i am very dissapointed for this, i am using their rom's for some time as the only daily alternative to stock roms.

Wow, that's a real shame. But to be honest, i don't blame them. All the devs seem to be moving there.
At least one good thing came out of it. It seems they have released a sense 4.0 ROM (still based on primo) for the Desire S.
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/21164-rom22-03-2012x-series-virtuous-primadonna-v1120-alpha-1/
Wow..... the Desire s section SINKS....
Not only the desire s section, they are movong all their active topics for all devices supported by them.
From my point of view it's a huge hit for XDA
With no disrespect for the remaining developers. I do appreciate their work also.

"By moving there we have more control over our threads and can work on building a friendly community for our users."
with now hidden intention or disrespect for neither of the two communities i really don't
understand their move because from my point of view we can't compare the forums, XDA is a way better option, more populated, more experienced etc.
some other reason may be that they will be more exclusively on that forum or they may had same uglly discussions with the forum management.
Either way i am very sorry for this decision, i was very happy with XDA i had all the information& news here and i rarely visited other forums for smartphones knowledge.
Wow that sucks.
But anyway I tried the beta 4.0. And i was no happy camper.
My phone had regular reboots, thats not excactly what a phone should do
But meanwhile using Ice Cold Sandwich I don't have any reboots any more.
BTT: Can't understand that, though having not that much control. There is quite a lot of traffic on XDA diffrent to Rootz i guess.
So some people won't discover Virtous..
The reason they left was stupid behaviour by the people see the post below

Granted, the posts were mean but don't justify relocating. In my native tongue, we say "decapitation isn't the cure-all for headaches". It might as well recur at the new forum but I guess it's more than mere ETA *****ing (sorry for the foul language). My take? Here it goes:
Well, I really loved it here with them. Needless to say, prior to now, I never before now checked out other forums since discovering XDA. I guess I'll have to check the Virtuous homepage from time to time. No prompt updates anymore. No flashing within an hour of ROM release. I truly wish they'd reconsider the total move (or even rescind the decision. I see no harm in keeping even if a single Virtuous thread in XDA). But that's all I can do - wish. XDA may have taken a hit but is by no means any less magnificent because of it. I'd implore them to stroll by & contribute from time to time. We haven't excommunicated them.
On a final note, this ought not inspire a massive de-camping to other forums. If you must, open alternate accounts in other forums. But let XDA keep outshining all others out there.
what a lost

It used to be almost every dev would release their mods on XDA and they would eventually trickle out to the other forums. Lately I noticed more stuff being released on ROOTZWIKI and not on XDA. 2 cases in point are IMNUTS hacked kernel and JT moving all his mods to ROOTZWIKI.

yeah I think some of the devs are getting fed up with the way the site is run, moderated, or just general dislike of the sometimes rude people here... Rootzwiki is not bad, almost exactly like XDA in the way it looks and operates... I signed up over there and check both forums as it seems you are right and little by little more is only being posted over there
interesting. will have to sign up for an account there too.
thanks, OP.
Edit:
btw, what are some things about XDA that's upsetting Dev's?
There is way more activity here though. People tell it like is here and some may construe that as rude.

That's not how Google works -- you can't pay them to rank higher (or even rank at all) in search results. XDA may pay for sponsored links (AdWords) next to the search results, but I'm not even sure they do that as in countless ROM-related searches I've never seen an XDA ad.

I'll create a (not so short) list of reasons why people are leaving
New people asking questions that have been asked 500 times
People not reading threads for known issues/problems/etc.
People not searching before asking/posting
Rude people (not just "telling it how it is" either)
Know it all types that really know nothing
People not following
Lack of moderation
Unfair moderation
Inconsistent moderation with regards to rules
Sense of entitlement among users (goes back to rude people)
I'm sure there are other reasons as well. As for XDA paying for Google rankings, they may not directly, but indirectly, pages that get traffic get higher rankings in search results. And also, a site's age/reputation factors into it as well.
RootzWiki is new, and with most forums I've been to for phones, people will wait to see what the better forum is, then go there. With most devices being released already before RootzWiki started, communities have already developed elsewhere. As new phones come out, where people are posting could quite easily change. And so far, RootzWiki has a much more consistent moderation approach, as well as developer friendly environment.

I'm still using one of your early non-voodoo pbj kernels (along with your modified cwm). Stock EE4. Even at that time, the instruction & comment thread was quite large, with lots of feedback, problems, advice, & fixes. I know you devs are really good at updating the first post of the thread, but the following sentence still applies, especially for newbies.
It is therefore important to read entire threads!
Of course, this is where the problems start for the new folks (re impatient). Then come questions on clarifications. True, I've seen you answer the same question many times.
I can't relate to the "entitlement mentality" of some users.
I read a lot of yours (& kejar's) writings. Truly enjoy it.
I follow the forums with the most traffic. More traffic = more knowledge for me. (selfish bast. . .)
Sorry your experience here is turning sour. I'll not contribute to the apples.
Thanks for all of your hard work, devotion, & yes, patience.
Chris
personally i post everything i do on both xda and rootz
in the beginning i wasnt entirely in support of yet another forum. but they do a lot over there and as new phones come out (especially verizon ones) id imagine the communities will be larger and larger there versus xda
having said that, im surprised xda hasnt shut down this thread yet because apparently speaking of other forums isnt allowed
whereas rootz will let you post xda links and discuss whatever u want (even to their own detriment) regardless
I will add a few reasons that are not mentioned already
1... At Rootz, the site owners are appreciable and friends with many of the devs... They are also strong supporters of developers
2... The allow subforums.. this is important as once you get a subforum, you as the dev/owner of that subform can moderate yourself....
I remember back in the windows mobile Touch Pro 2 days PPCGeeks was the place to be for Sprint/Verizon Roms, so it's definitely possible for development communities to shift to a different website. If enough big developers used Rootzwiki exclusively, I think everyone would follow them. People go wherever the developers go. Rootzwiki giving out free phones to developers is also pretty cool...
This is a Poll to show the support for or against TripNRaver's presence at XDA in the Sensation forum.
I love my sensation, and I feel his presence here could improve our device. I don't know the whole story from his past here, however, I think if the overwhelming majority of responses are favorable to having him here, maybe the Site owner would consider his return. I know it has been done for other Dev's in the past under Very similar situations (PM me for examples of this if you wish.)
This could be a very good thing for our devices, now that he has a Sense ROM as well.

Im amazed at how different the communities are for various android phones.
Coming from iphones the last 3 years , i bought my first android phone (galaxy nexus) and the community was great, made me happy to make the switch.
Ive moved on to the one x and can safely say this is getting the the point of pathetic. On one hand we have people crying about the smallest of issues , then on the other, we have total hard asses constantly flooding the posts with their unnecessary comments (which is just as annoying).

I hope you aren't basing this mindset solely on what you've found in this thread, because this is hardly the prime example of what the HOX forums have to offer. In fact, I would say it's a very poor sampling. If you look around these forums you are surely going to find a bit complaining and trolling, but for the most part you are going to see that there is wonderful collaboration, praise, thanking, sharing, and comradery on a fairly remarkable level. If you dont like it, please feel free to find another device or forum that suits you better. But dont come here to flood a complaint thread with complaints about complaining, you're just perpetuating that which you allegedly find pathetic. Also keep in mind that these threads are quite new and the moderators are working hard to maintain decency and integrity herein.
Ok so as some of you may know development for the Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G is taking off somewhat and yet XDA is ignoring our requests for a forum in favor of devices that aren't out yet and devices that nobody much has heard of... Maybe XDA has a personal issue with phones with QWERTY keyboards.
We encountered this issue on my previous qwerty device also and believe me we almost got top 2 on the voting thread for new devices yet till now it still don't have any forum of its own. I already asked and the reason why it didn't get its own forum was not because of the lack of the community but instead the lack of real developers to support the device. To quote what the mod I talked to he said that
"XDA-developers" is a forum made for developers. Having even a thousand active members on a specific device but only have a handful of developers won't make it eligible for its own dedicated forum. As much as we'd like to provide every device it's own forum we also consider the cluttering of the forum itself so we are just narrowing down the devices on which we could get more active development than a forum full of average user questions.

Although I don't understand why they won't readily create a forum for a device that clearly needs it. I don't agree with their logic. If there's even one dev for a device, a forum should be made. That's like saying "we'll only host the most popular of devices." By that token, popularity should not ensue. And under that jurisdiction, technically the Doubleshot shouldn't exist here either. Our community is quite small, even for a dev community. Most of the daily page hits xda gets from us are the same couple dozen people, some of which login multiple times per day (because they have no life, myself included )
But popularity of the site is still necessary. not that many people know about sdx. When they look for a new phone to buy (devs and modders alike) most will come to xda and poke around to see if the activity is up to their liking. If not, they'll probably search for a new device. Main reason why I haven't switched over to a Captivate Glide or a Droid 4...

I must be weird then as I bought my device because
1. It was the closest thing to a G3 on the market and
2. I was (and still am) angry with and done with HTC after the lack of ICS on the doubleshot.
Oh and 3. My DS died;(
Nonetheless if we decide to move to that other site I'll have to get an android app for it lol.
I'm growing disgruntled with XDA lately but its kinda like a drug for me... and strapped... this device stock is just about equivalent to my ds when it died with regards to ease of use and overall response. I DO miss a trackpad and the home button lags just a bit... but that could be me having an aftermarket launcher with touchwiz frozen but not uninstalled.

I know this is kind of vague and broad, but I wanted to get your opinions on what the fastest roms are that are out there for the Verizon version of the Galaxy SIII.
I just got mine in the mail today and will be ready to root and get goin in a couple hours after the battery charges. I am coming from the Thunderbolt, may it rest in peace, and MY GOD the lag drove me crazy, so I want the quickest LEAST laggy rom for the SIII !
You've been here since 2011, you should know the difference between Q&A and Development.
this isn't development, shouldn't go here
as far as your question goes, i feel aerovans 4.2.1 is plenty fast enough....others you can tweak and screw with all you want if you have a kernel that supports OC'ing your device......only way to tell what is the fastest in your opinion is to flash each one and test it out...simple as that
edit: damnit was ninja'd of my chance to say that for the first time lol

Uh oh.. a wrong section violation. OP, hope you have a good lawyer..that's a crime punishable by death around here.
To answer the question though, people's mileage varies with ROMs. Its all in what you load with them(apps, etc.). The fastest are the AOSP ones, if you don't mind losing the bells and whistles, and putting up with the inherent bugs. Other than that, the more stripped the Touchwiz rom is, the faster it generally should be. Look around, see what one has the minimum of what you want, and give it a shot. Unlock your bootloader. Try an overclock kernel. See how it goes
lol, unless its a thread about a ROM you created, it shouldn't go in development or original development threads
if its a specific question relating to a certain ROM, ask it in that ROMs forum but beware to be flamed for not using the search function
if its a question about a theme or app and theres not a thread started in the themes & apps forum, then a question could possibly be asked in there if its relating to that only
all other questions and inquiries should be posted in the Q&A forum.......at least thats the logic i use when posting on the forums lol
It should be in q and a

This rom has been CRAZY fast on my s3. I tried Paranoid Android and Synergy too. The battery life is also insane, I got 26 hours yesterday (few hours on airplane for overnight).
While everyone is fluffing up their post counts by restating the SAME obvious information over and over for community brownie points, just thought I'd duck in and mention that the sky is generally blue, unless there are clouds in which case it may appear a color between white and dark grey.
In all seriousness though a mod will see that the thread is in the wrong section and move it accordingly. That is their job.Why 267754 people have to let that person know it's in the wrong section is beyond me.

Who cares where this question is posted. Honestly its better its posted here cause the dev threads are where everyone roams I never check q&a. So of it wasn't posted here the question would probably never be answered, so ask away op. My choice of ROM however is pures rls 10 plus has a nice theme included in the aroma installer.
Plus I thought this was a community of helping not making people feel like an idiot.

I personally like Galaxy MOD fast and a ton of options. I generally flip flop between twiz ROMs and aosp ROMs. I'm a flasholic tho lol.

Look the problem is if questions are posted in development then it will start to be hard keeping up with development because it will be cluttered by questions. That is why there are seperate sections.
As for them not being answered... Have you looked lately? There are many senior members who spend there time just cruising there to answer questions. Droid style, con, sdy(can't remember the rest now) to name a few. I personally spend most my time in q and a helping out with the little knowledge I have.
To the OP it depends what you mean by fast. If you mean benchmarks then stick with with tw, I prefer beans with lean kernel WAY overclocked. If real world I say AOSP based, they're light and lag free. My personnel favorite is Eclipse

What are you talking about? Did you read what I wrote I even answered the OP question. I simply pointed out the reason it does matter what forum. As a matter of fact I never even mentioned this was in the wrong spot.

I've always had really good luck with AOSP ROMS in the past on other devices as far as speed goes. Since getting my gs3 I've only tried a couple of TWIZ Roms so far and I'm really pleased with MLJBM with Lean Kernel. Its super fast and buttery smooth and battery is decent as well. With that said I've noticed in the past with previous devices that some Roms respond better on one device and not so much on another. Youre probably best off taking the advice that was mentioned earlier and try a few different ones out for yourself til you find what youre looking for

All i was getting at was instead of bashing the person for posting here just help em out and let the moderators deal with moving this to the proper area thats why there are moderators. We are supposed to be a "helpful" community.
