has a One X, so sensation support may dewindle.
