Phone number - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How do I find my mobile phone number. Is it stored in " settings?"

Settings > about tablet > status > MDN is your number.

Great, thanks.

When I view the status > MDN it says "Unknown". All the other information like Service status and Mobile Network state are showing connected and In Service.
3G and Wifi work for browsing. But when I would like to play games or use other apps that requires internet access, 3G won't work. Wifi still works like a charm.
Is there any way I can fix this?
Thanks.
I have Xoom TeamEOS CornerStone Nightly.

Wifi connected but still uses Edge

when i am at home i would like to use my wifi connection but it appears that it still tries to use edge. how do i configure my connections so that it uses wifi if connected?
thanks
Hey,
have you properly set up ur wifi connection on ur device including any password protection and security (WEP/WPA etc).
Also and this might seem daft, but is ur wifi connection on router properly working or have you set up any access restrictions on router?
its not a question on whether the wifi connection actually works but edge overriding it.
but... yes i did all of the necessary steps to add my device (wep password, mac address added etc...)
if i turn the phone off the wifi works just fine.
thanks for the reply.
Hy,
you have to set the networks (Internet and Private Network) to "My Work Network".
Does this not work you have to make a rom update.
Greatz
mccoffein
You will find it at Settings -> Connections -> Connections -> Avanced -> Select Networks
that just makes everything not work
Which rom version do you have? Which device do you have? Which Provider Label do you have?
its all in my sig
I find that if I want to switch from cellular data to WiFi, I have to hit the Data button in the Comm Manager, then hit the WiFi button. Otherwise, it doesn't seem to switch. If I just turn on WiFi, it connects, but never know which one is going to be used.
Go to:
Touch "Start > Settings > Connections > Connections > Advanced > Network Selection.
Set both settings to "Office Network"
If this does not work then install a small file called "No data" or "Modaco No data"

no data works by removing a registry key for your connection settings..... so it will also disable your picture messaging and/or email if you use it. (just a heads up)

[Q] Messaging center number change. how ?

Been using Raphael for nearly two years on vodafone, no problems. It was a contract phone. Unlocked out of the box, flashed spl and elite rc3 the next day. also no problems whatsoever.
Now, bought another phone and let my missus have Raph. All is good and well but for the life of me i cant figure out how to add a messaging center number, since the phone cannot SEND texts. Fine with receiving though.
Whats tried:
1. Settings > Personal > Phone > Services > VMail and Text Messages > Get settings.
Result - Reading from network and then network error, reading "Cannot read settings from the network. Try viewing settings later or disconnect data connection and try again." Data connection is on, but it can be more of the same - settings are wrong for data connection. Also tried to use my wifi as data - no dice.
2. Settings > Connections > Advanced Network > SMS Setvice > set to GSM (Originally "GSM Preferred").
Other sources indicate that its HERE that should be messahing center number filled in, but there are no fillable fields apart from pulldown to change "SMS Over", options are GSM, GSM Preferred, GPRS, GPRS Preferred. And thats it...
The card i try to run is O2 Pay-Go.
I'm out of ideas. Help...
#UPDATE# Sorted !!!

Google for what they should be for your carrier and input them. Or find a friend on the same network and copy their settings. Or telephone your network provider and ask them.

[Q] APN settings in Android 5 gone?

I am running Android 5.0.1 on my Nexus 5 and my carrier is Sprint. I need to change my APN settings, but I can't seem to find them. All the posts I find say to go to, " Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names", but those are instructions for previous versions of Android. I have not been able to find the location in Android 5. Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm Running Android 5.0.1 too and my access point settings are under Settings > More > Mobile networks > Access point names? How far are you able to get by following those instructions?

I don't have the mobile networks option.
I've attached a picture of my "more" option.

Go in to the "secret dialer" menu. Open your dialer and type *#*#46363#*#*, go to "Phone Information", and scroll down. There'll be a menu labled "Set preferred network type". Your phone is CDMA and mine is GSM, so the options might be different than what I see. Just choose the one with the most options (with LTE of course). Wait several moments and see if you've got a data connection.
EDIT: I just noticed in your pictures that you're connected to WiFi. Maybe the APN settings don't show up unless you're connected through cellular data? They show up on mine when connected to WiFi, but one phone is a Samsung running 4.2.2, and the other is a Nexus 4 running a custom 4.4.4 ROM, so that could be different from stock Lollipop.
Dumb question perhaps, but are you sure you didn't accidentally toggle your data off?

*#*#46363#*#* didn't work for me. When I finished typing it, the number just disappeared.

Update profile and update PRL. Neither of these options actually work.

Hmm, that seems strange, would it be possible for you to change ROM to a custom, and then see if you could access network settings? If not then maybe try a simple factory reset?

I'll give it a shot. It'll have to be later tonight or tomorrow though. I'll post the results then.

Android x86_64 version 9 Mobile Network Settings Missing

In settings > network & internet, the mobile network option is missing. It looks like I may be missing an app?
I have a working USB modem that is connected, with a correct APN and good signal, yet am showing a "No service" in the status bar. My hunch is it has something to do with the missing mobile network option. Any help appreciated.
