[Q] some gapps missing in AOKP - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just installed AOKP on my transformer. I have flashed the gapps zip twice and still have not been able to get the you tube app. I tried to download it from the market but it says device incompatible. Any ideas?

Running this YT app on AOKP ROM

I have also noticed a lot of market apps are now incompatible. Any ideas why? Everything seemed to work fine on stock ics.

You can flash EOS GApps, it has some apps that are missing from the regular GApps: http://goo-inside.me/roms/teameos/gapps/ (latest version 10.5).

Cm7 on Desire HD - no market!

Hi
Recently flashed cm7.0.3 on my DHD after the usual nandroid backup etc. Had to wipe data and cache first. After the cm flash I flashed the latest gapps.
The phone boots fine but with no Android market and no Google apps. I understand that the gapps process has changed so I must be doing something wrong, but what??
Thanks!
George

Did you use Rom Manager or did you flash from Recovery? May be worth trying whichever method you didn't the first time around.
You need to download the GAPPS file located most likely in the same thread you downloaded the CM7 files. You will have to use CWM to flash the GAPPS file and once done you will have the market once the phone boots back up.
I ran in to the same issue when I installed CM7 on my Captivate and once I found the GAPPS file I was golden!
Aha! Got ya. I've been trying to flash gapps from recovery - I take it that doesn't work then? Haven't used CWM for *ages* but am sure I can guess my way thru it.
Thanks!
gapps have to be flashed from recovery. yes. try rom manager in your phone. it makes the process a lot easier. press Download Rom - CM - and choose the latest stable. it will then ask you abt gapps, just check that box and you are set
Sorted
Thanks for the tips, got it working in the end. There were a couple of problems stopping me flashing GAPPS:
- Clockwork mod was an old version - had to try a couple of times to upgrade it, kept failing, worked after complete wipe and reflash of CM7
- I had been trying to install GAPPS from recovery. Tried from CWM after the upgrade and it worked fine.
Cheers for the help.

[Q] Galaxy S3 Rooted Playstore problem!! HELP

Yes, I'm a noob to this and somehow can never get things right. I like to flash different roms and see how I like them but only one ROM that I've flashed has came with Google Playstore loaded on it, enabling me to restore all my apps and download Titanium to restore the apps I backed up.
CERTAIN ROMS I FLASH ONLY HAVE THE STOCK APPS AND DOESN'T HAVE GOOGLE PLAYSTORE! HOW CAN I GET GOOGLE PLAYSTORE BACK ONTO THE DEVICE AFTER I FLASH THESE ROMS. For example, the Liquid JB-v2. Rom for ATT and most of the CM10 roms dont come with the playstore on it.
The only one that has is the MIUI rom and I'm stuck using it. I like to change it up a bit. Please help
Find and flash the Google Apps zip (also known as GApps) for your android version (example ICS, GB etc) Click here.....

Usually if you flash a rom that requires you to flash the GApps as well the OP for that rom should have install instructions which tell you if you need to or not and may have a link to download them as well.

Safe to Use Default CWM in EOS Wingray to Flash Newest Nightly?

So I flashed the 3-27 nightly of Team EOS's Wingray 4.2, but I wanted to get into the swing of flashing the latest Nightly builds ASAP. However, I came across this in that thread:
Use latest TWRP or cwm or you'll be in trouble.
I found the links for the latest CWM and TWRP. In the latter link's OP it says this:

*NOTE THAT YOU SHOULD ALWAYS USE THE MOST UP TO DATE RECOVERY, IF YOU ARE PLANING ON FLASHING A 4.2 BASED ROM YOU SHOULD UPDATE TO THE LATEST BEFORE FLASHING ROM.*

As I did not flash either of these zips when I flashed the nightly I am now curious what is the recommended method for flashing the latest Nightly. Can I not simply download the latest market version of ROM Manager and reboot into recovery with that? At the Play Market ROM Manager lists as a version update in the "What's New" section:
ROM Manager said:
5.5.2.3 Delta download bug fixes.
5.5.2.2 Revamp comments service. All users can comment and rate.
5.5.2.1 Can now view all backups, internal and external, in the restore/manage list
5.5.2.0 ROM Manager now support TWRP
5.5.1.8 Delta downloads
5.5.1.8 Fix crash
5.5.1.4 External SD card support is fixed on devices running Android 4.0+ and CWM 6+.
5.5.0.8 Download Backups to your PC using the new ROM Manager Backup Download Server feature!

Everything looks kosher, but I wanted to double check.
Well, there I go again. First, I'm actually on CM10.1's official Wingray Nightly (3-27-2013) right now, not the EOS build; second, as I enabled the Developer options and was fuddling around in them I saw the "Advanced Reboot" checkbox. Now I'm less confused because I was under the impression that all of these AOSP builds came with their own built-in recovery bootmenu options.

The easiest recovery for me is the TWRP one. I also have the CW one but changed when it had some problems. The recoveries are independent from the ROM. The Play Store has Goo Manager. If you install it and go to the settings (three vertical dots at the top right) then select InstallOpenRecoveryScript, it will install the latest version of TWRP (2.5.0.0 currently). The Goo Manager also has a button to reboot to recovery. I suggest you first read their thread thoroughly so you are comfortable with the process. It is in the Developers thread.

You've tried booting into recovery and re-flashing gapps?

[Q] Help, can't install any rom (fully)

Won't bore you with all the details...
Was unhappy on TWRP 2.5 with Chromi 4.6.7
I knew that you had to install CWM to go to Cyanogenmod, but I couldn't get clockworkmod to let me change the recovery option even after I downloaded a compatible tf700 .img file.
So I got fearless (read stupid) and just used TWRP to install Cyanogenmod.
It worked, but not completely, I have no Play Store, many apps missing. Browser is working, wifi is up, but it never asks me for my google account, and I can't finish installing apps (in particular I wan't to install RomManager so I can try to get CWM installed).
Going back to Stock or Chromi doesn't seem to work. It says "Successful" but it won't boot, I get to an animation which just spins eternally.

Well, it's probably the details that will matter... as in: which steps you exactly took to get into this mess...
ASFAIK TWRP is totally fine with CM roms, but did you do a clean install, a full wipe when going from CromiX to CM and then again back?
Also, it sounds as if you did not flash the GAPPS package after you flashed the CM rom.
I would suggest you flash back to CM, flash the GAPPS package and see if you can boot.
Good luck....

Having no Play Store does signal to me you might have forgotten to flash the GAPPS package.

You're both right. Got help from moderator on CM forum and got everything working.
Thank you.
