Error application requires newer SDK version when updating Flash player - HTC Desire S

On updating both YouTube and Flash from Market, (sorry meant play ) this morning I'm getting a nasty popup that says
Error
application requires newer SDK version
This stops the applications from updating and they then roll back
Anyone else getting this? Any ideas on how to resolve?
I'm running Endymion as shown in my sig. Have also posted this in the ROM thread also but thought that i should post here as I'm not sure whether this is ROM related or we're ail getting it?

i guess you've got google play 3.5.15 its not actually anything to worry about its just the update showing for sense 4.0 as it has a newer sdk version then sense 3.5 and it looks a bit different on sense 4

I have this error today. Uninstall YouTube now can't reinstall at all.
Oxygen u8800.
Installed ics today then rolled back so not sure if this effects it

After testing icsmegamixv1.22 (I had no network) I when back to Android version 2.3.5 (BeastMOD_II_v2.5), it`s been 3 day but I still have the issue.
I have uninstalled Flash and now I cannot reinstall it. I also have the issue with gmail update. All other app update are updating it self properly.
Any idea how I could fix it.
Thanks in advance!

I have found the apk to reinstall it from there : androidappslabs.com/adobe-flash-player-11/?dhiti=1
But it still doesn't want to update after that.
Thanks again in advance if you have any idea how to fix the SDK, since I assume there will be more and more app doing that.

Have you tried stopping and clearing out the cache and data from google play/market applications
Could also try going to recovery and wiping cache and dalvik

Hi,
Thanks for the suggestion
I when to settings -> Applications -> Manage applications -> selected Google Play Store -> "stoping" the app and then "clear data" but I still had the issue after going trough the settings.
I then tried the Dalvik cache flush, but still the same.

have you tried from recovery to format the CACHE partition as well as the DALVIK CACHE?
Do you have a previous backup of the ROM that you're running which you could restore back to?
Otherwise my only other suggestion would be that you take a full backup of your devices current state, and then perform a full wipe (system, boot, data, cache) and re-install your ROMs a fresh, which will mean having to re-set up your device.

Try this
I've just had the same problem. Background is that I installed the new official 4.0.3 ICS ROM. It's OK but doesn't actually do much more than GB. What it does do (from my perspective) is slow things down and eat up lots of RAM (200MB more?).
So I reinstalled GB: Odin reinstall of official KI4, Odin reinstall of Speedmod kernel, then CWM restore of nandroid backup. Everything back the way I like it.
When I was on ICS I may have gone to Google Play and downloaded some updates...
Anyway, when I opened Google Play in the reinstalled GB there were a number of updates waiting for me (including Flash and Gmail). I started to install these (one at a time as I like to check the change logs). A couple worked but others downloaded then gave me the "application requires newer sdk version" message and stopped the installation.
After trying a few other things I did this:
1. Opened Google Play and downloaded another app (Appbrain in my case but any app may have had the same effect).
2. Ran Appbrain and got it to catalogue my installed apps (this step may or may not be relevant).
3. Uninstalled Appbrain.
4. Went back to My Apps in Google Play and the updates had disappeared.
I am assuming that all the updates that wouldn't install were for ICS and that 'no updates' was/is correct for my GB setup.
Be interesting to hear if your background to the problem is similar to mine, and if this 'fix' works for you.
bish

Yes, my background was very similar, switching quickly (flash addict) between GB and ICS and then back again
I believe that this confused the market and got me in that situation, I believe a full restore to my original ROM solved my problem

It seem that doing that :

It actually did the job but it took 1-2 day before Adobe Flash finally update it self successfully.

Uninstall the updates for the Play Store. It worked for me after that. Hope it works!

Even though this is a very old thread, I would like to add that the same problem haunted me when I installed JB Rom and switched back to ICS in fairly quick succession. I also believe it's a matter of Google Play getting confused.

Same thing happening to me, no idea how to update Google Maps.

Problem with MARKET???

Hello! I have problem with market...On the market is not showing all my applications installed I tried to delete the cache and reinstall some apps, but nothing has changed????? Please help me!
Clear cache >> clear data >> force stop & if that doesn't work doing the previously mentioned immediately followed by a reboot usually works for me.
Happened to me twice now. Had to ultimately reflash gapps
It's a common problem for many countries recently "added" to the list with paid apps available.
I've tried every solution I can think off and none of them work. Google f*cked up, simple as that.
titanium backup used to have a market fix, dont know if paid still does. it used to fix it for me.
I try all metods...clear all market cache reboot...but nothing...how to make backup???

Backup of what? Rom, apps...rom use rom manager, apps use titanium
I tried everything except the backup ... I even re-installed the Android Market 2.3.4 but it did not help ... on the home page dont show application in the form of images on green background...??????
when it happened to me, i reflashed gapps and it worked for me as well.

Downgrade Market?

Not sure if this is ROM specific, so I am unsure whether to post in General or on the Gummycharged 1.91 thread...
I would like to get the old Market working on Gummycharged 1.91.
I was able to get the old Android Market 2.2.6 using Gummycharged 1.85. Market Updater even updated to version 3.0.xx, which I uninstalled, and was able to get Market 2.2.6 working even after I as auto-updated.
Now I'm on Gummycharged 1.91 and I cannot get 2.x.x working. I've tried 2.2.6, 2.3.2, and 2.3.6. They all install and work after clearing data and a restart, BUT they always FC when selecting an app in the Market.
Any suggestions?
*edited out my Market 3.0.xx bashing...*
Have you tried Menu>Settings>Applications>Manage Applications, select ALL, scroll to Market and tap, choose "Clear data"? That's worked for some...
HTH
I bet you have an update installed. Check out data/app. If you go to your applications in settings you might see it there as well. Not sure if it will show up when the old version is installed.

Yes, I tried that multiple times. I had to do it on Gummy1.85 in order for the market to work at all. A restart was also required. Gummy1.85, as I recall, came with Market 2.2.6, so it is known to work with the older Markets. Unfortunately, Market 3.0.xx comes with Gummy 1.90 and 1.91.
I tried removing the com.android.vending.apk, as well as vending.apk (depending on Market version is installed) as well as clearing data. I also pulled the com.market.vending folder from /data/data as well. I also tried Titanium Backup recovery uninstall option, which would just hang on the "android with exclamation" icon during startup. Same issue, after clear data and restart market FC when selecting an app. I tried factory reset, clear cache, clear delvik cache, fix permissions to no avail. I reflashed Gummy 1.91, removed Android Market via Titanium Backup normal uninstall method, cleared data, cache, delvik, permissions, etc.
I am starting to think that this is a ROM-related issue.
I also tried various combinations of deleting android.com.vending.apk, vending.apk, uninstallting via Titanium backup, removing android.com.vending folder from /data/data with Root Explorer, restarting, clearing data, fix permisisons, clear delvik cache, reflashing ROM, and general cursing the new Market.
As for actually finding and comparing apps, I think I'll just use website (I really wish I could filter out the games from an app search, I get dozens of "space" games when I'm searching for astronomy apps, for example.)

I also uninstalled the updates via "manage applications" in settings. This worked on Gummy 1.85 which had the old market. Uninstalling the Market update only rolls back to 3.0.26 or whatever when on Gummy 1.85.
Thanks for the responses, though!

[Q] How do I debug an Android Sync Issue? "Internet Sync"

Under Settings -> Accounts & Sync -> "account" -> "Sync Internet"
I'm getting "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly."
On my primary Google account and not my secondary accounts.
I've tried just the single account too, and still the same issue. This seems to be happening from the last 2 versions of Clean Rom.
I did wipe data every time.
Are there logs anywhere to give me a clue?
I really don't want to go back to a stock rom to test now and risk loosing root, etc.. but it was working from stock to the first Clean Rom, then upgrading to the second clean rom. The apps I downloaded did install after setup even after the wipe and rom install.
Thanks.
I have the same issue and would like to know as well
I'm also experiencing this issue. Hopefully someone knows how to fix it :/

You might have already done this ... but just to confirm ... what partitions did you wipe before you installed CleanRom ?
From CWM, I used the "Clear Cache" then followed with "Wipe Data/Rest".
I believe I've tried before and after ROM installation, but am not 100% currently. I do not believe that should make difference, since I do not believe Clean Rom writes to the data partition.
Since I don't know where the logs are, I'll try to do USB Tether and run Wireshark on the RDNIS interface later on today to see if I can capture any info. Hopefully it is not encrypted.
Thanks.

Try wiping all the partitions in the "WIPE" section in CWM (including system , except SD-CARD ) and also under advanced " WIPE DAlvik Cache" and then install cleanROm.
I am on v2.3 and I do not have that issue.
it really is a benign error.
I get it on ALL my ICS devices, regardless of rom/config/wipe/etc. its a google issue, not inherent to this device specifically.
Sort of. Unfortunately I did this see work on the earlier Clean ROM upgrades, and I've been spoiled.
When it worked, after I've flashed the new rom, it will automatically reinstall all the Apps I've downloaded from the App store. All my wifi SSIDs will be restored.
Yes it isn't critical, but a nice feature.

In CMW On the First Menu I,
Wiped data/factory reset
Wiped cache partition
Next in Advance
Wipe Dalvik Cache
Didn't see any other wipes.
Installed, and still the same problem.
Since I'm reset right now, is there any safe way to install stock to make sure that internet sync does work with a stock rom?
I image in need to hex edit the current version to a 1.0.0.0 and then install say the 1.7.3 RUU
Root then unlock again.

reinstalling appstore apps and wifi ssids doesnt fall under the internet sync. those are settings elsewhere in your menu. that feature is located under PRIVACY/BACKUP & RESTORE

Hi there! I'm running a 'vanila' ICS 4.0.4 Nexus S. After the last reboot i'm having multiple pop-ups about applications that were forced to stop. Literally all system apps (Contacts, Messaging, Market etc), Google apps were forced to close. Phone doesn't rings and so on.
Most sad fact is that i can't even manage to install any program for backing up the phone and make a factory reset.

try this first: go to cwm, choose fix permissions, and see if it works. if not, you can do this: do a nandroid backup with cwm, then, factory reset everything. cache, data EVERYTHING. install any rom of your choice, then, download the titanium backup app, and you can extract app and data from the nandroid backup using titanium. never tested this my self since i backup everything before flashing and clear all data, so app crashes.
hope this helps and please hit the thanks button of you find this helpful!

Oh, I see. You must have installed the update from 2.3 without wiping. Or something like that. Based on my knowledge, the best things you can do are:
1. Wipe/factory reset then reboot.
Or
Root your phone. Which wipes everything including the SD card partition. You can back up the SD card easy. I suggest the latter. So you can flash custom recovery images and do lots more than 'clean' ICS. One more thing, unrooted and unmodified is technically called stock. You will see this word a lot of times. Hope this helps.

ok guys, thanks for the help. but i'm thinking of the other way around
can i copy stock ICS 4.0.4 fw file on to internal storage and try to update the phone from HBOOT menu (the one called up with holding 'volume up' key)?
the thing is i have some info on the phone such as sms that i'd like to keep
or perhaps copy whole 'content' of the storage to my pc and move sms base or whatever back after factory reset?
is there a way to access internal storage while in HBOOT menu, cos in the loaded up state i can't copy fw file due to crashing system apps?

Insufficient Storage Available Error message in Google Play when installing

Hi,
I've developed the dreaded Insufficient Storage Available Error when downloading and installing apps from the Google Play store. Also get a similar message when trying to install sideloaded apps. "Out of space, free up some space and try again."
I've got a 16GB phone, and still have like 8GB free on the internal SD card. I'm running CleanRom 2.0. This is very annoying. I've rebooted, tried uninstalling some bigger apps, and nothing works. I'd rather not have to reinstall everything and wipe my phone.
Can anyone help?
I can't really help other than complain about the same issue on my Epic 4G running SleeperROM. I had to clear out some of the larger apps, install updates, then reinstall the larger ones in order to "update" them.
My problem occurs when my remaining internal storage falls below 50MB.

This is really looking like a wipe/reinstall situation. If you have titanium, it's easy wiping. Just do apps/data though, not system data as whatever bug you have may be imbedded in the system data. All you'll need to do is add your accounts, widgets and system settings.
Your call, but if it were me I'd wipe cache and dalvik, and reflash the rom to see if that would fix it before wiping/resetting.

Yeah, it happened one other time, when I was running an early Route 66 build, and then reflashed to Synergy, and it fixed it. But I'd really like to understand what's going on, as I can't be always reflashing ROM's. I do have Titanium, but it's not trivial to do it, and it takes some time to do the reflash carefully.
Any other ideas?
I'm not sure about clean rom, but I'm on synergy and I just wipe cache / dakvik, reflash rom and that's it. All my apps and data stay intact and any bugs are cleaned up. 5 min process.
But not sure with clean rom, as synergy is on a nightly status where dirty flashing is okay. You'll need to find out if a clean rom reflash wipes data.
But a clean flash/titanium restore is done in 20 min total (with paid titanium). I do it all the time, it's become routine.

Tried it, didn't work. I guess I'll just have to reinstall. Grrrrrr!
i solved my same issue like this
I had the same message come up, driving me nuts, banging my head on phone, when I looked into link2sd settings, I had it set to store on external card and had errors...changed it to Auto and the error message went away...apps still linked to external card.

I ended up just reinstalling an update to my ROM CleanRom 2.5. That fixed it for now.

Here's how I solved it
I had the same problem and solved it. I had link2sd installed and it had "Auto Link" turned ON. Turning it OFF fixed the problem.
Good luck ;

this worked for me thx man
GALAXY S2
I'm getting the same error, rooted and running the latest Cyanogenmod 10.
So far I've tried all of these steps and nothing has worked:
Clear cache and dalvik cache.
Delete market framerwork data and google data.
There are no odex files to delete.
I cannot sideload apps, so Luckypatcher doesn't work
I restored through Clockworkmod recovery to a save before this happened.
I cannot backup through CWM or Titaniumbackup (or anything like those) because I get the insufficient storage error.
If I have to do a wipe, what steps should I go through if that is the last resort so as not to lose anything (other than the obvious backup data still saved)?

I couldn't install or update any apps, but for some reason I could download link2sd.
Once I installed it, opened the app went to settings off the Menu then 'Install location'.
It was set to 'External' set it to 'Automatic' then exited the app.
Now I was able to download again. Thanks for sharing the fix. :good:
