weird battery readings - T-Mobile LG G2x

I just got a used g2x and I flashed Hellfire 2.0 gb rom.everything Is working fine except battepry life. I wipe everything n installed rom. The problem is that battery % is at 50% and it will drop to 30% in 5 min than after I locked it. For 3 min And unlock it again to use it the battery % goes up again by like 15% can it be bad flash or bad battery

Sounds like you're running Faux123's DS driver kernel. The battery readings can be pretty funky, but supposedly you get longer battery life. Try switching to a CM kernel of his. No more funky readings. You could also try using a trinity kernel by morfic.

[Q] 6hrs and the battery is dead

hi!
im on ARHD 3.6.4 , my phone battery used to drain more then usual but still i managed to work with it.
this morning i think i broke a record while my battery last only 6hrs!!!
i changed only two things this morning.
1. i installed battery calibration app and when my battery was on 100% i ran the program to wipe my battery stats file.
2. i installed mighty text to text sms from my computer and not my phone..
any chance doing one of these two caused the prob?
any help will be great!
thanks!
after calibration it takes a few days for the battery to settle. So wait a few days and battery will be better

I think it's a kernel problem, I switched to the Bricked kernel and back to normal now. There was a problem with the phone staying awake. I killed my first battery in six hours too and that was using Juice Defender also!
Yep kernel problem. Mentioned a million times on the arhd thread. Best bet is bricked kernel for now. No more issues since
i restored 6.3.3 and resolve this issue until confirmed new and good version of a ARHD
I was also using ARHD with Faux kernel.
The battery was really back and would be under 80% after a couple of hours of doing nothing!
Flashed the Bricked kernel and no problems now. Battery is great!
i understand but as much as i saw from other posts around the forum is that
faux kernel is something which is working better with ARHD , it uses all it tweaked and stuff..
is bricked kernel will work good with ARHD? if so why mike doesnt post his rom with bricked also?
there must be a reason
yea i was also in the 5 hour battery life boatt. but im using coredroid 2.5 and was using fauxs kernell. Faux definatly knows what hes doin and is a very respectable dev, he helped my g2x feel like i didnt get soo ripped off by buying itt lol butt yea i listened to everyones advice and switched to bricked and so far my battery is alot better, i fell asleep with out plugging it in to charge and i woke up with 75 percent, i fell asleep with it at 78..... fauxz kernel is great but it does hav some battery guzzling bug
Check out guide in my singature.. It will solve your battery problems in no worires
well i just installed the new ARHD with the new faux kernel and the battery is back to normal.
still getting dead fast but not in 6 hrs
so i guess it was rom / kernel issue and not something from my phone.
im 4 hrs without a charger and im on 80 percent so i think im good.
well , sorry to update that my phone battery keep getting drained fast.
i cant finish a working day.

MIUI battery optimization

I've been running MIUI for a couple of weeks now and I am seeing server battery drain for no reason. I see people posting 12 - 24 hours but I can barely get through 6 -8 hours without seeing a drastic death in battery life.
Also and I'm not sure if this may matter or not but when charging with the phone off my battery tends to charge incredibly fast.
Not sure what the issue is.
Try a different kernel that's my opinion
Kernel right now is 2.6.35.130 Trinity. Can you recommend another
.13 kernel is old in a way try to flash either fauxs or Showp kernel make sure there the cm7/aosp
I am on the latest miui 1.12.23. i have exellent battery life with there kernel. they have updated the kernel. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295200&page=598 scroll down and dowload from pimp and be sure to clear cache and dalvik. and to help battery life install system tuner or setcpu from the market. i use system tuner. i think it works better than setcpu. Also download a battery calibration from the market. helped me alot on battery. hope this helps.

i need help with this, im still pretty new to the whole root/overclock/unervolting thing. currently running gummycharged 2.1 with PBJ and V6 supercharger. Have voltage control maxed at 1200 set on VR and ondemand.
1200 -25
1000 -75
800&400 - 100
200&100 - 150
those are all number i have found that other have been using saying they get 14hours battery life. but in the last hour ive had my phone unplugged ive dropped to 76% battery.
Does anyone have any advice for me?

Ditch gummy. Use a ROM based on EP4D. Also, try to see if you can get more unvdervolting. Here's what I got:

Should I still use PBJ cause thats the only I've found so far the supports voltage control or setCPU

Also do a battery calibration after flashing a new ROM, turn off background data, and turn off auto brightness. All this will help considerably with battery life.
How do I do a battery calibration?

Download the battery calibration app from the market. Just search "Battery Calibration" and it will provide you with the necessary instructions.

each phone is different so be careful when undervolting. i tried to set 1200 to -125 and my phone completely crashed and i had to do a factory reset. I'm actually on IMO kernel which doesnt suppost voltage control but after calibrating i got a good 13-14 hours, granted there werent many phone calls which eats up most of ur battery life, but i was playing games alot, downloaded some apps n such. I figure since i read that imnuts is working on an update to fix a couple issues with pjb ill just stick with IMO until the new pjb is posted. Im also using tweakstock, so maybe u should try that ROM, gummy (from waht ive heard) is pretty outdated at this point. depending on what theme u like id chhose between tweakstock and eclipse. both r very stable.

You can't really calibrate the battery, it will always report the same voltage for a given % charge, within a certain margin of error. Wiping battery stats has been shown to do nothing relating to the indicator of the battery remaining, and is almost always part of a "battery calibration".

Interesting. So it's just to give a semi-accurate percentage of battery remaining based off of the voltage given by the battery?

It's not just normal battery loss, it's EXTREME! I usually get 12-13 hours on one battery.

Your battery will always seem wonky after a flash. At least in my experience it takes some time for your phone to "get used to" the battery. Almost always it seems the 2nd day with a new ROM lasts longer than the first. And the 2nd week better than the first week.

[Q] cm9 kang rom battery file

So, I was using kang's cm9 for a while now, and the the battery messed up something - it turned off while still having half battery displayed, and wouldn't turn on till charging began. I remember from other roms, there was a config file we used to delete when stuff like this happened. Does anyone know which battery file would that be in CM9 Kang?
What are you running Kernel-wise? Faux with DS driver? Otherwise, boot to CWM and under advanced wipe battery stats. Which Kang are you using?
First off, if you're using Faux's DS kernel then that means you were actually out of battery since the DS kernel has bad battery readings. Make sure you're on the fourth update (selfkang3).

I've been using the newest KANG for a while now, and the battery life is significantly better than CM7 was. Leaving the phone in standby all night would drain the battery about 30% or so, now it drains 5-10% at best. I've never had the battery readings become all 'funky'. The phone lasts a full drain from 100-0% if I let it, and it takes days to do so.

Ah ha! Find a post from the 20th or the 21st and get SelfKANG3 it has auto brightness and that may help you with general battery life, as far as the odd readings have you wiped battery stats? Though assuming you've charged it by now from what I understand your battery stats would have been erased by now. In anycase, do get SK3.

The funky battery stats are only for Faux's DS kernel, and dang, 30% a night is not right, on GB I only lose about a % per hour I sleep, so 8% overnight.

thank you Wolf. I did update to SK3, altough the fixed bugs were not very big
I could live without the auto brightness. they should fix the video first, that's my main wish. But I recognize all the hard work they put, kudos. Imagine the world without devs.
Пажалуйста, yea, the bug fixes aren't huge, but the auto brightness will help with the battery drain. Another "trick",.Which I picked up from someone else, is to create a profile in Set CPU so that the.clock speed is minimal when your screen is off.

Bad battery life on AOSP ROMs

I can leave my phone next to my bed without touching it and lose 10% battery. On HyperNonSense i can not lose a single percent. This happens on CM9 and AOKP. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jordan
Run it down fully a couple of times, see if it helps.
Did this happen soon after you flashed the ROM?
If yes, this is mostly due to the battery needing calibration (Fully charge your battery, boot the phone in recovery, unplug phone, erase battery stats, discharge your phone completely then charge it up again to 100%, and after that it should be better, and after one or two more cycles it should be even better).
Otherwise, it is probably your kernel forcing the CPU to run at max clock all the time, so check, if you use SetCPU or another app like this, if it is not set on max clock, or try flashing a new kernel, but even then a battery calibration always helps.
Do you leave the screen on the highest setting? Also, did you overclock it?
maybe you should go into recovery with a 100% charge and bwipe battery stats, because I'm using hyper sensation and my battery life is amazing compared to when I had the stock t mobile rom
I have been using ViperROM for almost a year and my Anker 1900mAh battery performs excellently. It gives me day and a half on moderate use while at least 24 hours on heavy use (keep wifi on all the time). But I do like to try AOSP roms and whenever I have flashed an aosp rom, battery life has always disappointed me. It hardly gives me 14 to 15 hours on slight use.
Is there a way to get at least a day on moderate use on aosp rom? I'm currently using android1234567's CM11 with sultan r52 kernel and i would love to use it for few months.
Does anyone else Any idea?
My settings:
Screen Brightness: Auto
CPU Max: 1512Mhz
I am using ViperS 5.0 and i must say it gives me better battery life that AOSP ROM's.

How many days do you use the ROM to arrive at these conclusions.
Only after the first full discharge (~ 10%) turned off the device and charge it Off.
then give us a report

I have benn using android1234567's CM11 with r52 kernel for almost a week now. I have recharged it to 100% after a full dicharge twice. Still the same results. Something is consuming the battery even when the screen is off.
You might want to try a few things such as :
- set brightness to a fixed and low value
- inactivate WiFi search even if WiFi if off (advanced parameters)
- use wavelocks detectors to identify draining apps or process (localisation and Facebook app are two good candidates)

AFAIK AOSP based ROMs will always perform worse than Sense based ROMs due to the HTC battery management being closed source. Hyper-nonsense still has HTC files under the hood hence why the battery lasts longer. When using CM10.1 my battery would last me about 10 to 13 hours without me hardly touching the phone, with Hyper-nonsense or De-sensed elegencia it would easily last over 24 hours. On Viper 5.0.0 I got 1 day 15 hours 13m and 24s with 15% charge left out of the bad by once.
I can't explain it, but , with Kernel ION 50->52.5 All latest KitKat ROMS Builds seems to act good
now i got this
Same with me.
Had terrible battery life with Sultan's KitKat. Try Albino's , battery's far better...

That's quite difficult to say since we all know viper is the battery killer.I have a 2years old sensation. I used viper for more than 6 months and I was like "damn! throw this off." Now i'm using AOSP and It's just what i was looking for. ::victory:
are you serious? it gives atleast 30 minutes screen on time and a lot better on standby. and customisations are endless.
So many mods to apply. Nothing can be better on my senny than AOSP!
