Which baseband are you using? If you're not using the July baseband, I'd suggest upgrading to it. Just search for July baseband and you should find instructions. If you're already on that baseband, try updating your RIL with the GetRIL app from the play store. If none of that works, try wiping cache and dalvik in recovery, then fixing permissions.

I have the new baseband and have tried numerous wipes and fixing permissions and also the getril from market. Has anyone one fixed this with a new sim card I have read if you can find an old style card things work better in the g2x?

Are you using WIFI at the time or mobile data? I have issue with MMS using wifi. Everyhting works as expected when using mobile data.

I can receive messages with wifi calling on and that is the only time I can get them on wifi or mobile data nothing

Hey I'm having this same problem. Has anyone else been able to solve this? From what I've seen, it seems that the OP and I are the only ones with this problem

I tried tons of other things and never got it to work correctly I ended up exchanging phone under warranty for 5 bucks and with the new unit had none of the problems that I was having with the old one so in my opinion it is a hardware issue that you can not fix with out changing out phone I ran across a few others that ended up changing out phone. The only thing I can recommend is somewhere I saw a thread where some people had flashed a experimental rom and lost the ability to text and they had to use some kind of at commands to the modem to get it back in the right mode you should be able to find it if you search the fourm

I was able to find this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19794570&postcount=9
but I'm a little confused because he says that he "saved" the settings or something after he clicked refresh, but I don't see any option to save. any time i leave that menu and go back to it, the numbers are gone again.

it has been my experience that even with completely stock, unrooted builds, MMS picture messaging does not work with wifi. even in jacksonville, fl and new orleans, la (both 4g markets), that while on wifi, if you receive a picture message and attempt to download it, the phone will connect to the 4g mobile data service to download it. it happened on both my g2 and my g2x. i want to say that with wifi calling turned on you can download picture messages, but im not entirely sure.

[FIX] General Network Failure sending/receiving MMS

I've run into this on multiple ROMs, and every time it seems like it only affects some people. As far as I've been able to find, the common link hasn't been found. It has now, and the fix is incredibly simple.
Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All > Dialer > Clear Cache
Reboot
Do not restore SMS/MMS/APN Dialer storage data
This was posted in the VaelPak thread, but wanted to get it out there for everyone.
Edit:
I tested this on a fresh install before posting.. both breaking it and then fixing it. But when I restored my broken nand backup, the fix did not work. So mileage may vary, but flashing a fresh install and not restoring the dialer storage should still be a winner.
See post #4 for another confirmed cause and fix
THANKS! Been having this issue since and I didn't feel like searching everywhere for this...until you posted it up here, which made my day a breeze!
Thanks awesome find
There is more to this.
The original cause and solution were both confirmed, but another one has been found. It was caused by a battery mod. So conceivably MMS could be broken by any UI mod that includes /system/framework/framework-res.apk
The good news is, replacing the file with the one that came with your rom should fix MMS after a reboot.
This cause and solution have also both been confirmed. But what about the mod that did it is not known right now.
There seems to be many causes to this problem and seems a fix is based upon each individual and there phone. I see people with this error from a factory ROM and fresh phone. Some issues can also be fixed by un-checking delivery report/read report in messaging settings.
*UPDATE* ~ Possible Fix ~
Not sure if this applies to all but it fixed my problems altogether. In the apn settings there are 2 listed one for Internet and one for MMS. Take the MMSC, MMS Proxy, and the MMS Port settings from the MMS apn and copy those to the internet apn. No need to reset. And don't delete any apn's either.
I can t get this to work
hey can you help me out-I keep flashing unrevoked-forever-son.zip repeatedly and it doesnt work-It keeps saying s-off.I have clockworkmod recovery-I need to turn s-on because i have to take my evo back to a sprint repair shop.my 4g radio got hosed.I must have deleted the keys-I was able to correct my mac address however 4g will still not connect

Don't worry about it?
This isn't even the right thread for that.
I just returned an Evo, rooted, with a custom ROM on it. They didn't care. The chance of them seeing S-OFF instead of S-ON is pretty much zero.
is this the same problem as
when roaming i am unable to make calls nor connect to the internet. i tried calling and i get this message
"unable to connect, this is an unauthorized devise on the Verizon network...please try your call again........"
I had this issue and it was due to a messed up xml file in system/customize/MNS/default.xml
Unfortunately for me, the only way I fixed it was to hard reset with with the proper edits to the file.
I was learning how to build ROMs and edit certain xml files and I guess I screwed up the syntax of this particular one and ruined my MMS

Not the same. Call sprint and tell them you can't make calls while roaming and that you get the verizon message. Tell them you need to repush the network information. That'll fix it quick.
Voicemail problems
Don't know if you guys can help out, but I can't find a thread on this anywhere. My voicemail is not working period. I will call from another phone and leave myself a voicemail. Go to check it and it is no where to be found. I am running fresh 3.2 and kingkernel bfs #9. Any suggestions?

I use Google Voice -- It will replace your current VM system and also sends you emails with your voicemail transcribed into text... give it a shot!
I also use it to ask me to use Google Voice to dial out or allow android to dial...because I hate dialer and if you hit connect/call it immediately dials the first number on the list.. googlevoice at least lets me choose which one I want or none at all.. Its like putting a condom on voice dialer! (Ok, not really, but....)
^ that or youmail. I like youmail because if the phone doesnt ring sometimes (out of reception or if youre on a call sometimes) youmail will send you a email or text showing the missed call. I archive all missed calls/voicemails (for work) so it works out perfectly.
back on topic, I tried deleting the dialer storage, but my mms settings still show some wierd Orange.UK url for the mnsc and i have no idea how that happened. I will try to reflash the rom and see if that fixes it...
Thanks for the suggestion, just got everything setup. Google voice works like a charm.

[Q] SMS receiving issue

Alright, I know this issue has come up over and over again with random G2x's. We know that it must be a hardware issue. I spent a good deal of time tonight working on my brothers phone, I figured with the V21y baseband and the new EB with support for v21y, it just might work. I am hoping someone will read this and have some incite.
Restored phone to 2.3.3 with baseband v21e.
(sms functions)
Upgraded using the LG support tool to 2.3.4 baseband V21y.
(sms functions)
installed latest EB ICS 4.04 nightly for v21y
(sms unable to receive)
installed Buru 2.3.4 v21y (Stock, debloted, rooted v21y)
(sms unable to receive)
reverted to 2.3.3 v21e (bare stock)
(sms functions)
upgraded again to 2.3.4 v21y using the LG support tool.
(sms functions)
at this point I decided to make a backup nandroid, hoping I would save some type of file difference that perhaps a dev could figure out. This is what is weird, before I took the nandroid I did a privacy wipe through the menu system. I than let the phone boot up, shut it down. did the nandroid bu, and than reboot. I was than UNABLE TO RECEIVE SMS's! Just to verify, I reverted back to 2.33 v21e, tested sms again, it works. I than re-upgraded to v21y, again sms worked. Again I factory reset through gb's privacy reset option, and again the sms's fail to receive. What type of personal data could possibly cause sms to function?
Did you double check your APN settings?
I probably should have mentioned this is not the only G2x I have used. I currently use the same phone, and have three other friends using them as well. They are all on ICS, and all have no SMS issues. I did check the settings against mine, and they are the same. I also tried swaping out the sims to make sure that it was not the issue. This is one of the "odd ball" phones that has some type of hardware difference. It seems no one has worked out this issue. If you read through the Dev section, under every ROM you will find random posts of people with this exact issue. These posts always end with people going back to stock, or giving up. Again the phone worked on stock 2.3.4 v21y, before a factory reset..... I don't get it.

I have the same issue, but I'm on Wind in Canada.
I've tried multiple things to try and fix this and none of them has worked consistently. Only thing I haven't really tried is flashing a non v21y baseband, because I could not find the kdz files.
Whenever I use the LG tool and flash the v21y update, sms works.
After that, when I go to a custom ROM (I check with getril), sms stops working after a while, usually after I use Titanium Backup to restore my app and their data.
I gave up and decided to stick with the stock T-Mobile gingerbread, sms worked until I restored my apps with Titanium Backup. I did not restore any system data, just my apps, but I did freeze a few system apps. I read somewhere that wifi-calling needs to be enabled, so I left that on.
The ROMS I've tried include Hellfire (Phoenix and Sandwich), EaglesBlood, CM7.2.
Anyway, I've decided to try again with the LG tool and look at the logcats to see if I can identify the issue. Any updates would be appreciated.
Same issue here, but I _can_ receive SMS when using Wifi. I am using EaglesBlood 4.0.4 (ICS), with v21y baseband. As soon as I turn Wifi off, I no longer get texts. However, I can send them just fine.
Had no issues when on v21e and CM 7.1.
Tried the fix here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24872502&postcount=83, but perhaps that is not meant for the v21y baseband; it didn't help me.
I will keep trying things. I may end up back on a rooted stock or trying to downgrade baseband. Will report back my findings. <sigh> Wanted to get the fast GPS lock with v21y but if this SMS problem is baseband-related it's not worth it...

Well, flashed the 2.3.4 stock ROM for 21y from TGA_Gunnman, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1048274 - still have the problem. As soon as I turn on Wifi, I receive the texts.
For me there is another correlation - whenever I try to send an sms, my data signal (4g icon in the status bar) goes away. It takes around 30 secs or so to come back.
I got a new SIM card yesterday. I was talking to a T-Mobile rep about my wife's phone which is having a separate issue, and the rep said that our SIM cards were "2g" (that's what it sounded like). They told me to go to a store and they would mark to give me new SIMs for free.
Funny thing is, I had it in the stock ROM still, and when it booted back up in the store, I got the SMS from T-Mobile right away. I then sent myself a text from my wife's phone, and got it right away. All while on 4G, not Wifi.
When I got home, I restored EaglesBlood ICS but nothing changed (SMS still only received on Wifi calling). Going to try stock again, but will have to wait a couple days...
I tried putting my SIM card in my non smart phone and it works for sending and receiving. Just that, usually I get the test messages that I had sent too, but not now. So it is not sending either, I guess.
---------- Post added at 12:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:58 AM ----------
I restored v21e using the kdz tool. No test messages came back on T-Mobile, so I restored stock Wind rom with the intention of taking it back.
I tried sending test messages and after about ten minutes, I started receiving them. I tried this on wifi and 3g, both work. Does not work with data and wifi off.
Any clues?

Update : I stopped receiving them after a reboot. This is getting more and more puzzling.
I restored stock T_Mobile and they started working around 15 mins after restoring. Then, I rebooted and it stopped receiving, for a while.
I also installed CM7.2 and while it could send sms, it could not receive. I have pasted the radio logcats here - http://pastebin.com/u/baseband
I hope someone knows from reading these what exactly is going on.

Thanks for that, I have installed the APN backup.
I don't think that's the whole problem because I have this issue even when I am connected to the network.
Update: today I tried messing with the APN settings within EaglesBlood 4.0.4. I used APNs for T-mobile from the database here: http://www.osimood.com/2012/05/news-apn-database/ . However, they did not help, and with the second one (with the proxies) I could not use the browser over regular data (not wifi).
With the default APN, I could usually get SMS with Wifi Calling on. (But not all of my tests would come through...)
So, I restored the stock ROM for 2.3.4 for BB v21y from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1048274. I still couldn't get any SMS messages over 4g, unlike before with my experience of getting one at the Tmo store after getting my new sim card. Wifi Calling didn't seem to help this time either, after leaving it on for about 20 minutes.
I then decided to call Tmo tech support, and after the intial rep passed me off to a support tech finally, he walked me through these steps:
(Obviously I was on a clean system, so I told him I had done a master reset or full erase. I also mentioned to him that I ran the LG software update tool on my computer with my phone connected, which I had found and that I understood it was to upgrade the "baseband." I told him I hoped I hadn't screwed anything up, but that's when the problem started happening.)
1. Clear out all texts from the inbox (I only had a couple ones that I had sent from the phone).
2. Go to Apps -> Messaging -> Clear data
3. Go home, power off phone.
4. At this point, he said he took the phone off the network / refreshed the connection.
5. Booted back up after a few seconds.
6. Sent a test SMS to my own 10-digit number with 1 in front.
7. Got it, and then the other tests from today started pouring in!
Let me also mention that my voicemail indicator was on in the stock ROM ever since my new SIM. I called VM, but no messages; yet the indicator stayed on. Told him about this, and he said the indicator appears (and I would guess disappears) by the network sending me a silent text message, so it makes sense that it wouldn't go away before. After the steps above, the indicator went away within a few minutes.
I sent a couple more tests, and got them right away. So, I think I am going to stick on this stock ROM... I may have to root it to get TitaniumBackup installed so I can restore all my apps, but fingers crossed that it still works after that! I'm too scared to restore EB or try CM 7.2 with the new BB, but they might work (of course, no bluetooth! separate issue). Oh well, enough hours wasted messing with a stinking phone.
The rep also mentioned it's a good idea to turn off the phone once a day, and leave it off for a few seconds, then power on. This apparently refreshed the connection with the towers -- if you are idle for a long time then they start ignoring you. Weird, but anyway, rebooting never hurt anyone.
Best of luck.

Rooted using: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255214. SMS still works!
I'll try this as a last resort before going back to v11h baseband and taking the phone to WIND.
Update1: On stock wind ROM, clearing messages data works. Does not seem to work on CM7.2
Update2: Still have problems on stock ROM, even after clearing message data and rebooting every once in a while. Messages are delayed and fail sometimes.
Tried the APN restoring, but that did not consistently work either.
Has the APN issue been fixed ? I searched around, but the various fixes proposed don't work for me.

[Q] Google voice search for jellybean error

I have been on Sky ICS ROM for quite a while now, and it has the Google Now and voice search for ICS in it and it has worked up until a few weeks ago. When I voice search for anything, my browser will open and display an error saying "We're sorry, but your computer or network may be sending automated queries. To protect our users we can't process your request right now." Strange thing is, it's not consistent. Sometimes it will work fine, then suddenly gives me that error. I have tried flashing back to stock then reflashing Sky ICS from scratch...same thing. Any ideas what could be wrong? Is it my phone, or is something going on on Google's end?
I've had this problem happen to me a few times, not exactly sure what causes it but only (statistically) happen when I update CM10 with the OTA updater. If I do it manually and include clearing the caches it usually fixes it self, then after that I just fix permissions after reboot.
But yeah I've had that notice popup while I was on data.
Just noticed new quirk with it. It doesn't error out when I'm on WiFi, only when I'm on the mobile network (AT&T). Very strange. I checked the APN settings and everything looks good. Can't think of anything else that could be wrong.
I am STILL trying to figure out why I keep getting this message. I've tried full wipes, flashing back to stock, flashed both bases of Sky ICS, and I am still getting same error message more times than not. I have tried searching online and in these forums for any answers but can't find any. Seems to be either working for everyone else, or the problems they have had are different then mine. Am I really the only one? Does anyone have any ideas?

I was attempting to find the cause of getting this same message from google search. Same symptoms, works great on wifi, sporadically throws this error on data connection. Just so you know, I'm on an HTC Vivid, Holics ICS with Google Now, AT&T.
I am at least more confident that I am not infected with malware....
Still can't argue against you, xcrazydx.
Just FYI, not limited to your device...or mine it would seem....

Strange Problem - Can't Send SMS

Ok, first of all I'm an old veteran at flashing ROMs. Secondly, I know about the SIM card reset, where I restore my phone to factory settings and enter a number in the dialpad (can't remember it, have it written down) to reset your network connection. The thing is, I have a few hours left at work before I'll have time to attempt that, so I wanna explain this issue to the community and see if there's an easier option.
So, to start, I have been running the 01/02 build of Bean Stalk 4.4.2 for a few weeks now with no issue. I'm also on the latest modem, VRUCML1, which I again have been running for a while with no issue.
Today I decided to try out some newer builds, so I made a nandroid and then flashed the new Carbon 4.4 build (01/19). This was when I had my first network issue, where it had me stuck in roaming even though I was in my home. So, thinking the ROM may still have some issues, I switched to a newer build of Bean Stalk (01/17). While I now had mobile data back, I found that my phone was unable to send SMS.
I finally restored my nandroid, yet now I find that this problem is still persisting. I flashed the previous modem, VRBMF1, and the problem still persists.
The weirdest thing, though, is that even though it won't send SMS, my mobile data works fine. I'm able to browse the web at full LTE speeds, but not send SMS.
Edit: After a recent test, it seems phone calls won't work either. So my phone seems to be handling the LTE functions well enough, but is having trouble with the CDMA/EVDO part of the antenna.
Anyone who has any advice, please help. Like I said, I'm inclined to do a SIM reset, but won't be able to until much later tonight.

My IMEI is there, it was the first thing I checked. I did the whole IMEI backup thing way back in the beginning with this phone.
IMEI wouldn't explain the problem anyway. I still have 2-3 bars of LTE at all times, which I wouldn't have if I didn't have my IMEI. For whatever reason regular phone communications (SMS/Calls) won't go through. Since I know that Verizon still routes those communications through the older CDMA/EVDO network, I'm assuming that's the source of my problem.

Sure just make sure things don't get corrupted, if everything is still in order then you can reset sim, worse case call VZ and they can reset (re-provision) the sim for you. Happened to me twice and VZ solved them in both cases.

Sure just make sure things don't get corrupted, if everything is still in order then you can reset sim, worse case call VZ and they can reset (re-provision) the sim for you. Happened to me twice and VZ solved them in both cases.

yeah I figured that would have to be the answer from the beginning. Have to Odin back to stock first, won't be able to do that for probably another 3-4 hours because of a work meeting that's about to start, so I figured I'd ask around.
If anyone has any other ideas, I'm open to them. Otherwise I'll reprovision tonight and report back.
The data/sms issue isn't odd... sms and calls are on the 1x protocol, data is on the LTE/CDMA/EvDO, so if you can't send sms, you can still use data.
Have you tried flashing one of the stock-based roms and seeing if the issue remains? I've encountered that before where stock is fine, but CM/AOSP roms have a wonky issue and *some* people report after doing so, they can get data/calls working on the custom roms. Unfortunately, my resolution there was to cab (LG device) back to factory image.

Flash back to stock, or a stock based rom with stock messaging. Try to force the message through. My messages stopped sending on aosp messaging and was persistent through rom flashes. I eventually forced it through using touchwiz messaging.

Blaze Signal Keeps Going Out Problem(On Any ROM!)

So here's my issue, my Galaxy S Blaze has been switched from ROM to ROM constantly, I have seen ROMS with modified build.props, other added features, and a bunch of other tweaks, you name it! I don't know what all those tweaks mean, I have no idea if it could affect the way my phone receives the signal but it got me so frustrated that I kept switching roms until finally then I went back to stock and am no longer am switching to another ROM.
Here's a history of the ROM switching I've made in the past couple of months:
1st - MIUI
2nd- Cyanogenmod
3rd- Gummy ROM
4th- Liquidsmooth ROM
5th- Cyanogenmod
6th- Dirty Unicorns (problems with signal started occurring right about here, and onwards)
7th- Stock ROM (hmm... nope nothing fixed.)
8th- Validus (still no, I didn't like the constant force-closing of many apps)
9th- Gummy ROM (nope, what's worse is my screen kept freezing if I had atleast 2 apps open and I slid down the notification drawer)
10th- Cyanogenmod (well, maybe switching to cyanogenmod will fix it)
11th- Gummy ROM (*sigh* switching back? Nope, still didn't help my signal)
12th- Stock ROM (you would expect it to be fixed right about here, but nope)
So what's up what is the exact problem with my signal? Here's the thing: My signal works! That's a start atleast. However, if I turn on my Wi-Fi while I'm home, I can still call/text people, all of that works. But after maybe 2 hours or so, the signal bar is still there, it's telling me it has signal and it's connected, SOMETIMES it will be empty meaning I have no signal(when I really do). But in reality, I can't receive texts, nor calls, none of that. So how do I fix it? By restarting my phone sadly, that has been the only solution for me for these past 2 months. People have complained to me because I don't answer my phone anymore, well I'm sorry my phone can't receive those calls due to this messed up signal. There are 3 other T-Mobile phones in the house that have no problem! The problem here is with my Blaze phone.
So what if I turn the Wi-Fi off for the whole day and see if it's the main thing causing the issue? Well, I did this. Turns out that the signal stays on longer than when I'm on Wi-Fi but it still goes out. I have switched SIM Cards, I have tried switching my APN: from "epc.tmobile.com" to "fast.t-mobile.com" but the problem appears to happen more quickly on the "epc" one than the "fast" one. Please help me with this, this has been frustrating me a lot lately. I'm not sure if anyone has even had the same exact problem that I'm having, I've searched online but haven't seen a similar problem.
Some of you might say, wow that is a lot of ROMS you've switched to, I'm sure there were more that I missed but that's as of recent. I can install ROMS correctly, I know how to use CWM when installing a .zip and using Odin when it's a .tar(or other supported file extensions). I've factory reset, wiped the cache, the dalvik cache, all before installing a new rom. After installing each rom, I've also factory reset and wiped the cache to make sure no other problems could affect the way the rom would work. Hopefully I did the procedure right, thanks for anyone who's willing to help me!
Right now I am running:
Baseband Version:
T769UVLH5
Kernel Version:
3.0.8-perf-T769UVLH5-CL990184

Android Version:
4.0.4
Another Issue is that I can't even transfer files to and from my phone when connected to my computer! This is another big issue, here are some images:

Here's what happens when I turn Wi-Fi Calling on but maybe it's just a built-in function that I forgot it had and it's probably normal:

By the way, sorry for the links just copy and paste them in a browser to and remove the spaces between the http :// and i.imgur, thanks! Unfortunately, I can't post links until I reach 10 posts. If the links don't work for you, I've also provided attachments.
Many thanks!!!
That last picture does show the proper function of Wi-Fi calling however I don't know what to say about the rest of your problems.

There are two things I would recommend trying...
1. Use Blackhole System Wipe
I know you've been following all the proper steps in CWM (and I would say to keep doing so), but I've added using Blackhole, in addition to the first steps, and I always get great system performance on my phone, and my parent's phones (I put them on ProvisionMod after stock was being stupid). It works well for pre installation for ANY ROM and helps prevent pesky issues. However, chances are, your issue is baseband related and this probably won't solve it... But still! You never know! It's worth a shot!
2. Reroot your phone
I know this will be annoying and pesky... but sometimes the process goes wrong from the beginning and starts giving issues later on... When I first rooted my mom's blaze, something went wrong, despite my following all the directions, and one of her partitions was completely disabled, no matter the ROM. I redid the process of rooting her phone (not from GB though... From the ICS stock) and fixed the issue instantly! I would try these two steps first and see if they do anything! Good luck!
