[Q] Bricked my tablet.... - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Currently... my Eee pad is just stuck on boot loop...
all i have tried currently was Power + UP/Down but it just loops without giving me
the choice of actions(like wipe out etc)
Any other ways to get access to it?
It is B30 model, was Rooted previously, but came back to complete Stock ICS.
I was using it yesterday and until this morning when it just random rebooted, and went into deadly loop.
any help other than sending it back to Asus.............? i might as well as send it back if i cant solve it
soon enough....T_T

APX mode is how you press UP + power (screen off but connecting to pc) right?
I did it, but nothing shows up on my device manager..... not even a !APX etc...

[Q] Will my B80 ever work again? EDIT: It will not until ICS

Hi,
One day I was having fun with my brand new TF101 trying to root it and flash a rom...
I did a MASSIVE FAIL and now I get the asus logo when I turn it on and it only turns off when it has low battery . I can however acces the XPA mode (but useless, NVFLash doesn't work on B70+) and I can get into wipe mode and cold-booting. I tried both but the transformer just freezes . I wonder if one of you guys can tell me if I just have a 399€ paper weight mad or if it can be a tablet again D)?
Thanks,
HorClok
What were the exact steps you did to root and flash ?
Did you install CWM Recovery ?
Power off the TF by holding Power for a while until it turns off, then
Try holding Volume Down + Power until white text appears onscreen, then either choose Recovery or Wipe Data

All i get is wipe Data or cold booting Android... :/ I don't have a recovery mode on this tablet (it's a WW)
after the words appear, you have to push vol up within 5 sec to get into recovry.
If you wait after 5 sec. you'll only get the clear data or boot options.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
I think he has nearly the same problem like me.
i also cant get into recovery. but now its enough for me.
I will RMA it tomorrow. i also highly doubt that new SBK-Codes will ever be leaked/cracked.
There was nothing for month now.
Good Luck for you, but i guess only Asus can Flash it back with there "secret-Flash tool" or whatever, which we unfortunately don't have!

Maybe you can try to use the rom from the asus support site, put it on the external card and look if it will take the "update" ?
You have to unzip the downloaded zip file once. So you get a ASUS dir on the card. I think not unzipping further down.
Or try to play around with the unzipped file like is done here (even in that thread it is an OTA update and not a complete rom).
Just some idea's, didn't try it myself.
If it has access to fastboot...can't he just use the fastboot command to flash the system and boot images?
Where can i find this fastboot, and how get it to work?
Not all hope is lost - I did the exact same thing to my B70 trying to install CWM on it (then found out what a B70 was...). I managed to recover it using ASUS built-in recovery kernel.
The catch is that it seems the recovery kernel will only install a newer firmware - not the current or an older one. If you were still on the older (pre-Christmas firmware) maybe you can use that one right away, otherwise ICS is right on the horizon. If you don't know which you were on, it doesn't hurt to try anyway.
Here's what I did:
1. Stash the transformer under my bed for a month so I couldn't see it laughing at me while waiting for an update.
2. Once there is a newer firmware than the one you currently have, download it from ASUS (sorry I can't post the URL because I'm too new, it's pretty easy to find though)
2. Unzip the downloaded package
3. Find the zip file under ASUS/Update, copy it to an external Micro SD Card and rename it to TF101_SDUPATE.ZIP
4. Insert the sd card into the transformer, then resart it while holding the volume down button (if, like mine, the transformer won't stay off, that's fine - hold down the power key until it turns off, then hold the volume down as it starts back up)
5. When you see the white text in the top left corner, press volume up to enter the RCK.
6. Cross your fingers
If it works in a minute or two you should see a progress bar start up. If it doesn't you will see an android with an exclamation mark in a yellow triangle on it's chest.
If it doesn't work, don't despair - it might be the firmware you are using is too close to the existing one on the tablet. Wait for the next release and try again. It took me a month of waiting, but I finally got mine back.
hmm but you where always been able to access the Recovery, so that you can the Androidman with yellow triangle or?
On my Pad, if i press vol-up it shortly shows "booting recovery Kernel", and than screen gets black and instantly reboots.
You had the same behaviour?

Unfortunately it seems yours might be even more hosed than mine was then - I could always access the android with the yellow triangle. The recovery/wipe/cold boot screens were always available, it would just hang at the ASUS screen on boot, always restart when turned off

Good luck - I had pretty much given up hope after bricking mine, but did get it back. Hope your recovery efforts go as smoothly!

Now I'm wishing I had taken better notes when I did it.
I'm 90% sure I ended up using TF101_SDUPDATE.zip, because I was surprised too - I had previously seen EP101...
It certainly doesn't hurt to try both. It's also possible that the current firmware recognizes a couple of names.
[EDIT]
Looking at my terminal history, it looks like TF101... was an earlier failed attempt, and I did use EP101_SDUPATE.zip
If you haven't try it with the name EP101_SDUPATE.zip and see if it works any better!

[Q] Skyrocket phone stuck onSamsung Logo

Hi all,
My Samsung Galaxy phone is stuck on the Samsung boot up logo. I shut off the phone and it starts up again to the Samsung logo again. I am rooted but still had the stock rom and kernel.
I went to selections and wiped my cache and tried to format it like a new phone. The same thing still happens. I am not sure what else to do. Anyone know how to fix this?
Keep the instructions simple please, if you do know. (I'm a desperate noob)
Thanks for any help.
IF you ever did nandroid than just restore that otherwise.........
Hey first follow this steps to flash any rom. If you flash the rom properly than you can use any stock rom from dev section and use that.
OR
follow this step to go back to stock and it will unroot you.

Same Problem
My problem is that my Rogers SGSII LTE I727R, is stuck on the logo screen, which is flashing the boot screen. When I connect the USB (even after install of Kies and Odin), my PC does not see the device. I am really not sure what to do. I think I set the wrong phone ID when I installed recovery (I think I was supposed to use the T-Mobil SGSII setting), but I selected something else. I then tried to backup the existing ROM, and am now in this unending loop. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
Follow these steps it will help you go back to stock. ANd reroot your phone.

Try another USB port or another computer. If you can get the logo you are in a boot loop, the most common form of a soft brick. If you can get into download mode you should be able to fix it.

Another thought is to try turning off firewall and antivirus when using Odin. I've never had my firewall or antivirus block Odin but I've heard it can happen...
Can you get into download mode? Hold the two volume buttons down, then plug the usb cable into your phone, then you should be in download mode.
I cannot get into download mode. I just keep getting the flashing boot screen, with the corresponding vibration.

Don't panic. If you're in a boot loop it's fixable. It's when you get nothing that you need to worry about a hard brick.
Try the button combo mentioned above to get into download mode. If that doesn't work, pull the battery again and try using just the volume down button button--I've heard people say this worked for them when they had a hard time.
If this doesn't get you into download mode, I guarantee you that a jig will work. You can buy one online or make one yourself for about 75 cents and a cut-up data cable (I had a car charger that I didn't need--car charges the phone through USB port, so I cut that one up). Always good to have a jig, at any rate...

[Q] G2X Will Not Power On...

I've tried to search but cannot find a solution. I had Hellfire ICS running on my G2X and today while trying to access the weather it froze. I pulled the battery and now it will not power back on. I can connect it to the computer and I can hear it connect but I cannot reload nvflash. It gets stuck trying to initialize bootloader. I've pulled the battery and tried everything that has been mentioned but no luck. Any help is appreciated.
G2X Will Not Power On.. answer
Just had the same problem your phone is probably toast .Find the file G2X_V21E_00_NVFlash ,download, unzip, unplug battery, plug in usb click on flash.bat . Make sure you have Nvidia usb drivers installed and make sure you use a fresh rebooted pc. Also persistance maybe necessary It may take 1 attempt or a dozen. Once it flashs the stock system and boots up if it freezes again send it back .
This procedure returns the phone to unrooted factory stock Good luck
I've called T-Mobile and they are sending me another G2X.... Still trying to get this one working. I don't like being beat.

It does connect as APX while connecting it to usb but will not turn on. I will say that after repeatedly trying to install the stock flash as jdakk1982 had suggested it finally went to the boot screen but froze half way through. Now when I connect it to usb whether i'm holding the volume buttons or not it will connect as APX but I cannot get it to power on in apx mode again.

Assuming this was done with battery out. Can you try with everything removed (battery, sim, sd card) and see if it works? If it does not I am afraid you may have a brick .

Thanks for the link ratza (I bookmarked it) but I did get it up and running. It would not power on for almost 24 hrs and I could not connect it to PC. With battery out and plugged in PC did not see it.
It took a different battery to get it to boot. Even after that I could not get into Clockwork recovery either from the app or by holding down power / down buttons. I tried about a 2 dozen times. It took an older SD card that had a nandroid backup that finally worked.

This same thing just happened to me no more than two hours ago. After searching through the net I found that there was really nothing I can do because I do not own a computer. Plugged USB cord into USB wall mount charger plugged it into the phone without battery held down the power and vol- button all of a suddon LG screen flashes turns off. I quickly put battery in left it plugged in pushed same two buttons and it came to life. Hopefully thus helps anyone who's searching with no luck

[Q] BSOD, But I get lights when I plug it in

I just tried installing the Energy Rom from forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010108 and after I installed the Energy_JB_4.2.1_Partitions.zip file and rebooted I received the asus logo screen and then my tablet just went off. I tried rebooting into TWRP to continue installing the rom and just got a black screen. THAT'S ALL I GET NOW IS BSOD. I've tried holding down the the volume+power, just power, sticking a pin in the reset hole. NOTHING!!! However my light by the power button still lights up orange or green when charging.
IS THERE ANYWAY I CAN GET OUT OF THIS MESS??? I don't care if I have to wipe everything from the tablet. Just as long as I can get this thing to boot again in anyway would make me happy! :crying:
I would ask NRG as he was the one who created this zip. He will know more about it and its bugs/issues. Post in the energy thread if you haven't already.

The more I think about it.... I think no. I was on Energy 12/22 which was 4.1.1 and then started the install of files. I installed the first one which was a 14MB partition file, it rebooted, I got the logo and then it shut off. The light still comes on though when I plug in the charger and changes from orange to green. But if I hold the power, power+volume, reset hole or anything else... Nothing happens.
Your tablet is unrecoverable bricked! You make misteak, because you should first install offical Asus JB 4.2.1 OTA via Fastboot.

Not sure if this will help
If when you flashed this zip, and the 4.2.1 bootloader did manage to take I would try this.
Connect your device to your pc with the usb cable and power on like you would when normally trying to boot into bootloader (vol- & power)
Even though the screen is black if the bootloader did take then fastboot will be automatically running here.
Open command prompt (run as admin) and cd to your android-sdk\platform-tools folder and try command
Code:
fastboot devices
and see if you get a response.
If you do get a list with your s/n, then I would give my how-to a go & see if that works.
I'll try that tonight or tomorrow. I was going to try to find an identical one today at Best Buy and then return the screwed up one a few days later. But if I can save my original I'll just keep it and not go through all the hassle.

[Q] Stuck on ASUS logo

I hope that someone can give me some advise to get my tf300t up and running again. I wanted to install cm10.2 but I wanted to install CWM first.
I unlocked my device first with the unlock app v8 from asus.
I tried to install CWM the first time but it did not work.
I went back into recovery mode but I wasn't paying attention and pressed wipe userdata
Now my tf300t only shows the ASUS logo and the text that the device is unlocked. I can't get back in recovery mode anymore. Is there a way the restore it back to default?
I hope that someone can help me out.
Thank you in advance for your time and effort.

Can you get to the menu with the recovery options, boot android, USB, and wipe data? You can use fastboot from there.

If you cant get into there, you cant really use fastboot. Unless you made NvFlash Backups beforehand, I don't think there is much else you can do, since the recovery isn't working either.

I stupidly made no backups so what you are saying is that it is done.

I've spent a lot of time searching and it seems like that's it...
I'm on Asus screen, I can reboot it by either holding down pwr button until it reboots, or using reset switch with a paperclip. vol - does nothing, just reboots to asus screen...computer sees nothing. vol + goes into APX mode (blank screen)...computer detects with correct drivers. I've tried draining battery completely...disconnecting battery for a few days...same result.
If I had to speculate...maybe at some point someone will figure out how to use another's backup files and push them to the device in APX mode.
I've looked into replacing the motherboard...and have seen some for as low as 50$ on ebay. Personally, swapping them would be easy...but some may not have the caviler attitude with hardware swapping. Just gotta get the wife to agree to spend the $.
I'd die for a free fix, the kids really miss playing with the thing
