It's in the usual place (/sdcard/external_sd). I have no problem accessing it.

All my sd card contents disappeared after I flashed kd1 it shows that the memory is still taken up by the files but I can't find them I tried file explorer apps tried plugging the phone into the computer and still can't find them

Try removing the memory card and reading it directly from a computer. If you can see the contents, copy whatever you need out of it. put it back into the phone. Format. reboot and see if the phone reads it right. If it does, drag and drop whatever you backed up

Will try as soon as I find the micro sd converter

Looks like I wont be able to find the missing files because my little cousin had my phone and accidentally erased everything on the internal memory and sd card

Download photorec.
You can recover your SD card as long as you don't copy anything over to it
OK thanks where do I download it. I'm searching for it in the market and it's not finding it

Google it, it's a windows/linux/mac program.
So I think I've tried absolutely everything (that I can think of at least), but I can't seem to format my External SD Card. I've tried from CWM, from Windows 7 from and from an old Windows XP machine. I've when connecting to the computers I've done a manually deletion of everything on the SD-Card only to un mount it and re-mount it and find everything is still there. As well as right clicking on the drive and selecting format and then un mounting and remounting and finding everything is back. What is really weird is that everything indicates like it works but once I unmounted my SD-Card and then remounted it, it just comes back. I've also gone into root explorer and tried deleting it from there. If anyone has any other ideas I would sure be grateful to hear them. Thanks. Also my phone is CM 9.1.0 with root (obviously).
How are you mounting your sd card on the computer? You are only using your phone or you have an external reader?
If you are only using your phone the issue may come from there and you should try an external reader.
Also to format it in windows try right clicking our computer>manage>manage storage and there find your card an try formatting it.

@kishke I'm using my phone to mount my SDcard, I don't have an external SDcard reader on me at the moment. I could definitely give it a shot. I'll update you on how that goes. I'm also going to try the comment below as well. I did try and do a windows format and that didn't work either. So definitely stumped on this one.
Discovered some new info
So I found out that my external SDcard isn't writeable... but I checked the permissions in system/etc/permissions/platform.xml and everything looked good. Any different ideas out there?

If this was the case would I still be able to pull things off of the SD Card... because that works.

Yes. Sometimes you can pull data of a card that is not writable.

sounds like the card is junk
Hey guys,
Somehow through me messing with my phone I made it believe I have 2 external sd cards as well as my internal memory. The internal memory is the same as my first sd card and the ext_sd is my actual internal. Would anyone know how I can go about fixing this? It's not crucial to my phone it is just inconvenient and confusing when I'm moving files around. I have attached a screen shot of my file sizes from titanium backup. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Mine looks exactly like this, you didn't do anything wrong that's just how TB is. I'm on version 5.5.1.2 so it's nothing that you did. I honestly didn't notice until you posted this and I'll forget shortly after too.

Did yiu get this fixed yet?
No I have not. I think it happened when I reformatted my sd card. I think it is just something I have to live with.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
There is nothing wrong. Everyone's is like this. Internal and SD are the same thing depending on which app is looking at it. Recovery and root explorer call it SD and External SD.. It is internal and it is actually considered SD. External is your removable sd card.
Got a new 32gb class 10 card. So I copied old sd card to comp then copied to new card. Everything went fine , but once I reboot the phone, about half of the data goes into a folder called lost.dir and several folders appear with random lettering for names. No matter what method I use to transfer my days it does this. I've formatted in the phone. I've formatted in the comp . Neither my phone or comp day card is corrupted it seems ok. Has any one seen this before?

You said you've tried formatting several times. Just to check, did you do FAT32?

Just for debugging purposes, what happens if you insert your sd into the computer after booting once on the phone?

It recognizes it u can see all the files and the messed up ones

Its almost like every folder I add below the lost directory folder goes crazy and ends up in lost.dir going too try something and see if this works
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
So this is what I've found. No matter what files I add to the card the Minn I go over 3.75 gb and restart the phone the files that are over that amount get broken up into the lost.dir and folder replaces it with a u in front of since this is a 32gb card I'm betting the card is no good

have flashed several phones ATT, Sprint, and Verizon. I have two though I am looking at that have a an icon between the wifi and the battery circle. I am flashing CM 10.2 for FYI. The icon looks like a memory card with a "?" in the middle of it. What is it? Then following what is done to fix it? I have tried searching but without knowing the right words to search for I'm stumbling through. Please help me.
Phone isn't recognizing your SD card. Try moving all it's contents to a different storage like a computer and reformat the SD.

I do not have a memory card in phone other than the internal memory. Does the internal memory need to be reformatted? When view how much storage it shows 12gb both on the phone and plug into the pc. If it does need reformatted which way should I go with that? Odin, CWM, etc..?

I think it's a sim card error.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Is this the symbol (sim card)
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
I attached the pictures is not the sim card icon. No sim card is in it either.
If there's no SIM card installed, then it makes sense for that error icon to show up if it's the "No SIM" error icon.
anyone else want to take a guess? I put a sim card in the board and it active, the icon is still there...
