ics, wii controller, and snesoid - Eee Pad Transformer Themes and Apps

so i got myself the standard wii/android setup (wii controller app, wii controller, and classic controller dongle).
i got to the point where i was able to assign keys to snesoid via the classic controller (the up button was recognized as 3, etc)
anyway, once i actually play a game, it doesn't seem to be responding. however, when i click 3 on the TF keyboard, it does behave as an UP.
any advice?

Have you clicked the "Use input method" in the "Other settings" menu in the Snesoid app? Without that it won't work

I have snes9x EX by Robert Broglia.
It works great with multiple wii controllers.
I got it on the market months ago but it's no longer there

3.1 update + FPSE + PS3 remote = HAPPINESS

Updated last night. Finally got to play around with it this morning. Plugged PS3 remote into USB port on the dock and fired up FPSE. Mapped all of the hardware keys from the controller in settings and now I am playing all of the PS1 goodness I can handle. Excellent!
what game u r currently playing ? and what version of fpse?
is there a chance to use a bluetooth controller aswell? or other solutions without a dock?
I haven't tried to use Motion in Joy to manully input the bluetooth mac address of my transformer yet as I am at work and motion in joy is installed on my computer at home. I am going to try that tonight and see if maybe they will pair now. I am playing Gran Turismo 2, Bloody Roar 2, Ultimate Doom, Rival Schools with no issues so far. FPSE version 0.10.31
The ps3 remote also works great with most of the other emulators.
So far, i've tested it on my transformer with:
Gensoid
Gearoid
SNesoid
Nesoid
Gameboid
GBCoid
N64oid <- for some reason i couldn't get the c-buttons to map to the right analogue stick properly, may look into this later...

so u are using older version than mine,0.10.48. I alredy tried 2 games : spyro 3 and Valkyrie profile, both have sound problem . I hope someone could test em too. the graphic quality is bad if compared to N64oid emulator, the 3d texture is pixelated, the resolution is also very low, so we can see the jaggy. my question is did I make wrong configuration?
about the game rom file, is it correct they come in several files like .ccd, .img, and .sub when we extract from zip file?
thanks in advance

I've got a master emulator game and controller compatibility thread that's growing. I'll update your findings but please stop there to post any games you have luck with.
When you say PS3 remote do you mean controller? It's wired right?
any chance we can get a step by step how you setup the ps3 controller to fpse...

Sure. Plug the PS3 controller in with USB to the dock (obviously). Fire up FPSE and choose your game. Go into the options/settings (for FPSE) and select input. Change Bluetooth pad port 1 to BGP100. Then on touchscreen I turn off the skins for the onscreen controls. This is optional but why have them on screen when you are playing with a controller. Then hit the hardware keys option. Tap the screen for each key then touch the corresponding key on the controller to assign them. Once all buttons are assigned you're done. You have to do it for every game the first time you play it then it will remember your settings for that particular game.
Also I don't run the game in full screen (someone was talking about the graphics) I run it in 4:3 centered. It looks better that way.
edit: Also didn't get a chance to use motion in joy to manually enter my transformer's BT MAC address into a ps3 controller last night to see if wireless might be an option now.
k thanks, i'll give it a shot
when i get to the part where it says press a key, nothing happens.....any idea what would cause that.
tried a different controller and it worked...weird...both work fine on the ps3.
thanks
oh and do i save within game or do i have to go to the fpse menu to save...keeps asking me to load bios, or do you have to do that each time you setup a new game?

On the system menu after you select a BIOS go down to the bottom and save as default config. You might have to push the home button on the PS3 controller to get it to assign the keys. It wasn't registering my keypresses on the assignment menu so I hit the home key like two times (it ended up registering the first button as home and I had to change it).
Excuse my ignorance but what is fpse?

Have you tried Final Fantasy 7?
I never beat that game....
How would one go about trying to pair the PS3 controller to the Transformer via Bluetooth? Isn't motion in joy for a PC/Windows?
Thanks
So far I get nothing but FC's and problems with FPSE. Which version are you using and what games seem to work? I have a lot of old PS1 discs but none of the images I've made will load without a FC.
I've been trying to run off the micro sd. Is that a problem?

[Q] n64oid + sixaxis controller

Hi,
I installed n64oid on my TF, and connected a PS3 sixaxis controller via BT, everything seems good, I can map the controls in the emulator app, but when I launch a game i got the message "n64oid is running in background" in the notiication bar, and i can't control the game with the gamepad.
If i map the controller buttons to letters like a, b, c etc... and i play with :the dock keyboard it works. I think it is somehow really in the background, and the browsing/loading roms part of the emulator keeps the focus, because if i quit the game and go back to this screen I can see the letters on the screen corresponding to the buttons i pressed while testing...
I tried nesoid too, same problem...
Have any of you already experiences this problem ?
Thanks !
Edit: just tried with a wired xbox 360 controller, it works, so it's just with this sixaxis controller app...
just connect the ps3 controller via usb and it should work fine
2 things I always forget to check; 1- did you change the input method from your keyboard to sixaxis controller using the big button in the sixaxis app? 2- did you go into Other settings in n64oid app and enable input method?

I still am having no luck with my ps3 controller and n64oid. I am working with a Toshiba Thrive, I have them paired, but n64oid seems completely unaware of a bluetooth controller. I have the thrive set to Sixaxis input and n64oid set to "Use Input Method" on. Is there anything I am missing?
Hey guys quick question what's better for games like super Mario xbox controller or ps3?
I love playing Mario on PC emu and getting tf next week hoping to make the experience even better hate keyboard controls
Sent from my GT540 RSpec using XDA App
Truthfully I would say there is little difference. It comes down to whether you prefer a wired or wireless controller. Either way you go with the Xbox 360 controller youre going to have a wire coming out of your docks usb port (have to use PC Wireless 360 adapter)
I have played mario with both and loved it both ways. The only other thing I will mention is that with the Xbox 360 controller you cant program the right joystick, but with the Sixaxis Controller app and a Sixaxis you can program both sticks to work independently. That comes in very handy if you decide to play and first person shooters in n64oid.
sixaxis over 360 control
I really like the dpad on the sixaxis more for classic games due to clearly defined up/down/right/left rather than the large disk with nubs... just my preference though I might just be too picky.
So with the extra stick on the six axis control does it make say golden eye way easier to play ?
I have a xbox 360 but don't have a ps3 so is wether its worth the extra cost really

So I got a Blue PS3 Controller today and im trying to set it up to have the Cbuttons on the RIGHT analog stick, The Left as the main analog and the d-pad as the d-pad.
Im using n64oid 1.1.4 because that is the highest one that works with CM7 Nightly build 253.
And using the six axis app(forgot what it is fully called)

I figuered out that I had to set the Hardware keys on the main Nook settings first(mapping each ps3 button to a letter or number) then going into the n64oid settings and go to hardware keys and setting them there.

Use Controller with Android Games?

Is it possible to either an Xbox360 or PS3 controller with Android Games such as Sprinkle, Angry Birds, Dungeon Defenders, T-Racer, etc...?
I'm also getting mixed info on whether or not its possible to use PS3 and Xbox360 controllers Wirelessly?

not sure about those games but i use a wii remote for all my emulator games.
The game/application must explicitly support it. The only ones I know of that do right now are the emulators, Riptide, and the new Shadowgun(awesome btw).
I think you can use the XBOX 360 controller wirelessly with the USB dongle, which kinda defeats the purpose. No clue about PS3
Thanks, that's what I figured.
You can use the psĀ³ controller wirelessly with an app called sixaxis. Works amazing on shadowgun and emulators. Im sure itd also work with riptide but i dont have that game.
Thanks! I'll try it out.

The PS3 SixAxis app does the same thing as the WiiMote app. It binds the buttons to letters... which can be MAPPED in Emulators and games that support button bindings.
So Wireless gameplay on native android apps is probably a no go (except ShadowRun since it supports button bindings).
WIRED gameplay is totally different. Android supports WIRED controllers out of the box since 3.1 or 3.2... This should work... to some extent. Your using a controller for a game which requires touch input... may not work well. YMMV!

which driver do you use? I used RWiimote back in the day with my G2 without issue, but it immediately force closes on the transformer.
I got sixaxis working great last night, but it slugs the game down pretty bad. But at the time I was just rooted with bone stock otherwise, I'm in the process of flashing a custom rom, hopefully runs better with CPU tweaks. The only issue I was having with emulators was that I had to specifically select "Use Input Method" in SNES Emu, and I think N64 the option is called Use IME.

On asus transformer with ics the sixaxis controller is natively supported without the need for any other application
I played Meganoid using gamepad. Don't remember having any problems so it's probably fully suported.
Gunman Clive
Helium Boy Demo There is a paid version of the game to.
Pretty fun game with nice graphics. colorful and playful feeling..
Both games supports keyboard,gamepad. Have its own setting menu so you can mapp your keys..
The keys that works and the ones you can use on the keyboard when you set up the buttons (think this goes for all games)
Tab
Caps lock
Shift Buttons
Ctrl Buttons
Alt
Arrows
If you have Sixaxis app. You can use all the keys on the keyboard to choose from if you set Sixaxis to input metod. Seems that this works witout root. So it should work the same if you have the app USB Joystick Center.
Open Sixaxis
Change IME
Choose Sixaxis Conroller
Asus Prime & Tapatalk
Thanks for the advice, but I play all games that support keyboard or mouse or gamepad only with DroidMote.
The important thing is to support some external input devices.

I do not like touch profiles, I find it uncomfortable to create a touch profile for each game, or different touch profile for different screen size or change touch profile for every game. if the game support the gamepad, from the comfort of my couch, with a single device i play with all games.
In essence we are only interested in games that support external input devices.
So are the games listed in the first two posts compatible with Sixaxis without touch profiles?

You said "Now that ICS is among us" I have a Xoom (Unrooted Android 4.1) and EVO 4G (Ported CyanogenMod9 4.04) Do you believe either one of my devices will support gameplay with my Playstation Controller? or Maybe Both? What do you think?
I can't get my Xbox 360 USB controller to work anywhere. Super annoying.
All gamepad supported games will work with sixaxis app just tick emulate gampade controller and the go into the gampad supported game go to settings and there should be map gamepad control's some games like GTA 3 will work straight away

Gta vice city ps3 controller

Hey does anyone know how to change weapons and how to make a drive-by at GTA vice city with a ps3 controller???
Works great!
I am using sixaxis controller on a Nexus 7. I enabled the native gamepad checkbox in the settings and all the buttons work great. When driving I can use L2 or R2 for drive by. And I think R1 switches my weapon. It seems to work just like it would on a real play station.

Something must be different with my version of GTA and Sixaxis because all of the buttons work for me without any issues. Its just like I am playing the game at home on my PS2 except for the fact it's wireless :silly: I have the Enable Gamepad checkbox checked and that's it. Make sure you are using the latest version of Sixaxis.

Seems like I jumped the gun then. I think since I didn't see an option in GTA to setup a controller that I just assumed it wasn't supported. It's actually pretty quick to take a screenshot and map out touch control emulation so I did it right away without trying GTAs native support. I'll try it later on and see how it works/compares.

Yeah, so much better. You don't need to see the touch controls, and it maps exactly to the ps2 controls.

Hello, sorry if this seems a bit daft, but can the controls only be changed if rooted?
Basically, I bought a cheap wired controller to use for Vice City, as plugging my Sixaxis controller in via USB drained the battery too much.
My Nexus isn't rooted.
Is there anyway I can amend the buttons, as the wired controller does not correspond to the original buttons? Some buttons don't even have a function.
Cheers.
Anyone?
But the buttons change in-game when you get in a car and out a car.. That means you have to make 2 profiles?
I really don't get it.. Gamepad is enabled here too but the keys are different to the PS controls. I really want to change them like PS2/PS3.
Someone knows how or got a profile I can download?

hey thanks man, that would be nice if you could make a couple that fits the PS2/PS3. I'll check it here over a few days
hello to all people, here is the solution to have orginal ps2 buttons config on android gta vc. self tested and work. here is the tutorial.
1. open sixaxis app and disable touch profiles (set it to none)
2. now open the preferences and go to gamepad settings(2nd entry) and enable native gamepad support.
3. next step we go button remapping in gamepad options menu and edit all buttons as in this list.
Search for the key you want to edit (triangle...) and set it to what i say in the pop up what appears.
Triangle = Y
Circle = B
Square = X
Cross = A
L3 = R3
R3 = L3
Now go back, start GTA VC and enjoy. The buttons for run, shoot and jump works right to ps2 version. the L/R3 exchange is because the sirene and car missions(Police,Fire...) changed.
Backup/Restore
To use gamepad in other games and that make problems you must set back the buttons to orginal. use the same tut but the orginal key
mapping and all will work normal.
Orginal Android Key mapping:
Triangle = B
Circle = Y
Square = A
Cross = X
L3 = L3
R3 = R3
Please give a little bit push of my thanks button.
Tut can be link or else to post one.
p.s. Does anybody need a Button Overview for this game? like... on foot: Cross = Run
on car: Cross = Accelerate
Thank you but what about Fifa 14. This games doesn't support gamepad and setting up a map can't because you have 2 images in game.
Buttons change when opponents or you got the ball?
What about this?
I use the DS3 controller via latest Sixaxis controller app (gamepad mode) but in GTAVC, the virtual touch controls keep poping up every once in a while?! :-/
Anyone has similar problem??
