[MOD] HQ Camera For ICS - v1.2 ([email protected]/s)
Looks like they got the camera working for the Sensation
This should help put us in the right direction, no?
Our phone is essentially the stepsister of the sensation

that's great but unfortunately i guess it's only a tweak of the sensation's stock camera.
which means that we would still need an official ICS rom for our phone to be able to (maybe) enjoy the same tweaks

im running desensed 1.1.3 and flashed the virtuous inquisition file it worked but still no 1080p video it force closes......but the iso 1250 is now present in the camera menu

this does enhance picture quality my previous pics were about 1.5 mb where now they are about 4.5 mb

I'm fairly certain that we actually have the Amaze's camera, and not the Sensation's camera.

no definetly not the amaze camera it is almost identical to stock mt4gs camera. You can take a look here:
http://htc.t-mobile.com/amaze-camera-phone

Cool, definitely bumped the pic size up to about 2.5 MB, even using ICS camera app. Now my question is, does anyone know what the size is on stock doubleshot?
Edit: nevermind, the size on stock DS camera is about 1.5 MB! So with this mod, the camera on pyro ice may be better than stock DS! Camcorder is still out, obviously, but still cool.

camera?

ok so my girl has the htc vivid on sense 3.6 and ics and i have the sensation with arhd and camera mod 1.5.
these phones say they have the same camera but her camera is sooooooo much better, more clear, more colorful, and focuses better. also when comparing video cameras my phone seems much farther zoomed in when neither cameras are zoomed in. how is this possible? she is not rooted all stock.
guess thats the mod u installed + all things she has else: stock rom ics sense 3.6 wich uses its buildin camera and not a mod wich could make it better, otherwise use her phone to record, try a stock rom to compare the real thing. or edit the camera options in camera app itself to make it more colourfull

[Q] Best ROM for Camera

I just got this phone about a week ago!
So yeah, I'm using OrDroid 8.2 currently, and I'm finding the image quality to be quite.... sub-par. The images always end up noisy and I can't really use the zoom function as it always produces blurry pictures (even when I focus the camera). Apparently, images captured on Sense 4 roms for the HTC Sensation aren't as good when compared to Sense 3.6 roms. Is this true? If so, I'd definitely switch back to ARHD.
If there is an even better rom for camera taking and overall performance, please do recommend as I'm an avid gamer too!
Thanks
Yes. Sense 3.6 with HQ Camera Mod is way better than Sense 4 wit or without HQ camera Mod. Sense 4 camera is more grainy. I like Sense 3.6 better. Just wishing that the Camera could be ported. (Not yet been done).

Wanting old Sensation 1080p Camera or equivalent back.

I posted this in the normal Q & A, didn't get many answers so I wanted to get more specific.
So here's my issue: I have an HTC Sensation 4g (brilliant phone) which is rooted, and custom rom'd with CyanogenMod 9, the Nightly build. I have the latest version installed, and I love everything about it. I have one small issue though. I really miss the old camera from the Sense Rom. Is there any way to get the old camera back? Or is there a camera I can download that will basically replace it?
I loved taking 1080p photos with my phone, but now I feel like the quality and size of the pictures I take have dropped when I switched to ICS CM9. I read up on some mods to get the old camera back but they claim you need Sense installed on your phone. (Which I believe is a memory waster) I got rid of it to move on, but I wish I brought the camera with me.
Any suggestions?
The way sense is built, it's just all put together. You can't take one component and use it alone. You need sense to use the stock camera, no other way. If it was that easy, believe me, you would have heard about it already.
Well I thank you for the input, I've been using Camera360 as a replacement, it works really well. Only problem being it can't record video, so I need to use the stock camera for that.
Would you know of an app that had the "Full screen" style camera that records video + takes pictures? That's all I'm really looking for.

Unfortunately, there aren't any "camcorder" apps in the market. Only camera apps. That takes still pictures with effects and stuff. All you can use is the camcorder that comes with the ROM you're using.

blackwing182 has an aosp based miui rom in the dev section that you may be able to extract a working camera from. I'm not saying it will work, but it may be worth a shot...
uCam is a great camera app and has all the functionality you need. It's free too
Yes! This is what I am looking for! UCam is THE camera app for me! Thanks!
Also give lgcamera a try from the market. Camcorder app is pretty good in it. You can get real aac 128 44khz audio out of it. In my opinion I use that for my camcorder app even on Sense rooms just because the audio doesn't get clipped like the Sense camcorder does.

sadly, no. there is a Camera apk to flash to have the same resolution photos as Sense, but the UI will still be the same. I included it in a different thread if you would like to give it a shot(not my work tho)
or you could try out Virtuous Inquisition. Its basically a Sense rom, de-Sensed, with AOSP added throughout. but it does keep some functions like the camera and others I forgot

Camera: CM10 vs 4.0 Sense stock

Hallo guys,
I read on the CM10 dev thread that the camera in that rom isn't as good as the 4.0 Sense stock camera. Can anybody please explain what exactly is the difference between those two camera apps in terms of picture quality, focusing, shutter, velocity and video recording? And why is it not possible to make the camera as good as it is on the stock rom?
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards,

First of all, im not a developer but ive noticed that the cm10 camera loses all the sense software like continuous shutter and shooting photos while recording. Moreover, colors seem to have better contrast and saturation with sense. Can anyone else confirm this?

I think the sense cam makes really good pictures. I use it for snapshots in holidays aswell. I don't wanna miss the good cam, That's why I hesitate to switch to CM10.

I'm no developer too, so i could be wrong.
But as far as i know, this phone has a dedicated chip called 'ImageSense' powering the camera.
So far only the Sense camera app is able to fully utilize this chip, and thus having many features which are not available on AOSP rom's camera app.
As for the AOSP roms, the devs are able to get the camera working, but not able to fully utilise the ImageSense chip.
As for porting the Sense camera app to AOSP roms, i think it is close to impossible because of some framework issue which means the sense camera app only can run on sense roms.
Please correct me if im wrong.
From what I remember reading, HTC also didn't supply the drivers to the ImageSense chip, so it couldn't be integrated into AOSP ROMs. Hence, only Sense based ROMs which already have the drivers built in can fully utilise the ImageSense chip.
