[Q] Adjust Font Size on Nexus 4G - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've searched threads, and across Google and most all point to the same result. I'm trying to shrink the font size on Gingerbread. I switched back from ICS due to the battery issues I was having and ICS let me adjust font size without problems.
Modifying the density with the root programs made my market screw up and throw me the error " This app is incompatible with your device". Changing density back fixed the issue. Is there another setting I can add to build.prop that can adjust font size? Has anyone had any luck changing font size without changing screen density?

Spare parts will let you change font size.

Thanks, The pro version or regular? Regular only seems to work on the spare parts screen and nothing else. I remember that app working for me when I had my epic, strange.

Not sure really. I only have used the one included with roms which I'd assume is not the pro version. Did you reboot after changing it? I haven't changed it in a while because I found the default font size was good enough for me. If that isn't working I'm not sure if there's any other app. Perhaps you could use rom toolbox to change fonts and get something closer to what you desire.

[APP] Screen Density Changer

So I recently got the LCD density changing aapplication from the market and love it.
I have always been a fan of larger screens but the hardware on the Nexus 1 (led scroll ball and light) keeps me grounded.
Anyway after using the app and moving it down to 220, I'm getting the same resolution overall as I did with the Atrix and love it.
Although the screen size isn't as big, I'm seeing more information than I do with my Captivate that has the same 480 by 800 resolution and a larger, 4 inch screen.
Just sharing my thoughts.

any problem with some apps or games? I used it before and some apps and games won't show up in full screen no more so i switch back to default and uninstall the app.
I've been using this app for some time now and I have no problems with apps so far.
I don't have any problems with applications; I don't play games on this phone so I can't comment on that though.

Never heard of this until just now. VERY VERY awesome.
What are the "optimal" settings you guys are using? I set mine to 220 and I did notice a difference (especially my home screen).
Sounds intersting! Any noticable impact on battery or memory?
You can definitely notice a difference, it kinda reminds me of the HD Sense roms. It also fixed some issues I was having with LauncherPro & some widgets when in portrait.

I'm searching in the Market for this app and the only one that I can come up with is "LCD Density Changer" by Beansoft. Is this the app that everyone is using? $1.04?

I use the one that has an icon of a LCD with two arrows coming out of it, has the same name but I don't remember if I spent money on it.
Same as the one you're talking about I think, has the same name.

Ya it's too bad it's not the same application anymore. This application doesn't have 2 arrows coming out of the LCD icon. In addition, the screen density resets itself back after every reboot.

Yea I don't like resetting it, however I never voluntarily turn the phone off and when I do have to reset, it only takes 20 or so seconds.

I'm using this app till one month now without any problem on my DHD with CM7.
I play Angry birds, dillo hills, Go Launcher ...
It's exact name is "LCDDensity for Root" made by Elviss Kustans.
Set LCD density on boot?
Hi guys,
Do you know if there's a way to set the LCD density 'permanently' so that you don't have to reset it everytime you reboot?
Thanks in advance!
You can set it permanently by editing the build.pro. Change the ro.sf.lcd_desity line to whatever you like.
I recommend 180 for N1s

If you want to make your density setting your system default, just go into the setting. If you edit the build.prop, then you'll have to do that every time you flash a new rom. I'm sure most of us flash junkie's use titanium back, so that way when you restore your apps that setting will be saved also.

So, umm, sorry to inform you, but the "save as system default" setting writes to the build.prop

LCD density

What LCD density are you all using? I just switched from default (240) to 200 and it's fantastic.
Loving this screen.
190 is a little better
How do you change the density?

Use root explorer to edit your build.prop file under /system.
Back it up first!
Unfortunately swiftkey beta doesn't work with changed density! Dang it.
You can also use LCDDensity from the market, its free but still requires root.
I already have problems with text readability on some sites, wouldn't this make it worse?
IMO 200 is the sweet spot. At the default density, Samsung's text sharpening looks a bit harsh.. You clearly see a 'halo' around letters, and it's not too visually pleasant.
I also changed the font to Ubuntu Regular, looks better than the default to me.
I tried 200 and it looked ok but the uneven icon spacing and widget size was quite unappealing. Is there a way to fix that?
maybe a diff launcher which can add more rows and columns on the home screens and allow widgets to be resized.
I tried LCD Density from the market, and it changed it..Looked great, however, on second reboot it reverts back to stock.
WTF?

If you read the instructions when you run the app, it states that changes will not save through a reboot. So either edit your build.prop manually, or buy LCD Density Changer from Beansoft.
200 dpi looks great for me. Using ADW Launcher EX, 5x5 icon grid, icon size set to 130.

When I search on "fontomizer" I get 2 results. "Font for Galaxy SP" and "Font for Galaxy". Does it matter which one or are they both compatible?
edit: tried the galaxy sp one and it worked fine.

I noticed that everything seems to scale properly, except for dialer. It's now taking up only part of the screen and doesn't resize. I also got thin black lines going through tab buttons at the top.
Any solution to this?

Sorry if this comes out sounding wrong, but why do you need to change your LCD Density. If you know "WHY" you need to change it. You should already know how. This process is not for people that do not know what they are doing and should not be done unless you have a good amount of experience doing so, as messing with the file settings could brick your device, or send you into a boot loop. Hope for the boot loop. But i won't be responsible for telling the masses how to do it. If you really think you need to do it. Answer the question of WHY, and i'll message you. or you can google the process.

Once you do adjust your settings, you will find that your phone keypad layouts are not adjusted to fit your new screen size
This is my question to older members
How do you fix the phone keypad layout and other screens that dont fit?

The apk has to be decompiled, scaled and recompiled to fix the resolution change. Once again, this is why you don't just change the screen resolution because someone said it could be done. We usually change it for a specific reason.
Humble 1.3 comes with a LCD density change and I don't notice any issues with layouts.

Hey guys. Thanks for all the info. I am running the latest humble froyo and lcd was set at 200 which affected the dialer screen and such. That's the only reason i switched it back to a density of 240. Thanks for the help.

LCD Density Change

Coming from the epic touch forum. Switched to skyrocket yesterday. How many people adjust there screen density to a lower amount to make stuff smaller more like the galaxy nexus screens. Currently im at 160 and think it looks good. Just curious if anyone else is dropping it?
I change mine 192. I found that to be the best for reading and using gingerbread keyboard. I've noticed Swype and the Samsung keyboard resize well at 160. what keyboard do you use?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA App
Im running Quiz's Rom that has the Ice Cream Keyboard and it seems to resize really well too.
Theres no point to changing your LCD density because if you do nothing in the market will work for you.

Actually a few density apps do it in a manner that does not affect the market.

Actually that's not true... While I don't know of any LCD density apps that don't affect the market, there is a workaround that seems to work pretty well.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21899025#post21899025
Just follow the instructions and hopefully it will work for you too... I've updated my programs and installed a few that weren't letting me before... Soo happy I don't have to reset my LCD settings everytime I want to update an app or install something new...lol
That's bs I use LCD density and I'm using 720p settings...I download any and everything no problem. Some apps won't display correctly but most do. I am using latest skyicecream rom and go launcher with all Widgets. Fixes little issues with displaying apps. Man I thought it just resized things to appear at different resolution but after trying YouTube videos like big buck bunny in HD at 720p density it is like night and day clarity...I mean you have to see to believe....download LCD density and watch big buck bunny normal then change density to 720p....go back to YouTube app and watch it again...your jaw will drop I promise....

[REQ] Is there a way to fix the mishandling of fonts by Jellybean?

Ever since the S3 left ICS, if you enable an alternate font that didn't come preinstalled on the phone, the phone cannot show it in bold. This means you cannot see what threads have been read in forums(or read them very easily) because new/unread threads show up in bold. It also effects various other areas where bold font is needed. I've been hoping the updates would fix it, but no. Can anyone figure out what changed with regards to handling fonts between ICS and Jellybean and cone up with a fix?

I'm not sure what you mean, here's a screenshot with "Hattori Hanzo" - some flipfont I downloaded from a random .zip full of flip fonts. The bold isn't very intense, but it's clear which threads I've checked.
Here's what I mean, one screen shot has default font and other has a flip font I used on ICS:

does the font package you are using have a bold version of it?
