San Diego LTE - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

For anyone who is here in the San Diego area, I'm getting LTE on my Skyrocket. It started tonight and so far I'm getting speeds of 16 MB down and 6 MB up but only with 2 to 3 bars. AT&T may just be testing their LTE here but I thought I would let it be know that LTE is here!

Good to know. When visiting there two weeks ago I was hitting 12-15 on 3g+ though...I would hope to have seen you guys get more of an improvement.
Keep testing for sure!

I've connected to it a few times tonight at my house in Jamul! But I'm getting no data even though it shows I have 2-3 bars

omg yea im noticing it too! i first noticed it in moraga ave and balboa ave like a little before 6pm yesterday. had two to three bars at the most i believe...but my speeds were 26 down and 11 up at the most..i have the skyrocket..i even had it at plaza bonita..and still have it here at home up in PQ..but then with like 1 bar only two if im lucky..and the speeds dropped to like 12 down and 1 up then did another test after that 1 down and 1 up..haha..i dont know.. guess theyre are testing it..id be happy with 25 down and 10 up always.. =)

It's great to have LTE available to San Diego now. I just noticed the LTE logo today and found this post. I'm in Coronado right now. How are you guys measuring your speeds?

search the market for speedtest.net. there are a few other apps but it does the job nicely and keeps track of past tests.

I'm getting 19 down and 11 up here in Miramar. 3 to 4 bars on the 805 near Clairmont I hit 28 down and 19 up.

Hmm, I'm starting to wonder if AT&T just isn't saying they are turning LTE on...
I've noticed a LOT of cities that aren't supposed to have LTE till next year, have LTE on now.
Guess AT&T's pulling the ol' "We did it for YOU." routine.

I'm in Downtown San Diego and getting about 30mbps down and 9mbps up with 3 bars.

Here is the speed I'm getting in San Diego.

Got this in El Cajon!
But I'm still having a problem connecting to lte at my house. It shows I have 1-2 bars but won't connect, its really annoying. Anyone know of an easy way to turn lte off? Like a widget

Question about HSPA+

Ok, so I was wondering, you know how under the testing menu and going to phone settings you can see info about your network and what not. Should I be seeing HSPA+ or just HSPA under "Network Type?"
Here is what I mean:

It says HSPA under Network Type, but should it say HSPA+?
Don't worry HSPA is what I get as well on CM7 and I get 9MB download speeds so that's definitely HSPA +! Besides on stock Froyo its says UMTS but you still get 4G speeds so your good bro don't worry. Download speedtest app from market and test your speeds.

Alright cool, I got that app, was just wondering. I thought the hspa+ speeds would be better out here by Boston, but top out at 4mbps.

I dont know man Boston is a pretty big city so getting 4mb down isn't all that bad, I've only reached 9mb down in the middle of the night lol, so maybe try it out then haha

Man I don't have speeds anywhere near what you got, and I live in the heart of the city. Maybe I'm missing something. I've got the phone rooted, but is there something else that boosts speed? I mean, my UL speed is greater than my DL speed haha wtf.
EDIT: added SS
HSPA+ is running on the HSPA towers. So it says HSPA, but it is really HSPA+. I am in Denver and at work is always pull an average down of about 11-12mbps. But at home I only get about 3-4. It just depends on how many people are on connected on the same tower.
Why, Im only getting 1mbps in new york city? Lmao

Verizon 4G LTE speeds in Colorado Springs, Colorado

Hey all. Looks like those of us in the 80906 area have 4G. Just got home to run a few tests. The first two are testing the server in Denver and the others are the closest one in the Springs.

I feel as though this is just a test and bandwidth is capped. At the end of the tests there is a huge spike.
Here's another test
Those images uploaded instantly
I think they are testing LTE in Knoxville, TN tonight because we aren't supposed to have it for a few more days.
Best test I got was 14.06mbs download and 9.15mbs upload.
The test average 12mbs down and 7-8 up.
*EDIT*
Speed seems to be fluctuating now.
Think the last one was a fluke lolz

Same here. It's going to be awesome. I just hope it reaches Oak Ridge. If not I hope they eventually expand it to reach there.
I think the fluctuation in my speeds are due to poor reception. Only getting 1-2 bars. Usually have all bars...
Tested just now, I'm getting 3052kbps down and 2594kbps up. I'm at Fillmore and Cascade just a bit north of downtown.
I had it this morning but lost it
I had LTE at my house in Colorado Springs but I lost it this afternoon. Must be doing some testing since we still have a couple days left. Anyone lose or gain 4G in the Springs?? I'm in Banning Lewis Ranch which is right next to Falcon which shows that they're covering more than just down town! Sweet!
Zoom, Zoom, Zoom.
4G seems to be working in way more places that 3g never worked in. This is at my work in a block/brick building in the 80910.

i got 4g to work at the academy/woodmen area today. hopefully 4G will cover the Air Force Academy as well.
Nice. I'm in Aurora and let's just say 4G is blazing fast !

Drving around town all day today. 4g is very spotty on powers rd near the base. Signal bars here is good. Here's to hoping they'll fix this soon. I'm already plagued by horrible signal ON the base. In their press release in March they said Peterson would be covered. Oh well.

My thunderbolt has a full bars of 4g on minute then 3g the next. I never get more then 5mbps down and maybe 1.5 down. I have done speed test all over town with the same lame results. Does anyone know if it will get faster I've seen 4g on this phone get past 20mbps I hope it gets faster in the springs.

Yup, I'm in the same boat you're in. My house is fully blanketed in 4g, but it switches back and forth constantly. I have the Droid charge. Fastest download was 10Mb but average is around 3-5.
ouch op, that is 3g speeds.
I'm glad its not just me. I even switched back to stock to see if that was the prob, it didn't help.

Has anybody seen better 4G speeds in Colorado springs yet I'm still running .5-3.5 mbps down and about 1mbps up with a ping of 500 ms. This is pretty lame I've checked all over town and I get about the same. I called Verizon and the were no help the standard restart your phone make sure your 4G is on , then they were gonna call me back in 48 its been 2 weeks.
Did some more testing in NYC yesterday, market is still as strong as ever:

lte speed not as fast with ICS leak?

Has anyone else noticed that it is not as fast and doesnt seem to connect in the same areas? Is there a different modem we should be using?
I seem to be exhibiting the same thing...no more LTE all together actually. It says 4G in the notification area and whwn I run speed test it says I'm 3G...althiugh speeds seem a bit more like 4G.
Edit
I just got lte but def seems weird or different where I get it...
Mine works fine after the ICS update.

Well that could just be because of traffic at that time of the day.
I just tested and got 20 down and 14 up. The upload is about the same but the download is about 10 shy in my office. Same location as I tested before the upgrade
I think the signal is less consistent/good, but it's definitely still possible to get the great LTE speeds.

While benchmarks are great, they don't necessarily reflect real world usage. I enjoy seeing 50 or 60Mbps on my phone just as much as everyone else, but at the end of the day in most cases, you'll never actually utilize that bandwidth under normal conditions.
The difference between 20Mbps or 30Mbps and streaming of videos is completely irrelevant, as you only need around 5-8Mbps for full HD quality.
I believe my speeds are just fine
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
time of day is a big contributor to the fluctuation in speed we get on our phones. location and of course whatever the eff at&t does to the network also make a big difference. to be honest, the leak is great, but i feel as though the official OTA (whenever that may be) will be so much more crisp in all areas.
LTE speeds are about the same on CALC4 vs UCLA3 for me.
I'm on the north end of LTE coverage in KC, tower to the south is HSPA/LTE, tower to the north is HSPA only and a slightly stronger signal. I've noticed that the phone spends more time on HSPA on CALC4 where as on UCLA3 it bounced back and forth between LTE and HSPA. Seemed that UCLA3 favored LTE, even though it was the weaker signal.
Lost lte after ICS leak install
I've been looking for another thread about this issue but can't find one. I had a strong, fast but not measured lte signal with GB. My area is in the middle of lte running advertised speeds. Since I installed ics leak I get 4G (settings in Network shows HSPA+) with no lte indicator. Anyone have any idea why?

LTE in Jacksonville, fl?

Okay so why am i getting LTE off and on here in jacksonville when we dont have lte? Here are screenshots. Im running a stock rooted odin gingerbread 2.3.5. This isnt a rom. I reset my network settings and rebooted the phone. Toggled airplane mode. No pattern. Just randomly have been getting lte off and on. Did speedtest and its significantly better. I run an average of 3mb/s on hspa but am getting 12mb/s when my lte icon lights up. The first screenshot is my average speedtest. The second pic is with lte (took screenshot after lte went away). The third pic is when i had lte at one point.

I have been to two ATT stores (one on San Jose Blvd/Southside) and both reps told me they were at a stand still because of the Osprey nesting on the towers and by law they cant touch them. I was like um WTFE but as I was driving down baymeadows towards 9A (on the left across publix) there is a cell tower with a nest in it, so who knows. Either way, ugh.
They flipped on LTE in Naples for a few hours last night and today it was gone bunch of c#@$% teasers.

HSPA+ data speeds. WTF T-Mobile USA

I'm just going to post a bunch of screen shots of my data tests. All were outside in central Philadelphia from yesterday around the same time. There is just a ton of fluctuation in the speed and ping/lag times. Any ideas on what's causing the flux?
I'm running The CM7 nightly from 1/1/2013 with Mazout's Faux revival kernel.

To many variants on this, how far from the tower, how much interference there is, how many are using the network.
Also on your last pic you are on the edge aka 2G network not HSPA+

That always happen to me when i Travel to Different Cities.
At home i usually get 5 mb/s and in different city i get 40kb/s
and i did make sure i was on HSPA+ and my signal bar was full.
Exactly, I travel all up and down Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina and Washington D.C. for work and I think the Max I've ever gotten was 7mb per second.

lol wtf r u guys on? i get even 8/s ussually
well the fact that they were all taken within 100m of each other and outside and in Philadelphia, like I said, means most of the reasons don't make sense.
I did take a few with Edge, which were a lot slower, but often had less ping time. Thanks for the feedback. I find it hard to believe that the traffic flux within 3 minutes would cause a 500ms swing in lag times so I'm kind of thinking that it's really an issue with the hardware/ROM that gives me such fits.
I have the same problem around Salt Lake City, UT. My phone will show 4g service, with full bars, and yet my connection will constantly stall out or not work. Some days it works fine other days it's worthless, even though it says 4g. F'ing tmobile.
Are you usually located in NY NY like speed test says? Because when I was in NY near queens, I only got hspa+ speeds to. When ever I came back home (Texas) I'm on 4g networks now. And I'm on latest cyanogen mods stable for g2x
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app
Its the G2x, not T-Mobile. When I had my G2x I would get max 7 down, higher ping, and same upload. But honestly, you don't really need much more on the G2x.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Accessing the network in Philly will lead to a lot of fluctuation, especially at 1:30 in the afternoon. A lot of people in the city use T-Mobile and peak hours suck here.
Also included in the issue is that while network is a major player, the speed at which the phone processes stuff hurts the speed. If your phone lagged up at any point during the test, you'll notice a huge fluctuation.
