Hello, I am very excited to open this post. If you donate, you can help this fellow get an infuse. He has successfully ported ICS to the defy, with just an old kernel! The defy was an abandoned phone like us, deeming to never get an update. It was locked up in every way possible, with bootloaders and little sources available. Thanks to his work, the defy has gotten ICS. Now, if your so kind and want ICS on this phone badly, donate to him: (stopping donations at moment, figuring deal) . He is interested in this phone, so do not worry if you donate. If you can, please post how much money you donated down below. I can then maybe keep the money made updated. This is legit, the dev is Quarx. Look him up on the defy forums, he is there and working hard.

Update: Quarx needs donations only right now, jt will get bedwas phone, and the other dev (sorry forgot name) is only depending on another guy, (read on page 8/9 for names) are working together, they will contact me if they need the help.

Nice...I installed and ran every ver of ICS on my cappy...idk just not a good impression ....great ics roms great dev in the cappy world..and of crs if the infuse gets it i will prob give it a run lol but not me i guess..

Well ladies and gents,
I know everyone is very excited that Krylon now has the sgs4g to help us along with dev work. I am also very pumped about it.
I am also a huge fan of the work of WhitehawkX, Roman (Birgertime)
I would also love to see them get the sgs4g and see more of their amazing work on our phones.
What I am proposing is a "Forum phone foundation" to help these guys get the phone. I hope that I am not out of line by posting this here, but I am interested in what you guys think about it?
I don't think it would take very long to get enough money together for this.
Another solution would be, if anyone has an "extra" sgs4g that they would be willing to sell or donate please get in touch with me.

Yeah basically you go to tmobile. Make sure you have the holder of the account of your number. And you just say I would like a replacement someone stole my phone or I lost it. Then they'll ask if u have insurance/warranty then you say yes and they double check. Its a pretty long process buts its super easy. $130 for refurbished phone and $20 for new sim card... just say that you already have a sim at home that hasn't been used and youll activate that later.

no, due to the issues, I asked him to refund the money I sent.
The hold for the refund should release the morning of the 20th.
krylon you seem to have the worst luck obtaining this device. Is this the second out third time you have been offered one and lost it? I've never known that to be true. Their github has 59 developers, he is not one.
codeworkx and atinm are though.
Feel free to keep trying to give phones to krylon... I am just saying, perhaps you should try something different for a change.
I am willing to sell my Galaxy S4g for 200. I am trying to reduce monthly expenses and getting rid of my phone and service will help. Phone is in great shape and I have the box and all accessories except the headphones.

I completely agree with this. A phone should be sent out to either Atinm, codeworkx or coolya. No offense to Krylon, but he had an SGS4G for quite some time and was entirely unsuccessful getting CM to even boot (if he was successful I never saw anything on it..).
If you sent a phone to Atinm, codeworkx or coolya GUARANTEED you would have CM in a very short time. But hey, what do I know. Do as you please.
BTW... didn't Krylon just sell his SGS4G? And now you're wanting to buy him another? Hmmm...

So get in touch with the developers you speak of and if they want the device start a fund for them. Plenty of people here are willing to donate. This is the third fund out of three completed.

I do not have the time to handle this, I was hoping I could encourage you guys to explore new/possibly better options.
All I can say is WOW I am fairly new to these boards and it seems like folks just want to argue about stuff. Alot of people were asking on this board about a rom for the samsung admire even on cm's board and no one has even offered to help. Krylon was the first to offer to help, that is why I sent him a donation to get the phone...

Looks like imnuts and jt are putting their heads together to get ICS kernel to boot on Charge.
I pledge $20 as soon as a working ICS rom is out. Please support their work.
Not impressed with GNEX. I plan to stay on my Charge for a while.
Update 2/14/12: I'm not holding my breath for ICS on Charge anymore. Looks like Samsung is holding back some critical pieces. If I had time, I'd work on it myself. Since I don't, I have no right to complain. Those of you who are interested in tracking progress, please follow the link below:

Btw on rootzwiki there are sometimes different things and tid bits of info.... Too the op if you really are already behind it, meaning ics, just donate because the work the devs put it including themers, testers, rom developers,and tweakers is worth it even if we don't get it... I donate sparingly because I'm currently unemployed and somewhat frugal when it comes to giving free money, but his work and others has inspired me to do things myself, like theming... It's not for everyone as any aspect it's time consuming like people wouldn't believe, but it's satisfying... Time = $$$$$ so if you want to maybe push him along and show him the charge is worth his time and others drop a donation.... Don't say well if you do this, when almost every dev for android is worth more than just a few empty promises of donations.... Just donate and they will provide you with information, help, tweaks, colorful and some not so colorful themes, and roms for your pleasure.... I'm sure they get slack for the time put on by there irl friends and family ad I just started and Im already getting it.... So again just donate.... Empty promises never inspired anyone...

Can you please let us know how is the rom working?
Home button and camera doesn't work on the ICS build. It APPEARS much faster than 2.3.5 (a lot less stuttering for me but I wasn't playing with any special builds there....)
the installer.zip auto reformats you to ext4.
It shows extreme promise for an alpha build IMHO.

XDA is more gsm and rootz is more cdma( mostly north american ) and devs are free to post any site they want. jt got a loaner infuse from entrofy and that $100 is for quadx or someone i forgot who ported ics to defy but still could not get a infuse deal. anyways, the point is jt can do whatever you wants to do, and even if he made a deal he already posted a link to his source and a alpha version. he is done, and now other devs can start doing it, he's not obligated to make a 100% working rom , people stop trolling jt because he only wants to post in rootz, the is a dev forum not a rom forum, he can one day say " screw it " and we are left with nothing., just a though
just check rootz more. thats it.. only takes 2 mins of your time

It might go there since the Dev already moved on with it having a bunch of crap still broken. Not looking for this to move there just someone with the balls to take it and make it there own with fixes and a good portion of it working just like people here did with gingerbread.

Has jt said he is done with development? He did just open a thread on Rootzwiki why would he just drop it? Is it possible he's taking a break? We just got 2 builds to play with in the last three days...I'd say that's worthy of a break...

Not to start a flame war but my guess is because up until jt posted his build most of the devs said it was [nearly] impossible, no kernel, no source, no this, no that. And even if it was possible there wasn't enough ram and it would be a hacked up version, etc etc. Again not trying to start up any **** just giving you a history refresher.
Maybe not what the poster meant but that is how I took it.
So now with over a year of reflection (granted not all those in the poll got the device at launch) which individual who either a) received the device via donation or b) received donations to get the device (and did) contributed the most to the Droid Charge?
Correct me if I'm wrong in the details:
imnuts: received donations to purchase
jt1134: was sent the device in some swap between rootzwiki and kejar
gunnermike: received donations to purchase
r2doesinc: beat out imoseyen in rootzwiki's community vote contest...and then after getting heavily criticized for trying to sell the device when he couldnt get aosp working..."lost" the charge at the big android bbq last year "in a cab"
I had to give it to imnuts for the amount of work he put out for the device and the level of assistance he put into the community. If I had a second vote, jt would get it. Even though we don't have a fully working AOSP, he has it so close I can taste it, and I still have hope it will eventually see a completed release.

I feel gunnermike also put a good amount of time and effort into the charge with themes but themes are just not as important as roms and kernels.

I totally get the stab at r2doesinc, but I decided to just play things straight. That's old news and in the past. I was honestly more pissed at rootzwiki's response to the situation than I was at him.

Basically, yea, in a nutshell. Rootz's response was that they bought it for him and it was up to him what to do with it. Donors were pissed, not only because he stood to make money on their donation, but also because it set a bad precedent for the future.
The charge is a piece of crap.
