Has anyone been able to find/install some of the apps from the Sony tablet s such as the music/video player app? Would this even be possible? It would be a nice addition to our transformers!
Nope I tried it and fonix gave it a look but neither of us could get it to work. And that was back on honeycomb quite a few months ago. Once it gets ics and if some people with more experience come in it will be tried again

Hi everyone, i would like some advice.
I am coming from a vast amount of HTC phones (i love HTC, great phones), latest one was touch HD but i broke it (up until then, its my longest serving phone without me getting rid of it).
I am looking at alternatives, and thinking andriod (wouldnt do iphone, tho the apps would be great!)
Anyway, i use my phone mainly for emails, web browsing and playing content over my network through UPNP and windows shares.
How would i cope with Andriod in this situation, do apps exist for these?
In your opinion, which phone do you think is best and if you were me, which would you go for?
I am favouring HD2, simply as i know windows, run custom firmware on it and love the hd! Andriod is an unknown for me, can i install custom firmwares on that?
Maybe andriod onto the HD2?!?!?!
Thanks for any help.
Stuart
funny... i'm opposite of you.
I've been a Sony Ericsson fan for several years now. I currently have the Xperia X1 and introduced to the world of Windows Mobile.
I'm trying to decide also between the HD2 and the X10.
HD2 runs winmo and the X10 runs android.
Switching to the HD2 would break me from being a SE fan and going with X10 would break me from winmo... haha. Still not sure which to choose from.
hey guys a friend of mine that works on tmobile is testing out the samsung hercules (suppost to be the sgs2)
and it comes with samsung social hub. i was playing with it and its kinda cool..
i was wondering if i can get that app on my g2x.. just like i did with Media Hub and works fine...
but at the moment i cant find social hub anywhere on the web
in order to get it you need a dump of the os so it can be extracted. then you need one of the many intelligent individuals on here to make it compatible w/our phone.
I doubt it will work. I think it's built into the Samsung Framework, that is. Unless someone can port it over to stock Android.
Tell that 'friend' of yours who works at "T-Mobile" to dump the rom so we can get a look at it.

So, i cam across this on a tech for old people article of cnet, of all places. but i was looking at it, and i'm curious about it. it looks like it could be a fun thing to tinker with, but is that even possible? It says it runs froyo, can't be too crippled because it has a web browser. Only has "AppsLib" tho, not the market.
Also i can't seem to find it anywhere online >_<
EDIT: wait a sec, has this thing even been released yet?
be honest I was looking at picking one of these up myself. The prospect of running Google music (I did get into that beta) and having access to all my music seems good. Alarm clock functions are also a plus. I imagine it will be root-able and someone will make a g-apps package for it. It has a front facing cam as well so it could possibly run skype, qik, etc. or if 2.3.4+ was installed, Google talk. The Chumby folks also released an android app that emulates a chumby device fully and connects to their services so you could use this as a chumby / Sony dash.
Once you have appslib, just download arctools and ta-dah! Instant LATEST market. As for being rootable, I think any Archos is. The only problem the 35 HC may have is lack of RAM/a slow processor...

Buy the 35hc perhaps as a toy and all is fine. basic email, fring, games. Please don't expect miracles. It's like buying a budget compact camera and expecting dslr quality.

This might not be specific to this phone, since most Samsung phones don't have the ability to do this by default, but maybe it is.
My first Android phone was a Nexus One. Loved the phone, but after about 2 years, it died on me. I was ok with it too, as I was on AT&T and the data speeds were always SLOOOOOW.
Anyways, I have this phone now, and I do miss using a bluetooth gamepad to play snes roms. I tried using the bluetooth input app from the market (the one made by CCP or whomever) and naturally I get the, "This will not work on most unmodified Samsung phones" error message.
While part of me kinda wanted to buy the Galaxy Nexus, which I knew would work with this without any problem, the phone is just too large for me.
If you've rooted your Blaze and taken out some of the apps, have you ever tried to use a bluetooth gamepad (such as a wiimote, which is esentially what I'm using, since I have a Datel gamepad that is basically a wiimote built in) or the newer method which of course is a Sony PS3 controller, that is paired via a connecting cable?
I'm not sure specifically why most of the branded phones don't work with this, all I know is that supposedly the Sense UI phones don't have the proper bluetooth license in their chip so it never worked, I don't know if that was true though, and if it's also true for Samsung's Touchwiz.
I look forward to the day when there are stock ICS rom's that work with our phone available! Until then, I'll use what I have.
Thanks!
If anyone else is wondering, I rooted the phone a couple days ago, and yes, it does. I have not yet personally used the wiipad setup because I don't have any AA batteries currently, but https://play.google.com/store/search?q=sixaxis+controller&c=apps works very well. It connects with "type 2" which means that it has to disable all other bluetooth devices so you can't use a set of bluetooth headphones to listen to music or talk while you are playing a rom, but oh well.
Before I start working on a project like this, is there anyone that would want a custom rom for a GoogleTV style device? GoogleTV falls short in so many ways, and I'm curious if anyone is interested in fixing it.
Google TV rom
I have been looking for a rom to be able to do more with Google TV. So count me in...... I have the Sony NSZ-GT1 UNIT.

As far as usability is concerned I'm thinking that it should be full Android, but with the ability to float any app. On screen keyboards and a few other fixups.
The main reason I've never considered buy one of these devices as an option is that you're at the mercy of the manufacturer to keep the software up with the times. If you're able to build custom ROMs that would change everything. Good luck!
Yes

I would love a custom (and Rooted) ROM for my Sony GoogleTV box.
