so after combing through the forums and removing drivers and readding them, even tried using different version of kies and different version of the samsung drivers, and nothing.
when i plug the phone in with usb debugging on and unknown sources checked, my installation popup in windows says :
samsung mobile usb composite device - ready to use
usb mass storage device - ready to use
samsung mobile usb modem - ready to use
samsung lte usb device - ready to use
samsung lte usb card ussb device - ready to use
i should have samsung adb drivers listed there, but nothing. i can't get my phone to go into debugging mode, therefore i can't root. someone please help. do i have to do a factory reset? anyone having same issues as i am? i even tried on different computers and nothing. what am i doing wrong? when running zerg rush, it just hangs and limbos without doing anything. any help would be appreciated.

Try usb port directly on MB? Remove current drivers and let windows discover and install?

I have completely lost connection with my computer. It does not detect the phone at all during standard usb to phone connection nor does odin recognize a phone being hooked up. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help.

Try deleting the Samsung drivers on your computer and let Windows find them for you or switch usb ports or check out your Device manager and see if there are any problems in there... Assuming that you are running windows? Hope this helps...:good:
Options
1.try another computer
2. Dont use a usb hub
3.try a different usb port... stay a way from usb 3.0
4. It might be a bad usb cable
5. Uninstall the driver then reinstall them(install if youb dont have it)

Thanks for the advice guys. I tried a different cable, USB and deleting the drivers. It doesn't detect my phone at all after this.
I'm pretty sure it is an issue with my phone. I plugged my wife's s3 in and instant detection. I'm gonna call vzw and have a replacement sent.
Thanks again for the help.

Be sure debugging is off, or the drivers will not automatically download. Switch back on when you start using Odin

I've tried looking everywhere for help on the forums. I don't know why my PC won't recognize my S3. I've tried everything, I'm using the right cable, ive tried all my usb ports, I've downloaded the samsung drivers, reinstalled numerous times. My pc itself isn't showing the phone in the device manager nor is my phone recognizing that it is plugged into the pc except for showing a charge. Idk what else to try...any help is appreciated. Thanks

Are you referring on how to connect S3 to a PC so that you can Odin the phone?
If so, you have to install Android SDK on your PC first. Here's a link. Do a YouTube search as well....there are how-to videos that will walk you thru it.

What operating system are you using? Have you tried disabling any internet/virus/malware protection software temporarily? This may help alleviate your issue. If on Windows, do you hear an audible sound when you connect/disconnect your phone to the PC? Also, try different USB ports if you haven't already. Windows is a fickle beast sometimes
I have a GS3 Verizon model and i cant seem to get any computer to recognize my phone when i plug it in through USB. I have installed the drivers and the ToolKit. What gives? I figured i might post on here to see if its just the phone or i am missing some steps needed to complete the process. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
CaribouLou
Did you enable usb debug in development options and unknown sources in security option?

Hi, I have a Samsung Galaxy S 4G from Wind. I was following this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1956025 , trying to root my phone from my desktop. All went well until when I went to flash and it would have a error like this: ERROR: Failed to access device. libusb error: -12
So I went to my laptop and decided to root it from there, but it wouldent even detect the phone saying: Failed to detect compatible download-mode device. What is the problem?
I tried fixing the drivers in the tutorial here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21953878&postcount=2 but it never installed any drivers. When I do to Zadig SAMSUNG USB Composite Device never appears. This is true for both computers. When I connect to download mode it says device not recognized.
Read the stickies the Android Development section. Try to use a different USB port, but first you need to put your phone in download mode for it able to detect.

I tired different port and it is in download mode.
Does your computer able to detect it normally as a storage device? Sometimes it's the cable. If not reinstall the Samsung drivers found in xda forums. Search for it.

Thanks for trying to help, I did some digging around and found out that when I went to install the Heimdall drivers, SAMSUNG USB Composite Device was actually Gadget Serial. Everything worked out fine.
