Hi, i want to send my phone in service for ghost call issue and I wonder if they can check if the phone was ever rooted, or flash back to froyo.
i intend to make a clean install of official GB from my country on it before sending to them. Thank You.
Don't you have the right to hack your own mobile in Romaina? I am in Turkey and I don't give a **** if it was rooted before sending to service. It is just a damn software...
Update: There are unroot tools...

Remove su from /system/bin and /system/xbin, and superuser.apk from /system/apps. Alternatively, clean flash any rom and no one will ever know that your phone was rooted
lg tollerate root, they said more than one time, rooting a lg device will not void your warranty..
In Poland rooting voids warranty, so be carefull

so my dilemma is i bought a galaxy tab 2 10.1 3g version off eBay unknowing it had the china rom installed... most of the Google apps arn't there and kies doesn't work.
i saw this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1686514
and was wondering if i can just do the first steps of istalling the ROM without having to root it as i dont want to void the warranty. and also is this ROM the international ROM??? many thanks in advance.
yes you can just do the first step without proceed to flashing custom recovery and rooting
however, you should know that firmware flashing via Odin will result to flash binary counter increased, so technically your device will lose warranty as well...
I doubt Samsung will honor your warranty
I have an american purchased p3113 and was informed by their online support for warranty it can only be honored if picked up from an address in the country of purchase. You could log in to the samsung support site to verify your warranty situation if it concerns you.
why's it void my warranty

flash binary counter is what samsung use as mechanism to detect flashing firmwares without using official tools provided by samsung ota or via samsung kies... also as their alibi not to be held responsible if consumer modified/upgrading without official tools...
ok, here's a good thing, i've heard & read from users experience in forums, blogs & my own friends have their samsung devices sent to back to samsung centers & got their warranty claims granted even with rooted or flash binary counter increased... more about luck i guess... :fingers-crossed:
im guessing theres no way around it? thats definately lucky, probably comes down to if its hardware problem or program problem to whether or not they need to check it.
as for now for our device, i can only say there is no other way
Thats the worst

and i also got a thread in the forums on LG RCT forgets that your phone is rooted... but i think its only for the d620r variant of the phone, and i doubt it will work on the d618...

Ohhh ok ok... I've been wanting to unroot bcuz I've been wanting to get the lollipop update for my phone.. And then I read that you can't receive OTAs if you are rooted.. And the thread also says that you can receive OTAs if you have the stock firmware and recovery (which I have) I've read that in some other thread in the forums..

there are some that are unrooted but their phones fail at updating or downloading OTAs, they are using SuperSu as their unrooting method.... im not so sure about it... as i saw in the google play (i think) that full unroot is not a guarantee unroot

How about checking out how to flash the stock firmware to your phone via computer? Either just flash the latest firmware if available or flash the latest available firmware and then perform the OTA update. Of course you could try to unroot your phone first.

I have a galaxy s6 bought from malaysia and it was region locked. I initially thought it will be easy to unlock but I couldnt unlock it so I took it to local mobile service center. There they unlocked the phone. I dont know how they unlocked it but I think he used some box like octoplus. When I recieved the phone from him it was rooted and the knox counter was tripped.
I know I have voided the warranty but thats fine. Now I dont recieve any updates from Samsung. I want to flash the original samsung firmware back and I have the following clarification before doing it by myself.
1. If I flash the original samsung firmware using smart switch or odin will the phone be unrooted and will I start receiving updates
2. Currently in my smart manager-> device security it says security threat found and I get the notification "unauthorized action detected restart your device to undo any unauthorized changes". Will this error message go off and will the device threat go off.
3. Will installing My knox cause any problem or I should avoid installing it ?
4. Currently "In find my mobile" remote controls is not getting enabled. Will the find my mobile feature start working after flashing the official firmware.
Thanks in advance
Rahul

if you have tripped knox to 1 then the warranty is voided. you can't unvoid it. furthermore, malaysian SGS6 are G920F, which is supposed to be international unlocked versions. where did you buy this in malaysia? i hope it's not low yat or some shady place.
Yes its G920F. All Samsung galaxy phones are region locked irrespective of where its bought. I dint buy in low yat. But I just curious why you are skeptical about low yat ?. Is low yat not a good place to buy ?
I know I have voided the warranty but I want to know the answer to the above questions

you should try installing the official firmware through smart switch first. then slowly work on the rest. use emergency firmware initilization.
2. i'm not sure.
low yat can sell you at a cheap price, but i have had friends who had been conned of several things there before.
I am sure many would have tripped Knox and flashed stock firmware and you must be having answers to my clarification. Can anyone help me by answering my questions

bro, i suggest you try installing Smart Switch on your PC, then click more at the top right hand corner, click emergency firmware initialization > Device initialization > Key in SM-G920F > key in your Serial number > click okay (make sure to back up first) then install the latest firmware. That should unroot your phone. The rest of the questions you asked, may be fixed after you unroot your phone
Ok. Thanks zincsnow. I will try it.

you should talk to them about this. this is very irresponsible of them
This is India, you cannot do much. Any how I cannot use samsung Malaysia warranty here. I will not be using samsung pay here. My only concerns is getting OTA updates from samsung and find my mobile to work, because I have a previous experience of losing my phone.
zincsnow have you tripped the knox. if yes and if you are on stock firmware back. What does the device security under smart manager say ?

alright then. i have tripped knox but i haven't gone back to stock.
Bro, please follow this link to unroot your galaxy S6 and bring it back to stock.
you'll be able to update your device normally after that.
I have updated my device using smart switch now everything works fine. I didn't try installing my Knox because I don't need 2 environments one for work and personal. Thanks all especially zincsnow
I was surprised about one thing. I was expecting that once the installation is completed my phone will be in a new state but it had all my datas and settings intact nothing was changed, not sure if restore had run.

no worries mate. have a great day!
Hi all . I have rooted my phone (LG G3) and because of a problem i was forced to go to my service provider (LG) since its still under warranty . So knowing that rooting voids warranty i unrooted using superSU and then i verified with root checker getting back the message "sorry root access is not properly installed on this device" . So i thought that its all done and proceeded to use my warranty . couple of days pass and they called me and said that root was found on my phone and cant take it under warranty and i have to pay if i want it fixed which i am not gonna do cause its 200 euro to fix the motherboard. I asked them if i can do anything and they said that if i remove completely the root i can go to them again and they manage to fix it for free. So i flashed a new stock ROM to be sure this time is fine. Now what i am asking is can i somehow check in depth if its rooted or ever been rooted like traces and stuff . is there any program that lets me do so? i tried to find the program the technicians used but couldn't find anything.
Thanks in advance for all the answers and for your time .
