CWM locks up - T-Mobile Sidekick 4G

Hi well when i boot into CWM i go to delete factory reset and when it get to format sd part of it it just locks any help.I did download CWM from ROM manger.

i think that there is a known issue with that version, im not sure of the specifics but you need a .zip file made for the sidekick. Im at work and dont have time to look into it but there should be a post explaining it somewhere on the boards.

I had the update zip in the root of the sd card that came with the phone.

im pretty sure there's a replacement for that ill check when i get home. Unless someone else can get to it before then

thx i looked couldnt find

This is the wrong section to be putting this in.

HELP stuck in bootloop

hey guys im new to the whole rooting thing. i recently decided i wanted to try to do it on my own. i successfully switched the phone to s off. Here is the link to the tutorial i was following ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1192300 after getting s off it said to download Download recovery v5.0.0.8. but the link that was provided wasnt working so i had to find another one. i must of got the wrong one or done something wrong because when i put the img file on my sd card and put it in the phone and loaded up hboot, it asked me to update i said yes it updated then i clicked reboot and now im stuck in reboot.
what can i do to get out of this whole and in the right direction, if someone can help me itd be greatly appreciated, thanks.
When you flash something in hboot it should have a list of what it's updating. Therefore it should have only said recovery because that's all you were flashing. If this is the case, and you can get to hboot, try reflashing the recovery again, but redownload it from somewhere else. This sounded better in my head lol. But good luck anyways. I'd link you to a correct file but I don't have my laptop.

First remove the existing pmg58.img file from your SD card using a PC/micro SD adapter or another phone.
Second, you can download the recovery from rom manager in market (assuming your phone boots).

[Q] NS 4G Please Help!!!

Ok, so this is my first post. Been lurking for a while and doing a lot of learning. First rooted my NS 4G about a month ago. No problems at all. Well today, I was gonna flash CM9 rom but researched it a little first. I read where it said factory wipe and format. So thats what I did but I think I did a little something to much. All I can do is get into bootloader and the recovery. I have nothing on my SD cardexcept root.zip, to flash and I can't put anything on it cause it won't connect to the computer. Someone please tell me how to get this fixed. I'm gonna try the odin route and see if that does anything. I've searched and that seems to be the way to go. Wish me luck on that and someone who is more experienced knows a better solution, please tell. Just please don't tell me I'm screwed.
type fastboot flash recovery twrp-crespo-2.0.0RC0.img in cmd, in the correct folder.
Download that from this page: http://nexusshacks.com/nexus-s-root/how-to-root-nexus-s-or-nexus-s-4g-on-ics-or-gingerbread/
Once you flashed, go to recovery and this will get you into team win recovery project. From there choose mount and mount your sd card. Copy your rom into your sd card and than unmount. Go back and choose install and install your rom. If your rom required google apps, flash that too. Once your done reboot your system and bobs your uncle.
Thanks for the reply. I actually went the odin route, which I was then able to go back to completely stck and start over again. Glad I got it figured and to be honest, I probably jumped the gun in asking for help, but man I got worried when I couldnt do anything with it. Keep up all the great work everyone. About a month and a half ago, I never knew what rooting was. Now I can't wait for new updates on roms and kernels, to come out.

[Q] Noob needs help after rooting - Stuck in hboot & white screen

Well, I must admit I am in over my head....I have owned an inspire for a few years and finally decided that I wanted to try and learn about rooting etc. I followed instructions using the advanced ace hack kit and flashed cyanogen mod7 rom and I was so proud....then some problems and some bad decisions by me. First, there was some sort of issue with the phone as I could place calls and hear but the mic did not work. Unsure of how to fix that problem, I tried a new rom (leedroid) which was still ok but upon starting I had no service. Clearly, I do not know enough to troubleshoot and I should have read more prior to beginning and this is where I began to get into deeper trouble. After trying to revert back to the cyanogen mod7.2 using rom manager, I have really messed things up. Right now, I have lost clockworkmod recovery so when I hold down the volume and press the power, my only option is hboot and it prompts me "do you want to start update"that goes nowhere...If I begin with the power button only it hangs on the HTC white screen. Iknow, I know I should be searching and reading. Believe me, I am but I could sure use someone to give a lost guy some help! I have been trying to learn and download my original RUU to perhaps get back on track that way...Thanks in advance for taking the time to read!

First try taking out your SD card and using something to connect to the computer and take off the P981IMG or whatever that zip file is called. Then try booting back into recovery again. Also, next time try to not use rom manager and just flash it from recovery mode.

Here is the rooted stock from and radio just place in root of SD (not in any folder) boot up into hboot since you known how to do that let it find it will ask to install volume up for yes let it do its thing then reboot when asked. Make sure all roms and pd98 s are off SD card before you put this one on it. It will give you gingerbread from then you can install whatever custom from you want.
Have and enjoy the learning

Wow! First, thanks for the quick repsonses. Yes, my first lesson learned is to flash from recovery as it seems more direct and therfore less likely to create problems for me until I get up to speed. This morning I am at work, so not alot of time available, but I did take out the SD card and rebooted and I found it interesting (for me anyway) that I can now choose the clockworkmod recovery v5.0.2.0 with out my SD card inserted. So, I can see that I messed up something on my SD card. I think when I get some time today, I will download the rooted stock that Reinaldo offered, clear all the stuff off my SD card and put this file into the root directory and let hboot update with this file. I knew I came to the right place for help! Think I will spend the day reading the basics trying to understand how all these pieces work together...
U just have a PD98IMG.zip on ur sd card that u need to get off of it cuz hboot is trying to flash it as soon as it boots up. So when u remove ur sd card, it's not trying to flash that zip so u can get to recovery. So u need to plug ur sd into a pc & move or delete that zip. Or u can just move/delete it with a file explorer once it boots up, of course. Just be careful to never put a PD98IMG.zip on the root of ur sd card unless ur ready to flash it. Then be sure to move or delete it once ur done flashing. Did u download a radio or something?

[Q] Skyrocket ,Gingerbread to ics leak

OK guys, heres what i did...i read and read and then i read some more, and i figured out how to install the one click ics leak, worked out fine, and i ended up with the I727ucld2,wich thru my reading, i figured is what i wanted...and i was happy..for about 10 minutes, now im hooked ..i needed a custom rom now...hehehe..so i read and read some more found out that i needed to be rooted in order to install a rom....the ics leak didnt do that for me...i read some more and foud out the basics of odin and the skyrocketCMWrecovery.tar,(clockworkmod-touch-5.8.1.3-hercules.tar) if all went well with odin i would be able to flash the superuser.zip file to my phone and get rooted...stay with me ..my question is coming...read some more and found the rom i wanted, (ICS_ SMOOTHIE) read all the instructions and by now was confident...i went for it....and BAM just like that 15 minutes later i was the proud owner of a skyrocket rooted and running a custom rom...by the way is awesome..ok hears my question,,i never backed up gingerbread before installing the leak or the rom...but afterward i ran a nandroid i think its called, from the clockwork recovery . and i have a backup file now on my phone....but for some reason im just not convinced it will save me if i start playing around some more, cause now im really hooked. how do i know my backup file will work? because i backed everything up after the leak and the rom..im not sure clockworkmod ,will be able to install the backupfile it saved ,rom manager from the market doesnt reconize my phone only the t-mobile one ,,and most people say not to use it???is that right / or should i use it with the t-mobile...sorry about all the writing but wanted you to know the whole story...hey thanks everyone ...been reading for days and couldnt have done it without you...

The nandroid WILL work fine. And as for ROM manager.... It's a no go for us. Only use it to fix permissions.... and only do that if you have problems.

You dont need to do anything with rom manager but fix permissions. Dont worry about flashing cwm with it, you already have it. but just so you know we would use the tmobile version because we don't have one.
The backup should work fine, if not, no big deal just odin the stock tar file from sammobile.
i think i saw that stock file somewhere in my searching, i might just go find it just in case...if i some how get messed up playing around ,your saying i can just boot into download mode in odin and install the stock tar?

You speak too fast !!!!
1. If you use ROM manager to "update" recovery, you do need the T mobile one.....BUT BUT BUT, it will throw you to an older version.......which may or may not give problems..............so forget it,.
2. Want to know if you nandorid works. Simple. Just go into CWM and restore it. Then you will know ! Seriously, if it buggers your phone, you can easily go back to stock. This is the only way you will ever sleep at night !!
How do I know? That is the only way I figured it out for myself my very first time !
Have fun !
i did just for giggles try and go back and restore it in cwm (was worried to do it cause my phone is working very very nicely) but i did and it gave me an error something about not being able to mount ex sd card ....thats what has got me worried...as you know there is not an ex sd card that came with the phone so everything was done on the internal one..and thats where the back up is stored with cwm....it gave me an option to just reboot and i did and everything is fine..but i still am left wondering if the backup will work when i need it.....will cwm be able to restore from internal sd card? it didnt when i didnt need it to but was that just because everything was ok to start with??

That "error" is normal about xet sd card. I have done nandroid backups to both external and intenal SD. Both work fine. The internal SD also is NOT deleted whn you wipe data etc. for flashing ROMs.
Again, since the ext sd backup works........the best way to know is to try. Create nandroid to internal card.....then restore from internal ! Bingo, now you know !
Another good option is to copy the backup to a computer. Then you can put is on to the ext sd card if anything evil happens.
Keep smiling !
Yes. Everything will be fine. Trust CWM. It has never failed.
On another note... ohmygod a respectable noob! ^.^

need help. my sdcard is not mounted

so i installed the cm9 alpha, restored stuff via titanium backup (only green marked stuff, and some whites) and i got into a bootloop. so i went into recovery and instead of going into clockwork i used the factory reset thing at the start. (probably the main problem this happened)
so now when i boot up my phone, i cant access my sdcard. what do i do?
ive checked around ADB methods on pushing stuff over, but naturally that didnt work. so im basically stuck here. PLEASE HELP

Try using the All in One tool in the dev section to reflash CWM Recovery, then keep trying to ADB push a stable ROM zip to your SD card. It might take a few tries but it does work. I saved my phone from a similar situation a few weeks back using the ADB push method.

thats what im currently trying to do. for some reason clockworkmod recovery just wont work. whenever i try to go into recovery, the phone just boots instead. and i tried multiple times to push over a rom, but it just wont get past 4mb.
http://i.imgur.com/o0WZm.jpg
this is what happens.
keep in mind i had to scratch the whole using clockwork and used the other recovery instead. that atleast lets me get to recovery. but as you can see, it wont even push over 4mb out of the 137mb of the newest cm9 build.
let me explain what im doing, im following this guide (i dont quite understand what he means with the first part "flash your recovery back to stock" i just assumed he meant to reinstall the recovery, so tell me if i did something wrong here) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25557817#post25850720
and im also looking in the how to push a rom with adb thread aswell. i feel like im doing the right thing here, and dont know what else to do. this is getting frustrating. a phone with no memory isnt all that enjoyable

I used this thread to salvage my phone:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667929
I followed the instructions to the letter, and got the ROM pushed on the third try. I reflashed and was back in business.

i tried that one aswell, but since my sdcard is not mountable, "- Ensure in Recovery that your phone shows "Unmount /sdcard/" and "Unmount /system/" (If they do not show this automatically, just press each one once respectively as pressing just toggles Mount and Unmount) " wont work for me. and it says that the file has to be in tools instead of permanent-tools, and that also did not work for me. ive tried basically everything up until now. theres still one thing i dwell on, and that is to flash to stock recovery. i dont know where to find that for a Norwegian Telenor handset. i can find the t-mobile one, but thats pretty much it
I had the same problem what I did was, I went to fastboot locked my hboot, "fastboot oem lock" and flashed original RUU in fastboot. RUU you cam find in development section. But first you have to lock your hboot.

i have to admit i have no idea what you mean here. im not pro at this, so i honestly didnt understand much of that. RUU is also something i dont "quite" understand what it. i think it is the OS itself or something.
i have no idea what i did, but i think i just solved my problem without even knowing why:s i just did the same **** over and over again. and i didnt push over anything. i just decided to "screw this, turn that phone on" went to storage and there the sd card was for some unexplainable reason. now i dont have any of my stuff though, that kinda sux

Looks like you found out for yourself; I was going to say that you may have to reboot your recovery a few times before the SD card shows up. I think I had to reboot CMW four or five times before it showed. After that, I was golden. Well, after pushing the ROM zip twice, that is. Make sure you always have a back up or ROM zip on the SD card from now on. It sucks that you may have to resort to a blank slate, but it's better than being stuck with a $500 paperweight!

i actually had a backup, and 2 roms on my sdcard, but that obviously didnt help from now on i will keep a backup on my computer aswell as on the sdcard. if i could ever get my stock backup back that would help. looks like im not gonna have a stock backup anymore. anyone redirect me to some place i can find that just in case i ever need to revert back to stock? Norwegian Telenor based phone if that is info you needed to redirect me. thanks for all the replies guys
