Hey guys,
I ripped Polaris Office from my SGS2 and was testing it on the SGT running an ICS build. It runs exceptionally well. You can see the attached screenshots how it could look.
It also opens all files (including XLSX and DOCX) just fine. It's incredibly snappy (more so than on the SGS2).
Sadly, even though I have a CWM zip that I created for myself, I can't post it here due to forum rules. Other threads already marked this as warez, so I can't do that. However, if any of you guys bought the software legally along with another device as I have, just know you can run it fine on the SGT as well.
Hope this helps and make some noise! Infraware should definitely release this to the market. It would sell like hot-cakes!!!

So, you just backed up the apk to install or you pushed it into system using a cwm zip?
If you extract just the APK it will force close on you all the time. There are two libs that need to be extracted as well. They can be found (and placed) in:

/system/lib/libpolarisoffice.so
/system/lib/libpolarisoffice_Clipboard.so
That's why I created a CWM zip in the first place. Otherwise I would have just saved the APK :-D

can you share the cwm w/o the files? I just don't know how to make cwm to push the files in the correct directory but I can copy them over into the cwm zip.
Ok, I have attached the CWM Zip skeleton (without said files or APK) to this post.
It does include the folder structure though.

Hmm... Seems like I'm missing
/system/lib/libpolarisoffice_Clipboard.so
I presume that's because I haven't copied anything in polaris?
I have no idea. I've always had it and copied it along as the name seems to suggest it's important ;-)
In any event, on my system, the clipboard is about 12kb, while the main, libpolarisoffice.so file is about 12.5 MB. Try without the clipboard, see if it works fine.
UPDATE: I completely removed the clipboard lib file from the filesystem and the app still runs fine. Copy/paste in the document does not seem to generate it automatically either. You can just go ahead and not worry about the clipboard. Runs just as well without it.

Hmm. when I try to create a new document, it says that "This is a model which the library does not support"
Maybe it's related to the clipboard file, I can't tell. For me it works fine at the moment, even without the clipboard SO.
As a comparison, maybe there are multiple versions (cause we extracted from different devices), I am running this version:

There are only two known workarounds for this issue:
1. You get the lib files from a different source.
2. You trick the lib into thinking you have a different phone model.
You might want to try editing your build.prop file to reflect a different phone model (compatible one) for example.
I never had this issue. Maybe because I'm doing it across related Samsung devices? Or maybe I am running a different version?

I have the same issue in a Motorola Xoom Wifi
Folks, maybe you try to extract the PolarisOffice.apk from one of the GT-I9100 firmwares around (here, i.e. the latest XWLP7).
The full installation PolarisOffice.apk is contained in cache.img which you can convert to cache.ext4.img using sgs2toext4.jar application (here) from drphrozen.
Then mount cache.ext4.img with Diskinternals Linux Reader (here) and extract PolarisOffice.apk from /data/apk. Enjoy !
BTW I crosschecked the GT-I9100 factoryfs.img, there is no libpolarisoffice_Clipboard.so or libpolarisoffice.so in the /lib dir.
Right now I'm using a Transformer version to check a report from a user that it works on the tab.
I confirm that it does and that there is no watermark on the screen while using it. It is also ICS and tablet optimized. It is the best version I have come across as of yet.

Same issue on my Galaxy Nexus - works like a charm except for the useless watermark. I'm going to see if cheatman's idea of using the transformer version library will get rid of the issue.

It's real. To be specific about the change:
1) Disassemble the apk (apktool will do it)
2) edit <dir>/smali/com/skype/raider/service/y.smali
3) Line 2097 needs to read:
const/4 v0, 0x0
instead of
const/4 v0, 0x1
4) re-assemble, sign, install
Basically, it's a one byte change, as these things usually are.

Try uninstalling your existing copy. Also, you might have to download from PC. I've had trouble downloading from phone w/ megaupload.
I hope I'm not zombied. I have a new G2, with no root. I uninstalled skype, then installed the OP's apk using "adb install <.apk>". There is no skype icon. It is installed. An reinstall (adb install -r) did not make an icon appear. A reboot didn't help. Unfortunately, adb uninstall fails. The contents of the .apk look legit, but someone really crafty could have all my google login for all I know. Should I factory-reset or what?

Strange that everyone's having problems. I'm running cm6 on n1. I installed using astro on the phone. Does the checksum match? Maybe apktool rebuilt it differently or something. Code-wise it's just that 1 byte change. Oh well. Hopefully it works for someone.

It should work on whatever the official Skype app supports. Which apparently does not include the galaxy s phones fwiw. Not sure about 1.6. You can try the one from the market first if you like.

Jbed.apk is not valid, it says "Parse Error", I get the same error in froyo
I had problems flashing it but fixed it by installing it manually.

What do you know? It works. However there are some real major glitches. If you remember, almost all JAR games etc depended on left/ right soft keys. And in my SGS there is no such thing.
I tried all buttons and keys on this phone, but to no avail. Also the resolution of the games leave a lot to be desired (though for this you cannot do anything from your end).
Any suggestions on the key bug that I have highlighted above will be really appreciated. But once again thanks for making this - LONG TIME PENDING!

I tried this JBED package and other different JBED versions (from 2.1 to 2.3.1).
The previous versions to 2.3.1 show an FC right after trying to open. ROM details are at the signature.
JBED version 2.3.1, the one contained in this package as well on the LeeDrOiD v3.3.1 ROM for Desire HD / Inspire 4G and the add-on at Android Revolution HD thread for Desire HD / Inspire 4G, doesn't show FC but all of them display a "Maybe no sd card or sd card is busy, please check it" message. So it isn't possible to install any jar.
Any ideas how to make JBED (or other Java VM) work with this Virtuous Unity 1.31 ROM?
I do apologize for the stupid question, but: how do I install this?

I installed the zip through the stock recovery of gingerbread on my galaxy fit. It installed fine on my galaxy fit and I now have a java app in my app drawer. But when I run the app it searches the jar files on my sdcard (don't know why it also shows my framework.jar etc. system files). When I install and run the java app the screen becomes pixelated. I mean the app doesn't run correctly.. the screen is distorted.. I can't read or view anything. Please help me fix this !!

I created this thread, because I had realized a while ago that our device isn't supported in dsixda's Android kitchen. (For more information about it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246)
Adding support is not difficult though.
1: Copy GT-I9103 file from the attached zip into 'kitchen_dir/tools/edify_defs'. This fixes issues with the generated updater-script.
2: Rename emmc-update-binary file in 'kitchen_dir/tools/update_files' to something else. (e.g.: emmc-update-binary_orig)
3: Copy emmc-update-binary file from the attached zip into 'kitchen_dir/tools/update_files'. This step is essential, because the emmc-update-binary provided by the kitchen is compiled for using the NEON instruction set, which our phone unfortunately doesn't have.
The update-binary I include is the almost latest version from CM10 sources. It understands the latest updater-scripts.
Every custom modification to devices have risks. Use the kitchen at your own risk!

Yes, the format is the same as those of Galaxy S2 (and maybe other Galaxy phones as well). Your kitchen recognizes the format without any hassle. There is an option somewhere (I don't remember correctly, maybe under advanced) that enables users to unpack some other csc files. Although I never use that, tried once and worked well.

Here is a way to run Commander Mode with out a android phone/tablet.
PC software to run android apps
Then install like you would on an android tablet. Just download and enjoy.
There appears to be an issue with having enough ram with in the program preventing it loading Commander Mode. WIll launch Battlelog just fine.

I would like to verify that this does work. I was able to play commander on my HTC EVO LTE (sprint). the app is still buggy in the sense that it connects me to a game that already has two commanders or a game with no people in it but after many attempts I was able to get into a game where there were people in it and only one commander (me being the second)
Additionally I would like to clarify something on Stanley's instructions. The unzipped bf4 data folder called "Battlefield Commander 1.0.1 data" contains a folder that is called obb and in that folder there is another folder called "com.ea.game.warsawcommander_row". It is this folder "com.ea.game.warsawcommander_row" that needs to be copied into the directory internal storage>android>obb. I had initially tried to copy the folder "Battlefield Commander 1.0.1 data" into the directory internal storage>android>obb which did not work and I got some data error message. Once I copied the "com.ea.game.warsawcommander_row" folder to internal storage>android>obb the app launched and I was able to play.

ok so that app is not as buggy as I thought. If it says commanders 2/2 you are the second commander if you join. if it says 1/2 that means if you will be the only commander (until another joins)
That doesn't sound that bad. I keep hearing alot worse
I can't even get it to launch on the Note 2. It goes to black screen and force closes. Before the update it would get stuck downloading the data even when the data was installed.

I hate to ruin it for you, but it probably won't work. I have tried many times to get it to work on my note 2.
I have been watching reviews and the entire note lineup (note 8, 10.1) is having the same problem. I figure when they fix it for them it will work for us also.

My note 8 is omnirom and titanium backup restore this files.
Unzip files and all of them put titanium backup file, restore with titanium backup.
That's the best office for Android. It's better than Kingsoft. I think it's port of some desktop office (may be Libre or Open).
can I restore it if I have Civz rom with spherextreme kernel? Is there any chance to someone make working apk from that?

Downloaded the contents from the link above, installed all the apks, rebooted to get the file associations working, presto! Best thing since sliced bread. Works perfectly. Beats all the other office clones out there.

Just installed on my Mega and also confirm it works great and way better than anything out there.

Is it possible to get a fully working Hancom Office on a rooted 4.1.2? I would not like to give up this android version because of the well known smart dock problem of the newer versions. Simple downloading and installation of the previously provided apk-s resulted a non-working Hword and Hword viewer (force close with an error message) ....although Hcell (excel tables editing), Hshow (powerpoint editing) works well.
I also tried the build.prop trick and downloaded the original apk-s and installed. The result was the same.
Well, those who states that the program works on 4.2.2 android version...could you try the editing functions of the Hword and everything is OK? Because in the thread of Note 10.1 2014 they states that the program (Hancon) requires a 4.4. android for the full work....

Just out of curiousity: is it possible to review and insert notes and annotations in documents in Hancom office? I am considering getting note pro for use at work, and i tent to use the annotation function in Word quite a lot.

I'm on cm and my hshow have fc when i create a file in it. Others work perfectly
Someone in note 10.1 forum pointed out that the framework.jar of note 8 4.1 is missing *one* function which hword relied on, and provided some modified framework and reported good results.
Maybe that function could be incorparated in an Xposed module and bypass all the haunting task of modified numerous frameworks? As I sadly don’t have the skill to do so I can only wait for it.
