Hello.
I want to know if somebody can/is run(ing) a stock Android email apk (as the one in the nexus phones or Xoom tablet), instead of the Samung email client.
I really want to use such version, as I cannot get confortable with the samsung version.
Instructions to install it? Sideload? adb push? where to find an apk?
I had a Google version running but I flashed a new rom after the leak and am having issues getting it to work. If I do soon I'll let you know

Use tibu and back up email, exchange, and social hub... Then delete and reboot.... Drop in the two apks below into system/app reboot and profit.
Could you post up some Screens? Hoping to include in this post.

I can't get them to work. It gets to the part where it asks how often to check. I click next. phone vibrates and email does nothing but crash and lock up the phone after that.
the emailExchange doenst work for me somebody know the issue?

These are the best email apps hands down.. the stock email.app got better but this is 'NEW GMAIL' style and works with your personal email box on pop3 or imap or exchange! its just great!

Did you try changing the permissions for both apps when you copied them to the /system/apps folder?
the permissions need to match the other files in the folder rw-r--r--
(all the read boxes need to be checked and just the owner write box needs to be checked)

Confirmed working with Smooth Ice ROM and Exchange 2003 server. So far so good. Wish I hadn't spent the $10 on EnhancedEmail...
the google email will not give me the option to push my yahoo email accounts any ideas?
I'm trying to get these email apps to work on LR2.6 but the emailgoogle.apk wont launch. It breifly opens before it FC.
I have tried fixing permissions but still no joy.
The reason why I have been lookign to change from the stock email.apk is that I couldn't get exchange to work properly with my work email which I did have working on a previous ROM.
Any ideas what I could do to get it to launch? Should this work on GT-i9100?

Works for me on NexusMOD UCLD2. It took me a few tries to get it to work though. I had to clear data for the built in email, then rename them, install the new ones and reboot. Let it settle. The first few times it would force close all the time, but after clearing data and then rebooting, it worked.
I finally managed to create some flashable zips that work, so you can move from Samsung email to Google/ICS email app much easier. All you need to do is go into manage apps, Email and clear data and cache (if any), reboot into recovery and flash ICS_EmailGoogle_update.zip. It will rename Email.apk, Exchange.apk and SocialHub.apk and install the new apks. To revert back to stock, again go to manage apps, Email and clear data and cache (if any) and boot into recovery and flash ICS_Stock_Email.zip. If you don't clear data, when you switch back and forth you will get FC's. I only use this with Exchange, so I can't verify if it works with other providers, but it works great for me.
I realize you can do all this with a rooted file explorer, but with the amount of times I seem to have to do it, this is easier...
As always, no guarantees, if your phone blows up, I'm not responsible. If you are curious, open up the zips and check out the scripts, just so you can see that I'm not deleting your system partition...

ITS COMPLETELY HELL, I CANT USE MY PHONE! IT JUST SAYS ERROR APPLICATION CLOSED, THEN CRASHES.

it happend to me again ,
after only one week of super wipe and install of ARHD 6.6.7 my facebook stopped sync my contacts.
i cant have their picture or have them in the people app.
the error im getting is : ERROR MESSAGE:: cannot retrieve the friends list. please try again: [content too large(length unknown) 650000
can anybody help?
i already tried to remove the account and re add it to my phone still no go.
any help will be great i realy must have this fixed asap

i think there is a contacts file of facebook that i need to delete , so i can install a new one.

Having some trouble with the gallery on my Galaxy Tab 2.0 7inch after clean flashing the latest CM10.1 nightly.
I can't see the Picasa web albums in my Google Gallery App. Google + is working fine and Instant Upload and Photo sync are turned on. Instant upload notifies my and photos i take appear in my web albums and the G+ app.
Here is what got me to here
1) Format Cache, Data, System, Davlik Wipe
2) Install 2013.01.23 CM10.1 Nightly
3) Flash Gapps 2012.12.12
4) Install G+
5) Discovered No Picasa in Gallery
6) Went to Setup/Apps/All Apps/Gallery Deleted Data from Gallery App
7) Tested To see if Instant Upload was working (its working, albums are just missing from the app)
8) Deleted my Google Account and Re-added it
nothing has worked. Any one dealt with something like this or have suggestions?

Okay I'm answering my own question... but the answer raises a new question
I just realized that GAPPS installs the Gallery2.apk and not GalleryGoogle.apk which explains the lack of Picasa. I tried manually installing the Google version, the gallery works but the camera crashes (i'm guessing due to Photosphere, though this method worked on 4.1.x roms) .... is there a way to get my picasa functionality back and keep a working camera?

Try flashing these Gapps over CM10.1 and 20121212 Gapps - - > http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-picasa-20121011-signed.zip

Hey thanks man. Flashing the Picasa Gallery and GAPPS ripped for JB4.1.x did the trick. The loss of the 4.2 gallery/camera integration is no big deal.
I'm curious about the warnings from the Rom developers not to mismatch GAPPS and Rom versions. Are there any potential adverse effects to this procedure?
ie
1) Flash 4.2 Rom
2) Flash 4.2 GAPPS
3) Overflash Flash 4.1 GAPPS with Google Picasa Gallery

I never had any issues even with the latest nightlies other that losing 4.2 camera/gallery
reset required ?
I too am facing this picasa problem and want to get it back. Can i flash the below gapps directly ? Do i need to do reset or data wipe ?
Also i face the same problem with Facebook. Stock ICS was showing up facebook albums but after CM10.1 it wont. IS there a facebook synchronizer app ?
Hi,
i have a problem with changing my contact photos for contacts synced with GMail over the standard Google Sync.
If I try to chance someone's picture with a picture out of my gallery i just get the following error and nothing happens:
I also tried it via the normal gallery app and the G+ gallery app and via the contacts itself, but always the same error. I thought it could be the google server but it's for the whole day today.
My Nexus 5 is on stock 4.4.2 rooted but no modifications.
Can someone confirm the problem? otherwise i will reflash the rom.

I already cleared the gallery data and the contact data and synced again.
I will try factory reset now. And then reflash the rom.

this is my first thread in xda and I'm quite new in here. The story is I jumped from galaxy s5 to padfone s which I'm quite happy with.
I rooted it immediately and started to remove some useless Asus bloatwares. After that I realized that im not able to edit or add any contacts.
I was able to see them though. So I tried to install third party apps like contacts+ and dialer+. They were working fine but I still had the same problem so I thought maybe the contacts storage is corrupted so I uninstalled it and downloaded another one... But im not able to install the apk. It gives me the apk not installed error.
And now I'm not able to use contacts dialer or even Gmail
any helps please!

Try to save your contacts on your sim card. Or try to install Asus Pasfone stock rom again and see if it works.

I have all of my contacts backed up on Google and gcloud. If install the stock Rome all of my settings and customisations will erase. I was wondering if I can install contacts storage and makes it work somehow!

Thanks. I downloaded the latest rom from Asus and flashed it. Everything is back to normal now. I lost all my exposed settings though :cyclops:
