Spirit FM now works on ICS - HTC Desire S

have tested Spirit FM on IceColdSandwich ROM and its working fine.
just set the audio method to 'qdsp5v2 plus/ICS' in spirit FM settings.
some minor bugs were observed - like the radio went mute when some particular system notification came in, but it was fine after an app restart. The signal and sound clarity was as good (if not better) as running on CM7.
enjoy. loads of respect to the Spirit FM dev!

FM Radio app
Hi
Try this FM-app, it worked well for me. I've got a Lenovo S6000H with JellyBean stock ROM running.
You've got to reboot after install and then You may've got a fine FM Radio with RDS and a recording function... What more to want? Oh, yes -a thanks won't hurt if the app does it's job and I'm happy, too.
Enjoy!

Oh, I didn't see this thread became zombie...
OH NO, I DIDN'T MEAN TO.... (ARGHH *head burst*brain splatter*)

Make your Phone volume Louder

this is for the people who want to fix volume level. this work with any gingerbread base rom. its working good for me.
Is this the same thing as this? I'm wary of just installing some random file without much information.

You shouldn't need this. If your sig is correct and you still have CM7 use the DSPManager app. It can boost volume for speaker and through headset. I set all my eq. settings to 6.1 and it is loud and not distorted at all.

I'm on CM7 and this works beautifully (I've only tried it for external speaker) on setting 6+. Loud as hell with no distortion!
Volume+ is definitely a trusted app from an awesome developer "Meltus". He's the same one that released the app "Louder volume hack" ages ago. I've used his volume apps since back on my MT3G .
His free app is here if you guys want to read up on it first.
Thank you. Works great on RCMix HD v5.9.7.

What kernel are you using? I'm using this app with Lordmod 4.2 CFS -25mv undervolt, no problems reported here.
I personally notice distortion once I get to about +3 or +4 on my device. I keep it set to +2 and everything sounds great. It even seems to save the settings and re-apply on boot, great stuff!

[Q] Equalizer not working on ICS Roms?

Been using ics roms for a while now. I just notice that the app I have been using called equalizer is not working with my HTC music. The setting that I have made on it will not take effect. Is this a known issue and how can I fix it?
Thanks
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA App
Hi looks like we have the same problem i upgrade to ICS and found out that Equalizer is not yet compatible with ICS, though I really like it coz it produce good quality on the music player combined with the Beats. Gotta wait for that officially from developer. So there's nothing we can do for now

And yes, sadly, Equalizer is currently not compatible with ICS ROMs. But don't you fret, it should be compatible soon!

[Q] Is there FM Radio app for AOKP rom?

I flashed [ROM][4.0.4]GalaxySL[AOKP]Build37-rebuild[30/05/12] but there's no FM radio apk built in it. So now I'm looking for one. Can anyone help?
BTW,the battery life is good.Look at the picture.
There isn't, but you can try spirit FM and experiment with the settings and see which one works. It may or may not work, I haven't tried though.
Cheers

I tried spirit FM and it does work. But two problems.
1st, it cannot auto search channels like FM in 2.3.6 roms.
2nd, it cannot output sound to speaker but always to headset.
Thank you all the same.

FM Radio

How would I install an FM Radio (on-air using the built in radio tuner of HTC sensation) to senseless ROM? the HTCFmradio.apk force closes when installed/flashed.. thanks!
Just download Spirit FM from the play store. Haven't tested it myself yet, but I've been told it works. Don't think there is a free alternative to this app...

This.
Spend the $2. It's well worth it if you are going to use the FM Radio at all. (It would cost you like $30 to buy a stand alone portable FM radio that fits in your pocket)
Yes.spirit fm works.i tested it in both ics and jb aosp roms.
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda app-developers app
HTC radio app works fine in HyperNonSense, flash the optional zip then just turn Bluetooth on before you start the app.
You won't get it to work on a truly senseless build at all.
Tune in radio pro also works well, but it's a streaming service.

FM Radio on stock Jelly Bean

I had FM_Radio.apk and the associated files (service and widget) on my rooted, unlocked, pre-JB phone. Updated to JB and now FM Radio finds stations, but doesn't play any sound. Deleted/added FM_Radio.apk and associated files to system/apps, reset permissions. Same thing.
Any suggestions? I searched the forums but couldn't find a definitive fix.
Im in same sitution i can get fm radio to come on but no sound ive tryed everything and no dice, there was an old thread about this but links no longer work????

I'd tell you how to likely get "the" stock HTC app working again, but that's a secret.
I wrote the "secret" in another thread here, but I'm not sure anyone believed me, LOL.

Well I could be wrong, and I'd like to get confirmation yes or no, but I suspect that a stock HTC FM Radio app from a stock JellyBean ROM for a device with a Qualcomm WCN3660 FM/combo chip.
Is there a stock JB app available on a Rogers or International OneXL or OneS ROM ?
My suspicion is because I had to create a new Audio "Sub-Method" for HTC JB. Under Debug-> HTC it's the "Intent2 (JB)" setting. ICS used an "Intent1 (ICS)" setting.
I had to de-compile a JB HTC FM app to figure out Intent2, I think from a OneX+ perhaps. (And I don't think that app would work, X+ uses a Broadcom chip.)
I can't imagine why HTC made this change, but they did. Seems like silly busy work to me; there's no added functionality; just enabling/disabling FM audio to headset or speaker.
Hmmm, I don't think I've loaded a stock JB based ROM on my ATT OneXL yet. And aren't there stock JB derived ROMs with FM ?

No.
All my time is over-subscribed and allocated to paid customers of my app, and family and life responsibilities.
And it doesn't make sense to modify an HTC app when you can just grab a more recent HTC app.

And it still doesn't work ?
If you REALLY wanted to run the HTC app, it might be possible to config the free version of Spirit to enable the audio while running simultaneously.
Somethin' like... setting the FM Chip to Emulator...

If it's consistently 30 minutes it might be some power saving mode. I've seen a few FCs recently on another phone, I'll keep an eye open for it.
As an experiment, you could try turning RDS off in the UI settings and restart Spirit.
If you have the Unlocked version, you can try the digital audio mode. Set Audio-> Method to "Digital Auto" and restart Spirit.
For what it's worth, I just use tunein radio. Probably my fave radio app. Uses a lot of bandwidth though
