Has anyone else noticed that it is not as fast and doesnt seem to connect in the same areas? Is there a different modem we should be using?
I seem to be exhibiting the same thing...no more LTE all together actually. It says 4G in the notification area and whwn I run speed test it says I'm 3G...althiugh speeds seem a bit more like 4G.
Edit
I just got lte but def seems weird or different where I get it...
Mine works fine after the ICS update.

Still getting good speeds.
I was getting 30+ before and now barely 20
I just got 23.6mbps down and 6.6 up at 2 bars in my office.

Well that could just be because of traffic at that time of the day.
I just tested and got 20 down and 14 up. The upload is about the same but the download is about 10 shy in my office. Same location as I tested before the upgrade
I think the signal is less consistent/good, but it's definitely still possible to get the great LTE speeds.

While benchmarks are great, they don't necessarily reflect real world usage. I enjoy seeing 50 or 60Mbps on my phone just as much as everyone else, but at the end of the day in most cases, you'll never actually utilize that bandwidth under normal conditions.
The difference between 20Mbps or 30Mbps and streaming of videos is completely irrelevant, as you only need around 5-8Mbps for full HD quality.
I believe my speeds are just fine
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
time of day is a big contributor to the fluctuation in speed we get on our phones. location and of course whatever the eff at&t does to the network also make a big difference. to be honest, the leak is great, but i feel as though the official OTA (whenever that may be) will be so much more crisp in all areas.
LTE speeds are about the same on CALC4 vs UCLA3 for me.
I'm on the north end of LTE coverage in KC, tower to the south is HSPA/LTE, tower to the north is HSPA only and a slightly stronger signal. I've noticed that the phone spends more time on HSPA on CALC4 where as on UCLA3 it bounced back and forth between LTE and HSPA. Seemed that UCLA3 favored LTE, even though it was the weaker signal.
Lost lte after ICS leak install
I've been looking for another thread about this issue but can't find one. I had a strong, fast but not measured lte signal with GB. My area is in the middle of lte running advertised speeds. Since I installed ics leak I get 4G (settings in Network shows HSPA+) with no lte indicator. Anyone have any idea why?

I am not sure if it is the network adapter that is in this phone but I was experiencing blazing fast web browser experience.
This is a quote from my wife -- "Wow, that is faster than in the computer, It is Instant"
Literally, I click the button and the website is already loaded for me. I was connected on my WiFi.
Same scenario with my previous Galaxy S 4G was nowhere near even though that phone has a newer network adapter as well, supporting 21mbps.
I will be testing the 4G speeds on this phone and will post results.

Where is your information coming from regarding the G2x supporting 42mbps? According to all specs, it supports 14.4mbps.
I read here that it's 21?
http://www.phonearena.com/news/T-Mobile-G2x-Hands-On_id17612
"T-Mo has placed some of its own apps in the main menu, notably T-Mobile TV, which should work decent on account of the 21Mbps HSPA+ 4G radio in the G2x."

A blog saying it really isn't very concrete I don't think. I have seen more blogs say 14.4 than that one blog saying 21. However, I can't find it specified on the T-Mobile or LG official product pages. Can anyone find this listed somewhere officially.

I cannot. Both LG and Tmobile never state specifically the speeds this device can support
I think you should appreciate the speed measured in Lower Manhattan.

Doing pretty good here. VERY happy
i get about 7mbps occasionally. that's about the theoretical hspa speed so yeah i have the early stages of faux-g. i dont think they have the 21mbps backhaul yet just, the 14mbps backhaul. could be wrong but my att reps are saying that 4g isnt fully implimented.
I'm getting 10 mbps close to where i live. It drops down to 2-5 outside of town.

You probably mean 5.2 down and 1.3 up.
I'm in the Tampa, FL area. I'm getting 5+ down and 1-2 up pretty regularly in my area. I'm happy...it's beats the crap out of my old T-Mobile BS. More importantly, the coverage is WAY better.
Yes where do you all live? Where can I get these speeds?
Does anyone know if the icon in the task bar actually reflects what type of tower you are connected to? i.e. will it say "3G" if you are connected to a non-"enhanced backhaul" tower? Mine always shows the "H+" icon, and my speeds have ranged from 1.5Mbps to 8Mbps.
Well it shouldn't. Hspa+ should be available everywhere hspa was, and that's att's entire 3g network. So anywhere you got 3g you should get hspa+. That doesn't mean the tower can supply data speeds in the range of hspa+ 7mbit to 21mbit. The speed to the tower is being called "backhaul"
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
That's what I was asking - if the H+ indicated the tower was upgraded or if it just shows H+ always. I had hoped for the former but expected the latter.
the h+ is only the cell technology used between the phone and the tower, and all 3g towers are upgraded to use hspa+, but this doesnt indicate the towers connection to the network, so even if the tower can only supply 0.0000001mbit, itll still say h+. the only way to know what you can get from your area is to look at your actual speeds.
Just hit 11.47 down and 1.64 up out here in NYC. Pretty good if you ask me.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA Premium App
Thanks, that answers my question. I was just hoping for an easy way to know which areas were upgraded, since I assume that even with an upgraded tower it's possible to see speeds below 7Mbps and therefore it wouldn't be cut and dried. I've only seen 7+ speeds in one spot so far (at work), I see more in the 2 to 4Mbps range so I guess a lot of my area is not upgraded.
I am very envious. We are supposed to be getting it in the next month. Of course by then we won't have the free tethering anymore.

i am getting some truly amazing speeds right now. to get this on verizon, id have to have a phone twice as thick with a fraction of the battery life. im still convinced that att (atleast in houston) is the best network to be on.
if you look at the graph, it did blip over 14mbit before ending at 13.5
Nothing here in King of Prussia, PA (Philly suburb) to even match those speeds
Getting an abysmal 1300 kbps in download and a miserly 760 kbps in upload.
The best I've gotten is 6/2.
I'm disappointed in the "4G" to say the least.
Hopefully that changes.

Ok, so I was wondering, you know how under the testing menu and going to phone settings you can see info about your network and what not. Should I be seeing HSPA+ or just HSPA under "Network Type?"

It says HSPA under Network Type, but should it say HSPA+?
Don't worry HSPA is what I get as well on CM7 and I get 9MB download speeds so that's definitely HSPA +! Besides on stock Froyo its says UMTS but you still get 4G speeds so your good bro don't worry. Download speedtest app from market and test your speeds.

Man I don't have speeds anywhere near what you got, and I live in the heart of the city. Maybe I'm missing something. I've got the phone rooted, but is there something else that boosts speed? I mean, my UL speed is greater than my DL speed haha wtf.
EDIT: added SS
HSPA+ is running on the HSPA towers. So it says HSPA, but it is really HSPA+. I am in Denver and at work is always pull an average down of about 11-12mbps. But at home I only get about 3-4. It just depends on how many people are on connected on the same tower.
Why, Im only getting 1mbps in new york city? Lmao

For anyone who is here in the San Diego area, I'm getting LTE on my Skyrocket. It started tonight and so far I'm getting speeds of 16 MB down and 6 MB up but only with 2 to 3 bars. AT&T may just be testing their LTE here but I thought I would let it be know that LTE is here!

It's great to have LTE available to San Diego now. I just noticed the LTE logo today and found this post. I'm in Coronado right now. How are you guys measuring your speeds?

search the market for speedtest.net. there are a few other apps but it does the job nicely and keeps track of past tests.
I'm getting 19 down and 11 up here in Miramar. 3 to 4 bars on the 805 near Clairmont I hit 28 down and 19 up.
Hmm, I'm starting to wonder if AT&T just isn't saying they are turning LTE on...
I've noticed a LOT of cities that aren't supposed to have LTE till next year, have LTE on now.
Guess AT&T's pulling the ol' "We did it for YOU." routine.
I'm in Downtown San Diego and getting about 30mbps down and 9mbps up with 3 bars.
Here is the speed I'm getting in San Diego.

To many variants on this, how far from the tower, how much interference there is, how many are using the network.
Also on your last pic you are on the edge aka 2G network not HSPA+

That always happen to me when i Travel to Different Cities.
At home i usually get 5 mb/s and in different city i get 40kb/s
and i did make sure i was on HSPA+ and my signal bar was full.
Exactly, I travel all up and down Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina and Washington D.C. for work and I think the Max I've ever gotten was 7mb per second.

lol wtf r u guys on? i get even 8/s ussually
well the fact that they were all taken within 100m of each other and outside and in Philadelphia, like I said, means most of the reasons don't make sense.
I did take a few with Edge, which were a lot slower, but often had less ping time. Thanks for the feedback. I find it hard to believe that the traffic flux within 3 minutes would cause a 500ms swing in lag times so I'm kind of thinking that it's really an issue with the hardware/ROM that gives me such fits.
I have the same problem around Salt Lake City, UT. My phone will show 4g service, with full bars, and yet my connection will constantly stall out or not work. Some days it works fine other days it's worthless, even though it says 4g. F'ing tmobile.
Are you usually located in NY NY like speed test says? Because when I was in NY near queens, I only got hspa+ speeds to. When ever I came back home (Texas) I'm on 4g networks now. And I'm on latest cyanogen mods stable for g2x
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app
Its the G2x, not T-Mobile. When I had my G2x I would get max 7 down, higher ping, and same upload. But honestly, you don't really need much more on the G2x.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Accessing the network in Philly will lead to a lot of fluctuation, especially at 1:30 in the afternoon. A lot of people in the city use T-Mobile and peak hours suck here.
Also included in the issue is that while network is a major player, the speed at which the phone processes stuff hurts the speed. If your phone lagged up at any point during the test, you'll notice a huge fluctuation.
