Everytime I try to download anything from google play market it says it cannot with error -101. I have tried clear data, force stopping and clearing data on google services framework but nothing seems to work. It also happens on other roms, be it gb or ics. It seems my google account has been blocked?
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks

So a volume download ban, huh?
I just reflashed the rom - had to do it twice because first time the a2sd got screwed. On the first time, though, all the apps restored and installed fine(until the memory filled up, damnit), on the 2nd go there's sh!tload of memory available but nothing downloads because of the 101 error.
Does that make sense?
And how long do I have to wait 'ere it wears out?
thx..
I don't think that the 101 error is anything to do with a download limit - unless Google use it as a general "Something went wrong" error message.
I hardly ever install new apps, so my downloads from the Market (still can't bring myself to call it Google Play) are minimal. This morning I reloaded Reaper onto my phone, signed in to my Google account and started getting the 101 messages whenever I tried doing anything on the Market.
Ran a Factory Reset on my phone, signed in again and it worked perfectly. The only difference was that the first time I enabled my WiFi first, the second time I did it all over the mobile network.
Interesting. I think I used wifi on the first time and just mobile on the second time. And then, later enabled wifi on the 2nd, too. No difference there - it D/L'd everything nicely on the first time and totally blows on the 2nd - no matter what.
edit1:
mkay, seems that the error could be related to the version of the market. I've got 3.4.6 now, but 3.5.15 seems to be needed to use the market correctly. Trying out now, will post back how it went.
edit2:
Yup, that worked.
The final verdict: Google play won't allow you to access if it is outdated. That's where the error 101 comes from.
Got the new version from there
Got error 921 after installing 3.5.15
clearing google play store and google services framework data solved this issue.
I was getting error -101 on Store updates after an upgrade to 4.0.4, and error 921 after forcing an upgrade of Google P* Store to 3.5.15. Clear data/force stop on Google P* Store and Google Services Framework, either with or without a reboot, did not seem to help. I deleted my Google account from the phone and re-added it, and that seemed to fix it.
remove google account?
That's a tough thing to ask.
To remove google account, would mean for me to do a Factory reset.
also getting 921 error on Vending 3.5.16
I got that before , but worked straight after a restart.
Sent from my Desire S using XDA
I guess its an issue with some particular builds of google play, can u check your version? I also had the same issue but all of a sudden it started working again and when i check the version play store seemed to be updated to 3.5.15..
Error 101 SOLVED
I have phones and tablets with Android 2.2 and 2.3 . Those with Android 2.3 expose the 101 error.
I disinstalled updates (Settings, Applications, All, Google Play) for Google Play
Then I cleared data for Google P* Store and Google Services Framework (Settings, Applications, All, Google Services Framework , clear all data)
Then I rebooted the phone. And it works. Download and updates work.
It works also for a Smart TV BOX from China with 2.3.1 loaded.

Since today I'm getting an error (406) when trying to download an app in the play store. Is there a fix for this or does anyone have any idea how to solve this.
Try creating a new google account on your phone with new details and select it in the play store and see if you can download anythang
You could try clearing the cache and data of your market, or you could try removing your googleaccount from your phone and readd it after this.
Does it only occur for one special app?
IMHO the Web server returns a header containing the 406 error code, when detecting that the data it wants to return is not acceptable to the client.
Clearing the cache should solve the problem, if not I found the following:
There was a similar issue in Germany last year (older version of market, but maybe it'll help).
Google-Support described it as follows (translated!):
This error can occur, if you
- Delete the Google account, with which you have logged in your Android phone,
- Reset the phone to factory settings
- You register a new account in your Google Android phone.
This problem does not occur for all users. We investigate the problem and report back to you as soon as we have more information.
Community solution was (sounds funny, but...): starting youtube app --> logging in with your credentials (if logged in, resign and ignore possible error message), reboot (didn't work for all users).
Google solution: Open a ticket with them
In trying to troubleshoot this error myself, I've noticed I get the error when using Wifi for the connection, but everything works fine for using the 3G coverage.
Where I'm at there isn't a 4G connection, but I picked up a few days ago the new HTC Rezound through Verizon. I went to download Angry Birds Space and saw the error. I verified it was for all apps when I tried to download a different game. As mentioned above, the 3G connection works, but Wifi doesn't.
I do have the workaround but would like to figure out why the Wifi isn't working on Google Play. I can surf, use splashtop, and browse Google Play, it's just when I want to install and download that I run into this problem.
I tried clearing out the Google Play cache and that didn't work.
Any other suggestions?

I found some information about an optional Apache module called mod_security. This is a module that acts as an Apache firewall – it blocks a lot of the usual routes that we use to access i.e. websites (this module sends back an error code 406 if you're IP is not allowed to view or download the content you requested).
That could confirm Google's statement regarding opening a ticket with them.
But maybe we're delving into it to much now (hopefully grammatically correct).
There are several ways to limit the sources of the error ourselfs.
1. Can you download the games mentioned above through another wlan?
2. If not, it's time for debugging.
- Which radio, ROM version do you use?
- Did the download work before? (If yes, updated your ROM? Changed
anything else?)
- You can check your requests to Google Play and the according answers
with tcpdump or Wireshark (http://www.kandroid.org/online-pdk/guide/tcpdump.html or http://gadgetcat.wordpress.com/2011/09/11/tcpdump-on-android/) (1. connection with 3G 2. connection with Wifi)
Which ROM do you both use?
Funny enough, I think it is the Wifi we're allowed to join at our work that is causing the issue.. I went home, connected to my Wifi at home and was able to download just fine. There's a loose firewall of sorts here, that the network guy explained to me, that could potentially be putting the block on downloading from google play (although I can use Splashtop, surf via browser over Wifi, etc).
I guess it makes sense although others on other droid phones are able to download over the wifi just fine.
My phone - non-rooted HTC Rezound
Android 2.3.4
HTC Sense 3.5
Software number 1.02.606.6
Baseband 0.95.00.1017_24, 0.95.00.1013r
I had this problem. I disabled wifi, cleared play store data/cache, opened play store and let it do its thing while on data connection. After that's done, turn on wifi and works again.

Have you checked your firewall settings or tried to connect to another wifi? Does it also occur with a 3g connection?
This problem occurs when u have Package Installer or Package Access Helper frozen or deleted. Its a system app and u shouldn do it if you want to keep your access over Google Play store.
You can try to clear cache and data for Google Play store and Google Services Framework and after that restart the device.
This should do the trick, at least for a while...

I cleared the data and cache on the Google play store and services and I still can't download any app from the play store what so ever.
I even uninstalled the play store and restored it by reinstalling a gapps package...but still nothing.
Do i need to reflash my ROM?

error 406
Hi Guys. I've rooted my HTC One x ,then did a unroot. Not sure what happened but cannot download from Google play Error 406. Can you kindly help. Thx
I seem to be having this strange issue with google market.
if I go to my apps, I only (according to play store) 1 app installed which is nit the case. Secondly, play store seems to think I have never purchased an app, eg, I have purchased titanium back up pro, but the store is yet again asking me to buy it at 4.99 where as it would usualy state 'purchased' and download. Secondly on trying to repurchase it states there was an error with the wallet, i then receive 2 emails a charge mail, and a refund message.
when i log in to the the play store on the web, it clearly shows apps that i have purchased in my account history with no price and the word 'purchased' but if I navigate manually, using search, it will state a price and ask me to pay
also i am using the same google account, i only have one.
below is an image of the error
Same problem, after cleaning cache problem disappears with bringing new one, f*&king blank page! No installed apps nor purchased asking me to buy it again. "All apps" tab is empty too. Damn wtf is wrong lol..
what rom are you using buddy?
I have the same problem.
The Google Play Market support could not help yet.
I think it does not matter what ROM on phone, this is a google play bug.
Yea i suppose, but looking on google play, its not under any known issues :/ looks like it may be a while before its fixed.
I contacted the customer support.
They could not solve the problem yet
it seems that the lost connection between Google account and purchased apps.
I sent some screenshots in Google Play support and I hope that the problem will be solved.
I advise you to contact Google Play support: [email protected]

phew glad to see I"m not the only one. I'm hit with this as well on THREE different androids (one of whom is stock unrooted so its not my fault rofl).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24058132
I have also realized I am not getting application updates. its rare I go 3 days without a single update, maybe its because it thinks I have not purchased any apps lol
Any chances that your phone market local data is not yet synced properly with the google play ? I have seen that my apps (free or paid) is not listed out immediately right after I do a full wipe or flash a new rom with full wipe. But it will eventually show up itself after awhile with data/wifi connections. I personally didn't know how long it required to sync back but eventually they will appear back when I access the market again after I restored my personal data back.
By the way, did you guys try to check your account and performs a manual market sync in the Account settings section ?
yes yes and yes we've tried all the normal market fixes, downgraded market, uninstalled updates etc.
This issue is visible on multiple droids I own (including one unrooted stock) and on web market as well, its definitely server side
I'll check in on this thread too lol. I'm in exactly the same position. No response from google.

This discussion about the problem when the purchased app not in app-list when I trying to download&install app, google play say that the app is not bought.
Google Play thinks I have not purchased any apps.
I noticed that going to play.google.com and trying to install apps that way would give me errors. Trying to view my apps would have a page error. All my apps on my phone are gone, but my tablet has them oddly. Weird!

I have them on my phone and not my tablet! I think it might be related to market version whether or not they disappear device side. Can only assume the newest versions of market/store download the list from the server, rather than locally. Play.google.com doesn't work for me either.

Same problem here with my Defy. I'm on CM7.2 Nightly build.
Just started having this problem a few moments ago on my Xoom. Cannot install any apps from the play market from my PC and keep getting server error when trying to access my apps on my xoom. Not checked my Galaxy S II yet... maybe a problem with Google?
Many people have been asking why Google play either fails to download apps or fails to connect at all, so here's a few things that might fix it!
1) Clear the Cache from Google Play in your settings.
(Settings > Applications > Google Play > Clear cache)
2) Try removing your Google account and re-adding it
3) Seems obvious, but try turning your internet of and on
4) Try rebooting your device
5) restart your internet (Through your main hub)
If non of these work, you may be best contacting Google to get it checked out!
Hope this helps

If you've tried everything above, you could try restoring your phone. This would be a pain but if you back everything up first shouldnt be too much of a problem. Or you could just leave it a week or so and see if it starts working . If not, I'd say contact Google.

That's the obvious last solution, but it doesn't really make sense. There must be a reason for the market to be doing this. I also tried manually installing a few different versions of the play store apk, not just the latest one. Still the same results.
I know what you mean. Maybe certain devices can sometimes have trouble accessing the market itself, or maybe its just a temporary thing with the Google servers.

1 more thing.
If you patched any app using lucky patcher, it would have created an odex file in data/app. In order to install it again, you should delete that .odex file.
Sent from my muffin LIFE! Under maintenance.!
I don't recall having used Lucky Patcher. Sadly I will never find out what went wrong. Flashed another rom. It was time for a change anyway
I will try this trick
I think also, if you install a ROM or have a device that does not come pre installed with Google play, that flashing Gapps may be better! Because I've tried manually installing the play store using an apk before. And most of the time it won't downloads apps. Try to flash Gapps as that may solve it. You can get gapps by searching for it followed by your android version on Google ^_^ good luck

I had a similar issue where my rommed kindle fire either couldn't connect or was unable to download apps from the play store. On connecting to the store the device details failed to register at all limiting greatly the available downloads.
Resolved the issue by using a gmail address for logging into the play store. For some reason using email other than gmail caused an issue.
Also removing/hiding unused devices in play store allows you to reconnect devices correctly it seems.

I think the registration process creates (or allows you to create) a gmail address but you can log into play store with the non-gmail address used to register. Unfortunately it seems doing so causes download problems.

I had this same problem with my LG Optimus V, famous for this kind of thing. The first time this happen, I clicked on settings, then Applications, then Manage Applications. Then clicked ALL, then Google Play Store. Then I clicked on Force Stop, then Clear Data, then Clear Cache. Then run Google Play Store and agree to terms. This always worked for me using Froyo 2.2.2 -- When that didn't work, I un-installed the updated Google Play Store and reverting back to the basic one.
Later on this problem happened again, but this time it was when I rooted and flashed a custom ROM. I started getting the error message the file didn't download, but this time it was also telling me the file couldn't download because of low memory. Go figure, Optimus V only have 256 megs of internal ram, but anything below 100 megs gives the the Google error. So just before tossing my phone in the trash I read a post somewhere here on XDA forum that showed step by step how to partition a microSD card and link the second partition as internal memory using an app called Link2SD.
So I tried it on a 16 GB card and after rebooting my phone, it fixed it. Never had the problem again. Plus my Optimus V thinks there is 1GB of internal ram now. Being most phones today have 1GB or more internal ram, there should be no reason for this kind of error.

Hey Guys,
Regarding the latest Play Store update there's this annoying new feature (I was hoping it was some kind of bug) that stacks any updated apps at the top of the "My Apps" list and I find it really annoying.
Is there any way of clearing them so they go back into the list ? Google Maps is still there from 2 days ago and now I have another stuck up there and it looks untidy.

This may or not help you, but give this a read:
http://www.guidingtech.com/16923/remove-apps-history-google-play-store/
From what I read so far, you need the updated Google Play App v3.9+ it gives you the ability to select which apps to remove from your "My Apps List" Hope this helps.
So I updated to the 4.4 Play Store and now when I try to use Hangouts its says "Google Play Services needs to be updated or may not be supported by your device." I tried wiping the apps data/cache but still have issue. Anyone else having this problem? Is the new version of the store the problem? if so where can I get the old version back?
EDIT* So I advanced restored system backup with the older version of the store and its still not working. Also Google Now, Play Games, are giving me the same error message. Says google play services are not supported by my device, contact manufacturer. Hangouts isnt a big deal cuz I dont use it much but I use Google now all the time.
Edit 2* I restored a full back up from a few days ago and now the issue is gone. Very strange. I would still like to know why this happened or what caused the issue. Weird cuz the back up has the 4.4 store still installed.

I found out it was due to flashing the Inverted themed Play Store. The OP of the mod said it happens to some but not all. Haven't had any problems since.
Lately, 504 errors in the Google Play Store have eliminated my ability to recommend this phone. None of the usual fixes work.
Apps that I've had the problem with are:
Evernote
Runtastic Me (after a recent update)
Waze (version 4)
Maybe it is something the app developers are doing that doesn't work with the hardware, but I'm afraid of what the next app may be that I'm stuck unable to update.
Update: this has been resolved by the latest update from Gionee/BLU
Is it Google Play Store causing the problems (installing/updating apps) or is it the apps you mentioned (crashing, etc.)?
Have you started getting them all of a sudden out of nowhere? I've started to have Google Play Services issues with Google Play Music, but that was after fixing permissions in TWRP.
Maybe something you've done recently caused it (installation, file corruption, root/xposed modding) if TWRP is not the cause.
I'll assume you've already tried to clear app data & caches, and maybe uninstalling/reinstalling them. If nothing else works, you can always resort to a factory reset of the phone if you are willing to give up everything.
I've done everything short of a factory reset. I read where another user had the issue with evernote, so I specifically tried installing evernote to test.
I haven't rooted or used a custom recovery with this phone.
I put this in general more for information purposes and to maybe compile a list of apps others run into this with, but if anyone's fixed it, I'd appreciate knowing what they had to do.
Will try APK or Amazon for offending apps soon.
No luck with Amazon, either, so it isn't a play store issue

I think I've had the same problem before when installing a different (free) app. What I did was Google for an older version of the .apk file, then kept trying to install it to my phone until I found an old enough version that is willing to be installed. I was able to update to the latest version automatically without any problems after that.
Hope that helps!
Looks like Runtastic Pro 6.7 is getting added to the list. It may be some API that developers are using that isn't compiling properly on this phone... I hope it gets fixed
Reply from BLU support is that it is a known issue and an update is in the works.
I heard that something happened during the updates (like for Waze) that is causing issues for people with Mediatek CPU's, it does not seem to be intentional though as a fix seems to be in the works.
You can add app "omnivox" with the same error. Right for me it's omnivox and waze.
There was a recent gionee e8 update that hopefully resolves this and will (also hopefully) be ported to us soon.
Glad they're looking into it but this is really disappointing. Makes me want to finally break down and just get an S7 on T-Mo's payment plan.
Got the same problem here.
Hi guys, i just got the BLU pure XL and happen to me the same thing with waze, plus another app MapaRadar. They both cant install trough Play Store. I try installing old versions (waze 3.4 3.5 3.6 3.7 3.8 ..) only one time works. and then suddenly stopped. and it closes itself every time.
Update got the same 504 error.
I got another problem that after starting using play store to install other apps and update the existing ones (chrome, maps, framework..) the play store become unstable , closing itself most of the time. Since i have TWRP i manage to restore my original backup.
I did not update my apps on the play store. at least it stop to get play store app close itself.
If anyone like to share any alternative options until BLU team fix it.

It works for :SMS, messenger, Facebook, snapchat but not for apps like instagram le monde, bfmtv, le parisien, le figaro...
I already perform hard reset.
Sorry for m'y English,

I justt flashed the gionee rom, mainly to see how it is for daily use, but also to check the IMEI corruption and mobile data issues (i experienced none of either) and on a whim I tried to install waze, and it installs fine (on the blu firmware I had previously had 504 error, as well had other apps just "app not installed")
so possibly gionee already had a fix for this?
Got an update this morning, and the problem seems to be fixed. Only about a week behind gionee, so not bad.
