ROMs and more ROMs - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I'm no stranger to rooting and flashing roms. What I am pretty new to is being a father. Best thing that has ever happened to me.
But with being a father and having full time job I now don't have the spare time I used to have. So with that said, I'm just curious if someone who has used the different roms could give me their personal opinions on which they think are better ones to flash. I just don't have the time to flash them one by one and try them out.
So..... what are your guys opinions? I can tell you from my phone flashing experiences that I like clean, optimized, speedy and a little themed look. I currently run Cyanogenmod 7.2 RC on my Tmobile Vibrant.

Do you want Cornerstone or no?
That should narrow it down a lot.

Only two ICS ROM I used extensively were the Team Eos and now AOKP.
For me both was very stable. TheĆ½'re both AOSP rom and not Asus base.

Cornerstone isn't a must for me. I know it still has its issues.
I do think id like AOSP / aokp
If the AOKP is like Romans usual builds I know I'd like it

[Q] Choosing a ROM

After owning my Skyrocket for a couple months, I'm finally ready to take the plunge and install a new ROM. I saw the how-to guide, so I should be set there, but I'm a little overwhelmed by the number of ROM's available here for the Skyrocket. It seems like Cyanogen is a popular one, but there are so many options! Would you all mind pointing me to a couple of the better ones to research further or tryout?
I'm coming from the stock Skyrocket ROM with WidgetLocker for the ICS lockscreen and have no complaints with the GUI, but then again I'm open to change since I don't know what's out there. My primary concerns are speed and reliability, however if there are new features that people find particularly valuable, I would like to hear about them. It doesn't sound like the ICS mods are stable enough yet, but if there are any ROMs in the works I should keep an eye on, I would be glad to know know about them.
Thanks for the help!
x2 I would be interested in what people have to say.
I recommend Embryo rom for reliability. It is very stable, but there's not a lot of themeing so it looks stock.
If you are after a feature-rich rom, try Sky ICS. It even has stuff from the Galaxy S3. It looks good with all the themes and add-ons available.
Embryo is a good into to ICS roms. Sky ICS is feature rich but might be a little overwhelming at first. CM9 is really good if you want an AOSP experience.
Cool, thanks for the feedback. I'll look into those. Any idea how they are for stability?
I'm having a really good experience with NexusMod. Not ICS, though.

I'm running seanzscreams latest build SKYICS 4.2E-8 (ULCE2) rom. Very fast, solid, dependable (been running it for a week so far). Has lots of customizations available. I noted approx 15-20% increase of battery life since GB.
Any of the Alien Builds are great. Especially the one for GB. But as the posts above say, SKYICS for features. If you're going to an ICS ROM, I suggest you use the one click first.

Back on nexusmod anyway... ICS is starting to remind me of Windows ME or vista. Meh... it works ok, I guess, but the last version is so much better!
ICS feels so bloated compared to GB. Even AFTER I debloat it!

If you were smart and inquisitive, you'd try them all and figure it out first hand.

Which ROM is your favorite so far?

so off the three roms out, cm9 official experimental, sgt7, and the skang rom, which one is your favorite? do any outdo the other two? im trying to find the difference between them all, as i dont want to flash each one seperatly.
Right now I'm on the experimental official cm9 and I like it better than stock. Thanks for any replies

Too early to compare at the moment, CM9 will come good but prefer the speed of Stock at the moment.

Need a rom

Alright, I need a rom that's stable, and not too sluggish. I swear I've looked at numerous different roms, I just want to know your personal opinions on what you're using. I don't need a bunch of fancy features, just a rom that works and isn't too laggy.
It all pretty much depends on your preference. I can't recommend sense roms since I'm not a big sense fan but I hear newSENSE is a good rom that has a lot of "CM like" features. Then there's strapped's roms which I hear is another fav of many people. For aosp there's some on rom manager and a few here on xda as well including cm7.2.0 Stable which cyanogenmod just released (also on rom manager).

Before there was a somewhat stable ICS rom, my go-to rom was always CM7.
It's extremely light imo.
I've tried strapped's supreme sense rom for a couple of days, it was a really great rom, just liked ics too much to stick with it.
Newsense was also a great rom, but it wasnt my taste.
As Sparksco stated, it's all a matter of preference. Strapped has one of the best analogies I've ever heard. He said something like " it's like buying sneakers, everyone's taste is different. Because we all use them differently. " The best thing to do is to try various Roms. Flash one try it for a few days, at least. See if it suits you . Also read up on the Rom before you Flash. Make sure it has the things you need it to have, or what it lacks that you can't do without.
Thanks for the replies guys, your advice really is appreciated! I'mma be sure to head off and frolic more in the awesome community that is this forum

Highly recommend newsense.
AOSP = CM 7.2 (on rom manager) SENSE = newSENSE (in the development section)

ROM battle: AOKP vs BEAM ROM

Which is best and why? Enter your experience and reviews please.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk 2
We cannot justify that the Rom x is better than the Rom y, it depends on our own taste and way of using it.. sense our ICS base ROM's are under development as of this time,
and most of all we just need to provide them some log's in every issue we encounter so that they can work on it, in that way we can have a better ICS as ROM builds progress.. what we can do is to give thanks to our great dev's who work hard to give us the ICS,
but base on my experience i never encounter any issue in AOKP, specially on the latest build
Beam hands down. Smoother faster and better battery life. I think so anyways . But both are awesome!

Blah...blah...blah
Let's see, how's that phrase go again... Oh yea...
It's all a matter of opinion, and my opinion is the only one that matters... to me...
Everyone has a favorite, for whatever reason, but their reasons may not be the next persons. Personally, haven't tried Beam, and no offense to whoever the dev is for it, but I don't plan to. I'm happy with AOKP, and I'll keep updating it (in fact I need to download the latest) but other than that, i'm done messing with this phone...

I was going to do something like this thread but for MIUI vs cMIUI. Then I thought that people would come telling that it's a personal thing, every ROM is great, they are all smooth and fast... and stuff like that. I think that the OP was asking for more than the general description. What really is it that made you choose that ROM over the other?
My choice here would be AOKP. I have used Team Acid's ROMs since forever, back in the Froyo days when ICBINB and Audiophiles were all over the place. I trust their work and it fits my personality. Constant support and never had an unsolved issue. My dad has been using Valhalla Black since it came out, I don't remember when. He thinks that it's the ultimate thing, still. So, that's enough proof that their work is awesome. Doesn't mean I don't like other development. I have used every ROM, mod and kernel here. Just my preference. Of course, AOKP is smooth, fast, stable, simple, no confusing apps (normal launcher), doesn't take much time to set up to my preferences and it has constant support and updates. But then again, every other ROM has it too. It's very hard to describe the choice, but I can't find other way to explain it.
No disrespect to other devs here. I know Erik, Thomas, Dao, Solrac, Anton and the others do an excellent job. In fact, I'm currently on cMIUI, not AOKP. But I have tried all other's and it's very hard to decided with which one to stay with.
Beam if you want speed and smoothness
aokp if you want customization

JB keyboard for gingerbread?

Hey guys...so, I was recently given a glacier with a cracked screen that I repaired. I tried a couple JB Roman but unfortunately as of right now no one is really doing a lot of development for this old device just a bunch of ports with very little effort.toward bug fixes.
I decided to install the most supported rom I could find which turned out to be virtuous unity. Sense 3.0 android 2.3.4
I'm very happy with the rom. So far it is very fast and stable and does almost everything I want it to do.
My one major gripe is the keyboard. I got very used to the JB keyboard from a past phone of mine and nothing I've tried really matches up.
Is there some way I can install the JB keyboard on this old rom?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

They have jellybean and ICS keyboard in the play store. Plus gingerbread stock keyboard. Just a quick glance they have official evervolve and unofficial slimbeam both 4.3. Awesome did some amazing roms. To say there isn't much development I think is not fair. For such a phone to be so old and only one carrier(in the USA) and the carrier is the least popular of the four hoursmen I think says a lot

Little effort towards bug fixes? Are you kidding me? Devs like Elgin, coderzs and albinoman887 are ripping their hair out trying to fix some bugs. It's not very nice of you to say that's there's little effort involved. Try fixing them yourself and you'll find out why it's so hard.

Sorry about that, I didn't mean to insult anyone. Fro. What I could see it didn't seem like the roms that were being ported were getting a lot of attention after that. Coderz has been porting a ton of roms which I appreciate but I didn't think he was really focusing on making any of them daily driver stable.
The phone is super old and I'm just glad that anyone is doing anything with it at all.
Notori0us, I say that you're building a 4.3 and it looks like from your thread that you're planning on sticking with it and working the bugs out which I'm super pumped about.
Sorry to anyone that is working hard on making a stable newer rom for this old phone that I might have offended, I just haven't seen it yet and the threads I've read are suggesting using older roms.
And thanks for the info about the jellybean keyboard in the market, I had no idea it was that simple.

Lol I was porting a 4.3 cyanogenmod but albinoman887 put out a pretty good one already so there's no point.
I'd you find any rom on the desire hd, s, z or some other phone with the same screen size just pm me I'll try. Also I have a another 4.2.2 aosp rom ported. Just need testers.
Also what bugs exactly are you talking about, you should tell the Devs about it and try to troubleshoot it.

Haha, ok, I'll take a look at albinoman887's thread and see how active it is.
Thanks for the offer! I'm actually really happy with the Rom I've got right now just trying out a bunch of different keyboards.
I can't remember all the bugs I ran across, one of them was that the screen would continually flash even though the phone was off.
Anyway, thanks again for your help/offer, I really do appreciate it!
