I usually always change the density because of the font being too huge by default, but I recently found an app called Big Font in the market.
Try it out. It's awesome and no longer do I have to keep changing the LCD back just to download certain apps from the market.
Just thought I'd share with people .

As do I but I hate when I would have to change density to download apps in the market.
This is a very viable substitute for me that I'll probably always use from now on.
It also has a feature to exclude certain apps from having their font changed which is very useful.
I just edit my build.prop and than replace the default market with the modified market with the default dpi hardcoded into it. The market will think the screen size is default no matter what size you change it to. I just use root explorer.

With spare parts it's only the menu that changes, or it temporarily changes the system just for that reboot.

Yet another way would be...
...there is a free program on the market called Nitrality and it can be used to change the dpi [screen res] phone wide. This would do what you want, but I'm not sure you're wanna change your screen res...also, you need to have root...good luck!...
WORKING EXCELLENT with G2X Gingerbread leak update.zip, you will be in love !!!! NO MORE BAGS at all !!!
I was very surprised ! When I saw that LG G2x working EXCELLENT with density "190" with out ANY COSMETIC problem !!!!
Example: My nexus S of cause working too with "190 Density" BUT I got a lot of problem ! BECAUSE "ROM" not intended" to work with higher resolution !!!!!!!... EXAMPLE I got bad LOCK SCREEN, some widgets sucks...etc.
but I remembered first review about LG Optimus 2x, It said that the phone has higher resolution, plus I saw the photo.)
So lets START !
U need Root Explorer !
1) open root explorer.
2) go to system
3) open "Build.prop" (long press on it>open in text Editor)
4) almost at the bottom u will SEE this: ro.sf.lcd_density=240
5) Change 240 on 190
6) Close and save.
7) Fix permissions. (better do it in "rom manager")
8) Restart your phone.
(If you will find any bag, u can easy return everything back, I found only 1 ! On Latitude Icons funny lol!.....)
Unfortunately you can not see all the "buzz" from Screen shots:

Looks weird. What are the advantages? Just that you can see more entries in a scrollable list like Gmail, settings, etc? Does the keyboard get smaller? Smaller keyboard is a no-go for me. I have big fingers.

Yup. Just makes everything smaller so you can view more on the screen at one time than you can by default.
Thanks for thread was curious how to do this outside of using the root tools app. Ended up with a density of 190, its all compact and tiny but the clock text is still visible.

Be aware some apps will no longer render full screen after changing this setting, you'll have to decide what you're willing to deal with if it happens or ask the dev of the app to do whatever it is with their app so it works with other random density.

no, you need to uncheck the compatibilty check box, and then reboot. that will make 95% of apps render correctly on the lower DPI.

I've tried with spare parts but it dosent work, when I change font size from regular to large it changes back to regular automatically.
Anyone know why this is happening? Or is there any other apps? I really hate the original font size.

Im using spareparts plus. And it works decent. Yes it will revert on reboot. But I just open the app back up and just choose large for the font and then back out of the app. Sense will take about 3 to 5 seconds to adjust. Afterwards the font will be large. Also I turn off the auto rotation in display settings because if you rotate the phone while spareparts plus is activated it will revert back to stock. But I keep a short cut to spareparts plus and display settings on my home screen to make it a little easier. You can find the app on the android market "spareparts plus" Also it has no ads and is a decent work around until root. Well hope this helps.

Bloat Freezer - be careful what you freeze, if you freeze an application that is running you will have to restart your phone up, but otherwise a great app for freezing apps you don't need

That's great to here, because I am in the process of trading my Galaxy S II for an Atrix 2. I missed Motorola too much. I was hoping there was an app to remove the carrier label from the status bar.
I could be wrong, but I don't see anything in Rom Toolbox to get rid of the AT&T wording in the status bar. But what you can do, is change all of the graphic icons (like battery, signal, wifi, just to name a few). Sometimes I would choose a rom just based on these small details! Lol. Now, I can get past that and actually choose a rom based on performance!

Thanks for clarifying. There is another app called carrier name that may do it, I assumed Rom Toolbox would do it also. If not I will do it the fun way
Has anyone running lfaber06's ROM attempted to change their CPU values with ROM Toolbox yet? I'm running his ROM/Theme with no issues as of yet. I just changed my SD Boost Value to 2048kb from 1024kb via ROM Toobox (Pro Version) and thus far, no issues as of yet... Anyone else toyed around with this app? If so what have they experimented with? I saw in an earlier post someone changed fonts and notification icons, etc. Anything else? Such as kernal tweaks, etc?
The goal is to be able to change small things in some apps.
For example, there is an app called SnapChat which allows you to send a picture for 3 seconds and then closes the picture. In this scenario, I would like to be able to edit the .apk file to allow to stay for 4 seconds. Would this kind of this be possible?
How so?

You can change alot of things in apps just by playing around with them. Using Apktool or another decompiling tool, you can change alot in the res/values folders Theres alot of stuff you can play around with in the various xml files

use 7zip on your computer to swap out png's. change app's name from whatever.apk to whatever.zip then move it to your computer using 7zip open the archive. don't extract or unzip. navigate to res folder and open it. find the png files you want to change and insert your png files you want. make sure they are the correct size, in the correct format (png) and are named correctly. exactly as they are in the zip file. then close the zip transfer it back to your phone and rename back to whatever.apk i do suggest doing some more research before doing this. there are a lot of threads dedicated just for this. use the search engine at the top of the page. XDA provides it for this exact reason.
