phone stuck at logo - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

my phone only boots and shows the galaxy s homepage and does nothing else, i tried flashing my phone using HEIMDALL ONE-CLICK and now when i try to use odin and the stock image my phone wont flash to it. anyone know how to fix it??

Flash it with Heimdall one-click again, but this time ensure you have "Flash bootloaders" checked.

i did nothing happend but ill try again

Why did you start a new thread for this?

because the link i used from ur thing messed my phone up..... and now im trying to fix it.....

If my guide messed your phone up you need to not continue flashing your phone.

try the link to my guide in my sig

after i boot my phone up, the galaxy s screen comes up then a fuzzy pixilated screen comes on, anyone know how to fix it??

That sounds like the rainbow screen. If it's a bunch of multicolored pixels, then you need to flash a ROM with the proper bootloaders.

it is the rainbow screen and i have 2.3.6 stock, can u tell me what i need to flash it with to get root and custom recovery??

Use the 3rd one-click. Follow the directions on the page, though, because you'll have to flash twice. The 2nd time you need to make sure "Flash Bootloaders" is checked.
After that, I'd suggest flashing [KERNEL]Subtly Modified Stock with CWM5 + Voodoo Lagfix [02/24]. That will get you on the latest beta kernel with the latest CWM, it's rooted, & has voodoo lagfix.

i have tried the 3rd link, but it always gets stuck on the rainbow screen, but ill try again

We keep saying to flash bootloaders. So you need to flash it twice. The second time you flash check the flash bootloader box.

the first time i flash it with it gets stuck on rainbow screen, it wont load the android so that i can flash with bootloaders the second time

You need to put it in download mode, so it shouldn't need to boot up all of the way.

you just have to put it into download mode again

Are you talking about cwm(orange or red) or 3e recovery(blue & yellow). If your trying to get to recovery with cwm you need to Odin the modded kg4 kernel(yes it works with kh1). Until you do that then you will only get 3e recovery.
To get to recovery hold volume up and down and power till the first splash screen appears then release. Hope this helps you
***Edit***: you need to flash drhonks kernel. Sounds like somthing didnt take.

cwm - orange
and that's the thing, when i hold volume up & down with power key, it goes to the splash screen then it goes no where. if i let it go it stays in the first splash screen, if i keep holding it, it loops. the only way to get the phone started is to touch the home key after that first splash screen
odin.. uhoh
Yea I would suggest odining the kg4 leak. It sound like you bootloaders are messed up. Odin will pick it up right?

I used sgs kernel flasher and flashed kernel and it restored my voodoo red cwm. I lost recovery as well after flashing this. That's what happens when u don't read lol.

I odined, a kd1 rom... I'm back to stock froyo, kinda....
Also, how do you flash .rar files using odin? Can you? I haven't found any .tar kg4 roms
Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk
extract the far, in there you will find some tars. The first one which is 290+ mbs, is the one that you put in the "PDA" section. The one that has "CSC" somewhere within the title is put in the CSC section, the one with "Phone" is put in it's corresponding section. the .pit file is put in the top left pit section. Make sure you have the samsung drivers. If you don't, you are A, either nothing is going to happen, or B, you will end up with a 600 dollar brick.
So flash up, Then flash the GB voodoo kernel.tar in the PDA section.
Then go to cwm, flash what you want to flash make sure it has the GB voodoo kernel in it as well, then go to the voodoo section of recovery, disable everything, then reboot. You will have recovery on GB

Boot loop fix 2.3.4 ssgs 4g

Ok i finally figured out i recently boot looped my phone was trippin out because i couldnt get my phone to boot up it was stuck in boot loop and it kept saying invalid arguement.i didnt want to send my phone through warranty in fear that they would deny it out of desperation i tried again to down load the firmware and this is what i did after days of disspair. What you need to do is this…….1) put your phone in download mode this works with phones that are not hard bricked only those in boot loop ……2) erase all files you previously downloaded, even delete them from your recycle bin so there are no confusions with any files downloaded from your pc……3) download from androidadvices.com the 2.3.3 firmware upgrade and all of its files . Send files to your desktop then enter androidadvices.com when you open the file so that you may extract files, then upload all files as they show you on the 2.3.3 firmware instructions…..4)..... ( pay close attn to this step).....!!!after you load the firmware odin should fail in resetting your phone but what this does is enter the file necessary to reboot your phone accordingly, this gets rid of your boot loop !!!…..5) now enter a desired firmware from android advices.com i used the stable 2.3.4 firmware download to put into my phone installed it and got my phone to reset appropriately and now i have my phone back this should also work for you all boot loop stuck galaxy s 4 g phones by t mobile . i hope this works for all of you with the problem.i was scared worried and concerned but hey curiosity killed the cat, and can also put a cheshire smile on its face good luck
there is no need for Odin any longer once you have drhonks GB kernel because recovery is built in so bootlooped or soft bricked you can just go into cwm and reflash from there

I've been wondering about that because I have never seen an "update.zip" on my sdcard. What is the update.zip that it expects?
I actually hit that option by mistake trying to flash a rom, but of course it said file not found.
YOU DO NOT FLASH UPDATE.ZIP.

Reboot into recovery and install a different rom.
I had this exact same thing on my daughter's Sidekick, where a custom kernel didn't want to boot the phone up.
I tried restoring the backup I had made; nothing. I factory reseted it; nothing.
Loaded up another rom (last ditch effort), and BAM, it went through.
So try rebooting into recovery and load another rom.

[Q] download mode not working...

I tried searching, but the search is down?
I have spent several hours looking.
I used odin (phone went into download mode without issue) to put my phone back to stock so I could get the ota update.
Went back into download mode with Odin to install CWM, this "passed" and after a restart my phone went into samsung recovery, not CWM.
Now my phone will not go into download mode? I tried different cable, ports, etc.
any help?
so what is it doing since it's not going into download mode.
it wouldn't do anything, I finally reinstalled the drivers and after holding down the power and volume - let go... nothing! push the volume - twice and it went into download mode. Odin recognizes it and goes through the motion, but the phone has a AX_timeout in red at the top left corner of the screen?
Odin continues and say's passed, but when I try to reboot into CWM it hangs on the samsung logo.
It will not boot into recovery, but it will start the phone and everything seems to work.
im using odin 1.83 / windows 7 64bit.
Remove the battery, put the phone in download mode, put the battery back in, and flash CWM. Before you fully boot the OS, flash a custom kernel. If you don't flash a custom kernel, the default kernel will overwrite CWM with the default recovery.

I would try using odin v1.82... My experience with this tool has told me that our charge doesnt always "play nice" with other versions... Also try redownloading the latest CWM, you could of had a bad download.

If you happen to flash a ROM that doesn't include the script that the kernel calls for the overwrite, then you could have ended up with CWM on a stock kernel.

There's a script, can't remember where it's at, that is run at boot to replace the recovery. If that script is not there, it doesn't get replaced. All custom roms have it removed.

There is. You can download the Superuser CWM to your phone, flash CWM, boot immediately to CWM (don't let it boot normally), flash Superuser, and reboot.
At that point, if you desire, you can delete /system/etc/install-recovery.sh and reflash CWM if you want to keep it.

[Q] VZW GS3 ODIN and Recovery issues

Hello All - I am a long time viewer of the forum, Recently I noticed an update available for the GS# to 4.2.2. I downloaded the Rom and began my normal process of using ROM Manager to boot into recovery mode to install the latest file. When the update finished applying I was presented with a brief view of the Samsung boot screen and then remained stuck on the Google Boot Screen.
I downloaded a stock firmware to apply with Odin 3.07 but it fails halfway through the write process.
Can someone please give me a hand or point me in a direction if you experienced the same problem.
Also when I try to load into recovery mode the phone screen remains black.
Thanks for any help!
Nick
What rom did you try to upgrade? Link please? And just to verify, do you have a Verizon GSIII?

I tried to download the 4.2.2 file from the following location, rootzwiki - "aokp-d2vzw-jb-mr1-build-4", went through rom manager and now is timing out on the google screen.
I do still have the phone with me currently. Thanks for any help you can provide.
I never use Rom Manager so that's not surprising to me. When you pull the battery then hold power, home, and Up until it vibrates does it boot to recovery? I would suggest flashing through CWM.

Thanks SlimSnoop I have tried roughly 15 times and am still not having any luck, are there any other tools you or anyone can suggest??
Yea, as long as you can boot into download mode then I suggest you utilize Odin and flash a stock image. There are two routes that you can go:
1) Odin flash the Verizon OTA VRBLK3 stock tar from DroidStyle's guide in the dev section. With this method, you would be returned to out of the box VRBLK3 and would need to root/unlock then flash roms again. The Odin tars included here are labeled as wiping /sdcard so be mindful of this.
2) Odin flash a rooted VRBLK3 image from mrRobinson thread. His thread contains Odin flashable rooted tars that are exactly the same as the OTA equivalent except they are rooted already. With this method, you would just need to unlock your bootloader using EZ Unlock v1.2 before flashing any custom roms. There's two versions of each rooted image here, one that wipes /sdcard and one that does not. So if you download the one labeled as wiping /sdcard all of your contents will be completely erased.
