this is for the people who want to fix volume level. this work with any gingerbread base rom. its working good for me.
Is this the same thing as this? I'm wary of just installing some random file without much information.

You shouldn't need this. If your sig is correct and you still have CM7 use the DSPManager app. It can boost volume for speaker and through headset. I set all my eq. settings to 6.1 and it is loud and not distorted at all.

I'm on CM7 and this works beautifully (I've only tried it for external speaker) on setting 6+. Loud as hell with no distortion!
Volume+ is definitely a trusted app from an awesome developer "Meltus". He's the same one that released the app "Louder volume hack" ages ago. I've used his volume apps since back on my MT3G .
His free app is here if you guys want to read up on it first.
Thank you. Works great on RCMix HD v5.9.7.

What kernel are you using? I'm using this app with Lordmod 4.2 CFS -25mv undervolt, no problems reported here.
I personally notice distortion once I get to about +3 or +4 on my device. I keep it set to +2 and everything sounds great. It even seems to save the settings and re-apply on boot, great stuff!

I fixed mine by exchanging for an Atrix. The sound quality and levels are very, very good.
Lol ok me too but rather not get the Atrix just for sound. I Like this phone too much and everything is working great but the sound level. Would like to keep it virgin for awhile and not root or flash yet. but of course thats not too far away.
ha ha I see what you mean. I really loved the Inspire, but the few things that bothered me about it in everyday use seem to be rectified by the Atrix. Besides, I won an Inspire at work so I'll have both

This doesn't really help. Considering I prefer the Inspire to the Atrix. I'm not a huge fan of Motorola.
I am pretty sure it is a software issue though. Games are fairly loud when I play them, and it just seem seems like alerts and ringtones are lacking.

You could always make copies of the ringtones, run them thru a MP3 editing software to boost the Db level of the source file, then put them back to the phone.

With daryken bumping this thread I just ran across it. I have been using this app for longer than this post has been up and must say I cannot do without it now.
The widget is what makes it. It really ties together my media home screen.
Just a heads up for those with CM7. It does not play well with DSP manager. I found I had to choose between the two. The choice was not hard.

I never had any good results with DSP manager when I was on CM7. This really does work, but it doesn't seem to play well with MIUI which I am currently on. Instead I tweak the volume settings of idividual songs in iTunes and then move them over to the phone wich also works. But it is a bit of a long work around....

Installs with no issues on Hellfire pheonix.
Noticed a big difference in the signal quality almost eliminated static.
I'm using Bose in ear buds, and I always preffered my old ****ty iPod touch for sound quality.... no more.
Feels like it upped the juice to my headphones now I'm getting big dirty sound and I can't even rock full volume ... WINNING!!
Great tweak defiantly worth the 2 mins it takes to flash!

Yeah! I was using my old iPhone for music until I used it as a golf ball, then I was using my 80 GB iPod classic (which I actually love) but now it's an external drive for me.

The tweak also plays nice with voodoo sound from Trinity and DSP manager, so #WINNING

If you're using Trinity kernel then voodoo is already working it's magic.
DSP manager, with compression it seems you can get louder, I don't use it though as it seems to also create some fuzziness. Bass boost does exactly what it says, and Equalizer will equal out the sound to your choice, try a few equalizers, also if you find the sound to get too loud you can check loudness compensation which will lower the volume a bit at loud parts in songs. Virtual Room makes your headset feel like a room.

Perusing in the general android section and read the last few pages of this link. Member confirmed working on stock/rooted S3. Made a nandroid and ave it a shot. Have tested with bluetooth headphones and changes are noticeable. I really like the bass boost.

Edit: got it installed with no problems on synergy r52. Just need to test it on something besides the phones speaker to see if it actually is using the equalizer or not. I don't have headphones with me.
The music does seem louder than it was before tho...
You are correct. Which is why I backed up prior to install. After installation, you can go into System-Sounds and there will be a new menu option, Music Effects. Select Awesome Beats (fyi I got a MusicFX force close for some reason).
You will now have an app named Awesome Beats. You can open that and make your adjustments for wired and wireless headphones.
I use bluetooth wireless, so I made my adjustments while listening to music.
This may be no better than an app that is on Play. I was in a modding mode, so I did it.
FYI - you will also not see the red Beats logo on the taskbar.
Installed fine, with no force closes so far. But it didn't do anything to the music.
Installed on Synergy r53 working great.

Definetly a NO to this on.
Using a active speaker at work which resets its volume to a base volume everytime you enable it.
The speaker is on par with a Galaxy Note 1 which I have just retired.
I´d even say its louder....but possibly that is because of faux kernel....try this...
You can install this kernel...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=250965
Then install FauxSound from the PlayStore, you can up the speaker gain a decent amount. It's nothing drastic, but I've got it loud enough for me now.
