So, I've recently rooted my phone and turned to S-Off successfully. Nothing has gone wrong but I still want to change back to S-On and unroot it (Also remove Clockwork and Hboot). I followed a thread here and they had all the instructions for doing so, heres the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
I located the RUU I needed and began to download it. But the servers were really slow (Not my internet) so I left the computer on overnight. I went to check on it this morning and it had downloaded 377MB out of 385. I got dressed only to come back to an error message from FileFactory saying that the file is unavailable...
However, I want to unroot my phone and turn S-on back on, and I don't want to risk bricking my phone just because I didn't follow instructions (I am currently on stock ROM but instructions don't give a damn ). Would I be able to download a similar RUU with the same baseband number but different version number? This RUU's version number is 1.73.401.4, would I be able to download say 1.73.401.2 and use that to flash the stock ROM again? I would reply to that thread, but I'm new, so I can't . Any help is appreciated.

Hello all i am new to all this android stuff. Need to remove clockwork mod.
Where do i find the stuff needed to get my sensation back to stock.
this is my software version 1.35.161.2
if you can help that will be great
That's Vodafone UK correct? If so, you'll need to do the following:
1. Set your phone to Super CID using this guide - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300 (Step 4)
2. Download this RUU - http://www.multiupload.com/SAFC8695JA
3. Reboot the phone into fastboot, connect to your PC and run that RUU
4. Once the RUU has finished you'll be back to stock but still S-OFF. Reset your CID using the guide above but set it to VODAP001
5. Then, using the guide above again, set your phone to S-ON
That should do the job, any questions just say
got a tad lost using the guide. is there not an easyer way to return to stock ?
butt ran the ruu program and that as removed the clockwork mod i think but phone still says s off.
It will say S-OFF, you now need to change back to S-ON using step 5
Did you have to set your phone to Super CID to get the RUU to flash? If so, you'll need to change it back to the Vodafone one befire setting S-ON
So long as you read it all first, then read it again, you should be OK
is there a video tutorial anywhere ?
What have you done so far? You say you ran the RUU, correct? Did this go through without having to set Super CID?
That guide is a n00b proof one so I'm finding it hard to know where you're going wrong
tryed super sid but dont think it worked as did not see the phone reeboot or anything. then used ruu in the link you gave me. worked without super sid i think. as phone was able to bolwload and update over the air update. the clockwork mod is nolonger there when i boot up using volume and power method.
but pnone says s 0ff still.
I needed to send a phone back in for warrenty exchange and tried to do the s-on per the stickies on the how to. I did not successfully get the original RUU to run. It kept saying error [155]. I need the correct RUU update utility. I did everything to a T per the instructions. I had to send the phone in already but i have to send in another one back and need to get it back to s-on. Can anyone tell me a success story that worked and what instructions did you use.
TIA
JC
So I've really gotten myself into a pickle I suppose. I bought this phone off a guy, and what do I do I tinker with it. Well he just so happens to have an updated hboot file sitting on the sd card that I updated. Long story short I somehow managed to get the phone rooted, but S-ON yet the recovery mode was working. I needed to change it from clockwork to RA which it seems it didn't like. So I attempted to just unroot the device and reroot it well. Now I'm stick because the 2.10 root wont work, and the 2.15 tells me I'm not on the correct hboot. I've been nosing around time to find for the life up me an updated PC36IMG that contains the current 2.3.3 with hboot 2.15-2.16 If anyone can point in the right direction it would be greatly helpful.

Hey, here's what helped me. It's an RUU and worked running on my computer to change the hboot back to an older stock rom. I then accepted 1 update which took me back to the most recent version where I was able to use unrevoked/revolutionary to root my phone again. HEADS UP!!! Do NOT accept the most recent update from HTC/Sprint. This will change your hboot to 2.18 which there is currently no root. It also locks bootloader, there is an unlocking method, but simply put the easiest way to do this is:
1. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15282635#post15282635
Go here and download the RUU
2. Unzip and run the EXE file on your computer. Make sure usb debugging is connected and that you make sure the screen doesn't turn off in the display settings.
3.Let the program do it's thing, it will tell you when it is finished and will reboot your phone (Heads up, it wiped my phone so make sure you backup your info.)
4. Double check the Hboot when it's done, you should be able to root from there. I accepted one update b/c this seemed to be froyo and the 1 update I did took me to Gingerbread, it prompted me to update again but DON'T accept the latest OTA
From here you should be set and ready to go about rooting your phone. This puts it back at stock as if you just got it. Hope it helps. I am kinda new at this and it took me a whole day to figure out, but this was pretty easy once I understood, the whole process only took about 20 minutes! . It's funny 3 days ago, if I read what I just wrote about EXE and Ruu's and whatnot.. I would not have known what any of it meant. I'd be happy to help explain better if need be. But wanted to update you on what worked for me.
Hi to all, i'm jauffre and i'm new in XDA. I have a problem and, as i searched all the forum without finding an answer, i need your help.
Last week i rooted my htc incredible s using the revolutionary tool, wich upgraded the hboot to 6.13.1002. i installed with the clockwork mod recovery tool a modded rom, and it was great. but sunday my phone crashed to the ground, and now the cover is broken (so i need to send it to the warranty).
i spent last day searching a guide for dummies to unroot the phone, and using the signed RUU (downloaded from this site) it appeared to work, but my htc is still s-off.
now, i know i need to downgrade the hboot, and i tried everything (i reinstalled froyo, updated the radio and then updgraded to 2.3.3), but this is still a problem.
please, help me!
Hey guys, this is the procedure i did to solve my problem. do it at your own risk.
first of all i must say that with this process i'll have the hboot back, but NOT the bootloader (so when you hold "volume back+power on" you will see the modded bootloader, not the stock one). i don't know how did you rooted your phone, what programs did you use, and i cannot assure you this procedure will work. if you're not sure, don't do anything.
first, you have to look for the original RUU of your phone (you can find it on this site). then follow this thread to find the rom.zip file (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=790022), where you can find several files. you need the android-info.txt and the hboot_xxx.img files.
open the hboot.img file with a text editor; in the first line you can find many strange symbols, and after that there will be a string of numbers (that is the hboot version).
you have to know what version of hboot have you currently on your phone (if you used the revolutionary tool, it will be probably 6.13.1002) and simply change the hboot.img string so that the release number is higher (than the modded hboot; i.e. you can write 7.09.0000).
after that you have to make a zip file with the android-info.txt and the hboot_xxx.img file you have just modified, and if you have an incredible s, call it "pg32img.zip".
if you have another device, simply you can turn on your phone in the bootloader mode, and if there's a memory card the device will look for a file, which name appears (it's the code you need).
then put that pg32img.zip file on the root of your sd card, reboot in bootloader mode (volume down+power) and follow the instructions to do the upgrade. after that, if you restart in bootloader, you'll see that the hboot version will be 7.09.0000 (the same you wrote) and will be s-on.
now, search and download the latest version of "superoneclick" (an application that should root and unroot your phone), and start it. link your phone to the pc and start the unroot process.
when it is done, simply leave your phone linked to the pc and start the RUU.exe file you downloaded. start the update process and if you have done everything good, at the end you'll have your phone with the stock hboot and the s-on.
i'm not a serious programmer, i simply was really lucky (i really didn't know if that could have worked) but i did it. i don't know how did you do the root, and how does the superoneclick work, so i am not responsible for any bricked phone.
if you are not sure, simply send your device to the htc assistance (better pay than have a new paperweight).
good luck
download superoneclick select unroot and uninstall the superuser app.Oh and download and flash your phone's stock rom
ok, thank you for the help!
there's a little problem: at the end of the superone process it says me "superuser not found", so it can't be deleted.
so i remade the root (using superone) and unrooted; then installed the RUU, but nothing: it's still s-off. what can i do now?
i tried to make superoneclick work, but with no success... although i have installed the superuser.apk, the program still says me there's no SU, and can't unroot my device.
Any suggestions?
ok guys, i did it...
first i remade the root process, and flashed the superuser.apk. then i wanted to "upgrade" the hboot, from 6.13.1002 (revolutionary) to 7.13.0000 (simply i changed the 1 to 7 opening the hboot signed image with a text editor). then i launched superoneclick, and started the unroot process. at the end, i launched the signed htc RUU with gingerbread, and now i have my htc incredible s with s-on and hboot 1.13.0000.
=)
the last thing: does someone know hot to put the original htc bootloader?
cant someone build a uniform high performance rom
i added a guide to do the process go to the first post and read it all
thanks for the guide, just one confusion here, that after putting the pd****.img into the sdcard, i need to goto bootloader right? (not recovery)
Edit: worked in first attempt . Just one suggestion if you can replace word "Recovery" with "Bootloader" inorder to avoid confusion for other users
thank you fshami! i just corrected the guide
Hi I just tried following the guide posted on the first post using the android-info.txt and the hboot_xxx.img files received by the OTA update released recently as well as one downloaded from the net "OTA_Vivo_Gingerbread_S_hTC_Asia_India_2.12.720.5-1.36.720.1_release_190041sn70bk4icw74exvv"
On both occasions the bootloader update failed.
I am unable to install the OTA update. This has been downloaded quite a few times already and the phone just hangs with the android logo screen.
P.S. My phone is an Incredible S purchased legally in India around June 2011.
Thanks.
then put that pg32img.zip file on the root of your sd card, reboot in bootloader mode (volume down+power) and follow the instructions to do the upgrade. after that, if you restart in bootloader, you'll see that the hboot version will be 7.09.0000 (the same you wrote) and will be s-on.
Sorry my friend , but this donĀ“t work....
Sorry.....
I thought this is what I was searchinf for years but...What if I have an USB issue? Like usb brick? So I cant connect my htc with the pc x.x for superoneclick
I can provide any information you need as long as it doesn't require me to actually boot up the android interface (I can only use fastboot and that's it) but I'll list my issue so far.
So I rooted my phone a good while back using The Ultimate Guide: S-Off, Recovery, Root, & Jelly Bean on Android Forums dot com I have the boost mobile american variant of the phone, not the k2_ul it's the k2_cl I do believe.
I recently tried to revert it back to stock since I don't really need it rooted anymore.
It ultimately resulted in me just contacting HTC directly because I couldn't find an actual stock rom to flash onto my phone anywhere.
(maybe I just wasn't looking in the right places, but I looked very thoroughly)
After a few messages back and forth with their technical group I ended up flashing an updated hboot they gave me for it, and then the stock rom they gave me always resulted in "INFOshift signature_size for header checking... FAILED (remote: 32 header error) finished. total time: 50.946s"
So at this point the phone was still booting up like normal, but I figured maybe I should just try to update it with the software update.
First update applied, phone still worked, another update prompt.
Second update applied, phone is bricked, and now I think since I flashed that hboot file it's removed cwmrecovery from my phone and I feel like I've played god with my poor phone.
I'm really sorry if this seems really vague, and I'm really sorry if this is the wrong place to put this.
And I'm sorry for not posting links and images but I can't since I'm new apparently.
I just really want to get this fixed, and if possible go back to a stock phone.
I used this to get me back to stock JB 4.1.2 on Boostmobile, I was on JB 4.2.2 the latest update , go to One SV General and look for this post by a guy named Russell it's called [almostRUU][K2_CL]&[How To Update After Moonshine S-Off] , I was unlocked and S-OFF to get it to work, sorry on link for you, read it carefully and download the files and put on PC, and if it don't help then try messaging him.

I'll check it out, appreciate the info.
Okay so I originally had a legit rom from htc themselves, but flashboot kept giving me the error I posted in my original post, after following that guide recommended, I couldn't get twrp to flash over, but I did read ahead and just put the rom the htc people gave me on my sd card, then I boot into bootloader and viola, it updated itself to the latest version, it's now stock as far as I know.
I know it isn't rooted, I relocked bootloader before even updating it, so I'm thinking my problems are over.
Even if it isn't at least the phone is usable again.
Glad your problem is solved....
