I'm trying to set up my phone to use google wallet and NFC so I can use it to pay for things, but it says unsupported device, and when I click on that, it says it's because I am rooted, and because there's some exploit associated to rooted phones.
I'm ok with that, I just want NFC to work. Is there a workaround so you can still use NFC and wallet when rooted? I've got a 9020a. Thanks
Edit: A lot of people are saying that their phones work just fine even rooted and the message is just a warning, but mine is not working at all. I tried to buy lunch at Jack in the Box the other day and I got stuck there looking like an idiot when it didn't work. I checked and NFC was enabled, so I don't know what the problem is.
Same for me. I'm unable to use Wallet on my phone. I can use the NFC for things like paypal transfers though, so it's not a broken phone.
So I got mine to work today. I returned my device to stock, and it still didn't work. However, I disabled wifi, disabled and re-enabled NFC, and it started to work. Not rooted anymore, but I'll spend what I have in the account and then re-do my root and see if that works with wifi off.
Would you mind trying it rooted with wifi turned off and see if that helps?

Hi. So a few weeks ago I rooted my Nexus 5. I had Google Wallet up and working fine before. However, I forgot to go in and disable everything before rooting. The problem is that when I tap and pay it always says "payment declined" and just doesn't work. I was reading that this might have broken the secure element or something. I've called and been in touch with Google to see if they could help me out buy that's not really going anywhere. Does anyone have any method of completely clearing out the Google Wallet cache or something? I can't even uninstall the app as it's built into the phone or ROM. Any help is much appreciated.
Go into settings, apps and clear it's cache, may have to clear data too

If I remember correctly you need to make sure that you authorize the phone to make payments even though you have broken Google's security. This is if I remember correctly it might be under Google settings. This thread may help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1696909.
Having some issues re-rooting my LG g2. A little background on problem, I am had my phone rooted with no issues and everything was working flawlessly. I am in the Navy and deployed for a few weeks well out of cell range off the east coast. I put my phone into airplane mode as to save battery why I was outside of range. One of the guys on the ship was asking about it and was curious on rooting his Samsung Note 3. I showed all the options of it and even showed him that it could be undone. So I went into Superuser and unrooted phone knowing when I got home I could root again and showing him it was safe. When I got back into cell signal I couldnt get any google products to work, Google+, Gmail, youtube, maps, etc... anything that had my gmail/google login didnt work and would tell me I had a connection problem. But net and facebook and all other apps connected to internet just fine. So I decided to plug in a simply re-root phone. I plugged in and ran IOROOT25 as I did before and everything seemed to work just fine. Said it was rooted and rebooted device but root checker said otherwise and device was not rooted. I tried manually rooting with CMD and tried the batch file numerous times with no success. It shows it worked but never really rooted. I am at a loss, I want my phone back rooted so I can fix my Google login info and sync. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Did Verizon lock out the tap to pay feature on Google wallet with this last update? I went to set it up after flashing viper and noticed that feature is turned off.

Working fine for me, I just checked it only thing it said was it wasn't working due to an unreliable internet connection (3G) I tapped it and it switched to ready to pay.
Stock Rooted.
Fine here.
Wallet was acting weird for me last time I tried to use it, walked in to the store, turned on NFC, checked wallet, everything looked good to go, got to checkout and wallet all of a sudden said it wasnt the default tap to pay and would not let me use it at all. ISIS has long since been uninstalled, no other tap to pay or even NFC apps installed, had data connection etc. but no dice. Had to run home for my wallet that I originally forgot, pretty frustrating and havent tried it since.

I flashed Viper 3.1.0 when it was released and I noticed the same thing; yesterday I also had problems with Hangouts not signing in.
I remembered in the past that if had issues using any Google app, there was something getting blocked as far as DNS resolution.
I have AdAway installed and figured there might be something wrong with the HOSTS file like in the past.
So I disabled & renabled the creation of a HOSTS file and automagically Google Wallet & Hangouts signed in without a problem.
Do you guys have a custom HOSTS file?
If you do, try recreating it and see what happens.
So I got a Google Home and and apparently there are some issues. Whenever I try to add a device to it, after the add account screen saying accounts linked, it never shows up on my device list. I've managed to narrow it down to being an issue with my phone, because when I add it via a different phone it works (and then shows up on my Honor) but I don't know if it's an issue with the Honor 8 or the fact that I'm rooted or what.

I'm not rooted but I can confirm that I have no problems with my phone and Google Home. I have my Google Home, Honeywell thermostat, and 3 smart plugs added in my devices and all work fine. I'm not sure if the problem is your being rooted or not.

Tried a different rooted phone (LG G4) and it worked fine...
No issues on my phone with my Home Mini, i can voice control the Ottim vapour thing upstairs fine, and it will send reminders or directions to my phone.
Hi.
I got my phone yesterday and added my card successfully in Google pay. Tested it in two different stores today with contactless payment, but the terminal didn't even react.
I tested the nfc on my oneplus against my old huawei and at least it tries reading it, so that means the nfc is working I guess.
Have to add that I was using Google pay in these stores before with my old Huawei with no problems.
EDIT: SOLVED
I changed from SIM1 to Google pay in phone settings to make it work.
I have tested it 2 times, no problems. Phone was unlocked , display on
I tried to pay with Google pay twice yesterday. Both times the phone recognized i was trying to pay, but the payment did not get through. Tested with PayPal and CC both times.
Btw i am curious to know wether i have to open the power menu everytime i want to pay? Or does Google Pay still work from every screen?
Works for me everytime, although it says "not set up"
Worked for me when my BL was locked, working fine with unlocked BL and root. Even paid today.
Working... Rooted....

Doesn't work for me since I can't get past the setup screen. Rooted also

You need to Magisk Hide Google Pay. While you are at it hide root from everything Google.

I did. Still no work
Ok, strike that. Looks it's working now, but only after restarting the phone. Safetynet failed before restarting and now it passes.
Did some more testing today. Tried for an extended period in the store today with no luck. It's not even reacting. Phone is not rooted btw and I unlock the screen when I try it. I try to open the app when doing it also.
I tried pairing my headset with nfc and that works flawlessly.
So weird
Edit: just found this settings. Think that could be it? (See picture)
I too, am experiencing issues with Google Pay. At first, I thought it was my bank card needing my bank to ok it for Google Pay on the new phone. But then my Walgreens points card didn't work either-so it's definitely NFC or Google Pay oriented. I have everything setup correctly. How annoying and weird...
Changing the settings from SIM1 to Google pay made it work, so problem solved!
