How to remove a dodgy app from Market purchased apps? - General Questions and Answers

Hi guys, this is an unusual and embarrassing one, so I hope.
Back in a day I installed a dodgy app (not from Market, duh) not knowing about it.
I want to upgrade/purchase that app as it is on the Market now, but there is no way of doing it. When I try to update, it states something along the lines of: "You have not purchased ..." message, but it is visible as "Installed".
I can not delete that app from my history of apps associated with my account
and there is no way of actually purchasing it.
What to do?
Contact app developer, or Google Play team or is there a way of doing it in some other way.
Thanks!

Google Play App history

What do you think of Google Play's App history? There's no way of removing your app history, it logs every app you have ever installed.
At the moment, there are two tabs in the "My Apps" menu. One is "Installed" and the other one is "All". It seems like finding the apps you have previously bought (but not installed yet) isn't that easy anymore, either you use search or try to find them in the huge "All" list.
Just stupid.
Do I have to create another Google Account or what? Why can't Google allow us to remove our app history?
edit: Report the issue here to get Google's attention: http://support.google.com/googleplay/bin/static.py?hl=en&page=known_issues.cs&ki_topic=1319135
I agree. That sucks about the new Play Store. I was happy with the way it was before showing only installed and purchased apps. Most apps I've uninstalled because I didn't need them or they didn't work well, so why would I care about still having them in my apps list? Pretty ridiculous. I found it to be pointless in the Web Store itself, but now it's just a pain scrolling through that list of unnecessary apps on my phone trying to find one I actually need. Not to mention everytime you tap on an app and go back to the list, it jumps to the top and I have to scroll all the way again. There should be an option to purge/remove apps that you don't want in the history list.

Google should keep a list of their horrible ideas instead.

Maybe if enough of us complain, they'll change it
Watching this app history on my google play account on the pc I was wondering why there are apps listed I used a very long time before.
Well, google needs the history for stats but why saving it for so long?
I am strained when the first apps will remove from the history.

I find this very annoying as well.
There is no need to keep a list of our previously installed apps.
Some apps i just install just to see what it is and have no interest in it after a while.
If this continues then i will probably have the a whole list of apps in the google play store in my history.
yes it's really boring, i just changed my cellphone and i have all all all the history from 2y of download it's hard to filter the one that i wanna keep and the others...
Anoying you cant choose to remove apps
I complained to Google about this the day 3.5.15 was released. I also started a Google code entry on this just now. Would be great if all that are concerned would head over there and star it!

Good idea!! I really hate this "memory".
I agree, I have starred and commented the google code page.
I remember reading somewhere that this app history might affect play store download counts and that's why Google haven't changed it. I sure hope the do something about it though!
I was searching for a way to "fix" or filter my ALL list and see that im not alone, uber retarded "feature".
/sigh
oh well i starred & commented on the issue, thanks.

We can "Report this" on Deleting apps from My Apps/My Orders in Know issues
The more people who do, most will be taken into account
The more we push, the more they'll hear
Took a while for them to allow you to delete credit cards from your account, but maybe they'll get around to fixing this eventually.

The very new Google Play is a joke by its name. It's not you using Google to play, but Google plays with us. Starting with restricted countries to use its services and its "we-add-search-use-it-and-be-thankful" search and ending with such in-account irritating stuffs like the above mentioned.
So: Play with Google but remember it's Google who plays with you.
I don't think all your reports are able to change anything. They need it for some purposes, I don't think it's just their mistake or lack of foresight.
I wish there was some way to filter through it, or make groupings of applications.

vvm permissions? at&t

there's an update ive avoided so far but play seems to have no shutup button. I was weary to update because the apps new permissions included view running apps. I see no reason for this and think its an unneeded invasion. anyone see it as a valid perm? so i guess i need a recommendation for another app is there something better?
If you're rooted, just get permissions denied free from the play store and enable disable which ever of the permissions you want.
Now for some of the permission, they want you to pay for the full app, but if privacy is a concern for you, well worth it.

Permissions Denied is def the way to go with that problem. But if you have being bothered by the Play store about updates, get Titanium Backup and you can use it to sever the market link between the app and your account so you don't get bombarded by update notices.
I suggest LBE for your privacy concerns.
As far as VM, I use Google Voice and have my voicemail number for my GoogleVoice setup in my phone. Now, I have separate greetings for many of my contacts and contact groups... In-line voicemails in my call log, etc.... its WONDERFUL! VMM sucks ****!

Anyone successfully set up a multi-user system?

II'd like to be able to share my tablet between two people with two completely separate accounts. I thought I heard something about an app that can reboot the tablet into a separate account (separate Gmail, etc) so you can share the tablet with other people. I can't find this app and I'm not even sure it's real. Does anyone know about this? Any info would be helpful.
Thanks for your help!
the app is called "SwitchMe", i'm using the pro version and it works very well, although i rather keep my tablet and not share it so lately i don't use the app much

Thanks! That's really helpful! One other question... Do you get access to all your apps on both sides or do you have to repurchase duplicates?

I believe the apps are tied to the google account used to access Google Play Store. So, unless each user is using the same Google account the apps won't be available on both sides.

Maps wants to access what?

So i have a pending update for Maps for my android. Why is it pending? because it wants new permissions. It wants permission to access my contacts. Why does it need to access my contacts all of the sudden?
Also, Another app, a white noise generator wanted the same permission. I have removed that app cause i saw no need for it to access that information.
(also, why is there a checkbox for "Is this a question" if the forum is going to ***** at me for it not being a Q&A forum?)
I believe its because it wants to mix the Latitude app, the Navigation and the Maps all in one. That and I think Google wants to make people use Google Plus as well.

I've found that now ALL google apps want access to contact information. I am not updating any of them because i dont see why it needs legitimate access to that personal information.

Mmm keep your software outdated certainly will not help you to have a secure system, google probably already has all your contacts (sync,mail,etc..) I don't think he would need to steal them.
Rather, you should ask if there is a method to deny these permissions without unistalling the app, considering that the smartphone is your, like the contacts...

[Q] Popup from Google asking to protect my phone?

I just got a popup, supposedly from Google, asking for permission to protect my phone in some way. I should have taken a screen shot. My back button would not work, and I had to choose between "accept" or "deny". I chose deny, and immediately an app started to automatically download and install. The popup came up again four more time, and I chose deny each time. And each time, a new app downloaded and installed. In order, the apps were S Note, SNS Provider, Flipboard Briefing, Hancom Office 2014, and Evernote. Shortly after that, I got a text message from 6583 stating: "FREE MSG Your Mobile Locate app is configured to record your Location History; info may be viewed at http://mymobilelocate.com Open app Settings to change."
What the hell just happened to my phone?
wel.. the site leads to at&t and the apps you installed are official apps (the names atleast). As far as I can tell you are just fine, wonder what the popups looked like though.
It's no big deal. A while back, Google started offering to periodically search your phone's installed apps to make sure there were no malicious apps you might not know are bad news. This started after they had a few apps in the Play Store that were malware, and Google went and forceably uninstalled those apps from people's devices. Since some people probably complained about it as some sort of privacy violation, now they offer you a choice (i.e. be stupid, or let them save your ass from malware). I always click "accept". It only asks once per set up, so either on a brand new phone or a factory reset.
Google already knows everything I do with my device(s) anyway, so why wouldn't I want them to monitor my apps for Malware? It is especially helpful if you install apps from other sources outside the Play Store, since you never know what you're really getting.
