One step closer to CM7

I was very excited to see Slayher's tweet thin morning that they now have 3g/4g working on Tbolt CM7 can't wait to get it up and running.

agreed... have some common sense! if the tweets were made last evening at around 11EST then there are obviously already forum posts (it is regarding CM for God's sake).
Search and post in relevant threads. This thread should be closed, as it is pointless. No need to riddle the forums with duplicate posts just because you (and everyone else) were excited and did not post in the correct thread.

Well this is the Thunderbolt general discussion forum so imo if its not here its in the wrong forum.
This forum is ment for sharing knowledge and info not bashing other users... If you don't like my post don't reply to it.. it will get pushed to the bottom and be forgotten..
I know i'd be happy to see this post and since I hadn't I posted it.. not everyone has the time so scan every forum

There really is no point to lash out. One person had already corrected him.

While I can understand your enthusiasm, I am excited as well, this post is 10 threads down from yours and there is another just above yours. Both discussing CM7 for the TB.

[Rant] Where is the moderator??

So this forum has been all but derailed by rude and impulsive posters who flame thread after thread if they dont get their way. Never mine they contribute almost nothing to the dev scene. I saw the other day yet another talented dev is on the way out because of these few brats. Any way to contact the mod or add additonal moderators to weed out the trolls so the other members dont lose out?

Well said. Seems like we have people new to Android/ smartphones, who feel entitled to answers that they can find themselves if the just read! And if they don't get answered within minutes, they call a ROM junk or jump the Dev. They should just go back to Iphone and remain a zombie!

Totally agree with above, seems like a lot of tempers flared and people jumped ship. This phone still rocks and I hope support continues for it.

@OP: Looks like you are kinda late with this observation. We already lost quite a few devs. Moderators on this forum are pretty much more strict when compared to captivate forums, and this still keeps happening.

Agreed. This is still a great phone, and I hope that more folks will stick around to figure stuff out vs. waiting for a few devs to do everything for them. We have a few devs still looking out for us, and we should appreciate them rather than gripe at them. I plan to stick around for awhile, and will just ignore and stay out of any drama. Once we get source from AT&T Gingerbread, development should pick up some.

I wish I could support more than I am now. Code doesn't scare me but I am at NO level to help with development (the devs almost seem like magicians at times) but in terms of theme-ing or anything visual that would need to be created I would be happy to help (buttons, icons, backgrounds, etc) because that is in my field.

It seems when we get new devs, ppl flood the threads with a "gimme" attitude and when they don't get their way they ***** and moan. I've been following here since the phone came out and it's amazing how hard ppl bite the hand that feeds them...
There are more noobs here than we know what to do with and they are constantly snapping at the devs, constantly posting repeat questions and asking stupid ass questions in ROM threads. (usually answered in the OP) No wonder all of our useful members are upgrading and leaving. I'm hoping the moderators can step in if this gets any worse.

Report bad posts. They can't fix what they can't see, and it's not feasible to be babysitting 100 threads. broncogr will clean up the baddies, but the community needs to police itself. Don't respond to bad posts, just report them and move on.

I had my own post closed down and i had to find a moderator to do it. It didn't take him long to close it once he got my pm.

Easier way would be to report the post you want to take down. That would get quicker attention than an IM.

Mention about searching to them, and here are the common retorts we get back:
1. Too many pages on ROMs to browse through
2. Its easier to ask and get answer than browse through
3. Why don't you just answer me than increase post count by telling me to search
What they fail to realize is that Q&A thread of a ROM is created specifically to address the ROM's issues, and searching there is the first thing to be done.
Maybe we should get a warning tab that shows warning levels given to any user. After certain number of warning, its the ban hammer on them for a short while that would restrict them from posting anything.

Instead of ranting and taking matters into your own hands why dont you just report the offending posts and they will be taken care of.
Unless you believe that mods are going to read any and all threads and any and all posts on a daily basis.
I try to keep the forum clean, move posts to the correct subforum and answer quickly to any reported posts and pm's.
But if you dont report it I will not be able to see it....

Man this forum is already starting to look worse than the G3 threads, where it's full of the same stuff, over and over, everyone needs to keep their mouths shut and quit asking about the fix to this phone and let the Dev's do their damn job. Keep in mind that they DON'T have to do a damn thing for no one. It isn't like you bought the phone and it came with a leaflet stating, "oh, btw, to do any mods on your phone, you will get service here" sheeez...all anyone is doing is pissing off the people we need to help.

Thanks, I am just getting frustrated, that you start reading some threads, and most of them are getting hijacked with the same ole stuff, put it in one area, and delete it from the rest.
As far as banning me, so be it, by the time I return the forum might just be cleaned. I am NOT the only person that has already thought of this. If it would make everyone happy, I reported myself for this thread to be deleted.

Thread closed...If anyone wants opinions, go log on to social media for them. This here is a development site, contribute to that or log off - do not clutter threads with this stuff.
To clarify a couple other points, the general section of any thread is NOT for opinions like this, so it is not okay. Nor is creating this type of flotsam and jetsum and then self-reporting it while being self righteous in the process. When you accepted membership here, you agreed to post by the rules, and this thread is a great example of what not to do.
Oh yeah, always help a new user, and if you are confronted with disrespectful users, report the posts, and do not feed trolls or trollers.... Moderators are standing by to assist.

Free hechoen

As some of you may or may not know Hechoen has received a ban from the forums. The ban is his first and is for ten days. The reason for the action was "Disrespectful attitude towards moderator." Some background follows. He was PM'd by a mod to remove his avatar within 48 hours. The mod seemed to think that it could be offensive to some members. His avatar has been around for a long time and was a cartoon of a guy giving the middle finger with the words "Censor this!". As we all know an avatar is an extension of your online personality. To get an idea of whether or not the community found it offensive he posted a question about it in the off-topic thread(that he created). He never named the mod or said anything "disrespectful" towards the mod. Within minutes the post was deleted and he was banned. So I ask any of you that think this action unfair to please respond here. Also feel free to PM a mod(or five) with a link to this thread. If others believe this to be unfair and we unite as a community maybe, just maybe, we'll make a difference.

i might be somewhat a noob but hechoen has been on the sgs4g forums way before i joined and new what roms were he plays an importnd role in xda

Don't worry, the mods have heard our petition and hechoen will be unbanned in approximately 9 more days It's a problem with the forum software, we just can't make it unblock anyone faster than that.

maybe if i added a little neon effect or something, then it might just be a little appropriate? :banghead:

Not that I agree with the ban, but, wasn't he asking to be censored?

I don't know the guy personally but this isn't the first time a mod has abused their powers. Most don't, but then again what can you really do? Hope he's unbanned shortly. And to all the mods not on a power trip, please keep up the fine work we appreciate you.

This thread itself has been reported, and thus cleaned and closed.
XDA is a development forum, off topic discussion is allowed to some extent to afford users to create relationships that strengthen bonds and friendships that will, hopefully, lead towards a stronger development community and thus, possibly better product for the masses.

That being said - this website, and the threads within, are really for development and the developers. Moderators are merely here to make sure that the aforementioned development, along with the published rules, are being abided by.
Regardless of whether moderators do the popular thing or not, we do what we do with sincere interest for the community as a whole. Users who want to challenge the rules and/or criticize what moderators do and try to incite others in this plight are ones who bring little value to this community. Additionally, and you most should be aware, there are plenty of social media websites available to sign petitions and to express your feelings, XDA is not one of them.
And, to refer to the about linked post by zelendel, no one made you come here. You agreed to be respectful in your posts, to be critical of moderators, who are also members, is also not allowed.
For those of you in here who have posted, good to meet you. I expect you all will try to exercise respect, humanity and dignity from here on out - wherever and whenever you post.

XDA closes tread of the first Sense 4+ Sensation. You are paid by HTC?

That is way some good devs left to other android forums. Like in any business growing big (from old times with 10 device forums, to the present, with "n"), the rules multiply, more & more restrictions, the anchor in real life is smaller with every day, and the thing that devs are humans with daily problems & mind lapsus for some links and minor stuff won't matter for some. Seb left? I don't get what you guys are arguing over, and I don't actually know what happened. But I do feel what OP about treating developers, because at end of the day, we, users of this site are being affected. I am not saying don't have rules, I am saying judge on the situation. Someone trolling is not the same as a good dev making a mistake. Even a big mistake, he/she should be given a chance due to the commitment they have put into this site and joy brought to fans in the past. Rules are important, but when people forget what rules are intended for then why do we even have them in the first place? If more and more dev leaves this site, the rules will be useless because no one will be using it. Like I said, I am not defending Seb because I don't even know what he did, instead just making a point. We have yet another good dev left sensation...
